Chapter 12: Carnelian's Old Past (L)
9, October 2027 AD, 14.12 PM (Earth's time)

Milky Way Galaxy, Human's Solar System, Earth's orbit, Imperial Royal Dreadnought.
It's already passed five minutes after the Empire's rebels escaped from them. But still, the air is filled with tension as Imperial Peridot needs to face with Emperor himself for her failures.
If an ordinary Gem failed a Diamond in their mission: it's always was a permanent shatter from a Diamond or their closest in command. Even with new Empire ruling over Gems, a permanent shattering by Emperor or his top officers is still a thing. But here is more a horror.
Carnelian is far worse to deal compared to Diamond's wrath. It's not surprising as Gems always afraid of the man behind that mask. From the day he regained his throne from Last Diamond Authority, he treats Gems with harsh and even tyrannical to them. He won't tolerate failures even if it simple task was failed. He will shatter anyone, not matter if it's High ranking Amethyst or Jasper, he will shatter them all.
And Imperial Peridot is now in that shatter list. She knows that Carnelian will shatter her for crashing Star Destroyer into another. But she hopes she needs to only report Admiral Rubicon and avoid Emperor's face to face meeting.
"We unable to stop rebels from escaping us, Ma'am" Imperial Peridot removed her officer cap and pressed it on her chest, unnoticeably shaking in fear to Admiral
"Lost? But you had them in sight!?" Admiral replied in surprise tone...or it's just her angry tone sounds like.
"My crew crashed into another Star Destroyer as we chased them. We completely lost the GTIE fighter signals as they entered the asteroid field...and they didn't come back to us for five hours" Imperial Peridot cleared her throat.
Admiral exhaled in tiredness "I can't say anything about that, Peridot FGE-742. My lord already knows your big failure. He "asked" you to meet him at his personal bridge...and he is very angry right one."
A small tear comes down from Peridot's eye. This is the end for her career "Thank you, Admiral. It's been a pleasure to serve my true Empire" She sadly salutes in an imperial way.
"I will send my regards to Peridot Manager...stay strong warrior, that's the last order from me!"
"Yes ma'am" Imperial Peridot again saluted her for the last time.
Admiral Rubicon, with a respective nod to Peridot, left for debriefing, leaving poor Imperial Peridot alone in Admiral's office.
Without crying. Imperial Peridot gathered her thoughts and chanted 'be brave' many times as she ventured to the elevator that leads into "Lair of the beast"
Taking an elevator, Peridot tries to not kill herself with her officer pistol that she has in her holster. Even though she will be forgotten by seconds after she will be shattered, she still needs to be brave and face her ruler as every Peridot Gem will do...to honor all Peridots and Peridot Manager herself...to honor Homeworld and entire Empire.
The door opened and Imperial Peridot slowly leaves it. First thing first she saw two tall robed guards that have Diamond gemstones on them. They are guarding the main door that only Emperor himself can enter.
"I come to my lord" Imperial Peridot carefully says to one of them.
"Wait" It's the only word was heard from one of them.
Peridot becomes even more horrified as the main door very slowly slides open and lights came down. The Carnelian's shadow falls on her as he comes closer to her. The way his dark cape moving makes Peridot be more afraid of him.
"Peridot FGE-742" Emperor Carnelian says her name. His voice is already a sign that he wants to shatter her...no doubt.
"My lord" It's only what Peridot managed to reply to his "greeting"
"You seem so unsettled...I wonder why" Carnelian makes one circle movement around her, studying her very carefully...like a beast in front of prey.
"...I'm so sorry for failing you, My true leader." Imperial Peridot removed her imperial officer cap and pressed on her chest.
She heard how he made a small without any emotions laugh "Apologies won't help you to fix your mistakes..." He turns his hooded head to her direction "Do you agree?"
"Yes...my lord" Imperial Peridot whispered while being more in fear.
"So what are we going to do? Any options from your point of view?" Carnelian laid his dark-gloved hand on her shoulder. His hand is very cold to her. She even can feel some kind of dark energy travels from his hand to her body.
"I..." Peridot tries to not look at her leader as she thinks to say something...but epically fails "...Don't know-"
She was interrupted by Carnelian's sudden strong grab and lifting her up and then brutally slamming her against the wall "You had one job! ONE JOB!" He gripped her neck and makes her choke for air.
