Chapter 2: The First Trip
Just so anyone reading knows, I do have a picture of my OC on Lyoko on my deviantArt page. Name on there is AssassinAltair93. I was big on Assassin’s Creed at the time :x
Just do me a favor though; if you’re gonna flame or be an ass, then don’t leave a comment. I work hard to do this and take criticism seriously.
“Ok, someone needs to start explaining what the hell is going on here.” I said, demanding an explanation to what I heard and was seeing.
“Jeremy,” Aelita started, as Jeremy started typing quickly on the keyboard in front of him, and brought up a hologram behind the screens of different areas.
“Well, I think we can trust you Ryan, so I’ll make this simple. Lyoko is a virtual world, sort of like a video game. There is a virus out somewhere in the network called X.A.N.A. that’s been causing us problems for quite some time. Downstairs from here is a room with three large scanners, which we use to go to Lyoko to stop X.A.N.A. by deactivating towers.” Jeremy explained. When I interrupted and asked, “What is it that X.A.N.A. uses these towers for exactly.”
“X.A.N.A. is capable of controlling anything electronic, human, animal, or inanimate and use it against us. That’s why we go to Lyoko to deactivate the towers. And before you ask, Aelita is the only person capable of deactivating the towers. I’ve been working on a program so that one of the others can deactivate the tower, but with every code I try, I can never get it to work with anyone.” Jeremy continued and finished by asking me, “any questions?”
“No, that was pretty clear to me.” I replied. “Hmmm, maybe I’m the key to all your problems, Jeremy. I think that I can really help…” I started to say as the computer started beeping like crazy. “What is that?”
Jeremy then turned to the computers and started typing furiously and then said, “Theirs an activated tower in the Ice sector. Ok Ryan, this is your chance to prove yourself, as long as you swear to keep quiet about this.” Jeremy said, as all eyes turned on me, a serious look on everyone’s face.
“You guys have my word that I won’t tell anyone. I promise.” I said, hoping that reassured them.
“Ok, all five of you, head to the scanners, hurry!” Jeremy said.
I followed the others onto the freight elevator as we went down to what Jeremy and the others called the Scanner Room. When the door opened, all I saw was a yellow lit room with three giant scanners in it. ”Ok. Odd, Ulrich and Ryan, you’re up first.”
“Ok Jeremy.” was Ulrich’s response, followed by Odd saying, “Ready when you are, Einstein.” And then I said, “Uh, Jeremy, how exactly does this work?” a little worried and scared at the same time.
Aelita answered my question by saying, “Just step on, face the door, and try to relax.”
“Ok.” was all I could say back. I stepped into the scanner, turned around, and watched as the doors closed in front of Odd, then Ulrich, and just as the doors in front of me closed, Yumi said, “Don’t worry, you’ll be ok.” And then the doors shut.
"First, I have to scan you into the super computer so that you will be immune to the returns to the past." Jeremy said. A few seconds later, the doors opened, and Jeremy said, "Welcome to the group, Ryan. Now, get ready for virtualization." Then, the doors closed again.
Then, I heard Jeremy’s voice come on over a speaker and heard him say, “Transfer, Odd. Transfer, Ulrich. Transfer, Ryan. Scanner, Odd. Scanner, Ulrich. Scanner, Ryan. Virtualization.” I then felt a rush of air across my face and saw a bright light envelope me.
Next thing I knew, I was falling to the ground feet first, and managed to land on my feet. “Whoa. I feel so much stronger.” I said as I stood up and looked myself over, I was wearing all black armor, and black cape and helmet, with the exception of red ankle braces and red glove on my left hand. I also had a chain crossing my chest from my right shoulder and wrapping around, holding a large, jagged blade. I also had a chain belt, which held one of what appeared to be a lightsaber, and noticed a second one on the chain crossing my chest. On my left arm, was a golden shield with a silver disc locked in and a strange symbol that looked like an eye. On my left shoulder was a thick, spiked shoulder guard. Attached to the inside of my shield, was what I assumed was some kind of blaster, but would figure that out later. I then saw Odd as a giant purple cat and Ulrich a samurai with two swords on his back, when I heard two small thuds behind me. I turned around to see Yumi and Aelita stand up after being virtualized.
“Welcome to the Ice Sector of Lyoko, Ryan. What do you think?” I heard Jeremy say form I don’t know where.
“It feels like I’m in a dream, but I’m pretty sure I’m not asleep.” And just as I said that, I felt a sharp pain in my right shoulder and saw a small (best way I could describe it) electrical current around it. I turned around and saw a giant crab walking toward us and shooting lasers from its eye. “What the hell is that, other than the obvious?” I asked, grabbing the sword off of my back.
“A Krab, and it doesn’t look too happy to see us.” Ulrich answered. “Just hit the target on top of it.”
