Chapter Three.
It was a week after the last set of ten Joes were laid to rest in their graves when the medical report came in stating that they were all poisoned by a deadly poison, one that didn’t have an antidote to. The head of homeland security was not pleased that their best fighting force the G.I. Joes were killed so fast and without knowing who their killer was. Even the surveillance tapes didn’t give much evidence of who entered the base. All it showed was one new chef entering but the camera started to fuzz which didn’t give them a good look at the new chef’s face at all and that was it of those people who came to the base and nothing till Lifeline returned to the base. They tried to figure out of the remains of the chefs who was the new one but that chef wasn’t even the one that was dead. The blood tests to find out what killed them wouldn’t be back for at least a week since it was a homicide, they wanted to know what killed them within a matter of minutes.
“I don’t care how long it takes to find out who slew that team but I want to find out who slew the best team we had in fighting any terrorist organization!” The head of homeland security roared.
“Sir, before the team was killed, I had gathered some new members and hadn’t the chance to call them to report to base. I have at least ten new members, which could help rebuild the team.” Hawk stated.
“Very well, at least you have a back up team. But their first mission is to find out who slew the original team.” The head of homeland security stated.
Hawk closed the channel as he turned to Duke and Lifeline. “I guess I better hand you the list of the new team members and send you off to collect them. But there is one that I will go get myself knowing this one may not come willingly without knowing that the summons was ordered by me,”
“But couldn’t we tell him that you ordered us to get him?” asked Duke.
Hawk smiled slightly but it was a smile that was close to being a laughing smile. “He might be a wee bit harder to convince by you just telling him that. I have to see him myself.”
“Alright, shall we go gather the new team?” asked Lifeline.
Hawk nodded as they headed off to different parts of the United States, one of the stops was in New Orleans to pick up their martial art specialist. Duke looked at the paper work. “The first member would be found at the local dojo, code name Sting. He’s a black belt master in three different styles of martial arts and has the tattoo of a tiger on his left forearm; that would help considering we are against two ninjas – Firefly and Storm Shadow when we go against Cobra again.”
Sting was a dark brown haired young man, wearing the clothing of a ninja and walked with silent grace of a tiger. Duke didn’t even hear him walking up to him till he spoke to them.
“Hello, Sting. You have been activated to the Joe team immediately. Are you in or out?” asked Duke, turning to look at him.
Sting smiled and whispered softly. “I’m in. I want to find out who slew the original team.”
“Okay, next on the list is Compass, his specialty is reconnaissance, he has an uncanny sense of direction.” Hawk said. “He’ll prove valuable in hunting down Cobra.”
Soon, the team was assembled the members were Compass, Genius, Lightning, Wheels, Delta, Break-In, Presto and Outlaw. Hawk looked at the list and sighed. “The last one we need to get is Cyber and he’ll be the one that we will want to have on the team.”
They headed to the carport to head out to get the last member of the team. Hawk wondered if he would join the team or not. Cyber was the type of Joe that Low-Light would like as he was a loner but he did most of his job behind the scenes which was fine by him.
Meanwhile the news of the Joes’ death had hit Cobra’s ears. Serpentor was roaring his joy but he was not pleased with Mindbender for not telling him so he could gloat his plan to the Joes.
“But sire, that is how we lose the other battles we go against the Joes with. We reveal our plans to them and they know how to defeat us. I defeated the Joes because I didn’t tell anyone what I was planning on doing so no one would spoil the surprise attack on their base.” Mindbender replied.
“Sire,” spoke Destro, bowing his head to Serpentor. “Mindbender is correct. All of our previous battles with the Joes failed to defeat them because someone like Cobra Commander or you sire, would spill the plans to the Joes. This not revealing the plans had successfully succeeded where other battle plans failed.”
“The silence of telling you and the others was to make sure that this plan would succeed where the other plans have not and it has as I have killed all the Joes but two.” Mindbender stated.
“Two Joes who probably are reassembling the Joe team right now, Mindbender!” Serpentor roared, pulling out a snake from his cowl and flinging it at Mindbender who ducked the thrown snake.
“Then, maybe we should hack their computer system and find out who they are looking at to capture the newest member of the Joes?” asked Xamot.
“Agreed, brother, it is a good idea and they won’t think that we would hack their system again,” Tomax replied, looking at his brother.
Soon, they were informed about the last new recruit to the Joe team and as soon as they located where the last one was at, they headed out to intercept the Joes getting to the newest member of the Joe’s team.
