Troika chap 3
Storming around the room wasn’t helping, nor was sitting in silence, the only thing that kept her from breaking the blue mans fool neck was the paycheck she was waiting for. Her legal funds were all nice and good but she had to leave them be until she absolutely needed them or else agencies like G.J. or the US Treasury Department would be all over her claiming moneys she inherited and paid taxes on as their own. Sometimes the way the world worked to screw people over suited her, other times, like now, were not so suitable. Drakken locked himself in his lab after they landed not even sparing a single insult, she guessed he was pissed and then some over her spoiling his shot but as she had made expressly clear on the flight to the lair, Kim was hers. He looked confused when she added that Ron was also hers but all confusion washed away from his features when she made it undeniably clear that if she caught him trying something so foolish again he wouldn’t need to worry about prison. Dead people get put underground or in those stupid concrete mausoleums he had such a fascination with, not prison.
Angrily flopping down on her unusual bed Shego tried to relax, to calm herself but that was proving far more difficult than she expected. She was utterly horrified that Drakken pitched his normal scheming out the window and opted for the ‘caveman’ approach of just shooting Kim. She asked if he planned to knock off Stoppable as well only to receive an indifferent shrug, which pissed her off to the point she broke his nose, again. For a long moment she wanted to scream her frustration but that would only end up leaving her with a sore throat and a bunch of people, mostly henchmen who were ordinarily frightened of her, brave enough to challenge her or stupid enough to tell her to shut up. She cast a glance to the wall clock and regretted it, if it hadn’t been for Drakken she would be dealing with the situation between Kim Ron and herself just then but now … now that was impossible. There was no way G.J. or anyone of the dozen or so official and unofficial gov agencies would be caught off guard now, and she couldn’t blame them since Drakken actually wounded someone in his attempt.
She cringed at that, her hatred of guns was irrational at best and the knowledge that because of her someone got hurt by a gun made her stomach flip unpleasantly. Thinking about the weapon dark thoughts invaded her mind. Brief flashes of terror, a feeling she rarely admitted to sent a chill across her skin. Long buried memories assailed her, shadows of her lost past surfaced. Screams of anger, of rage, the smell of alcohol, a sound loud as thunder as horrifying as death then silence and the smell of spent powder, the smell of blood. Then she was back in that moment, the instant Drakken’s finger tensed around the trigger. The sound would not leave her ears and the only thing that kept her from breaking down was the fact that she managed to prevent the thing from being used on Kim or Ron.
Thinking about Kim lead her to thoughts of the other person in the odd situation they found themselves in. She snorted to herself as she remembered how things changed that night in the storage room of Drakken’s Mediterranean lair. Drakken was testing his latest tinker toy when Kimmie and Ron showed up as expected but this time when Drakken ran away Kim took off after him and left her standing there with ‘the sidekick’, she thought it would have hurt a bit less had Kim just run off but Kim made sure she could hear clearly.
“You stay and keep her busy Ron, I’ll get Drakken.” Shego frowned as she heard that, she wasn’t any happier to hear what came next, “That’s miles upon miles of bad road KP, shouldn’t I …” “No Ron not this time.” Shego stepped to the top rail of the banister surrounding the control room and watched as Ron nodded gave her his stupid grin and thumbs up before the red head ran off in pursuit. She made ready to leap down to the lower area they were in when Ron coughed to get her attention. He made the wind up motions of a pitcher throwing for a major game and let fly with a pink blur. She knew the pink thing was the rat and that whatever Ron threw it at had to have been important, exactly how important she only found out after she committed to the jump. About half way to the ground the lights went out, she should have guessed they would go for the lights it was the obvious easy stall. It would have been a fatal action for anyone else, landing in pitch black from three stories up was no mean feat but Shego wasn’t ‘anyone else’. When it came to just fighting she could see plenty well in pitch black the only time she needed enhanced vision was when lasers were involved. She really hated lasers, the damned lipstick laser Kim carried cured her of any interest in the damned things real quick.
