A Family Affair
Scanning it’s surroundings, the robot menace looked for it’s target, although it was a robot it was smart enough to not scan the same area twice. The artificial intelligence that Syndrome fitted it with induced it to perform at optimal levels, meaning it could adapt to any situation. Locked onto its target, the menace started to fire missiles at the police station. Syndrome’s hope was that it would destroy the station and cause the Incredible’s to show up. Detonating mines and warheads, the robot was doing it’s job well, over 1/3 of the station was in rubble.
That is until the robot was literally thrown off its feet, the culprit was none other than Mr. Incredible. Tossing aside the reject from the tin mill, Bob hoped to cause enough aggravation that the robot would focus on him instead of the police station. “Come on you piece of scum, show me what you got.”
Firing missile upon missile, the robot was analyzing the amount of time it would take to destroy the obstacle. Dodging the missiles as best as he could, Bob tried to return them to the robot. It caused mixed results, although he accomplished his goal, the missiles failed to stop the robot menace. ‘I knew it wasn’t going to be that easy, but a man could hope can’t he?’
The robot tried a different tactic; it used its massive arms to capture the superhero and tried to squeeze the hero to death. Unfortunately for the robot, it’s armed seemed to freeze over. “Frozone! Nice to see you pal. Good work!”
“Same to you buddy, another robot? I thought we kicked their butt awhile ago?”
“You know how they are, never can stay dead.” Breaking the hold of the robot, Bob shattered the robot’s frozen arms. “It seems weak to your ice buddy, could you coat the whole thing?”
“No problem, I’ll make sure it feels an artic winter.”
Freezing the entire robot, Frozone drew from the massive lake for all his water needs. “Thanks for the help, I think I can handle it from here.” Charging at the frozen device, Bob launched himself into the air and performed a shoulder charge that decimated the whole robot. Parts rained down and took out cars and windows, taking that as their cue to leave both Frozone and Bob went in search of a place to change.
With the menace defeated, the police officers could pick up the pieces, but the citizen’s were not wholly satisfied with the job the hero’s had done. “They ruined my car, it just had 3 weeks to pay off. Where are they?”
“Stop with the whining, your life would be gone without them.”
“But…”
“No buts! You know that your life is more important than a stupid car, don’t you Frank?”
“Yes, honey.”
“That’s better.”
When Bob and Frozone were done, they met in a café across from the local hardware store. “Another robot, what do you think about this Bob?”
“I don’t know, but it can’t be good. Thanks for the help by the way.”
“No problem what are friends for? Plus it got me to wear the suit again, I love that thing.”
“Yeah…I think Syndrome is back.”
“If I didn’t just fight a 80 foot robot I would disagree, but I just did so I have only one thing to say, How?”
“No idea, but somehow he survived, he must be going after the city trying to lure my family and me out of hiding.”
“You think so? I mean he could just be getting his jollies?”
“No he is back for only one thing, and that is revenge. I would watch out for yourself buddy, I mean it could get worse.”
“I hear that, but you got more to worry about, I mean he knows who you are.”
“I know, but I will make sure he is put in his place, this I swear.”
“Okay, well I got to go. I mean it was fun and all, but a job is waiting for me. See you soon buddy.”
“You too, make sure you watch yourself, I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
“No worries, I’ll be extremely careful.”
Watching his friend of 15 years walk away, Bob felt a foreboding sensation, ‘I know it is nothing but…I really feel like something bad is going to happen.’ Tearing after his friend, Bob tackled him, “What the heck Bob?”
“I just felt something is all, I mean it was too real for words.”
“I felt something too, could you please get off me?”
Taking his time, Bob was soon thrown off his feet by a ball of steel. “What the heck? Are you alright Bob?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, but did you get the license plate of that 18-wheeler?”
“I am so sorry, are you guys alright?”
A construction worker was standing over the two superhero’s, “What happened?”
“You saved my life buddy, I mean that construction ball almost took out my head.”
“I did?”
“Yep, I mean good work man, I can’t believe you survived that. I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that the controls just went haywire on me.”
“It’s alright, it happens.”
“I am so sorry, let me get the foreman, he’ll know what to do. You just lie back sir.”
Racing back the way he came, the construction worker soon returned with a aged individual, “Are you alright sir?”
“I am a little banged up but nothing too serious, are you the foreman?”
“No, I am the owner of the construction company, Al has just informed me of the situation. I am sorry for my employee’s mistakes, I will make amends. I wish to offer you a settlement package. Something along the lines of 10 million dollars, in check or cash however you would like it.”
“That is awfully generous of you sir, but I don’t think it is necessary.”
“Nonsense, if that will not do then I can offer you 40 million, I mean anything, please just don’t sue my company.”