"Please my-" She tries to breathe for air.
"NO! IT'S NOT HARD TO MANEUVER IMPERIAL SHIP FROM ANOTHER SHIP!" He squeezes her neck harder.
*Gah* Peridot feels like she starts losing her Gemstone's energy from poofing.
"Pathetic..." He released her and she fell on the floor, gasping and choking for the air, some of her green liquid flows down from her throat.
"Get out...The Empire doesn't need Peridots like you!" Carnelian looked away, disgusted by her presence.
The Diamond Guards froze like statues. It's the first time when Carnelian lefts someone alive...what made him change his routine?
Peridot can't believe it too. She is very lucky right know "My lord, I can't thank-"
"GET OUT!" Carnelian screamed very loud that the interior shook. Imperial Peridot perked up in horror and ran away to the elevator.
Carnelian stares at the floor as he is catching a breath from his sudden anger sparkle "If one of you will spread the rumors...then I will shatter you and will send regards to Goddess Diamond herself" He grumpy warned his guards as he entered his room private room again.
"Our lord is battling against his dark side...just like in the prophecy." One of them says
"Then maybe the prophecy is true...and soon Red Diamond or even Golden Diamond will come back to us," Another says.
"We all hope for her and Red Diamond to come back...We all hope" Another finish as they continue guarding the door.
Milky Way Galaxy, Human's Solar System, Saturn's orbit, S.V.E Gemia.
About three or four hours passed since their big escape from Imperial Gem's forces. S.V.E Gemia is still getting fixed by Peridot.
While Peridot is working, Steven took S.V.E Gemia's Captain Quarters just like his temporary room for now. Nobody knows when Peridot is gonna fix the FTL core so that they can hyperjump from Solar System to G.R.A's base location. So, for now, they have to wait for Peridot to fix it.
Ryder gave his IDroid to Steven so he can check how his father. Gemia has a very powerful antenna that can reach to Earth's orbit satellites. So it' won't be a problem Steven to make a call to his father.
After taking shower to wash out all that sewer's smell and getting new clothes that Ryder has in his ship' storage (it looks like the N7 jacket from Mass Effect 3), he needs to make a call to his dad.
He grabbed Ryder's IDroid from the table. He typed Greg's number and put it on his ear. "Please, pick up a phone, dad" He prayed that his father will pick it up, hoping that Emperor Carnelian didn't skin Greg alive.
"Hello?" Greg's old voice can be heard.
Steven nearly fainted as the happiness hit his heart again. He can't describe how happy he is again to hear his father's voice. He thought that his father won't survive Carnelian's menacing wrath "Dad!?"
"Steven?! Where-"
"I'm near planet Saturn, Father" Steven interrupted him as he gazed at the small window where it shows a full view of Saturn's beautiful sphere "Inside the ship correctly." He adds
He heard how Greg sighed in relief "I'm glad you escaped from Imperial Gems, Steven. The Beach City screamed in terror as another attack happened on New-York"
"That's too bad, Dad" He lied as he was involved in it...kind of...not really "So how did you escape Carnelian?"
He heard how Greg chuckled "Actually, that guy left me alone."
"Wait! He let you live?"
"Yeah, after you guys flew away from the hangar and left me with him. We had some very "serious" talk about me and your mother." Greg stops for a second to make a chuckle "I can't tell how much he screamed or called me an idiot for impregnating Rose. And in the conclusion, that poor guy began to cry and let me go."
"Cry?" Steven imagined crying Carnelian, man that hooded gem is broken "So where are you right now?"
"In Beach City right know. Connie with Aveline will arrive home tomorrow."
"Good." He smiled that everything is alright for them. Connie and Aveline deserve a peaceful life from Steven's and Carnelian's madness "Again, I'm sorry that we didn't have a proper goodbye, dad"
"It's okay, kid. Just be safe in the Galaxy and don't forget about an old man, watching the skies on Earth."
"Will do...and take care yourself, Dad. It Dark Times all over us again"
"You too, Steven. You too." And they ended the call.
Steven laid the phone on the coffee table and sighed in relief as he didn't lose his father. Losing Greg would mean that only Carnelian and Steven are only left in Universe's family line. These thoughts make Steven angry again as that guy is related to him.
