Crystalandra lay quietly beside her sleeping mate listening to his contented breathing; Lumar had his big arms wrapped securely about her as though he feared she would try to make her escape from him. Each time she squirmed to make room for herself, he would tighten his embrace pulling her closer to his body. Eventually the she-cat gave up her struggle resigned to the fact that the tiger had no intention of letting her go. Was it so bad? In a sense she supposed, she had to thank the Tiglon for pushing her into the arms of a man who actually cared…no wanted her. It was obvious Argo had no intention of making her his woman after all the things she had done for him and the personal sacrifices she had made. Crys silently cursed the Tiglon this was his entire fault…It was his fault that she now belonged to the Beni; she turned in the tiger’s strong arms wanting to get a better look at him. As she gazed upon his sleeping face she wondered if what Tee-Lara had said was true. Was he able to defeat her because his love, his desire for her was strong? Well, it must be…no man—Sh’iar or the like had ever been able to conquer her in battle but it took this tiger to do what no man had been able to do. She sighed and gently traced a finger across his facial contours taking note of his unusual markings…Lumar was definitely unique…Although he had the primitive cat features of the ancients, he was still a very striking tiger, his looks were quite regal. Crys wondered again about his heritage—he had to be mixed with another breed which would explain why he was so incredibly big and muscular. Maybe Lumar would tell her when he was ready…She sighed again; this time the big cat slowly opened his emerald green eyes and gazed lovingly back at her, a large smile touched his lips. “Are you ready for another round of lovemaking?”
*********************************************
Schwenk and Lumar got onto the bus to make the journey to the Cats Lair. "So...how was she?" he asked the still beaming tiger. The Beni sighed happily. "Just great...She is highly spirited like a tigress!"
"But she is still a Sh’iar..." he warned kindly.
Lumar turned abruptly to look out the window at the passing traffic. "Why must you spoil my happiness??"
Schwenk sighed. "I am not! You gave me free reign to ask questions...you said yourself! I'm glad you're both happy...I truly am...stop being grumpy!"
"I'll stop if you quit saying things to make me grumpy...Can't you just be happy for me? I don't understand why you insist on squashing my contentment. Have you heard me put down your Siberian tigress?"
"Only because she's all positive. Have you forgotten we killed a Sh’iar priest?? Can there be a greater crime against Crys??"
Lumar regarded Schwenk. "I know what YOU did and I am paying along with you for this crime...Please...change the subject Schwenk." The big cat opened his eyes wide. "What happened to your neck...it looks like you've been bitten."
"Oh...erm...I was going to tell you...I...I think I'm....married..."
"Married?" The Beni choked. "You? Wait...you didn't go through the mating ritual with Tee-Lara did you?"
"Well...it just kind of...happened..."
Lumar shook his head. "I never in a million years expected that you would take the plunge and so quickly!"
"Nor I...but she was quite insistent as you can see from my neck..."
"You managed to mark her as well with your blunt human teeth?!"
"She ended up opening her skin with her claw...and I drank the blood..."
Lumar again shook his head. "Yes I would definitely say you are now officially bonded for life."
"It's a good thing...I hope you're happy for me...us..."
The tiger made a face; he was silent for awhile before answering. "Yes...congratulations...I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into especially mating with a Siberian."
"Oh thanks!!" he snorted. "What a wonderful speech!!" he said with derision.
"Well brother...I am speaking freely...giving you MY opinion." Lumar folded his big arms. "Even I haven't gone that far yet with Crys."
"Only because she won't let you..."
"We will in time...There is so much I need to learn about her." He growled.
"I was going to say something cutting...but I won't because I'm officially changing the subject....and we're nearly at work, too..."
Lumar glanced up and quickly pulled the stop; they climbed off the bus and headed towards the Cat's Lair.
Their entrance into the massive building was halted by two ThunderGuards that stood at attention guarding the place. "Halt--show your credentials." The first guard intoned.
Schwenk offered the letter from the agency. "I believe we're kitchen and waiting staff.....sir..."
The paper was quickly seized and scrutinized--everything being in order, the document was handed back and the pair was waved inside. "Wait there a Snarf will fetch you for kitchen duty."