“As I have said sir, I don’t need your money, I am fine. I will not sue, it is not my style.”
“I understand, but in case you change your mind the money will be wired to your account.”
“Sir, how do you know about my account?”
“I asked my advisors to check up on you, your account should be 40 million dollars bigger now.”
“Sir, I must insist that you take back your money.”
“I don’t think so young man, I believe it would save a lot of legal costs. As you are standing I assume that you are alright, but to make sure, Al take him to the hospital.”
“Yes sir.” With that, the owner walked away, ‘What the heck was that all about? What was up with that guy?’
As the owner walked away, he slowly changed from a wizened old man to a stunning young woman. ‘My last gift to you, use it well Mr. Incredible.’
Taking the superhero by the hand, Al the construction worker helped him into a car. “Don’t worry sir, I’ll get you there in time.”
“I am not in labor Al, you don’t have to rush to the hospital.”
“Well I don’t know about that, I mean with the amount of money that you now have you could get impregnated.”
“You know you are starting to get on my nerves, I mean don’t you have a job to go do?”
“Yeah, yeah. Remember to take care of yourself, and thanks again for saving my life Bob. Never going to forget it. See you man.”
Watching his friend leave, Bob felt no foreboding or ill will, ‘Guess it was just a fluke or something. Still it would be nice to actually be able to sense the future.’
Driving as fast as he was permitted, Al took Bob to the emergency room and anxiously waited for his test results. “Are you a close friend of the patient?”
“No doctor, I was the one who put him into the hospital in the first place. I am just worried about him, that is all.”
“I told you that I was fine, didn’t I Al?”
“Mr. Parr, it is good to see you again.”
“I was just gone for an hour, they had to run some tests, tests that you suggested?”
“Sorry sir, I was just trying to make amends.”
“I know, but I am alright, isn’t that right doctor?”
“Yes, but I do sense a bit of over activity in the lower right half of your brain.”
“Anything dangerous doctor?”
“Nothing that I can see, it just seems a bit more active than normal is all. I see no reason to keep you from your family.”
“Thank you doctor, and thank you Al for taking me to the hospital.”
“It is the least I can do sir, I mean it was me that slammed into you.”
“I am fine Al, I suggest you head back to the construction site.”
“The boss said I was supposed to make sure you were alright.”
“I am fine, so you can go back now.”
“Alright sir, but if you ever feel in need of me, this is my number.”
“Thank you Al, but I will not need it.”
“Yes, sir.”
Walking back to his car, Al hoped that he still had a job, ‘I can’t believe I lost control of the machine, I have been using it for the past 8 years. What happened?’
Watching the man leave, Bob hoisted himself off the wheelchair and walked toward the hospital’s exit. “Sir, I must insist that you sit back down.”
“Yes, Nurse.”
Being wheeled to the exit, Bob thanked the nurse and left the hospital in high spirits. That is until he saw what time it was, ‘It’s 7 already? I got to get home, with no car I guess I am taking a taxi home.’ Flagging down a taxi, Bob hoped to make it home before dinner, ‘I could really use a good meal right about now, there is much to think about.’
Arriving home, Bob paid the taxi driver and headed inside, ‘That was fast, I got home in time for dinner I think.’
Upon entering the door, Helen confronted the superhero, “Where have you been? We were worried, we saw the battle against the robot, you okay?”
“I am fine honey, I mean didn’t you see how Frozone and me beat it?”
“Yes honey, but I still was worried about you. How did the job interview go?”
“Less than perfect, but at least I got a job there, a temporary job but still a job.”
“Sounds interesting, let’s talk about this during dinner. It’s ready and on the table.”
Entering the dining area Bob and Helen discovered Dash in a force field, “Mom, Dad Help me!”
“Violet, put your brother down now.”
“He started it, I mean I was just waiting for daddy to come home.”
Releasing the energetic youngster, Dash launched himself at his father, “Where you been Dad? I mean dinner was served 30 minutes ago.”
“Was out fighting bad guys sport, how bout you?”
Sitting down at the dining table, the family started to dig into the food that Helen had prepared. “Saw you on the news Dad, nice moves against the robot.”
“Thanks Violet, but I think you and Dash would have done fine yourselves.”
“Thanks Dad, I mean the squid would have done alright.”
“Hey, I could have taken the thing down with my eyes closed.”
“I doubt it, I mean it would have beaten you down before you could even get close.”
“That’s not fair, I mean I am faster than it.”
“True, but what else you got going for you?”
“Violet! Leave your brother alone.”
“Yes, Dad. I was just proving a point.”
“Dad, I could have taken it down right?”