Steven sighed again to clear out his thoughts of Carnelian's existence...he looked around for what to make him busy...then something hits his mind "Maybe I should hang with Peridot to spend some time off." He stood up from the couch and leaves his room.
3 minutes later.
Steven went on Deck 5: the engineering section to find Peridot as he knows it's the most favorite place for Peridot and other Peridots to hang out right know "Peridot, where are you?"
He made 360 degrees turn to check where Peridot is located "Seriously, where is she?" He mumbled to himself. He can't find her. He wonders where she is.
Then suddenly, He felt how a barrel of the blaster pistol pressed to his head "Don't move, you filthy little human." Said the Pearlish voice. Not the Pearl's good old voice for him...that means it's only one option who it might be...
Yellow Pearl
Steven grinned as he figured out who it might be "I see you finally awake and managed to escape from our cell, Yellow Pearl."
"Don't think that traitor Pearl or my Ex-Diamond will save you know. You're doomed, you savage!" She grinned knowing that she has the upper hand over that stupid human. She purposely made her pistol to make "Electric Power up" sound to scare him.
"Not only if I doom you first, you yellow clod!" And yep, Peridot to the rescue. She pressed her own shotgun to Yellow's armored back.
Yellow clenched her teeth and growled as it's the second time someone sneaks behind her back...she needs more practice. "You're all traitors to the Great Homeworld!" She exclaimed, feeling a disgust at rebels for their pathetic betrayals.
"It's you who are a real traitor! You betrayed Yellow Diamond in that day, yellow clod!" Peridot exclaimed at her. The first score goes to Peridot for pointing out.
Yellow Pearl just rolled her eyes "And?! As long others are traitors to the Empire I don't really care about my betrayal!" Yellow Pearl snarled at her. When it comes to her, Yellow Pearl always defends herself for anything...no matter if it was a noble thing or not.
"Your highness, clod!" Peridot insulted Yellow Pearl.
"Manager's big green bitch!"
"Pointy Pearl!" (That's an offensive insult to Pearls)
Yellow Pearl gasped at Peridot's offensive insult. She clenched her teeth as she gives some insults "Why-you-little-Ungrateful-"
"Enough!" Steven interrupted their chain of insulting
Both Peridot and Yellow Pearl quickly gazed at him "SHE STARTED IT!" Peridot and Yellow Pearl both exclaimed at the same time, pointing at each other with their fingers.
Steven face palmed as another one of those "Wacky-talky" thing begins "Oh, Mom. Give me your strength" He murmured under his nose "Look, Yellow Pearl. Just tells us what do you want from us so we can finish with this pile of nonsense"
She made that familiar cracky smile to everyone "I need to hide from Imperial Homeworld for a while."
"Ahh, I see. It's because Empire considers every Gem who were captured by rebels are traitors...am right?" Steven grinned as he knows the reason why Y.P needs to hide from Carnelian's Empire.
"You're smart...for a savage" She grinned as she starts having more interest in him "You're quite a correct one, human. When Pearl class like me gets captured by filthy rebels like you. She immediately considered being a traitor. Now I have no choice to run from Matriarch Pearl for the rest of my Gemstone's life."
"And where you want us to let you out?" Steven adds to his chain of questions.
Y.P thinks about his question. Instead of the direct answer, she asked this "And where exactly are you going, human?"
"To Noveria: There is hidden resistance base on that frozen planet" Steven confidently replies, there is no need to hide from her.
"Clod! What are you doing!?" Peridot exclaimed at him as he revealed their escape purpose to their biggest enemy.
"Ah-Ah-Ah!" Y.P showed a finger to Peridot's face which Peridot didn't like 's mocking and growled back at her. "And what so special about them?" Yellow P. asks Steven.
"As my friend told me, they recruit everyone to fight back the Empire, even ones who served under New Empire." Steven replied with a grin "They promise a protection to ones who serve for rebellion." He adds. After all, he knows that Yellow Pearl needs him in order to escape from Carnelian.
A smirk forms on Yellow Pearl's face as it's everything she should know about rebel's plans. She lowered her pistol away from him.