"Great...” Schwenk muttered. "OK, Lumar...you're a kitchen hand and I'm a waiter and general facto tem so between us we should get good info...We'll meet up on breaks hopefully..."
Lumar sighed. "I think I would have preferred to have been a waiter...They will probably have me doing dishes...I hate doing dishes."
"You being a waiter? They'd end up grateful if it was only your thumb in the soup!" he snorted.
"I think I would have made a great waiter!" The big cat replied with a tinge of ice in his voice; he noticed a small brown furry creature waddling over to them. The snarf snapped his fingers. "You two...quickly come this way!"
"Yes, sir..." Schwenk replied snappily and they walked into the bowels of the Cats Lair.
The snarf cast a quick glance up at Lumar. "You're a huge tiger--never seen a cat your size...you're full of muscles so we'll have you moving heavy equipment and helping with washing." The snarf then scrutinized the human. "You smell like a tiger...good thing that way the ThunderCats wouldn't want to eat you. You'll be serving their meals."
"Excellent.....erm.....Your name??"
“Hmmm...what?" The Snarf asked distractedly. "Oh...I haven't introduced myself...It's Egbert...You will both report to me if you have any questions...Hmmm yes...I also need to know your names as well."
Lumar smiled. "You can call me Lumar or Lumie...I'll respond to either."
"My name is Gaston Schwenk; most people call me Schwenk..."
Egbert nodded. "All right fine...Lumar you're in the kitchen...and you Schwenk...I will be getting you a uniform."
The snarf herded the two friends into the kitchen where other humans, Snarfs, and small domestic cats worked bustling back and forth preparing the ThunderCats’ meals. "Schwenk, step into my office a minute...I need to give you some last minute instructions."
"OK...I’ll see you soon, Lumie..." he walked into the office. "Yes, sir...you wanted to see me about something?" Schwenk acted totally subservient. The office was, to say the least, functional...and cluttered.
"Yes..." Egbert rounded his desk and sat; he opened a drawer pulling out a dress uniform. "You'll change into this. Now there are three simple rules for you to remember when serving the ThunderCats especially Lord Lion-O himself. Firstly, you will not engage his Lordship in conversation unless he speaks to you directly. Secondly, you will avoid looking directly into their eyes...to do so is seen as a challenge. Thirdly, you will ensure you are well groomed...always wear gloves when handling their meals."
"Yes, sir...and may I say what an honour it is to be picked for a job with such high esteem. I will not let you down or found wonting..." he bowed slightly.
Egbert absently nodded. "Yes...yes...of course...now hurry along and change. You will be carrying his Lordship's midday brunch up to him."
"Yes sir..." he grabbed the uniform and changed. He walked into the kitchen beaming with pride.
Lumar on the other hand looked absolutely miserable--he had on a white apron and his arms were soaking wet from washing dishes. He saw Schwenk. "Well someone is all dressed up."
"I am indeed...serving the Lord, no less....how are those dishes going?"
The big tiger snarled. "I'm not sure how long I can last doing this! I am not a dishwasher--this isn't fair!"
"Shhhh....just do a good job and you'll get promoted...Hell; I may even put in a good word for you..."
"You put in a good word for me? I rather take my chances then and wash dishes. Schwenk...you should hear the gossip! I haven't been here long and already I know who's graced his lordship's bed chambers!"
"Ooooh....make sure you write it down or remember it....it'll be solid gold, mate..."
Lumar frowned. "I don't think that is something the Sh'iars want to hear." He shrugged. "Anyway I best be getting back to work."
"We don't decide what is good or not....remember everything!"
"All right." He agreed and stalked off. A bobcat approached Schwenk. "Hey you...new hire...we've got his Lordship's meal ready. Grab the tray over there and go upstairs...You can't miss his quarters."
"Yes, sir..." he put his gloves on and carried the tray. He entered the service lift and travelled up a dozen floors. He knocked politely on a frankly amazing mahogany door.
"Enter!" A gruff voice barked.