“I know you could have, now finish your food.”
“So Bob, where did you go after the fight?”
“Just went to a café and had some drinks.”
“Where else?”
“Oh now that’s where it gets kind of weird honey…I mean it was so strange…kind of like a dream.”
“I don’t understand, what do you mean Bob?”
“I mean I had a vision, something bad was going to happen to Frozone. I could just see it, I mean it popped right in front of my eyes.”
“But you don’t have psychic powers do you?”
“That’s what I thought, but it just happened, I couldn’t control it.”
“I understand, but is he alright?”
“Oh he’s fine, I had to save him from getting smashed by one of those home wreckers. You know those big balls of steel that decimate houses and stores, but after that is when it started to get even more strange.”
“What happened?”
“Well, since I saved Frozone, I got hit by the steel ball.”
“Are you hurt?”
“No, it’s just that the one who was in charge of the vehicle called out to me.”
“What did he want?”
“Oh he wanted to apologize for the hit to my head, I said I was fine, but he didn’t think it was good so he called his boss over.”
“Then what happened?”
“Well instead of talking to the foreman, I was talking to the owner of the wrecking company. Now this is the strange part, he offered me 10 million dollars in exchange that I don’t sue him.”
“What?!!”
“Yeah, and that’s not the best part, I said I didn’t want to accept it. Do you know what he said to me? He offered 40 million, saying that this was better than me suing him. He said that by the time tomorrow rolls around, we would be 40 million dollars richer no questions asked.”
“Bob are you telling me that you actually accepted the money?”
“I couldn’t do a thing to stop it, he already sent the order to wire the money into our account.”
“But how did he know about our account?”
“I don’t know, but he seemed to be really confident that we would be receiving the money.”
“Could he have been lying?”
“Could be, but I don’t care, I didn’t save Frozone for money. I am just amazed by the man’s kindness, or his sensitivity about getting sued.”
“So Dad, can we buy a new T.V.?”
“I don’t know sport, I mean I don’t even know if he sent the money.”
“Don’t worry about it so much Dad, if he sent it good, but if he didn’t then nothing has changed.”
“Your right honey, but I still wonder about the way he just gave his money away.”
“You know so eccentric types are like that, they throw money at strangers they meet in public.”
Shaking his head, Bob tried to get through the remainder of the meal without speaking about the strange encounter. “Everyone done? Okay, let’s all go see a movie.”
“On a school night Bob?”
“We can rent a movie Helen, it won’t be so bad. Plus, I need something to do instead of think about the things that happened today.”
“Alright, but you kid’s better go to bed straight after the movie.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Watching the movie with his family, Bob started to zone out. ‘There is no doubt about it, Syndrome is back, but what am I going to do to stop him? I mean I have to get back to the police station, or do I? I mean I have 40 million dollars…hmm…no I will go back, for all I know that man was an imposter and I am not a millionaire. There must be some way I can track Syndrome and do my job as a police officer.’
“Honey you alright?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, no problem honey, I was just thinking about how the movie was going to end.”
“I think that the warrior will find his beloved and live happily ever after.”
“Well that is one way to look at it, I mean it could also mean that the hero could lose and be forever banished from his home.”
“I doubt it is going to end that way, I mean it is a kiddy movie after all.”
“Your right, but it would be a change of pace for once.”
Snuggling into her husband, Helen tried to extract as much warmth as she could from her husband. ‘I know he is not thinking about the movie, he is thinking about the robot he destroyed in town. He must be thinking of going after Syndrome, he will deny it of course but I know that is what he will do. Why must he always do things by himself? I mean it is not like we are incapable of defeating that wacko too.’
When the movie was done, the kid’s headed upstairs while Helen and Bob cleaned up downstairs. “Where’s Jack-Jack?”
“She’s upstairs, sleeping, why don’t you check up on her?”
“Sure, I’ll do that honey. Meet you upstairs?”
“Yeah sounds good, I’ll be up in a minute.” Heading upstairs, Bob headed to his little daughter’s room. Peering inside, Bob spotted his youngest child sleeping soundly. ‘I wish I could sleep like that, I mean I always dream of either death to my family or something far worse. Ah ignorance is truly bliss.’
Heading toward Jack-Jack’s crib, Bob peered inside and found her tossing and turning. Worried about his daughter, Bob tried to calm the motions of his child, gently rocking the crib back and forth. He tried to lull her into a deeper slumber, one where she doesn’t toss and turn all night. With the tossing and turning starting to subside, Bob slowly removed his hands from the crib. Watching the young child, Bob knew he had to defeat Syndrome, he could not let that madman take away his daughter again. The last time it happened it almost killed him, he could not believe that they had found where he lived. Looking at his youngest child, Bob decided on one important thing, he would make sure that his police job would always come second to the most important, protecting his family.