Ron heard her land a few feet away and readied himself. Shego was the most dangerous person he knew short of Kim and, quite possibly the only woman other than Kim he had ever really found an interest in. Kim was the strong good girl, Shego the tough as nails bad girl and he thought them a perfect match. He knew she could easily slip past him if he let his guard down but he got the impression she was content to face him for however long it lasted. It still creeped him out to a degree but he was learning the finer elements of his mystic abilities, sensing ones opponent proved very useful once he figured out how it worked. Standing still and taking a slow breath he felt the room around him and brushed against the fiery spirit he was after. It wasn’t telepathy or the like, he could just ‘feel’ her and when he did in this blackness his minds eye washed her in vivid greens that outlined the blacks of her uniform. Apparently there was more to the colour choice than just a penchant for green. She was moving slowly around him so he opted to keep up his act and started groping around as if he couldn’t see.
Shego smirked in the darkness as she watched the sidekick flail around groping for whatever might turn up in front of him. ‘Fine fine, I’ll deal with the dweeb and go Kimmie hunting after.’ She thought before stepping around his wandering arms. With a wicked grin gracing her face she danced around him tapping his shoulder on one pass his forearm on another, teasing him with her silent skill. She opted to reserve her best for Kim, the sidekick never presented a real challenge by himself he was just damned lucky. She wouldn’t waste her moves on this goofball. She scowled as she thought about his red haired partner who wasn’t paying her the attention she desired anymore. She didn’t blame Kim for holding a grudge but it was beginning to affect their fighting lives which annoyed her. “So Stoppable,” She hissed on one pass by, “Kimmie get tired of dancing with me or is she just scared?” She knew Kim would never be scared of her but taunting with the absurd was a good distraction. Drawing back she considered charging her fist with her power deciding against it, only because Ron wasn’t worthy of her best.
Side skipping to her left she dashed forward expecting to land a solid punch to his jaw and put him down so she could move on to the real fight, she was met with a surprise that made her re-evaluate things for the first time in regards to the blonde. Seriously re-evaluate. She expected to catch him completely off guard instead he turned to face her and just as her fist drew close to her mark he screeched for all the world like some damned monkey, wasn’t he afraid of those? It completely derailed her leaving him free to deflect her fist with his forearm and deliver a counter strike of his own. Staggered briefly by the shot to her ribs she hopped backwards a few steps and caught her breath. “When the hell did you get good Stoppable?” She knew he was more than just a goofball she just didn’t see the need to admit it until now.
“Been this way for a while Shego, we only just started to really need to resort to it.” He smiled into the darkness enjoying the fact that someone other than Monkey Fist actually acknowledged his skill. It didn’t hurt that she also remembered his name, even if she just used his last name to talk to him.
“Well shit it looks like I might get to have some fun after all, I bet you break easier than Pumpkin though.” She jumped forward and threw out a quick series of short jabs which she used to gauge his level of skill. Up till now she had no real reason to find out, Kim dealt with her and he dealt with Drakken. She liked the former arrangement as it kept everything in a nice balance. As each shot was deflected or taken with a pained grunt she advanced her opinion of the blonde doof up considerably. His fighting style was surprisingly similar to Fists, she never really put any credit to what the monkey-loving weirdo said about Ron but she was having to rethink that as well now. She would never have expected the scrawny boy to this damn strong and quick.
Ron chuckled before she launched her attack, it was all he had time to do before she was throwing a lightning barrage of punches at him. Without really thinking about it he let himself flow with the rhythm her moves came at, blocking where he could and taking what he had to until he saw an opening and kicked out at her right shin. She yelped and hopped back into the blackness surrounding them and he focused on sensing her again. This time he let his senses examine her aura more closely, he could feel her anger and the taste of bitterness she wore like a mantle but underneath he felt there was much more. He could see the hints of blackness Drakken cast over her and wondered how long she could hold out against his madness. “Why are you still taking orders from Drakken Shego? Your talents are wasted on the likes of him. I mean c’mon you’ve been demoted to second class threat, something the ‘sidekick’ gets to mop up for fun.” He heard her growl in outrage before he began evading a punishing sequence of attacks and he made note, she still hadn’t fired up her hands. She wasn’t going full out with him like she did with Kim which was something he was glad for honestly because he was still learning to deal with the skills he was granted by that damned monkey magic. If she put her all into the fight, she would have shredded him in short order.