He opened the door and closed it behind him. He walked over and placed the tray on the desk at which the ultimate alpha male sat. Schwenk said not one word.
The Lord of the ThunderCats nodded to the human servant; he raised his head appraising the server. "You're new aren't you?""Yes, my Lord..." he bowed.
"Hmmmm...thought so...your smell is quite unusual...you carry the scent of a tiger. Now why would that be?" The red-headed lion asked lifting the cover from his meal.
"My Lord, my mate is a tiger..." Schwenk avoided eye contact.
"Is that so? A tigress would choose a human to be her mate...now that is quite interesting." The Lord leaned back in his massive chair. "You may look upon me human...I will grant you that...Does your female work here at the Lair?"
He looked at Lion-O. Wow, he is certainly imposing and intimidating! He thought. "No, my Lord....she is not employed here..."
The Lord of the ThunderCats nodded...normally he would not normally engage the servants in conversation but his mind was troubled and he needed a distraction...any distraction. Lion-O scrutinized the human. "What is your name servant?"
"Schwenk, my Lord....Gaston Schwenk...." he bowed. "At your service..."
"Tell me Gaston Schwenk as you no doubt live among the Thunderians have you noticed anything out of the ordinary? Perhaps noticed unusual activity in the vicinity of our gracious city?"
"Unusual, my Lord....in what way unusual?"
Lion-O rubbed his chin wondering how much he should say. "Oh...strange armoured figures..."
"You mean Sh’iars? But they're not unusual, my Lord....just an unfortunate part of the scenery..."
"Yes...yes of course...never mind." The young Lord was going to say something further but a knock sounded at the door. "Get that will you?" He commanded.
"My Lord..." Schwenk bowed and walked over and opened the door.
A blue panther pushed past Schwenk nearly knocking him down. "Lion-O, you have got to do something about that crazy-headed bitch!"
The lion frowned. "Not again...what has she done? I don't understand why that Tiglon can't control that female." He motioned to Schwenk. "You may leave."
He gave a smart bow and left. He trotted back down to the kitchen to await his next task.
Lumar came into the kitchen bearing a basket filled with potatoes; he took a seat at the table. "I've got to peel all these for their supper." The tiger grumbled. "So what happened upstairs?" he asked Schwenk.
"Only spoke with redhead himself...Panthro nearly squished me with the door and something about a Tiglon....Not sure what that's about!"
"The only Tiglon I can think of is Argo." Lumar picked up a potato peeler and set about his task. "There was talk in the cellar about the ThunderCat’s summer home being burnt down to the ground. The ThunderGuards are out there now as we speak."
"Who would do that?" he wondered. "Seems a bit bizarre...burning down a summer house....not exactly crime of the century..."
There was excited babble; a group of small spotted ocelots came breezing into the kitchen.
"...I can't believe it! Would the Sh'iars really do something like that?"
"Well, we know it has to be the work of one and you know how much she loves to burn things!"
"You know Lion-O just doesn't know what to do about her...Even the Sh'iar can't control her!"
"I thought he kicked her out?" The cats went sailing past Schwenk and Lumar giggling.
"Dammit...Lumie...stop them and ask who they're talking about...."
The tiger gave Schwenk rather pained look. "Why? Who cares?"
"Just do it...I'll explain later!"
Lumar sighed, but he complied rising rather reluctantly to chase down the ocelots. He disappeared after them returning shortly with a curious expression on his face.
"Well? Who were they gabbling about?"
"I can't believe it...from the description they gave it sounds like it was Crystalandra...She burned down the ThunderCat's summer home!"
"Hang on...I feel a set-up here....How the hell does Lion-O know her already? They also said 'kicked her out'...Lumar....what's going on?"
"Damned if I know...It couldn't have been her. When we left, she was still in bed. I don't understand!"
"OK, we just keep observing...and Lumar....amber alert, OK?"
The tiger nodded. "Perhaps I should leave...head home and see if she is all right?"
"No!!! They'd never let you come back..."
"I'm confused...Do you think she did something stupid to jeopardize everything?"
"You want an honest answer from me?"
Lumar sighed. "You're going to voice your opinion whether I want to hear it or not...Go ahead."