Feeling that his child would be fine for the rest of the night, Bob headed to check on Dash and Violet. When he entered Dash’s room he found his son sleeping peacefully, if not a bit oddly, the boy seemed to be sleeping in a very painful position. Taking his son into his arms, Bob placed him into a position where he would not wake up with neck pains. Tucking his son in, Bob kissed him on the forehead and stepped back out the door. ‘He has grown stronger, helping his sister during that last battle. I wonder, do I really need to protect them so much anymore? I just worry, he is strong but still very young and so is Violet. I guess it is a father’s job to worry, well at least until they grow up stronger than me.’
Walking toward his eldest daughter’s room, Bob felt a wave of anxiety hit him. ‘I remember the last time I went into her room, I better just stay at the door and not let her catch me off guard.’
Knocking at the door, Bob heard a muffled “Come in.” Entering his daughter’s bedroom, Bob looked toward the bed but all he saw were stuffed animals and blankets. “Honey are you in here?”
“I am right behind you honey…” Leaping onto Bob’s back, Violet wanted a piggyback ride on her favorite man in the world. “Whoa…what you up to sweetheart?”
“Nothing much, just wanted a kiss goodnight, but I knew that you would not come any closer because of last time. So I took the initiative and got you all to myself.”
Wrapping her arms around her father, Violet gently caressed his every feature, from his rock hard chest to his washboard abs. She couldn’t get over the feeling of love she had for her father, the very touch of his skin drove her mad with passion. Turning invisible, Violet circled around her father like a lion does to its prey. Quickly catching her father off guard, Violet pounced and kissed him with abandon. Bob was trying his best to hold down his urges, but it was for naught, he soon was returning the kiss with as much fervor as his daughter.
Locking the door behind him, Bob carried his daughter to her bed, laying her down atop the sheets Bob slowly kissed all over her body. Starting from the neck down, lightly sucking on her collarbone, eliciting moans of pleasure from his daughter. Violet was soon tearing off Bob’s clothes, feeling his taunt muscles and the way her hands seemed to scream with the need to touch every part of him.
Climbing on top of Violet, Bob held her hands to the side and mercilessly rained down kisses on her virgin body. Bob needed a release from all the stress he had balled up inside him, he needed an outlet for his passion, and Violet was just the one to fill this need. Violet had no problem with this, in fact she loved every minute that her father was doting on her.
Bob needed release but he also knew that this was not the time for something like this, but he needed some type of love thus he snuggled next to his daughter and cradled her in his arms. “That was wonderful honey, I really enjoyed that.”
“Thanks daddy…I mean honey. I really enjoyed it too. Why did you stop?”
“I can’t take that away from you honey…it just wouldn’t be right.”
“I want you to honey…I mean there is no one else I will love as much as you.”
“It doesn’t have to go so quickly Violet, I mean you said we have 3 weeks.”
“I know, but I was so excited I wanted you to be with me.”
Taking his daughter into a lover’s embrace, Bob kissed around her neck and suckled her collarbone. “I know honey…I wanted it too. You don’t know how much I wanted it too.”
Gently removing his arms from around Violet, Bob started to get up off her bed. “Don’t go…please?”
“I have to honey…I can’t be here…it is not right.”
“Okay…good night honey…Dad.”
“Good night sweetheart…I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Walking out the door, Bob could not help but feel that if he had the choice he would have just as readily returned to the waiting arms of his daughter. Not knowing how to react to all these emotions and feelings that burned through him whenever he kissed his daughter, Bob was a bit distracted when he entered the master bedroom.
“Honey? You okay?”
“Huh? Oh yeah, just thinking about some things don’t worry I’ll be in bed soon.”
“What is wrong honey? Is it Violet again?”
“Huh? You know about Violet?”
“What do you mean? You two told me that the problem was solved, I mean at least that was what Violet told me. Are you telling me that the boy that Violet likes is still giving her grief?”
“Well something along those lines yeah, but I can handle it honey don’t worry.”
“Who is this boy that has so much power over our daughter?”
“I know him, he is a good person but a little misguided…he needs to be taught some things.”
“And you are the one who is going to teach him?”
“Well yeah, I mean no one else will. He is something of a loner, I need to make him understand a few simple things.”
“And those are?”
“Well for starters, respect Violet and don’t let anything happen to her.”
“I thought that was your job Bob?”
“Such sarcasm doesn’t suit you honey.”
“I know, but I am terribly frustrated with the current state of affairs currently plaguing our home.”
“Isn’t that a bit melodramatic honey?”
