Adore Thy Master (part 3b)

This takes place at the same time as Part 3a.
pov: Makura
---
"I, Makura Kalmalyon, have answered your summons, practitioner!"
I'd exploded into the summoning chamber with a firestorm that might not have matched the rage I felt at being interrupted during such a.. promising time. My desires for sex were still running high.. and what awaited me when the flames settled and I observed my surroundings, didn't exactly assist in stifling those desires.
This was Zachary's ritual chamber, yet again, only the arrangement of things had been altered since last time. There was a new personal altar and tome in a corner of the room, and new carvings made in the walls. He'd taken an apprentice, and my eyes fell upon him instantly. The clone, Moonstorm, currently sat in the middle of a ring of fire, runes painted on his surface.. his optics were bright red, much brighter than usual.. and his interface cable was expanded to its maximum amount. His fingers were curled around it, pumping it harshly.. he seemed intently focused.. and still lost in the throes of pleasure.
"Sex magic..?" I inquired toward Zachary, who was standing off to the side, obviously he'd wanted me to notice his clone first. He smiled, brushing at his hair.. "Oh yes.. they're quite good at it. I've been doing some research into these clones.. As you know, magic isn't limited to any specific kind of creature, magic is crafted by the will and the drive.. the -desire- to manifest change and the ability to perceive the flow of energy.. These clones are so incredibly perceptive.. pleasure rolls through them from the lightest of strokes on their surface.. Teach them to widen that perception a bit.. and you've got them funneling their personal energy into your rituals.."
As he spoke, I observed the winged clone, and it was clear that Zachary was correct.. there was a flow of energy in the room.. that left Moonstorm's ring of fire and drifted into his master.. drifted into the fires that flared in the room.. even I felt it, tingling on my skin. It was incredible..
"Is this what you summoned me for? To demonstrate a clone using magic?" I inquired, remembering a bit of my old irritation, though it had certainly been tempered quite a lot.. I'd never thought about teaching clones magic.. Humans were truly creatures of endless innovation.
"No," Zachary said, stepping over to the front of the circle, looking me directly in the eyes, using his serious tone, not his playful one. I acknowledged him immediately. There was business to be done, this summoning. "I require your assistance in the.. removal of an obstacle. Within the Order, there has been.. unrest. A previously quiet and mostly unknown sorceress has been gaining in power, rather rapidly.. I believe she is doing so because she wants to make a move for leadership."
"Leadership?" I asked, quirking an eyebrow.. "There is no leader of the Order of the Helix, and the laws state that there will never be. Her efforts will prove fruitless," I shrugged, flames leaping off my arms.. "Why bother with a fool?"
"I am as aware of my Order's laws as you are.. and I am dedicated to seeing them upheld. We bow before the Demons first, the Demons foremost, and the Demons always! That is why I cannot let that accursed woman continue her powerlust!" Zachary's voice rang through the chamber. Eventually, his tone lessened, as he began to explain the situation.. "Until recently, she has been just another practitioner, attempting mastery of her craft as is fitting and expected of those in darkness, paying reverence to the Demons and seeking self-perfection.. but then, things started to change. Her speciality has always been Ice magic, but she was never considered anything more than an average spellcaster. Recently, however, she challenged a fellow Order member to a magical duel, going through all the correct procedures, of course.. but when the duel was held, she demonstrated a level of power that only an expert.. no, a master could possess! She killed her opponent. Quickly."
"It's not against Order law to kill another member in a duel," I remarked.. but I did notice why Zachary would be concerned.. "But it is nearly unheard of for someone to gain that much power, that rapidly.."
"After it happened, she donned a new title, the Lady of Ice, and began wearing an elaborate set of robes and a crystalline mask. She has taken many apprentices, even built a tower, as if she was a Master of Darkness herself! She gains in followers daily.. I have no doubt in my mind that she puts herself before the Order, before the Demons we venerate. She plans to either take over the Order, or split it from within. Either way, I won't stand for it... I want her eliminated," Zachary ended with his voice low.. still. The sound of a predator's thoughts before the death strike..
"And you want me to kill her," I spoke what was on his mind, without needing to hear it from him.. "This is a.. costly ritual you are referencing."
"I am aware," the human spoke, his eyes eerily steady. I could tell, he had mentally prepared himself for this. "This must be done."
The chamber was deathly silent. For a minute, nothing moved or made sound.. not even the once-crackling fires.