"She's working to a plan…we're just part of that...nothing more..."
"I refuse to believe that! What kind of plan? Are you saying she is double-crossing us?"
"Yes, but I'd rather have this conversation when you're not looming over me with a peeler in your hand..."
Lumar glanced down at his clenched hand. "Sorry...I forgot I was holding it...All right...I'll keep my ears peeled to so what's going on."
"Thanks...you'd better get spudding..."he winked and looked for Egbert for more work.
There was a tap at Schenk's waist; he turned and lowered his gaze, a small Persian motioned. "His lordship wants you to bring him a bottle of sherry."
"Certainly....where are they stored?"
"Down in the wine cellar...that is where we keep the best for him...Be quick about it he sounded rather impatient."
He nodded and he went to the grand cellars. Make sure I take home a bottle or two of this he thought. He grabbed a bottle and went back into the service lift. He knocked on the door.
"Gaston Schwenk if that is you, come in." Lion-O called.
He opened the door. "Your sherry, my Lord..."
"Good...good...pour a glass for Panthro and myself." He turned back to the raging Panther. "This is a reoccurring problem we seem to keep having especially with her..."
Schwenk went to the glasses and slowly poured two Sherries. He took them over. "My Lords, your drinks..."The lion accepted the drink quickly draining it and held out his glass for more.
Panthro nursed his. "Well you have to do something...This has gone on long enough!"
Schwenk took the lion's glass and refilled it. He took it over to the lion. What a waste of vintage sherry! He thought in contempt.
Lion-O gave a dry laugh. "There isn't much we can do...What can we possibly do against the Sh'iar? We need their money...it is what keeps New Thundera going." He drained his glass and motioned to Schwenk for a refill.
Panthro frowned. "You better go easy on that Lion-O."
"With respect, my Lord, vintage sherry really ought to be savoured for the rare commodity it is...maybe I could bring you a beer?"
"Did I ask for your opinion Gaston Schwenk? Refill my glass." Lion-O ordered.
"My Lord..."he bowed and refilled the glass.
The lion again quickly drained his drink. "Tell me Gaston Schwenk...if you had the problem of dealing with unfriendly kin, what would you do?"
"Back home we'd send them to get a job a long, long, long way from home..." he smiled.
Lion-O threw his head back and roared with laughter; he thumped Schwenk heavily on the back. "I like that...quite good. Now what if those kinfolk were Sh'iars? What would you do to keep them in line?"
"Brick them up in a cellar, my Lord!"
The young Lord hooted with laughter; Panthro stood. "Lion-O I think you've had enough to drink..." The panther frowned down at Schwenk. "You may go...have the kitchen send up black coffee for his Lordship."
"Of course, Lord Panthro..." he bowed and headed for the door.
Lumar was still at the table peeling potatoes; he glanced up when Schwenk returned, "Everything all right?"
"Seems your female is well connected!"
"What do you mean Schwenk? You're speaking in riddles."
"I think Crys was a ThunderCat and maybe she is related to Lord Lion-O..."
"WHAT?!" Lumar dropped the peeler he was holding onto the floor along with half the potatoes he had finished peeling.
"From the lion's own mouth!"
The tiger rested his big arms on the table. "I really don't know anything about her...what other secrets does she have?"
"Lumar....do not jump to conclusions...I can't believe I'm saying this, but we need to give Crys a chance....and I think Argo is playing us..."
"Wait...Lion-O actually said he was related to her?"
"Isn't that what 'kin' means?"
Lumar blinked. "He used the word, 'kin' in a sentence? Are you sure he was referring to her?"
"Almost certain..."
"I guess I don't dare mention my mate is a Sh'iar."
"No!!! Anything but that..." he looked around the bustling kitchen. "I'm sorry you've been lumbered, brother...it wasn't my choice..."
"Well there's nothing I can do until I get home and confront Crys about this." Lumar gathered the potatoes that had fallen to the floor; Egbert came rushing in.
"Lumar go out to the meat cellar and bring in five of the royal buffalo...You should be able to handle it." He stared at Schwenk. "You can go on your break...his Lordship says you may use his private line to call your tigress."