Shego bobbed around on the balls of her feet as she stretched a bit and limbered up properly. She was always ready for a fight but she was more used to taking on Kim who presented a much different challenge than Ron. Where Kim would take an aggressive approach to their fights Ron let her make all the initiating moves and responded with stunning blows at every opportunity, it was really beginning to piss her off which surprised her yet again. She dropped into a ready stance and watched the blonde acting like he couldn’t see, she knew he was faking that now for certain. He was actually going to be a challenge to deal with and she found herself smiling at the prospect. Only Kim challenged her before now. She stepped in and lashed out with another sequence of thrusts jabs and kicks watching closely as he contorted himself around as many as he could. His screeching was beginning to annoy her but she had to admit it fit the style and he was very good at it. If he kept up like this for much longer she might actually have to consider using her plasma, there was no way Drakken would hold off Kim for long and she wanted to dance with her Princess at least once before the lair got blown to bits.
Sensing she was getting frustrated and ready to kick things up a notch Ron decided to go for broke and made a wild leap at her. He shrieked like the wildest of monkeys he ever encountered and lunged at her. Unable to see her in the darkness he let his senses guide him, he was rewarded by latching on to her in a tight hug. She screamed in outrage and embarrassment as he held on for dear life knowing if she got free, he was a dead man. He latched his legs around her waist and hugged her close keeping her arms pinned safely at her side as she twisted jumped and generally thrashed around trying to dislodge him. She still hadn’t lit her trademark fire.
Furious at the audacity he displayed by jumping her like that Shego reluctantly admitted to herself, dammit, it worked. She could not shake the blonde fuck. Looking him directly in the eyes was a simple matter since his hug put them face to face, up close and personal like. Her night vision gave her a unique view of the world around her, human eyes are most sensitive to green light and everywhere she went she emitted a soft green glow. She learned early on how to use it to let her see under even the darkest of conditions and suspected her meteor induced alterations amped up her vision even further allowing her to see equally well under most conditions. She could tell he was as embarrassed as she was angered but she knew he wasn’t stupid enough to let go right then. It was time for the dirty tactics. “Does Kimmie let you hold her like this?” He blinked rather loudly over that, unsure of exactly how to respond when she delivered the next round. “You really should at least buy a girl a few drinks before trying to get this close y’know.” He laughed nervously this time, she was getting to him and she knew it. “I say we make Princess watch, she might learn a thing or two.” As she twisted and rubbed against him, she leaned in making to kiss him, to his utter disbelief she pinched his butt playfully and he all but fell off her in shock. Seizing the moment to take her advantage back she spun and lashed out with a heel intent on forcing him back instead she realized he was still in a daze and wasn’t paying attention. Her foot struck, hard, when she followed through and regained her footing he was already in a heap a few feet away. His arm was bent at a sickening angle about mid bicep. “Oh Shit!”
Shego dropped down and rolled Ron over as carefully as she could trying to ignore his agonized moans as his arm was shifted around. Without the proper gear she knew his arm would be in danger of permanent damage and they were a long way from anything remotely proper. Ron opened his eyes and stared up at her in fear, she could tell he thought she was about to finish him off because she had seen that look before. “Don’t move I need to find something to make you a splint” She turned and dug into the small pouch on her calf pulling out her emergency aide kit. She kept some of the best medicines and antitoxins she could find close at hand after learning that being in Drakken’s employ meant routine exposure to things which often required the medicines antidotes and assorted emergency supplies in her kit. She set the kit beside him and held up a hand which flashed to life with her fiery glow. Looking around quickly she spotted a chair that would make for a good splint. She would curse her luck many times but never more heartfelt than at this moment because as she knelt there hand ablaze over Ron, Kim came bounding in.