"Death will be traded for Death," I spoke smoothly.. "You must suffer, and through your agony, will my payment be extracted. Step forward, human," I said, addressing Zachary coldly.. right now, I could not think of him as a friend, or even as anyone I personally knew. I was going to torture him, flay his flesh, spill his blood.. bring him over the edge into death, and then shove him backwards to the brink once more.. Only then, would this ritual be complete.
The clone, Moonstorm, seemed to notice what was going on, and obviously had to have been informed about it.. and the importance of his focus.. he was likely going to be used as a buffer to his master's life force.. and his master was going to need it. Zachary entered the circle, bearing himself to me entirely, for once he crossed the threshold, I could touch him, harm him.
My claws shot out, grabbing the man by the throat.. his dark robes incinerated immediately on his body.. of course, him being human, this burned, long streaks of charred flesh appearing instantly.. He bit his lip to keep from screaming, even though he knew that screaming was going to be part of it regardless. Blood trickled out of his mouth.. he'd bitten through his lip.
I squeezed on his throat, not enough to crush it, but more than enough to cause immense pain, and cut off his breathing.. he gurgled as my grip tightened.. his eyes bulging, going from gray, to white.. With my other hand, I extended my claws to their full length, and quickly slashed them across his chest, leaving five raking lines.. and then five more.. and five more.. they crossed and merged and travelled over his body as I aimed at different places, until the front of his body looked like a patchwork of oozing red, exposed muscle.. pieces of skin plopped downward as the blood spilled all over the circle, which glowed and ignited hotter, the flames around the edges curling inward, licking at the multitude of wounds.
All the while, Zachary let loose a series of bloodcurdling screams, his mouth wide open.. it seemed that his eyes and his mouth were the same width, stretched and frozen with terror and pain.. but there was also a.. determination that I could sense in his aura.. this was his choice.. his strength was still present.. and I could feel it being bolstered.. the clone, Moonstorm, was doing everything he could to keep his master from collapsing.
Eventually, I released the man, letting him drop down into the puddle of his own blood.. without magic, he would be dead.. and the final part of the ritual, called for just that. I expanded my personal aura, filling up the summoning circle with a gray.. stifling, choking energy cloud.. so thick that even I couldn't see. I heard Zachary coughing, knowing he was hacking up blood and who knows what else.. as his magic failed him, everything failed him.. he was cold, and dying, and alone.. weak, powerless.. helpless.. I waited, sensing.. when he'd felt the height of despair, and finally given up on his will to live.. that would be when I released him from agony.
His willpower had held up a lot longer than I expected. For several minutes, I heard him whimper, wheeze and shiver.. his body seizing up and tensing on itself, before finally, his death rattling ceased.. he was going to die. In that instant, I flooded him with energy, drawing him off the ground by my will alone.. his entire body glowed red, an intense red that streamed out of every pore on his surface, permeated his aura, lit up from beneath what skin he had left, radiated in his eyes.. and then, it was over.
I dropped him roughly, watching intently as he hit the stone floor, which was no longer stained with blood.. for his body was no longer ravaged as it was before. His skin was made anew, and his wounds were gone.. at least, their damaging effects were.. but the wring marks on his neck remained, left as light burn marks, which flared outward.. the same with the claw slashes.. all burned there forever, all reminders.. all indicators, that this man had bargained with a Demon for Death.
He sucked air into his lungs, hard, his hands splayed under him in an attempt to support his weight. His body was still incredibly weak.
"The ritual is finished. Death has been offered and Death will be dealt. The Lady of Ice will meet her end tonight," I spoke casually, sealing the ritual with a flash of fire in my eyes.
"..p-praise be to the Darkness.. M-makura.. Go with my thanks.. harm who you will," Zachary managed, sounding nothing like himself.. his clone rushed over at once, gathering him up and removing him from my circle, a look of fright in his eyes.. even as he nodded toward me.. speaking softly.. "Thank you.. great and powerful Demon.."
I nodded. It was time to leave them be. I made my exit just as I had appeared, in a burst of flame.. I had one more task ahead of me before I returned home...
---
The Lady of Ice had chosen an secure location for her Tower.. the middle of nowhere, pretty much. If I didn't have the ability to key in on energy, I wouldn't have found it at all. But the place was unmistakably inhabited by a wielder of Ice magic, and a powerful one. The ritual fires burned in my blood.. yes, my target was within!