“How would you describe our daughter shunning me and only confiding in you?”
“Well at least she confides in one of us.”
“I know that, but what is the use if you won’t tell me what I want to know.”
“I have an obligation to Violet to make sure that whatever is said between her and me, stays between her and me.”
“But you also have an obligation to me, I am your wife…I should know what boys my daughter is getting herself into.”
“I have already said that the boy is a good person, a bit too goody-goody for his own good but still a roundabout kid.”
“And that is supposed to bring me relief? I don’t know about you but that hardly matters to me, I want to know who he is and where I can find him.”
“You are starting to sound and awful lot like me…is that good?”
“I don’t know but if I were you I would tell me what the heck is going on with our eldest child.”
“But your not, and I cannot break the trust that Violet placed on me. I know it is not fair to you, but I must uphold all the privacy that my daughter and I share.”
Trying to dodge the issue for a moment, Bob headed into the master bath, ‘Maybe a shower will calm my nerves.’
“Don’t walk away Bob, I still want to talk about this.”
“Well I need a shower, so can we talk about it in here?”
“Alright, but hurry it up, it is kind of late for a shower.”
“I know honey, but I really do stink, I mean all that fighting can really make a person smell like a horse’s behind.”
Watching her husband strip in front of her, Helen found his body to be most pleasant to her eyes. “Been working out I see.”
“Yeah, been lifting some railroad cars, trying to keep up my strength just in case Syndrome comes back.”
“Worried much?”
“Yeah but what can I do? I mean it is a reflex nowadays; I can’t stop the feeling that pervades my soul, the feeling of emptiness when I saw your plane explode. I will not go through that again, I will make sure that Syndrome goes to jail for a long time.”
Stepping into the shower, Bob turned on the hot water, “Ahh this feels nice, want to come and join me sweetheart?”
“No Bob, I have already taken a shower.”
“Who said anything about a shower?” Retrieving his stunned wife, Bob kissed her underneath the jets of water. Exploring all his wife’s features, feeling the way their bodies aligned perfectly. The warmth of her skin, the supple flesh between his fingers, the way when he suckled on her neck she moaned with ecstasy. The clothing on his wife was an obstacle that Bob would soon remedy; tearing off her blouse he showered kisses on his wife. Suckling lightly, Bob tasted the distinct aroma that was his wife, Vanilla.
Lifting her into his arms, Bob continued his assault on her senses, delving deeper into the inner workings of her body. With each moan of pleasure, Bob charted a course that would make his wife scream in uncontainable emotion.
1 hour later
“Well that was fun, wasn’t it honey?”
Helen was a bit out of it, she seemed to be seeing stars, “I guess it was a bit too much fun, I mean if you are reduced to this, that can’t be a good sign.”
Awakening from her pleasure induced stupor, Helen wobbled to the king-size bed in the middle of the bedroom. “That was incredible Bob, I mean how did you do that last one?”
“Well I am Mr. Incredible, and about the last one, if I remember correctly it was you doing all the bending not me.”
“Well, you weren’t so bad yourself, I mean the way you were moving I would thought you were 20 years younger.”
Tackling his wife onto the bed, Bob initiated a tickling contest, hoping to get his wife to submit to him. “Haha…stop it Bob, I’m tired out. I mean we had enough…hahaha…stop it honey…I…hahaha….mean…hahaha….it..”
“Okay, but you have got to stop making me feel like a old man.”
“I seriously doubt that honey, I mean with the stamina you got, I would have thought you were 20 years old.”
Shaking his head, Bob lifted his wife into his arms and carried her to her side of the bed. Tucking in his wife, Bob climbed in next to her and cuddled as close as possible. “So what do you want to do tomorrow?”
“What do you mean? I have to take the kid’s to school and go shopping for groceries.”
“Well I was thinking of letting the kid’s play hooky tomorrow, I mean I have something important I want to show you all.”
“Well, I don’t know, if they play hooky once they might get used to it.”
“Oh come on honey, haven’t you ever played hooky before?”
“Well, yeah I mean it was way back in high school, I don’t think it counts with our kid’s now.”
“Please honey…I really want you guys to see it with me.”
“What about your job with the police department?”
“I was thinking of not going…”
“What do you mean? I mean it is your first day on the job and you are playing hooky? I don’t think that bodes well for future events.”
“I know, but I really want you guys to see something…please?”
“I don’t know Bob, lately you seem more reckless than usual…is something the matter?”
“Nothing is the matter honey…is it so wrong for a husband to show his wife and kid’s something?”
“No, but it is kind of strange when it happens so suddenly.”
“I know, but I feel it cannot wait…please honey?”