Peridot still aims at her back as she will not trust that clod immediately "Then I have "small" partnership offer to you. You and your crew will travel to that Planet with me. Once, we will be in that Planet, you and I will go to our own roads. "
"Then we have a deal" He offers his hand to shake as it's Earth's good old tradition.
Yellow Pearl looked at his hand in disgust, no wonder humans are disgusting "Don't touch me, you pathetic worm..." She threateningly muttered to him before she turned around to Peridot, who is still aiming her shotgun at Yellow Pearl "And tell your green bitch to stand down." She adds
"Please, Peridot..." Steven asked her politely. He then death-glared at Yellow Pearl, showing that he won't be "that kind Steven" in next time "For now" He added in the end.
Peridot exhaled and lowered her crystal-made shotgun from Yellow Pearl's back. She wished for another option.
Y.P cocked her head and grinned as she managed to win their little game "Good Gem...maybe one day, my ex-Yellow Diamond will kiss your durable fat ass before you will be shattered by the small accident." She laughed before she began to walk away from them.
"Oh, and human. Tell that Traitor Pearl" She turns around to him and smiles evilly "That will be all" Pearl purposely made her words as a little song. Then she left away to the only Goddess knows where.
Typical Yellow Pearl
Peridot then glared at Steven very angrily. He scratched his head awkwardly by her "I will shatter you" face
"Yeah, I-" Steven was about to explain only to be interrupted by-
"OH! AND DON"T THINK YOU CAN DOUBLE CROSS ME!" Yellow Pearl's voice can be heard from far away.
Steven and Peridot waited if Yellow Pearl would scream something new but she didn't. Steven decided to continue what he wanted to say.
"Yes, Peridot. I know: Much saltier than our Pearl. But don't worry about her, Peridot. Me and Celiana will watch on her."
"Who is Celiana?" Peridot suddenly asks, slightly being surprised for the strange name he said that she never ever heard off.
"Ye- I mean Yellow Diamond and me will watch on her" Steven nearly said that Yellow Diamond's real name. He lied to her as Celiana/Yellow Diamond asked him to keep her real name from others.
Peridot removed her visor that Ryder gave her and wiped her eyes from sudden tiredness "I just hope that Yellow-Clod-Pearl won't do something stupid. Those clods only can do is to moan at Diamonds how others are bad and they are good."
"And that is true, Peridot" He smiled, remembering Pearl's angry moments.
"Also, why she said "that will be all"?" Peridot adds, putting her visor on.
"Well...When we met Holy Blue Agate. She said, "That will be all" to Pearl which pissed her off. In the end, Pearl used the same quote to her before we flew back to Earth.
"Okaaaay..." Peridot became even more confused "Then how in the name of Clod Yellow Pearl knows that?"
Steven shrugged at her question. He doesn't know how Yellow Pearl learned that.
"Probably Agate told her." Peridot replies with a small exhale "So..." she then placed her shotgun on the back and relaxed against the wall "Why exactly you here, Steven?"
"Just want to hang out with you, Peridot." He replies with a small smile.
"Well then" Out nowhere, she hands him a really crystal made material wrench "You and I are going to fix my pipe!" She playfully winked at him after she giggled at her own words, giving a hint
Steven raised his eyebrow by her strange remark "I don't-"
"RIGHT KNOW!" She gripped her hand and made him run with her.
Sometime later of fixing "Peridot's pipe."
Corporal Gray went to Deck 5 to tell something important about their current situation. Once Elevator's doors opened for Gray to leave. He looked around to find them "Damn, where are they?" Gray mumbled to himself, imagining where these friendly freaks could be.
"Try harder!" Gray suddenly heard the scream. Sound's like Peridot's scream. That poor Gemdler slightly got scared by a sudden scream as her voice can be creepy for him.
"I'm trying! You're seriously making me tired!" Gray raised his eyebrow by that remark. Sound's like Steven's voice
"Look, the sooner you done with this. The better I will be!" Peridot scowled at Steven.
"Are they-?" Gray asked himself what they are doing.
"But it's too tight!" Steven whines. Gray blushed as dirty thoughts infected his mind.
"It's just a small opening!" Gray made slightly "eww" sound
"Ugh, fine, here we go." Then weird sounds began to happen. Gray can tell they are doing crazy stuff to each other.
"Yes! You are doing pretty well! Peridot screamed
"Ahh! Damn this thing!" Steven cursed for some reason.
"DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!" Peridot cheerfully chanted. And then another weird, unclear sound to Gray can be heard. "Yeah! Woohoo! You did it, my clod!"
"Phew, man that was hard."
"See, fixing my pipe it's not hard."
"Yeah..." Steven chuckles "I guess."
And then silence, Gray shook his head from all dirty thoughts. "Guys, I'm sorry to interrupt your stuff but what in the world are you doing "this" exactly here?"
"Oh, Gray, good to see you again. Climb into the hole to see us."
Gray growled as he crouched and climb inside into the small hole "Look, Steven. I know that you and Peridot are-" Gray stopped himself speaking when he saw them, he was so wrong about them.
Steven and Peridot are sitting on their knees; both are covered in sweat as they are still in their normal clothes. He is holding a wrench for some unexplained reason.
"Umm, what are you guys doing?" Gray awkwardly asks
"Peridot asked me to fix an oxygen pipe that was damaged during our escape. It's been hard to put the screws on the pipe." Steven explains to Gemdler
"And he did good" She crossed her arms and smirked, "I must say."
Gray face palmed as he witnesses the most awkward thing since his first birthday on Delta Kindergarten. "Crap...my mind is fucked up right now." He mumbled as he looked down and exhaled before saying what he came for in first place "Anyway. I talked with G.R.A intelligence about what happened to us on Earth. Once we will be on Noveria, our leader will seek you out."
"What for exactly?" Steven asks
"Dunno." Gray shrugs "Maybe like: tell your tail or something."
Steven gazed at Peridot who gazed back at him and shrugged "Okay then, Gray."
With a small nod, Gray turned left the hole and about to leave the current Deck when "Oh and Gray, Yellow Pearl is hanging around somewhere. Don't try to attack her, he made a deal with her." Peridot said.
Gray turned around and stared at nothing. It's unclear what his expression is due to his helmet and a mask covering his face. But it's defiantly a not great one.
He then lowered his head and muttered "Fuck my life" before he left to the elevator.
"Well, this definitely upset him" Steven pointed out.
"Weirdo" Peridot muttered at Gray's character.
"Yeah..." Steven smiled before asking something serious "Peridot?"
"Yes, my fixer mc dixer?" She playfully joked
Steven smiled at her joke. But turn serious due to he can't forget what he wants to say right know "I was thinking...Do you want to have some private time with me?"
His words made Peridot blush madly at him. "You mean to perform mate ritual?"
Steven slapped himself for inviting her in the first place. "Just...you know: spend time together, have a chit-chat and tell how we changed for 10 years." Steven corrected himself so that it won't be awkward for both of them.
Peridot scratched her cheek as she is thinking about it "Alright." She stopped scratching herself "But not right know, okay? I still need to work here."
"As you wish, Peridot. See you around" Steven patted her shoulder before he left the small hole. Peridot exhaled in relief "Why in the name of Clod he is so cute right know?" She blushed as some thoughts of him are getting in her mind...damn humans
"Happy beeping" Clody flew to her organic master, making 360 spin.
"I hate you so much, Clody!" Peridot shouted at Clody's pathetic "Sitting on the tree" jokes
Now to Steven.
Steven ventured back to the elevator to leave the engineering floor of SVE Gemia, only to see Yellow Pearl relaxing against the wall, having a grin on her face on him "So, I see that our filthy human and that green worker are together. How cute." She defiantly mocked him.
"Why do you care, Yellow Pearl?" Steven pressed a button to call an elevator and seriously gazed at "Salty Business Pearl".
"It just always impresses me. You humans always choices some peasants instead high-quality products like me to have romance." She mocked him more.
Steven let a small giggle after her words "Unlike your society, Pearl. We have a freedom to choose what we want to have a romance. That "Peasant" you refer proved to all of us that she is a good Gem and can be loveable."
Y.P blinked twice to process what he just said "Bah, you talked weird things. No wonder you were isolated in that pathetic planet of yours while your species were slowly dying out." She scowled
"And besides..." Yellow Pearl confidently laid her hand on her chest before continuing "Unlike that dirty peasant named "Filthy Peridot". I can provide any services that I assure you; everyone will be satisfied with my results."