The tower was carved into the side of a mountain, in a part of the forest that trails didn't lead to.. that people didn't touch. It had to be this way.. the Order was generally forbidden from allowing the general public to know about their existence, as my kind demanded. Humanity had somehow, forgotten largely about the Demons that were once real to them. Even though records of all types persisted, about civilizations and their 'terrible' guardians, my kind had become mythical creatures that hardly mattered except on that one day where children ran about dressed up like us. It didn't bother me much, especially since it made it very, very easy to pretend to be human, considering how much privacy money could buy, not to mention--less practitioners of magic meant less summoning. I was by no means young, but I wasn't ancient like some of my ancestors.. I heard stories from the times when humans and Demons worked side by side on a wide scale, entire civilizations being aware of my kind. Certainly back then, I would have had no time for my own life, always being so intertwined with humanity and their truly endless needs...
I let my thoughts slip away as I approached the Tower. There was no reason to go inside on foot, I could easily focus on my target and teleport inside...
---
I appeared in a dark room, a very large, freezing cold room styled like a cave.. I blinked, and noticed there were ice crystals forming on my eyelashes.. This was.. this was not created by an average spellcaster.
"A visitor, to see me?" a voice spoke from seemingly nowhere, but eventually, a form appeared out of the darkness, first as just an outline of frost, but eventually, as a woman.. wearing a long, ice blue robe made from some form of glittery material, flakes of snow and ice interwoven with the threads.. and a large, bright, crystal mask, which covered all of her face and then some, branching outward, icicles hanging off it, mimicking long, daggerlike teeth. Obviously this mask was enchanted.. for I could not see her face behind it.
"You are the Lady of Ice," I spoke without emotion. I wasn't here to get to know her, just identify her and kill her.
"You are an Archdemon... Makura Kalmalyon, Fire and Darkness Elemental, born under the influence of Sagittarius, favored by Jupiter, as lucky as you are powerful... well known to the Order, one of our favored.. patrons," she paused, as if the word was sickening to her, before continuing, in a mocking, drawn tone, "One of the Order's -greatest- allies.. and the personal Guardian Demon of one of our own.. Zachary.. am I correct?"
"You know all that one of the Order would know about me, and yet what you know is irrelevant.. and will not save you. You have been marked for Death," I spoke, extending my claws, fire arching off of them..
"I see, a Death for Death ritual.. no doubt your friend's body is marred with the burns. And now you've come to complete it and be on your way. Well, I suppose you'll be disappointed that you had to hurt the human you protect for no reason at all.. because you won't be killing me, Makura, I'll be killing you."
"...are you really this foolish, human? You are no match for me.." I trailed off, thinking this would be a good moment to get some insight into the mind of this obviously insane woman, "..and if by some insanity you did kill me, you would bring the entire Demonic legion down upon you.. you would be ravaged until nothing remained, not even the memories of you in the minds of others would be spared annihilation."
"You are the one who is foolish, Makura! I have discovered the secret to tapping unlimited, pure, POWER! I will unleash it upon any being that defies me, be it the worthless Order, or the Demons themselves! I will destroy my enemies and those who remain with their lives will be enslaved, serving my will forever! It is time that magic was reintroduced to the world.. With me as its ultimate Master! I will turn this miserable planet into an elemental plane of Ice, feeding my power, making me immortal, and all those who dwell here will offer their life force to sustain me! Serve me! Forever!" and with that, a blizzard struck through the room, cold enough to actually chill my skin.. which shocked me. I raised a bright blaze around my body, dispelling the feeling. She was powerful, I would give her that. But I knew true power. This woman was delusional. She really did need to die, and immediately.
"Perish, human," was all I bothered to say, loosing a blast of hellfire directly at the sorceress.. she raised a shield of ice, which resisted melting for a moment.. before it was consumed. She wasn't behind it when the attack burst through, which I'd expected.. instead she had teleported behind me, attempting to jab an ice dagger into my back.. I laughed... her strike was pathetically slow compared to my movement speed. I had turned around and grabbed her hand before she even lunged.. and without emotion, I wrenched the limb off of her arm, letting the hand and dagger drop to the floor.. the woman's scream was high and piercing... I blocked it out, rushing forward, gathering my fingers together, claws extended, making a knife out of my hand.. before plunging it directly into her midsection. The blood that spurted out went.. everywhere.. soiling her blue robe, turning it an ugly shade of purple.. even one I couldn't appreciate.