Staring into her husband’s eyes, Helen knew that she would give in eventually, ‘I mean who could turn him down? I love him too much and he knows it.’
“Alright, but only this once okay?”
“Yes! Of course honey, I won’t make a habit out of this.”
“Alright then, let’s get some rest.”
“Sounds good to me.”
Snuggling together the two superheroes dreamed of what would come on the next morrow’s eve. While the two slept, elsewhere a villainous presence loomed over the city…hoping to capture the Incredible’s and use them for his own means.
Syndrome was not a patient man, he wanted results and his robots were failing him at every turn. “That Mr. Incredible is really cramping my style, I mean I send my best at him and he just takes them down like clockwork. There must be something that can defeat him.”
Pondering on these events, Syndrome didn’t notice that he was coming dangerously close to the pool of toxic waste lying ten feet below him. Although he came perilously close to falling he caught himself in time, ‘Whoa…almost fell into that pool of toxic waste…hmm….if I could harness that stuff…I could build something that would be unbeatable.’
Sketching out a diagram, Syndrome soon had the inner workings of the creature he would like to build. ‘The power of the robot with the intelligence of a man, this will be my greatest invention to date.’
Although Syndrome had the plans in hand, he didn’t have the raw materials, like tons of metal, and of course the most important thing a human body to mutate into his creation. ‘I guess I could just pick up a hobo off the street, but what would be the fun in that? Plus, I doubt the homeless are very cunning or devious, no I think I need someone who is more scholarly…hmmm…who shall it be? A teacher? Doctor? Scientist? I know I will pick up a few of each.’
Heading toward his obsolete contraptions, Syndrome looked on them with disgust, “Very soon I will not need you piece’s of junk, but for now go and find me some scientists, teachers, and doctors.”
Activating at his command the robots headed out into the night to find their prey, but somebody had other plans for the robots. ‘Hmmm…so he is back? I guess it can’t be helped, but those robots give me a good idea. I’ll make them work for me…my mother always said that I was a born leader.’
The shadow disappeared after the robots, chasing them down in hopes of reprogramming the would be kidnappers. Attaching electromagnet’s to all 4 of Syndrome’s remaining contraptions, the interloper had stopped the robots dead.
‘A few adjustment’s and I can work with the real superheroes, instead of that boy menace.’
Working through the night, the young woman known only as Mirage reprogrammed the robots to terrorize Syndrome instead of the citizen’s located inside the city. “Capture Syndrome and bring him to me…do you understand?”
“Understood.”
All four of the robots returned to Syndrome’s lair, “What the heck are you junk scraps doing back? Have you found the targets?” Syndrome became a bit unnerved when the robots started shooting lasers and nets at him, “What the heck are you idiots doing?” Firing back at the robots with the force field he had used on the Incredible’s, Syndrome was amazed to find that they broke free without any problem.
Capturing the laughable villain, the robot’s headed back toward their new master. “What the heck is wrong with you guys?”
“I can answer that boss…I mean pipsqueak.”
Staring into the eyes of his former employee, Syndrome was at a loss for words. “Wha…”
“Don’t worry boy, I’ll take good care of you. Or should I say the police will.”
“Mirage? Why have you done this?”
“Well revenge, and because I just don’t like you.”
“How can you do this? What did you do to my robots?”
“Oh…them…I just rewired them and sent them after you.”
“Why?”
“Man you are slow, I told you, I don’t like you so get over it.”
“I will not be arrested by my own employee, robots code alpha delta epsilon.” With that the robots powered down, “I knew you forgot about the codes I used, I can’t believe you did but your loss.”
“Who said I did? Robots, Arise.”
The robots sprouted up like daisies and captured the villain again, “You have a override that supercedes mine?”
“Yep, I knew some of this stuff would come in handy someday.”
Struggling against his bonds, Syndrome only had one more thing to say to Mirage, “Did you do this because of him?”
“No, but I wouldn’t mind a little gratitude from him.”
“He has a wife, you know that don’t you?”
“I know, but a girl can dream can’t she?”
“I will be back, you know this?”
“And I will be waiting…I mean how hard can you be? I captured you easy enough.”
“Don’t be so cocky, I will exact my revenge on you and that little family of theirs.”
“I doubt it, but you can try.”
Instructing the robots to tie up the menace, Mirage climbed atop a robot and ordered it to City Hall. ‘Won’t he be surprised to see Syndrome alive and well?’
The next day…
“Wake up honey…hey Bob!!”
Startled, Bob leaped off his bed, “Huh? What? Bank robber?”
“No, not a bank robber honey, it’s your wife…you know Helen?”
“Oh honey, I just had the weirdest dream, it was night out and I was taking down a group of convicts when I lost all my powers, isn’t that weird?”
