Dark winter Chapter 3
He was beginning to wonder if he should intervene. “Look” she said trying to defuse the situation “just put him down and I'll get your order". She said moving closer to the situation. The blond seemed to be considering her offer, then set the clerk on his feet.
The clerk promptly fainted, leaving her no choice. She had given her word anyways, well sort of. She walked behind the counter and began putting together their order. Instead of leaving when she was done, they sat down at a table.
Oh just great now they won’t leave. She thought as She kneeled by the clerk and tried to revive him. About that time a skuzzy looking guy walked though the door and pulled a gun. The clerk was coming to then spotted the man and passed out again. “Everyone on the floor now!” he yelled. Everyone just sat there looking at him like he was stupid. Until he grabbed Zarana by the hair and put the gun to her head.
He then ordered Angel to open the register. She finally got the cash drawer to open and the robber reached across the counter. The biker chick wiggled free of his grasp. The man turned to fire at her. In a desperate move Angel once again used her talent to harm. She froze the robber solid, with his hand in the register and the other holding a gun up to fire. Wonder how they were going to explain how a guy is an ice statue in the middle of May, in a small town in the Florida everglades.
The bikers stared in shocked disbelief as she ran out the door. Angel was shaking, oh god I did it again. He was going to kill the biker girl though, was what she did good or bad she was confused. That’s when she realized she heard sirens. Oh shit they’ll ship me back to my father, because I’m still a minor. She rounded a corner and hid behind a trashcan.
She heard an engine, and prayed it wasn’t the police. She peeked out from behind the dumpster to find Zartan staring at her. “Get On!” he ordered. She blinked at him in surprise, was he serious. “Look the cops are coming, if they catch you you’ll either go to jail or back to whatever it is your running from” he said “so get on and lets get out of here” he said
She had nowhere else to go, she didn’t quite trust him but he was better than the alternative. She climbed on behind him and put her arms around his waist. Zartan pulled out of the alleyway changed their appearance, and drove off into the night. They switched to some sort of swamp craft, then some time later they pulled up in front of some decrepit looking buildings.
There were three of them surrounding a small pond. They pulled up in front of the cabins and stopped. The others were getting off their water bike thingy’s. They started heading for the cabins. She slowly climbed off from behind Zartan, and stood there staring for a few moments. Zartan climbed off behind her grinning, she had been clinging to him for dear life. He had taken those corners a bit fast deliberately, just to see how she would react; his ribs were now protesting that action. It had been a while since a beautiful young woman had clung to him so, he enjoyed it actually.
He watched her for a few moments; she was certainly a bit of a mystery. The boys had insisted that we pick her up. He had almost said no, but they were adamant about it. Including his sister. He shook his head in amusement. First time the Dreadnoks agreed on anything, a point in her favor. Besides she just might be useful, in spite of himself he liked her.
He started to walk towards the cabins, and then paused. She was still standing by the skimmers staring. He smiled don’t tell me she’s scared. “Well are you coming in?’ he said grinning at her. “Or were you planning on sleeping out here?” he teased. The Dreadnoks were all lounging around now, watching her and their leader. Zarana laughed, “maybe you scared her bro.”She said, “ Maybe she’s shy”, Teased another “what’s’ your name kid” asked the blond. “Maybe we should just call her snowflake,” said the dark haired one laughing. “What is she a dog?” said Zandar “We might as well call her fluffy” said the one with the beard “oh yeah that strikes a chord of fear” said the one with glasses. They all were laughing now.
“My name is Angel,” she said rising to their baits. Then mentally kicking her self for doing so. “Aawww!!! She does have a voice,” said another. She ignored that one not willing to let them do it a second time. Instead she asked, “So what are your guys’ names?” They froze midlaugh, caught off guard by the question. Zartan smiled kid was good, he thought sitting on the rail of his porch.
“Well don’t everyone talk at once?” she teased them this time. “I’m Buzzer," said the blond, “this is Ripper," he said pointing at the dark haired one. “Torch” said the one with the beard then lit a cigarette with a blowtorch. “I’m Zarana,” said the pink haired woman. “You’ve already met my brothers, Zandar and Zartan. Zandar gave Angel a short salute like wave when she introduced him. “Zartan?” said Angel “that would be me” came a voice from the porch.
“Oh, ok” she responded, “Zartan is our leader, and my brother” said Zarana. “Welcome to the Dreadnoks” said Torch grinning at her. “Hey if she’s gonna stick around we should give her a new name” said Buzzer. "Yeah Angel sounds too goody two shoes” said Ripper. They started throwing names back and forth, an argument quickly in sued.