"Aha," Steven sarcastically replied, "Even if I will ask you to polish my "spear" and make me impress by that. Will you do it?" He grinned, hoping to know how Y.P will react to the sexual joke.
"Sure, give me your spear and I will polish it." Snap, she didn't get that was a joke
"Actually, that was a joke." Steven can't hold a serious face after that "Did you read "The Lusty Argonian Maid" Volume 1 or Volume 2? If you want, you could be Lifts-Her-Tail while I'm Crantius Colto, you foolish little Pearl." Steven used the same quote from Gamebook
Yellow Pearl became furious, her furious face made Steven grin more at salty Yellow Pearl "Then I don't need stupid jokes from you! As I said, you should be with me rather than that peasant or that traitorous Pearl!" Yellow Pearl scowled again.
"So you are offering me to be your partner?" Steven crossed his arms and cocked his head, still having the grin on his face.
"Correct...Just because of you in love with peasants. It's my duty to fix it by any necessary means. But it doesn't mean that we will be in serious relationship. More like "buddies"
"Actually, Yellow Pearl..." The elevator's doors opened but Steven didn't enter inside to interrupt their conversation. He needs to tell something serious to that Pearl "If you want to know..." Steven leaned his face to her so that their mouths will be few inches away from them.
Y.P's cheeks formed a dark-yellow blush, can't handling the pressure from that human "Your ex-Diamond and me...are actually in the serious relationship right know." Steven continued.
Yellow Pearl widened her eyes when she heard that new type of insanity, blushing even more noticeable. Hearing this type of insane news makes her cringe like hell. "You seriously think I will believe in that?" Yellow Pearl snarled at him, trying to erase imagination of that human and her ex-Diamond cuddling against the tree.
Steven didn't answer to that. Instead, he grinned at her and entered the elevator.
He turned around to her for final round "Ask her if she won't be shy about it. She may even tell how we performed some sexual rituals to each other."
"Wh-WHAT!" Yellow Pearl panicked.
Steven didn't reply to her. He just pressed the button to Deck 2. He crossed his arms and grinned at panicking Yellow Pearl for the last time before the Elevator's doors closed.
The elevator began to move up. Even from the elevator, Steven can hear how Y.P curses a lot on her language. It made him form a smile "So much for her being a salty bird gem" He joked.
The doors opened and Steven left the elevator. First things first, he saw Yellow Diamond seeing on the chair, looking at the mirror as she is trying to fix her straight down hair.
Steven approached and took a seat near her. "Hey, how are you doing, Yellow?" He asks enthusiastically. You shouldn't be surprised.
"Much better" Yellow tries to make her hair into Yellow Diamond's classic pointy hair...but fails, making her upset even more (Okay, it's confirmed that Yellow Diamond wears a helmet in the show rather than I thought it's her hair. But I actually like the idea that it's her style of hair so I will continue)
"Your Pearl woke up" Steven replies, trying to not upset her.
Yellow annoyingly rolled her eyes as she laid her her mirror on the table. "Then I hope she can fuck herself to death."
"Still angry at her for what she did?"
"If you were a Diamond, you would be up upset too."
"If my Pearl betrayed me?" Steven repeated, this impossible as Pearl like a mother to him. Why should she betray him?
"Yes. Do you know how Diamond like me will be upset if she or he developed a relationship with her/his Pearl?"
"I thought you hate Yellow Pearl even before she betrayed you?"
"Not like every time but I'm okay with her most of my time being Yellow Diamond. I just wished to have Blue Pearl instead of my Yellow Pearl. That Pearl is more muted and quiet rather than mine."
"I see…" Steven rubbed his eye "Speaking of Diamonds. How do you actually become a Diamond?" He shrugs "I'm just curious as I don't know Homeworld's system."
"Well..." Yellow tries to remind how she did become like now she is "Well to become a Diamond it's not that simple as you think."

They admit that they didn't like Yellow's weak and passive ruling over Yellow Sector of Previous Gem Empire but they feel a pity for her as Empire declared that Yellow Diamond will be imprisoned until she will die of old age. After all, Celiana Tylat as Yellow Diamond was awarded for being the kindest and peaceful Yellow Diamond in history of Yellow Diamonds way before Carnelian's rise to power
And even more surprisingly. G.R.A stumbled on Rose's Crystal Gems Fleet orbiting around the Earth-like planet. Between two Rebel groups was formed an alliance to cooperate against Galactic Gemirian Empire.