His brow furrowed. "Really? He said that? Seems awfully generous...Where may I take my break?"
"You truly made an impression on his lordship." The snarf commented waddling away. "Follow me...I will take you up onto the second floor...there is a private room you may use where you can relax."
"Many thanks...are food and drink provided in there?"
"Of course...everything...There is a tray of fruit, cheeses, wine, and bread. Eat as much as you like...I dare say I have never seen Lord Lion-O take to any human!" Egbert muttered.
"Except in a sandwich..." he chuckled jokingly.
"Yes...precisely." The snarf answered, his tone was quite serious; he pointed to the room. "You have an hour for your break."
"Thank you very much..." he sat down with some cheese.
It wasn't long again that the door opened and in walked the huge stately lion himself. "Gaston Schwenk...I hope all is to your satisfaction."
"My Lord..." he stood up sharply, dropping his food.
"Please...sit...I did not mean to startle you." Lion-O strolled in and took a seat across from the human; he raised an eyebrow. "I thought I told Egbert to furnish you with Sherry? In any case, how are you making out?"
"Yes, sir...very well...finding my feet and everyone has been most kind..."
"Good..." The Lord of the ThunderCats leaned forward. "I will explain why I am here Gaston Schwenk...I do find you to be quite fascinating for the mere fact your scent is mixed with two different tigers...Why is that?"
"Two?" he paused and thought. "Oh...oh...my best friend, no....brother is a big bengalian male...he does play loose with his scent and licking at times..." he chuckled.
Lion-O raised a bushy eyebrow in surprise, "A Bengalian? A Beni associating himself with a human? Now that is quite interesting and I am sure there is an equally interesting story there about how you two became acquainted. Does he work here also at the Lair?"
"He does, my Lord...he's grumbling his way through a ton of potatoes feels it's beneath him...if you want my opinion, if you want a sparring partner, you cannot get better!"
Lion-O chuckled. "I highly doubt he would make a good sparring partner, Beni's are quite small and lean...I would more than likely hurt your friend."
"Small? Lean? No, sir...He's big, tough and as mean as you tell him to be..."
"Not possible Gaston Schwenk...A big Beni? You say your friend is working in the kitchen? Fetch him...let me see this 'big' tiger for myself."
"Shall I bring him to your office, my Lord?"
"No...bring him here...Tell Egbert I am giving you an extended lunch break and have him send up some sherry too."
"Yes, my Lord..." he bowed and practically ran downstairs. "Egbert? Where is Lumar?"
The snarf frowned. "He is in the meat cellar bringing up the last of the buffalo...why?"
"Lord Lion-O commands his presence, and mine...and a bottle of sherry....sir..."
Egbert dropped the clipboard he was holding. "W-what? His Lordship wants you two AND a bottle of sherry!" He sputtered clutching his chest. "What have you done to him?"
"Nothing, sir...
Lumar came into the kitchen with 8 massive buffalo carcasses on his back; he slammed them on the table. "That's the last of them in addition to the 5 I brought in." He glanced at the hyperventilating snarf. "What's wrong with him?"
"Come...we need to go to meet a VIP..." he told Lumar.
"Who? What's going on?"
"Come..."he walked up to the room and opened the door. "After you, Lumar..."
The tiger gave Schwenk a quizzical glance and entered; Lion-O studied the Beni and softly whistled. "Gaston Schwenk, you weren't joking...this is a huge Bengalian!" The lion approached the bewildered Lumar circling. "You are nearly as tall as I am...quite broad, and muscular!"
"Maybe a better fighter as well..." Schwenk dropped in.
"Are you a good fighter?" Lion-O asked.
"I like to think so, my Lord..."
"What is your name tiger?"
"Lumar, sir..."
"...And Lumar you were placed to work in the kitchen to work among the lesser cats? Well...I will have to change those arrangements." Lion-O continued circling the big cat; he motioned to Schwenk. "Gaston Schwenk clear off that table, I would like to arm wrestle with Lumar."
"Erm...yes, my Lord..." he quickly emptied the sturdy oak table.
