Alexander lightly taps at her door, stepping in when he hears a male voice inside. He freezes for a moment, seeing Owen staring at him from the bed with his arms wrapped gently around Eve. A smile touches his lips and he quietly closes the door. “So, this is why you want her healed, Uncle? You’re in love with her?”
“I want her healed because her injuries were caused by my actions.” He gazes down at her before slowly sliding away and out of the bed. “My feelings for her are separate from what needs to be done.” “Uncle, don’t get me wrong.” He steps closer to Owen, pulling the blanket over Eve’s sleeping body. “I’m glad you have her. You need someone and she’s perfect for you.” “Oh?” Owen changes shape to Puck and lifts an eyebrow at his nephew. “And what makes you think she will accept me?” “Because she’ll give you a run for your money and be able to keep up with you when you need her to.” He winks at Puck. “Now let’s get her better.” She wakes the next morning, her hands reaching out for him. When she feels the bed empty beside her, her eyes fly open and she looks around the room. Xander is asleep in the chair across the room from her but Owen is not in sight anywhere. Her stirring wakes him, the boy smiling at her disgruntled look. “He said to let you sleep and make sure you ate a lot this morning.” He lifts a covered plate from the table next to him and hands it to her. “You look like you could use some coffee too.” She grimaces and starts devouring the eggs. “No way. Coffee is nasty. I only drink it when I absolutely have to.” She stops for a moment and looks down at her plate, realizing she has no headache and she’s ravenous. “You’ve been doing magic on me.” He lifts up a hand, fending off her angry glare. “Not me. It was Puck who did the magic. I just watched.” “Puck?” She continues to eat but doesn’t take her eyes off of him. “Who is Puck and why would he do magic on me?” He sighs, trying to think of how much to tell her. “Puck is my teacher. He’s the one you complained wasn’t teaching me enough about magic.” He smiles at her snort. “See! Haven’t met him yet and you already have an opinion about him! It’s because of you that he has started teaching me the healing aspect. He said you were right and I should know more.” Her anger slowly drains away. “Oh. So am I now you’re guinea pig when it comes to healing?” He shakes his head. “Lord no! I wouldn’t let him ask it of me anyway. I’ve only been observing anyway. He said it was too delicate for me to do. I agree.” “And that’s why I’m hungry?” She hands him back the clean plate. “And that’s why you are starving.” He hands her a glass of juice. “Puck has done 3 weeks of healing on you in two nights. Your body is racing to replenish that energy.” “When do I get to meet him?” She downs the juice. “Will he be here again tonight?” He shakes his head yes and frowns. “I was told your mind couldn’t handle being awake for the healing. It would be like being awake for brain surgery and feeling everything they do to you.” He sees her pale at that thought. “That’s why you’ve been asleep for it. As for meeting him, we will be going out after the banquet Friday if you would like to join us? He promised I could go to a Rave party if I did everything I’m supposed to at the banquet.” She stares down at the glass. “I don’t know how to dance.” “Neither do most of the people at the Rave.” He takes the glass from her and refills it, laughing. “Don’t worry. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.” She sips at it this time. “Oh what the hell! Why not? Count me in.” He settles down next to her, grinning. “I’m sure you are tired of being in here already.” “You have no idea.” She growls back, frustrated. He leans against her, remembering a time when he was laid up. “I do. Broke my collarbone when I was 12 yrs old and it was the worst 3 months of my life. Wanna go for a walk?” He shrugs and stands up, holding his hand out to her. “I can’t take you far but we can at least sit in the solarium for a while.” She smiles and takes his hand. “I would love a walk, Kind Sir.”