This sounds great for them in the beginning but again they were all wrong. For one killed G.G.E's warrior, G.R.A losses 10 Gems. The Rebellions lost many outposts outside Noveria. Even Empire pushed them back into hiding again.

"We checked Mars, Venus, and Mercury for rebel's presence and found nothing, my lord. I'm sure they already left the solar system" The Star Destroyer's officer says trough Carnelian's holographic module.
"No, admiral. They still here as we didn't detect any hyper jumping from this system. Check the Gas Planets for now." Carnelian crosses his arms.

"Lord Carnelian!" Carnelian was about to leave the bridge when he heard that Admiral Rubicon called him
"Yes, Admiral. What is it?" He asks her normally as he trusts her more than others. Admiral Rubicon is mostly the only Gem that can complete her tasks without failures.
"My lord, we detect a transmission request from an unknown signal. It says only your eyes." Rubicon tied her fingers together behind her back.
Carnelian turned his back to her, thinking who it might be. He shivered as his brain gave him a variant that he won't believe it...but his mind says otherwise.
"No...it can't be" Carnelian realized who it might be. Just like his teacher and old proverbs said to him "You can't escape from your past."
"My-" Admiral was about to ask why her lord fell into complete fear.
"Rubicon, send a course to Homeworld." He began to walk away but stopped and turned around to Admiral "Colonel Redstone will deal with rebels in this system. It's more important than you think."

Carnelian ventured back to his private room. He approached to carefully to the computer and pressed on flashing button. Momentarily a holographic model of Ancient Female Destroyer appeared.
"Arkay Hanand himself, it's been a while "My old Friend" Female Destroyer grins behind her mask.
"Harbinger..." Carnelian murmured, feeling a very small pleasure to see her again "You didn't change since The Galaxy Destruction...is it your hair changed?" Carnelian mocked her.
He admits that between him and Harbinger was long time rivalry. They both were best learners of Destroyer's power abilities.
"Very funny, Arkay. I see that you humor skills are quite dropped since the last time I saw you..." Harbinger put a hand on her mask's surface "I wonder why"
Carnelian clenched his hand in anger as Harbinger reminded him who he was: An annoying little village teenager who even in fights joked at his enemies.

Carnelian made steps backward as sudden memories of how his own village burns in front of him appeared inside his mind, then how his mother dies on his hands and his wife dies from Aura Quartz. These three moments changed him into what he is now

Carnelian released a breath "Fine by me, Harbinger. And remember: I'm only doing this because our master wants that."
"Then until our meeting, Arkay" And they ended the transmission. Thank the Sovereign they finished "unpleasant long time not-see" meeting.
Carnelian fell on the nearest chair as the old past of being a High Priest came back to him. The worst thing for him he promised to Golden Diamond that his past is completely forgotten to him and it won't come back to his life. And again his promise was a complete false to him.
"I'm so sorry, Allia" Carnelian starts tearing a little bit "I broke my promise to you...but as my people said "you never will escape from my own past"
He clenches his hand in anger as they were so right "And they were right..." He repeated to himself
Carnelian removed his old religion mask and stared at it. His own mask is a big part of his past life. His mask and he had so much history.
And it's not surprising for him. In Destroyers culture: Mask represents a true face of the owner. The High priest never showed their true faces to the public as It believed that it destroys his connection to the dark side of Sovereign's powers.
But if High Priest removes his mask in front of a woman, it shows that he respects her or even wants to have a romantic relationship with her. It didn't work for some of the High Priests he knew when he was one of them. They preferred to keep their faces inside their decorative masks.
Speaking of decorations: The mask's decoration showed what owner accomplished during his life. Carnelian admits He didn't accomplish that much while being a priest in Dark Order: making it mostly a very clean mask. But he never minded as he never liked their religion that much. He spend so much time to be brave enough to remove his mask in front of Golden Diamond...to show that he really loves her...
It believed that if High Priest would remove his mask with no purpose, then Sovereign: The Dark Lord Of Destroyers and Creators and Great Conqueror of the Galaxy will unleash his hatred to him trough very bad curses...it made him think