"Come Lumar...I want to arm wrestle with you...I want to see how strong you are." The two big cats sat facing one another.
"Are you sure, my Lord?" Lumar looked confused.
"Why wouldn't I be sure? I need a sparring buddy...someone to help me hone my fighting skills. I want to test you out...so to speak." Lion-O rested his massive forearm on the table, palm open inviting Lumar to a match.
Lumar shrugged and sat opposite the lion. He clenched Lion-O's hand and applied pressure.
"Gaston Schwenk...you be the judge..." Lion-O struggled to wrestle the tiger's arm down, but it was difficult; both felines grunted and growled under the pressure.
Schwenk noticed the table groaning, but still there was no movement one way or the other. "OK, Lumie...stop taking it easy on him now..."
The tiger's lips peeled back from his teeth revealing black gums and long dangerous looking canines; Lion-O took this all in stride--he also had his lips skinned back showing long sharp canines. Both cats were snarling...
"I'm giving you gentlemen both thirty seconds, if no victor presents himself....I'll call it an honourable draw..."
The table gave a large audible crack splitting in two--well that ended the match right there!
"Well, gentlemen...it is a draw...So please return to your corners, put your teeth and bollocks away, and shake hands..."
Lion-O roared with laughter over this and slapped his huge meaty thigh. "Well...Lumar would you like to be my sparring partner? The job is yours if you will take it...Get you out of the kitchen where it is obvious you don't belong."
"With all due respect, Lord Lion-O....I am Lumar's agent...you'll have to go through me..."
"Is that so?" The lion inquired sizing up Schwenk. "Does he not have a mouth with which to speak?"
"Yes....mine...."
He cocked his eyebrow. "Be careful how you address me Gaston Schwenk...you do not want to get on my bad side."
"I apologize, my Lord...I was, of course, making light..."
"Well then Gaston Schwenk, if you are his agent, does he have permission to be in my personal employment?"
"What shall be my job position?"
"You are a cheeky one, Gaston Schwenk...Let's say it will be your job to ensure that Lumar here is in good health, happy, and properly attired. You shall be his personal butler."
His eyes widened with horror. "His...p-p-personal.....b-butler???"
Lion-O nodded. "Yes...is there a problem? I don't think there is one. Gaston Schwenk, turn on that table lamp, I want to have a better look at Lumar here."
"Y-yes, sir..." he turned the lamp and saw a gleam in Lumar's eye. The kind of 'gotcha' gleam from Lumar.
"Lumar, step forward...closer into the light." The lion commanded. "Hold out your hands palm side up."
Lumar did as he was asked and stood in the light, palms up.
"Your hands have seen hard work...slightly scarred." Lion-O commented; he then stared directly into the tiger's eyes. "Your eyes are green...I've never seen a Beni with green eyes...how unusual. What is your parentage if I may ask?"
"It's...erm...complex, my Lord..." he gulped.
Schwenk chipped in "My Lord, Lumar has come from a painful past and does not often talk about his parents..."
"Hmmm...I can sympathize with that...It's of no importance then...I detect the scent of a female on you...Are you mated?"
"My Lord, sorry....again...That situation is indeed complex and, well; Lumar here is getting over a messy breakup..." Schwenk again added.
Lion-O nodded in complete understanding. "Then it is up to you to help him get over his break up Gaston Schwenk...I want Lumar here to be happy." He turned abruptly. "You both may leave for home, but be back at the Lair early by at least 0600hrs since there is much to be done. Gaston Schwenk I leave Lumar in your capable hands...take care of him."
"Yes, my Lord..." he tried to suppress a groan. He knew Lumar was liable to becoming insufferable. Lumar had been waiting years to be 'top dog'.
As they left the lion's presence, Lumar grabbed Schwenk by his collar. "Why did you tell him I was getting over a break up? I don't get you? I never said I was going to end my relationship with Crystalandra!"
"You dummy...I was throwing him off the scent!!"
"I'm confused!" The tiger wailed. "Well Schwenk you heard his Lordship, you've got to take care of me! You can start by ending my confusion!"
