ok ok ok, before I start this, I just wanna say THANK YOU to Eevee. Without her beautiful fanart I would never have gotten back into the 'ZADR' craze. I am SOOOO sorry I left... to tell you truth I kinda... forgot about it. ^^;, and right now my week is a little hectic, but I'll try to update this story and actually.... find a plot to stick with. *squints* I'm pretty sure there was supposed to be plot sooomewheere... to tell you the truth I have NO idea where this story is headed. I started it on a whim and it sorta sprung out after that.
ok this is gonna sound funny but...Could someone give me a summary of what my story is about? I wrote it so long ago that I forget most of it! I'll try to read it, but I wouldn't mind having a reader's view on it.
Until the next update -Chow!

Zim pulled Dib gently to the old couch that sat up against the wall. The same couch on which he had sunk into a depression so many years ago…. When Dib had decided to ignore him and venture to study real science like his father. The irken licked his lips and the metallic flavor of his own blood still stained his mouth, but the promise of answered questions, set his mind at peace. He waited until Dib had settled himself on the tattered cushions before sitting down next to him.
Dib rubbed his temples, eyes closed in thought. “I don’t even know where to begin…”
Zim couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Begin at the beginning, human.” His eyes widened as Dib raised his hand threateningly. But he needn’t have bothered worrying. All Dib did was bring his hand around to swat lightly at Zim’s antennae, then bring it down the length of the soft appendages, a silent apology.
Dib took a deep breath, seemed to steady himself, and opened his eyes.
“How many years has it been since we met… a lot…. I can still remember when you came through the door, you in all your arrogance. I knew you were an alien from that second… I mean look at you, your GREEN for pete’s sake!”
Here Zim gave a small pout, tentatively resting his head on Dib‘s shoulder. “For the longest time I wanted to expose you, to show everyone who you were so I would be liked… but after awhile that stopped. I began looking foreword to the chase, simply for the rush it gave me. Then, just recently, everything changed.” He shook his head helplessly. “I’ve never been loved in my life. My sister hates me, my dad doesn’t know who I am, and my mom-” His voice cracked and he was quiet.
Zim didn’t move, suddenly turned to stone. Then, very softly, he whispered. “What happened?” It wasn’t an order, it was hardly a question, just a soft breath of air that happened to carry Zim’s voice.
Dib complied, his voice less guarded. It was as if a hole had been made in a dam, and now all the tension and secrets were starting to spill out, soaking Zim with the trust it took. “She left. She couldn’t take it anymore and she left. Just before she walked out the door, she hurt me so I would hate her. She tried to undo all her kindness with hostility. All the times we had watched the stars, she tried to replace it with hate… then she left.”
Zim’s antennae quirked. He didn’t understand… perhaps he would never understand why ‘family’ meant so much to humans… all the same, what did it have to do with him? He was surprised when Dib abruptly took him into his arms. The Irken’s head was gently pressed against Dib’s chest and he could hear a steady beat, like one of the many bands that humans listened to… but this beat was more melodic than any music he had ever heard before. Dib’s heartbeat.
“I keep expecting you to leave.”
Zim couldn’t keep the surprise off his face. “Explain…” he suggested softly.
Dib held him even tighter, so that it was just the slightest bit hard to breathe. But it was nice. Zim found that Dib was leaning over him, his face buried in the soft crook between his PAK and his shoulder blade. “When my mom left,… she hurt me, so I wouldn’t miss her. It did something else. It made me angry and I thought, if someone leaves, they should feel the same pain that I will when they’re gone.“ He was shaking now, and Zim had no idea what to do. “Every time I let myself get close, I realize it will be that much harder for me when you leave… so I have to hurt you more and more… but then I get hurt more, I have to hurt them and-.”
Dib’s temper suddenly flared and Zim could almost feel the anger entering the air. “It’s a vicious cycle! I hate it!” He shifted, and Zim realized the human was about to push him away again. Instantly, he snaked his arms around Dib, holding the human as tightly as he had been held before. Dib pushed him, but Zim hung on. Something wet fell onto his cheek and he looked up. Crystal droplets were trickling down Dib’s cheeks, each one breaking Zim’s heart a little more.
Zim leaned towards Dib’s and closed his eyes, pressing his lips against the human’s soft cheeks, tasting salt. “Don’t cry…” he whispered, noticing with slight embarrassment the way he seemed to be begging. Begging for the tears to stop. Begging for Dib’s pain to end. He licked his lips as Dib relaxed under him. “I forgive you Dib… and I’m not going anywhere-” He chose his words carefully, his mind amazingly jumping one step ahead of his words. “-that I won’t be able to find you again.”
To his immense relief, Dib relaxed slightly, the tension in the air beginning to evaporate like dew in the morning sun. Zim allowed his eyes to open, rubies meeting topaz, both glittering. Then Dib’s arms were around Zim once more, their lips pressed together, their hearts beating as one, Zim’s heart flooding with warmth. He could see a line had been crossed, one he never knew existed. Something had been breached and he could almost hear the stings of their fate tying together, knotting in that moment.
The kiss tasted like salt.