One look at Ron and Kim knew something was seriously wrong. She could see his arm lying at odd angles and Shego hovering over him with her hand alight as if ready to strike him down. She felt a rage surge up from within she never expected and launched herself at the green skinned woman. Before she could lay a hand on Shego Ron stopped her. Even in his condition he managed to stand and step between the women almost taking Kim’s strongest hit for his troubles. She stopped and listened, she wanted to deny what he was saying but after she managed to find the light switch Kim could tell he was right. Shego was scared, she could see it clear as day. “Ok what exactly happened?” She would give Shego one chance to explain, if the explanation didn’t satisfy her Shego would find herself with a matching broken arm, maybe two.
Ron lay back down again gave her the general rundown instead. He gave Shego a wink that made the green woman’s eye twitch and Kim scowl. He figured if it weren’t for his broken arm Kim might have kicked him. “It was my fault Kim, head wasn’t in the game and she got me. She was looking for a splint when you came in.” He didn’t think it wise to elaborate on exactly why his head wasn’t in the game, Kim might well break his other arm if he did.
“Hey you guys, we need to get moving,” Shego reached for her medi-kit and pointed Kim to the chair. “Break that and we’ll make a splint for him.” Kim dropped the ready to fight stance she took when Shego started opening the kit and did as instructed. “Where did you leave Drakken Princess?”
Kim snorted as she snapped the wooden legs loose. “Hanging by his underwear three rooms over. Totally not my fault.” He was the one who tried using the glue bazooka while hanging from the crane hook. “Here.” She dropped the legs at Shego’s side and took her mutlitool from her utility pouch. With a few quick snips of the scissors, Kim freed enough of her sleeve to rip it off then rip it another time for the chord they would need to tie the splint in place. She watched as Shego fiddled with something in her hand and waited for Kim to finish. “What’s that?”
“Trauma level two dose of morphine.” Shego replied nervously. “He is going to be in agony for a long time, but for the moment we need to try and set his arm. As it is right now its swelling and he is tense, too tense to set the bone without causing him lots more pain, this will make things easier. If, that is, you’re ok with it.” She held the small tube out for Kim to look at. It was exactly what she claimed. She never went anywhere without some very strong medicines. Drakken’s jobs made such things a requirement on almost every occasion. “I broke an arm early on ok? We were stuck out in that damn swamp for a week before I could get us out and Drakken isn’t exactly handy in a medical emergency.” Kim was looking at her oddly. “Field emergency kit” She held up the universally marked med-kit.
Kim looked at Ron who was keeping his eyes tightly closed. She knew he was in serious pain but keeping very quiet about it for some reason. She wasn’t as surprised as she expected to be, they both expected to run out of ‘luck’ eventually and get hurt badly and she expected him to act a bit more childish if it happened to him. “Go on.” She wasn’t entirely sure why she trusted Shego but she did. Perhaps it was because the pale green woman was actually worried about someone else instead of herself for a change. She watched as Shego pressed the syringe to Ron’s thigh running its short needle though his jeans, a few moments later he relaxed into the drug induced stupor. “Ok let’s see if we can set his arm and get the splints in place.”
Thirty minutes later Shego carefully examined their handiwork and smiled grimly. Under the circumstances things could be worse for Ron, his partner at least was concerned for his well being. She stole a quick glance at Kim and noticed the concern etched on her face but it was directed to a different target. She couldn’t allow that to go on. “He being good to you princess?” She knew that would keep Kim on edge and give her the chance to get away but she couldn’t explain why she really wanted to hear the answer as well.