"If I tell Lion-O you're going through a messy breakup he will not probe further....you do NOT want him to know you're nailing Crys!!"
"But doesn't it mean we're family then? I'm sure he would be delighted to know."
"Oh you really are an idiot!!" Schwenk snorted.
"Ah Schwenk...I wish you would stop calling me that...I admit there are times when I have difficulty processing things but I am not a complete idiot." He sighed; Schwenk threw up his hands in the air and pulled ahead with Lumar meekly following.
"...and if you think that me being your butler means you're going to boss me around....think again!!"
"Oh I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing...although I am hungry."
"So? Go get a biscuit...I saw that look on your face to Lord Lion-O...you're not fooling me, stripes!"
The big cat stopped his tracks. "If you want me to be happy AND to be pleasant to his lordship, get me some food NOW!"
Schwenk paled. "I beg your pardon....don't you take that tone with me!!" he growled.
"...And don't you growl at me...I am hungry! Or would you like me to go back to Lord Lion-O and tell him you're not being nice." Lumar threatened liking his new found power...oh it felt so wonderful to be able to boss the human around.
Schwenk suddenly realized he had cowered at Lumar shouting. He was indignant and was about to snap back when he heard his voice saying. "Maybe we could stop early on the bus and stop for some food..." Aaargh!! He thought, Bastard brain, you traitor!!
The big tiger actually beamed over this change in Schwenk but toned down his demand, "Yeah that would be nice...perhaps you can pick up something for Tee-Lara as well."
"Yeah, maybe ribs, steak or even some liver..." he supposed.
"Not...micrits? I thought that was a delicacy that she adored?"
"Don't push me, furball..." he growled again.
Lumar shrugged. "Schwenk you are being awfully touchy...I thought as a newlywed your head would be in the clouds in love...But you're cranky."
"Mainly because I'm not in love with YOU!" he grumbled.
"I'm hurt...you should be since we are brothers." Lumar replied removing his apron and chucking it aside. They headed out the large gates and were now out on the streets of New Thundera walking to catch the bus. "Schwenk...should I confront Crys about her...uh...activities? Ask her if she knows anything about the fire that was set to the ThunderCat's summer home?"
“No way...she'll slice and dice us all...secrets are good...so keep 'em..Got it?"
"Okay...you know what's best...Uh should I tell her that I'll be Lion-O's exercise buddy?"
"Hmmm....yes, that should be OK....but you open your flappy mouth about me being your...your...'personal butler' and I'll be personally shoving your tail up your butt!!" this attracted a few looks from passers by.
Lumar blushed. "Did you have to blurt that out loud enough for EVERYONE to hear? Geez Schwenk...don't embarrass me!"
"Well....." he folded his arms. "Where the hell does Lion-O think he gets off....ordering me that kind if shit!"
"He's the Lord of the ThunderCats and King of New Thundera...That's where he gets off telling you what's what..." The tiger looked off dreamily to one side. "Imagine being born with a silver spoon in your mouth...you giving orders and everyone listening because you are royalty! I would love to live in his shoes..."
"Yeah? You already smell of cheese!" Schwenk snorted.
Lumar didn't let this rebuke bother him. "Lion-O is the SUPREME alpha male...He barks an order and everyone listens! And the women...do you know that he has a harem of lionesses? How nice is that?!"
"Oh wonderful! A whole room of bitchy, arrogant, self-opinionated lionesses...Heaven!" he snorted sarcastically. "Well, Lion-O has done me a favour...this new role means I can sit on my butt doing fuck all, all damn day!"
"No...Don’t forget you will be catering to me...you'll be my 'man-servant'. I'll make sure you're kept busy." The big cat replied grinning. The bus they were riding on stopped in front of a posh Butcher shop; Lumar peered through the glass ogling the many cuts of meat. "Shall we go in here?"
"Fine....Whatever!" he snorted and he disembarked the bus. "Don't even think about ordering me about, stripes, I know you handle disappointment badly!!" he poked the tiger in the chest.
"Yeah...yeah..." Lumar brushed Schwenk's hand aside and went into the meat shop.
