A Few Days Later . . .
Jessica sat on her bed, staring at it from across the room. She snatched another Kleenex from the box and swiped her eyes again.
She hopped to her feet and went to look at it again. Maybe it was wrong. She picked it up and stared, as if willing it to change would actually work.
But it hadn’t. It was still the same. It was the third one she’d used and they were all the same. There was just no denying it.
She was pregnant.