Kim smiled and nodded, “Always has been, Shego what happened?” She didn’t doubt Ron but she had to hear it from Shego herself before she would accept that it was truly an accident.
Shego looked at the blonde happily drugged to the gills before her. “He was being noble or some shit ok Possible? Trying to spare your feelings I guess. He had me …. pinned, so I did what I do …”
Kim cocked her head slightly and arched an eyebrow.
“Played dirty Princess.” Shego couldn’t resist the slight smirk.
“OOOOOh so it wasn’t that his head wasn’t in the game but that he had more than one head calling the shots eh?” Kim smirked in return as she enjoyed the astounded face Shego had on just then. Looking Shego over very closely, since she had the chance just then, Kim smiled at the fact she was almost intimately familiar with Shego’s lithe sensuous form. “I guess I can understand why he might get distracted if you were to hit below the belt.”
Shego had to shake her head, if she didn’t know better she would have sworn Kimberly Ann Possible, straight shooting card carrying superhero just ‘checked her out’ and apparently liked what she saw. Desperate to change topics Shego blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “Since when did he get so good?” She slapped a green gloved hand over her face as she heard the words spill out. She meant his fighting but from the nova bright glare Kim wore in her blush Shego knew it wasn’t heard as intended.
Kim smirked under her blush as she sat back and got a bit more comfortable. “He got a lot more complicated after … that night. Shego … I’m sorry ok.”
Shego blinked, “For what Princess?” What the hell was going on now?
Kim looked at Ron as Shego fidgeted with something in her leg pouch. “I finally got the chance to read the court recording transcript of your Little Diablo trial. Why didn’t you say something?”
Shego scowled deeply and clenched her fist around the small remote she pulled from her leg pouch. “I … I’m not ready to answer that Pumpkin. Besides, you need to get going you only have five minutes to get him out of here before this place gets blasted to bits.” Shego stood and turned to head down the hall to where Kim said she left Drakken.
“Shego …” Kim barely got the word out before she saw the older woman hold out a hand and push a small button on the device the hand held. The same instant a claxon began wailing and a synthesized voice spoke out declaring five minutes until the lair self-destruct sequence was completed, she then lit the fire she commanded and destroyed the device preventing it from being used to deactivate the sequence. Shego started walking again only to hear Kim call her name once more. “Shego wait.”
Shego felt Kim tap her shoulder and turned to look at the younger woman. Kim was holding her hand out curled around something small. When she held out her own Kim dropped a small locket in her cupped palm. “What the fuck? You can’t expect me to take this Kimmie? It’s probably bugged …”
Without a second glance Kim turned and headed to Ron leaning down to grab the straps of the sled she and Shego rigged to make it easier for her to get him to the beach. “It is bugged Shego, but they only work if there’s a charged battery in it. Just keep it for now and check it out when you get the chance, ok?” Shego looked at the small bit of elegant gold, clenching her fist she just nodded and took off down the service corridor. Kim nodded to herself and leaned into the load she carried. She admitted frequently Ron could be a burden at times but she didn’t mind in the least because she knew he would always be there for her.
Shego held the small gold locket at eye level. She hadn’t opened it since she got the thing. Kim, as expected, told the truth, the battery was gone from the bug. A simple multispec scan in the r&d lab proved that conclusively. She hoped if there were pictures inside they hadn’t been damaged by her paranoid examinations. She had been confident it was some kind of trap by the red headed pest. Curiosity finally got the better of her and she caught the small pendant in her fingers. Expertly slipping her bladed talon into the fine seam of the locket, she pried it open and instantly snorted rudely. One frame held a black and white of Stoppable acting the fool in miniature the other Kim looking particularly pleased with herself. With a frustrated sigh she closed the delicate jewelry, she knew Kim couldn’t have had it long and wondered why she parted with it so easily. In their line of work the pretty things tended to get abused, often, which was why she never wore her finer things on the clock. She hadn’t managed to make her billions with her social skills after all.