“Yeah, weird. Anyways, breakfast is ready, didn’t you have something you wanted to show the kid’s and me?”
“Yeah, I almost forgot, but first a nice breakfast to start off the morning.”
Leaping into the bathroom, Bob quickly finished his shower then went in search of the toothpaste. “I’m going downstairs Bob, if you get stuck in the toilet give me a holler.”
“Helen, that was only one time, and it was an emergency. Do you have to keep bringing it up?”
“Well, I can’t help it honey, it was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen.”
“Yeah, yeah everyone had a good laugh at my expense, don’t I feel special?”
Continuing his search for the toothpaste, Bob was again startled by a member of his family, although it was his daughter this time. “Hey daddy, how are you this morning?”
“Whaa….Oh it’s just you, Violet what are you doing in the master bathroom?”
“Oh I was just saying good morning, plus I wanted to see if I could catch you unawares.”
“Uh-huh…okay, now you said your piece, you going to breakfast?”
“Yeah?”
“Well go already, I mean you don’t want it to get cold do you?”
“Well no, but I like watching you. It’s one of my many hobbies, that and French kissing my boyfriend.”
“Could you keep it down? I mean your mother is just downstairs, I don’t want her to hear any of this.”
“Alright, but you got to pay the price for my silence.”
“And what is that?”
“Well a free kiss wouldn’t hurt, or something more intimate.”
“Uh…I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”
“Oh, by all means don’t let me keep you.” Violet stood by as Bob started to brush his teeth, ‘This is starting to get a bit freaky, does she have to watch with a smile on her face?’
“Okay done, now let’s go down to breakfast.”
“Aren’t you forgetting something honey?”
“What?”
“My reward for my silence? You know?”
“I don’t know I mean how bout your brother?”
“I don’t think the squid would like a kiss, do you?”
“You know that is not what I meant.”
“I know but it was so much fun getting you riled up, don’t worry about it. He’s out like a baby.”
“Just in case, come inside here. I’ll do it inside.” Following her father’s instructions, Violet entered the master bath, Bob lead her to the walk-in closet. “Is this really necessary?”
“Yes, I mean what if your mom and brother found out?”
“Alright, but this better be worth it.”
“What do you mean?”
“I want a really good one, not those little baby kisses like before.”
Understanding what his daughter was talking about, Bob tried his best to live up to a being a good kisser. By the time he was through, the closet was in shambles from the way the two had carried on. “Wow, that was good. I knew I could count on you honey.”
“Okay, is that good? Let’s go down and eat breakfast.”
“With that type of workout, I feel like I could eat a whole plate of eggs. Isn’t that right honey?”
“Uh-huh, let’s just eat shall we?”
“Of course.”
Making sure to walk in front of Violet, Bob greeted his loving wife with an affectionate kiss. “The coffee’s ready, sit back and I’ll be serving the sausages soon.”
“That sounds great mom, how bout some pancakes?”
“Oh honey, I didn’t see you there. Of course, pancakes are in the cabinet. You can make them right?”
“Don’t worry about it, I mean I have since I was a little girl.”
“Great, I may be stretchable but I only have two hands.”
Getting to work on the pancakes, Violet spent extra time on Bob’s one. Making sure that it was just right, ‘I can’t be his wife if he doesn’t get good food, I mean I got to learn from mom.’
“Here you go daddy, bottom’s up.”
“Thanks honey, it looks great.”
“How’s the coffee Bob?”
“Oh, it’s great, what flavor was it again?”
“Oh a new flavor, it was umm…hazelnut I think.”
“It tastes divine, would you like a cup?”
“Sure, thanks honey.”
“No problem.”
By the time everything was ready, Dash had awakened from his slumber. “Wow, nice pancakes, thanks mom.”
“It was made by your sister, thank her.”
“Ahh…it looks alright. Thanks sis.”
“No problem squid.”
Digging in with gusto, Dash finished half the pancakes before the family had touched one. “Whoa…that was good. Well I got to get ready for school see you.”
“Wait one second there son, I have a little announcement, you won’t be going to school today.”
“I won’t?”
“Nope, neither will your sister.”
“Why daddy? I mean is it a new holiday?”
“Oh nothing so big, just playing hooky for one day.”
“Again why?”
“Well, I have something important I want to show you guys.”
“Okay…what is it?”
“Yes what is it Bob?”
“Well it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if I told you. So I guess you will have to wait for at least a couple more hours.”
“Are we taking the car?”
“Yeah, but it’s not far, so it should be alright. I think we can make it back before the sun sets.”
Nodding their heads, the Parr family trusted in the head of the household. “So let’s get this wonderful breakfast done, then we can be on our way.”