"Aaagghh!" the Lady of Ice cried out, flailing on my hand.. using her remaining hand to launch ice blast after ice blast directly into my body.. they stung.. hard, freezing up on my skin, burning it in their own way, but a simple refocusing of my mind had a blaze covering my aura yet again.. and the magical wounds undone.
"Come on, fool.. I thought you were going to kill all the Demons with your... POWER?" I shouted the word as she had, flicking my arm, sending the woman crunching directly into the floor... she was seething, angry.. and somehow, not dying yet. I watched, waited for her to make her next move.. and she did. Her eyes turned a solid, electric blue, and then.. her body was.. gone. Replaced with a mass of darkly gleaming, blue ice energy in the shape of a woman, in the blink of an eye. Her voice no longer coming from vocal cords, it resonated about as she spoke telepathically.
"DIE!! YOU DEMON SCUM!" she cried out, launching herself at me, engulfing my body in an orb of ice energy.. it happened so fast, I didn't have time to react, for once, in my life. She formed over me, intent on choking off my aura, smothering my fire...
But she still, wasn't strong enough to do it.
Before she could seal me in, I growled deeply, an ancient curse rising in my voice.. the twisting snakes upon my skin illuminating.. fire streaming out of every portion of my self.. not the red and orange fire I normally exuded, but a dark, purple and black flame, pure black hellfire... I pushed it outward in all directions, building it up, stoking flame with flame.. and the wail of torment I heard in response made things perfectly clear.
The Lady of Ice, was melting.
"EEEEEEAAAAAAGHHHH!!!" came the shriek, and a sizzling noise accompanied it.. not only was she melting, the resulting liquid was boiling. I waited, steadily increasing the temperature of my fire, watching, making sure that I'd evaporated every last drop of the sorceress's energy form. When at last, the sizzling stopped, I paused.. taking in the area.. her energy was dead, gone.
She'd been killed. My contract was complete. I scanned around the immediate area for anyone else who might get in my way, but found no one.. just the remains of her robe, and the mask she once wore. I stepped over to it, and crunched my heel down on top of it, cracking the mask in half.
"That's the end of that madness.." I spoke.. but I couldn't help but feel.. unsettled inside. There was something that just wasn't right about this whole ordeal. "How did she obtain so much power in the first place..?"
I decided not to linger on it, at least, not while still inside that Tower. I focused on my home, for the first time in hours.. the entire day had gone by, I was certain.. I thought of my clones, my dear Beast and my exciting new acquisition, Overlord, and decided they would be the focus of my mind, for now... I still hadn't had my desires sated, after all... and with two clones.. so many possibilities..
My mind drifted off as I initiated teleportation...

The link I'd felt with my Master had severed in an instant, pain tearing through every segment of my body, every circuit feeling as if someone had set it on fire.
My optics tore open, my body was screaming, I was going offline.. I was going offline! My head felt like it was being torn open! I'd never felt this sort of sensation before!
I felt that way for a few minutes.. before it subsided.. no, I wasn't offline. I wasn't.. but I knew.. something was wrong.. terribly wrong. Inside I felt.. rage.. burning rage. An emotion I'd never known before.. And lurking deeper.. was something else. Something.. unstable.. where had these strange feelings come from? These.. other..
Dashing through the memorized halls of the Tower, I arrived at the balcony that overlooked Master's study chamber.. and there, my greatest fears were realized. The link I felt with Master had been severed.. because she was dead.
"..what in ze name of Darkness.. Master! MASTER!" I cried out, leaping down from the overhanging, landing and gathering up.. what was left of my master.. her robe, torn and burnt, everywhere.. and her mask.. broken in two halves..
"Why? ..how could zhis have happened to you Master.. What will I do..?"
A thought emerged in my mind.. and voiced itself, without me even permitting it.
"FIND WHO DID ZHIS! KILL ZHEM! KILL ZHEM! AVENGE MASTER! YOU MUST!"
I clapped a hand over my mouth.. what had I just said?
"Oooh yes yes! You have to -kill- who killed your Master, it iz only fair, isn't it? Isn't it?"
Again! Another voice...
I felt like the room was rotating, spinning.. I was disoriented.. I reached out, my arms trembling, and picked up a segment of Master's mask, cradling it in my fingers.. before bringing it up to my optics.. but when I did so.. I froze at the reflection I saw in it.
My face...