Thinking of her legitimate funding only brought a further bit of frustration to her mind, if her gut was right she would need to lay way low for a long time over this last stunt of Drakken’s. People generally don’t take well to madmen taking pop-shots at their precious idols. Kim being the global darling goodie-goodie she was meant there was going to be a price paid it was only a matter of time and place. Sighing in mute agitation, she set the locket on her jewel case alongside the rings her parents wore. She claimed to only hold on to them for the gold but Wego knew better. A pair of the pair managed to corral her right after the last Aviarius affair and gave her the necklace their mother wore. Hego was selling off things to restore the tower and they knew she would want this. She would have burnt their asses for stealing from their elder brother but she had something in her eye and they escaped.
Tired and unwilling to deal with any of it any further until after a shower Shego marched to her door and keyed the lock before she began disrobing. Drakken learned to knock but the fluctuating henchman crew meant it was possible some moron might walk in, she didn’t want to have to clean up a corpse before taking her shower so she locked the door. Within minutes she was luxuriating under one of the nicer sides of her profession. Ample hot water was written into her contract.
Drakken wasn’t very happy with what he was seeing via the remote roach cam. He steered the miniscule spy creature towards the golden bauble hoping Shego left it open enough his insect servant could get a decent peak inside. As the image resolved into finer detail with each closing step Drakken could feel the tension mounting. He knew something was off with his hired help, the coded invitation alone was proof but her disruption of a perfectly good murder attempt was poor form. Just when he thought his questions were to go unanswered, the locket was tightly shut, something dark moved across his sensory range and the world upended. He heard a loud shriek and saw the locket bounce off the floor splitting open to reveal its contents for a split second. A moment’s fraction in time seared into his memory because at that instant Shego stepped on the remote roach. He knew this because he felt ‘his’ brains squirt out his nostrils. There were some drawbacks still to be worked out of the remote roach but he got the final piece of the puzzle he had been ignorant of, that was all that mattered.
Rubbing angrily at his nose trying to remove the remnant ‘ghost’ sensations and odors held over from the gruesome end his remote roach met, he deactivated the skullcap ‘halo’ sensor array, he really should work that feedback glitch out before using it again. The sensations could be most … unpleasant. He waited only a few moments before removing the halo that linked his mind to the machine directing the remote roach, he needed to be sure the brief glimpse he thought he got was real or cyber trauma induced. His neuro-scanner whirred and hummed ominously as crunched the trillions of calculations a second required to translate the jumbled chaos of human thought into digital copy. Once the insanely complicated process was complete however, he would be able to add this new chapter to his mental index and access it with no more difficulty than turning a page in a book. Drew Theodore Lipsky, mad genius and would be global conqueror would not be able to remember to tie his shoes if he hadn’t spent the time necessary to create the mem-dex. A few too many zaps from the old Tesla coil left his short-term memory in shambles and the medications that kept him from losing the fight with the radical cancer tinting him blue did nothing for his long term memory.
Once he realized the affect his work was having on his fragile human form he undertook two major efforts. First, he created the mem-dex memory and persona archiver to preserve his genius for all time then he began the work on his more durable synthetic body. Constant ‘synchings’ between the memory archives and the flesh component added a new wrinkle to his problems inducing a heavy case of schizophrenia. He knew he was suffering from Ego dissolution but he had systems in place to deal with that issue when it fully manifested. He recognized the symptoms for what they were right off, with so much of himself stored ‘offsite’ and the constant interlace and synching with the digital simulation of his brain he felt shattered any time he was completely disconnected. His ‘super-ego’ the part of him that was the end result of his life experiences was in a near constant state of flux stemming from the feedback issues the synching initiated. In time the process would damage his mind to the point he would need a complete reformat and rewrite. It wouldn’t be the first and he doubted it would be the last. At least there was some benefit to the damages done, for starters it was much easier to compile the vast amounts of data he collected into something usable that could be scanned for patterns leading to his ultimate goal of global conquest. It was in exactly this manner he formulated the plan that came closest to achieving his goals.