“Sounds good, I’m done though.”
“Then you can watch a bit of T.V. before we go.”
“Awesome, can I watch the movie?”
“Sure, but be careful, I don’t want too much gore.”
“Okay, I got it dad.”
While the rest of the family ate their meal, Dash went in search of the movie he showed his dad last night. Along the way, he found an even better one, ‘This is about the same, I mean it can’t be that bad can it?’
Watching Resident Evil is bad, watching it alone when your only a child is even worse. ‘Wow this movie is scary, I can’t believe that guy got cut up by those lasers. Whoa…what’s that dog doing? Wait it’s going after her…run woman run…guess she didn’t make it.’
“Dash!”
“Huh? Oh hey dad, what’s up?”
“What’s up? I told you not that much gore, this is a bit too graphic, turn it off.”
“Yes sir.”
“Those will cause nightmares son, I just want the best for you.”
“I know dad, but it was so cool.”
“Ahh…you saw the scene where he jumps through the lasers?”
“Yes, it was awesome.”
“I know, but not for someone your age.”
“I know.”
“Okay, the girls are ready let’s get going.”
“Awesome, let me get some things.”
“Okay but slow down, don’t bump into your mom or sister.”
“I got it dad, I won’t bump into anyone.”
Watching as his son walked off, Bob turned toward the shut off television. ‘Hmm…I could see a bit of the news before he comes down. Maybe they are talking about the robot I defeated yesterday.’ Turning on the television, Bob was surprised to see Syndrome grimacing at him. ‘What the heck? This is the news, but what does it have to do with Syndrome?’ Turning up the volume, Bob learned that Syndrome had been captured waiting outside the police station. ‘What the heck was he doing in front of the police station?’
Continuing with the broadcast, the cameras focused in on Syndrome as he was taken away to his jail cell. “This man is a menace to society, I will make sure he gets put away for good.”
“Wow, the attorney general looks serious, I guess that is what Syndrome gets for trying to destroy the city.” Watching the events unfold on the television, Bob was again surprised but this time it was not such a good thing. “It seems that the renegade criminal has somehow knocked out his guards. The villain known as Syndrome is currently holding the police station hostage…a hostage count is being taken…it seems the Attorney General has been abducted by Syndrome.”
“That can’t be good, why the heck didn’t the guards watch him more carefully?” Watching as the female reporter continued her broadcast, Bob could only hope that Syndrome would not do anything stupid. “It seems that the man called Syndrome is now in talks with the police, but it seems the talks are breaking down….I have received word that a hostage has been shot….it has been confirmed that the hostage has been killed.”
‘He is mad, there is no way he will continue with his murderous rampage. There must be someone who can stop him, someone who stopped him before. I will not let him kill more innocents, it is just not right.’
“This has just been wired to me, it seems the hostage killed was none other than the Attorney General himself. I would like to take a moment to express my condolences to his family and friend’s.”
Walking downstairs, Helen saw her husband trying his best to control his temper, “What is the matter honey? Something wrong with the television?” Looking at the T.V. Helen found the face of a old man staring back at her, “Who is that honey? Isn’t that the Attorney General?”
“Yes.”
“What is he doing on T.V.?” Soon Syndrome’s face popped onto the monitor, “What the heck is that menace doing on T.V.?”
“He just killed the Attorney General.”
“What?”
“Yep, shot him in cold blood.”
“But why?”
“Probably because his demands weren’t being met. Who knows what goes on in the minds of such a sociopath?”
“What happened dad?”
Turning to his son, Bob just embraced the boy, “Syndrome has come back, but don’t worry I won’t let him take you guys away from me again.”
“You mean we won’t, right daddy?”
“Violet, your right. We won’t let that madman do any more harm to this city and this family.”
“Sounds good, where do we start honey?”
“Helen, I think we should prep the kid’s for a full on assault against the menace.”
“Are you sure Bob? I mean it is a bit risky.”
“With Violet’s abilities I have no doubt that they will be safe.”
“I still don’t know.”
“Mom it will be okay, I will protect the squid.”
“Hey, I am going to protect you, not the other way around.”
“Sounds good squid, but can you make a force field?”
“No.”
“Then I guess you have to rely on me for a bit of defense.”
“I guess.”
“Enough, kid’s this is not a time for fighting. We must stop this threat before it spreads, is this understood?”
“Yes dad.”
“Yes daddy.”
“So what’s our first move Bob?”
“Well, I think it is time for us to get into uniform. I mean it isn’t a superhero thing without a costume.”
“I guess.”
“I know it seems fundamentally unsound, but we have to keep out secret identities.”
“True.”
“Alright kids time to suit up.”
