Summary: I am drowning in a pool of hazy mist that coats a darkness over my eyes. A constant fog surrounds me. I feel as if I am hearing, seeing, speaking, all underwater. Somewhere submerged deep inside me something is screaming, hysterically crying, breaking, but it is so far down that I hardly notice. It is ever present, a nuisance to my hazy reality that annoys like a persistent gnat. Disturbing images plague my mind and memory, taunting in their familiarity... So I sleep.
----Ship----
Winter Solstice came.
It was dark inside our igloo. Sokka wouldn't let me go outside. I wasn't angry though. I liked being inside where there was no icy wind. There were still no pelts but Sokka had blankets for us. I missed soft fur underneath my cheek when I slept though. The blankets were rough and scratchy in comparison. I was still very tired and listless. I slept most of the day too lethargic to leave my pile of blankets. Sokka brought me food, making me eat even when I wasn't hungry. More often than not it was spicy, unfamiliar food that stung my mouth as it slid down my throat.
I never heard the hailstones from the blizzards hit the igloo but the ground would roll heave underneath me. I wasn't frightened, I found it soothing. It made me think of blue, choppy seas.
Sokka stayed with me most of the time only briefly going outdoors. Sometimes, as he left, my eyes thought they saw a sliver of sunlight from outside.
-
Winter Solstice, in my mind, is similar to the six months of darkness the North and South Poles get in our world.
Please remember my dear readers that nothing is how it seems as you continue reading more will be revealed. This is Katara's POV. What do you think? As always reviews are the atara to my Zu.