The model he and the simulation of himself produced was based on a set of assumed factors and variables, which he laboured extensively to refine and perfect, it’s key to success lay in Shego as he based all of his calculations using her mind as a reference point. Anything her sharp intellect could not see past was sure to defeat Kim Possible. At the time of his defeat and from then until this very day he still had not figured out how Kim and the buffoon escaped and beat so brilliant a scheme but the picture locked away in the small golden charm dropped the missing piece into place. Now all that was left to do was crunch through the scenarios and find one that would do what he needed done, namely bring about the death of Kim Possible and Shego. If his assumption was right, and he had a strong feeling it was, he would have to kill Shego. Killing Kim would put Shego in a bad mode and he wasn’t interested in returning to that. His first encounter with her bad mode came after an ill-advised ‘hitting on her’ attempt. She informed him then she was a rabid bull-dyke lesbian after he swatted her butt and made a pass at her, snorting to himself he acknowledged he should have realized something was up after Shego met Kim. Up till that point Shego was undefeated but now the ‘most dangerous woman’ on earth got her ass, cute and plump as it might be, handed to her regularly by a teenage vigilante with tits so perky they could cut glass better than a diamond edged cutter, he had no trouble admitting he was a pervert. He never passed the chance to look Kim over in fine detail and again he snorted to himself, Shego too had spent many an hour just staring at Kim after tying the young woman up.
He heard a digital cough and recognized that his digital duplicate required his input once more so with a mildly bored sigh he donned the halo again. Instantly his mind was assaulted, every experience he ever had screamed across his minds eye at a speed that would give even Kim’s smartass geek pause. While Drakken was used to the sensation it was not one a person could ever claim to enjoy. Moments of existence, a lifetime of memory and experience, intellect and emotion all the things that made Drakken ‘Drakken’ rehashed themselves as the halo-synch was completed. For however long it lasted he felt himself complete, linked as he was his mind was augmented in an odd fashion. The digital side of who he was now ran through every possible scenario, all the failed plots, everything he had done since taking on the villainy mantle and cross-compared them against all the collected data on his adversaries. Once the compilation was complete, the massive external brain began random plot generation based on the variable, every now and again the codefall slowed to the speed of an organic mind as it scanned or added data to his flesh brain. With each passing concept his frustration grew and the number of viable options diminished.
Being wireless the halo didn’t restrict him to the main room with his mem-dexer so Drakken decided to take a stroll through the lair. They would be leaving before the sun came up and he wanted to spend a few minutes enjoying the place. The Caribbean lair was the most comfortable of all his private holdings and fortunately as an inheritance piece with historic value for the small island nation it was on the lair would remain his until he fulfilled his mission or was killed in the attempt. As he entered his functional lab he let his mind wander, at least the part not being put to use by the mem-dexer and plot generator. Something clicked as he saw the bucket of Eric, he had Shego steal the synthodrones remains from G.J. so he could keep some facet of it. Eric was one of his better creations unlike the mechanical witches head lying on the bench a few meters away. The Bebe project was a spectacular failure almost across the board but he had to take note of the area they succeeded in. They became fully autonomous long before he expected, admittedly because of Kim Possible but none the less they forged their own path. Which lead them right back into his eager hands. Before he could register the nagging thoughts the bucket of Eric and Bebe head were nudging at the mem-dex alerted him letting him know it was finished with its task.
Instead of making the trek back to the main console room he sent the mental trigger to the mem-dexer that would shunt all its visual and audio data to the room he occupied. As soon as he saw the results his scowl deepened. It was a variation of this exact same code that produced what he considered his greatest achievement to date so he was understandably ticked at the lack luster numbers it presented. The plot the mem-dex helped him develop came closest of all to besting his nemesis because it kept her in the dark. That trick wouldn’t work a second time because she would see it outright. He amended that thought, in light of his discovery, even if she missed every detail until it was too late Kim would win … because Shego was helping her. Right now with that set of data incorporated Drakken could see things would be even worse. He never went with a plan the mem-dex produced that had odds at or below seventy five percent in his favour, the odds of the Little Diablo affair were at the highest he ever came across, eighty five percent. Those odds were good enough he should have won then and there but something prevented that.
Thinking it over Drakken called up both his memories of the final hours factoring in the new information, when he got to the surveillance footage of that night he saw something that had not registered until just then. Shego searched Ron then Kim but some time later the rodent thing showed up and put Kim’s laser to use. Shego left the laser, he realized, and whatever else they may have been carrying. “Damnable green eyed bitch.” He cursed in the privacy of his personal lab knowing it was the only place Shego could neither hear him nor would enter without being expressly told to. Because of her even the plots and schemes he considered most likely to work without question dropped to very low percentages for success. Furious at himself for missing what Shego was doing as well as being beyond furious with Shego Drakken snatched the nearest thing he could off the workbench. The Bebe head hit the wall with a solid smack leaving it stuck for a moment in the dent it made.
Gravity, being persistent, pulled the mechanical head from its new mount but Drakken wasn’t paying it any further attention. When he heard it splut he thought he might ought to have paid closer attention, he didn’t see where it fell because he was lost in a mental tirade that exploded into an audible one from time but that splut sound made him turn back to it. He looked for several seconds but did not see the severed robotic head anywhere, then he looked at what was most directly below the dent and winced. He got some Bebe in his Eric goo. When he went to fish the head out of the bucket of goop he had to stop, the mem-dexer hit on something in what he was looking at. Some how a part of Eric’s containment suit, a part where his eye should have been, covered over the BB head. The mem-dexer hit him with thousands of new scenarios and, as before, slowed down when it hit something requiring his conscious input only with each passing synch the scheme narrowed until he hit a small snag.
After fishing the mechanical head from the goo Drakken attached it to a power source and let it run its system checks and diagnostic. He was greeted with a typically cold mechanical stare as he waited for the Bebe to assimilate the program it was built around. “Hello Bebe, can we talk?”
“Bebes must comply in the current situation.” The Bebe seed mind was kicking in and she tried all the tricks she was programmed with as well as all the tricks he could come up with as well as Shego’s input but she was unable to access anything beyond the room she woke in. To her displeasure, she heard the voice she hoped would never grace her mics again.
Drakken smiled in victory, the Bebe was going to willingly help him this time, he would make sure of that. “I could have toldja you that wouldn’t work and saved you a lot of time my dear Bebe.” Without giving the A.I. a chance to process, he continued on as he walked in circles. “I understand your desire for perfection, I did create you after all, right?” He asked and paused waiting for the mecha to acknowledge, upon hearing so he finished. “I have the secret to the perfection you’re after and I will gladly give it to you if you will help me.” It was a daring gambit but he knew he held the winning hand. Again the machine intelligence acknowledged him, “All I want from you for the secret to perfection is help creating a set of new synthodrones …” Drakken waited only long enough for the machine to answer its affirmation before he started walking off, “Good I will go collect the things I need while you make a list of the things you need. I’ll be back in an hour.”
Once back in the old lab he made straight for the drawer he knew held the objects of his quest. One was slightly charred the other undamaged but he didn’t need the devices to work he just needed the unique code embedded to access the real important stuff he collected with those chips. After a moments pause to let the mem-dexer do its thing he smiled in ecstasy, for the very first time his plot generation matrix had a scheme that reached the ninety percent range. The mem-dexer made a single alteration and the plot hit the highest he would ever consider viable, ninety-five percent. It only took him a few minutes to work out the details with the Bebe, this time he was almost assured to come out the victor. After getting over the initial giddiness he let out a long squeal of delight before setting to work. It had only taken the mem-dexer a full minute to convince the Bebe to help and the Bebe was duly impressed though its mechanical features could not display that.