“Oh great, now I know that this isn’t a dream.” I said as I charged at the Krab with my shield in front of me, deflecting each shot it took at me. When I got close enough, I slid under it, and using my large blade, I swung at its back legs, slicing them clean off, jumped on top of its head, and brought my sword down into the “target” that was in the same emblem on my shield, jumped of and watched it explode.
“Hmph, not bad for a rookie.” I heard Yumi say from behind me, while I put my blade back.
“Hey, when you got it, you got it.” I said back.
“Well don’t get too cocky Ryan, that’s what happened to William, and now he’s under X.A.N.A.’s control.” Yumi said back, her left hand on her hip.
“Wait a second, you’re telling me that Williams been here? Jeremy, what is she talking about?” I questioned, to which Jeremy replied, “I’ll explain later. Right now, you guys need to get to the activated tower.”
“Just tell us which way to go Jeremy.” Aelita said.
“The tower is North Northwest from your current position. I’m bringing up your vehicles now.” Jeremy replied, as I saw a bike, a board, and a scooter appear. “Sorry Ryan, but until we figure out what you’ll be using to get around Lyoko, you’ll have to get on the Overbike with Ulrich.”
“No problem.” I said as I got on the Overbike behind Ulrich. “Ok, lets go.” I said just before we sped off toward the tower.
-A few minutes later-
We were almost at the tower when a group of Hornets started to attack us. Odd, Aelita and I were taking them out no problem, but whenever one was destroyed, another would take its place. I used my shield to keep shots from hitting the Overbike. When I swat a shot away, a silver disk flew out of my shield, hit a Hornet, and reloaded into my shield. “Nice.” was my only reaction.
We almost reached the tower, where there were two giant steel black balls outside guarding the tower, and a dark figure between the two, who I assumed was William. “Um, Ulrich, what are those?” I asked.
“Megatanks. Worst thing to go against, and nearly impossible to destroy.”
“Oh perfect, sounds like fun.” was all I could say back, sarcastically.
I then heard yells from our left, and I saw Yumi losing control of the Overwing as it devirtualized and she and Aelita were sent to the ground.
“Yumi! Aelita!” I yelled. Concerned, I jumped off the Overbike and ran over to help the girls, trying to hit the Hornets with my flaming arrow launcher and blocking the shots from the Hornets with my shield.
“Yumi, Aelita, are you two okay?” I asked as I got to them, still trying to get rid of the Hornets that were still focusing on me, while Odd and Ulrich dealt with William and the Megatanks.
“I’m okay, how about you Yumi?” Aelita replied as she got up, while asking Yumi the same question.
“I’m good.” Yumi said as I hit the last of the Hornets dead on.
“Alright, if you two are ready, let’s go help Odd and Ulrich.” I said confidently as we rushed toward the tower.
By the time we got to the tower, both Megatanks were gone, while Ulrich was still fighting with William, but Odd was nowhere to be seen. We had almost made it to the front of the tower to give Ulrich a hand, when I heard a moan from Yumi, who was right behind me at the time. I turned around to see her being devitualized. “Yumi!” I cried out, and saw a Hornet fly off. I started taking shots at it, when I saw the blast from another Megatank one second too late. “Aelita, hurry and get to tow-“ I was cut off when the blast from the Megatank hit me.
Next thing I knew, I was back in the factory, and collapsing just as the scanner doors opened. Yumi rushed over to help me up and asked “you okay Ryan?” obviously concerned.
“One word. Ow” was all I could say, as I stood up holding my left thigh.
“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.” She said as we walked over to the elevator, my right arm slung over Yumi’s shoulder as she tried to keep from falling over again.
I couldn’t help but feel nervous when I was around Yumi. Ever since I met her, I had been attracted to her, but I’ve just never had the nerve to tell her how I actually feel. I guess I’m still waiting for the right time.
We got on the elevator and went back up to the computer lab, where Odd was sitting up against the wall, probably bored after being devirtualized, when he noticed Yumi and I coming out of the elevator. He stood up and ran over to take me from Yumi and set me up against the wall while I slumped down to the floor. Odd then said, “So, what do you think?”
I jokingly replied, “What do I think? I think you’re all crazy for even starting this thing up.”
To which Odd said, “If you’re going to blame anyone, then it should be Jeremy.”
“ODD!” Jeremy didn’t seem too happy about that joke.
“Well it’s true. If you hadn’t turned on the supercomputer, none of this would have happened.” Odd said back.
“Maybe so, but we also never would have met Aelita or have found a way to materialize her.” Jeremy replied.
“Oh yeah, so I guess it’s a good and bad thing that you did that.” Odd said, laughing nervously.
Then, Ulrich and Aelita walked out of the elevator and onto the room, after deactivating the tower. When everyone was settled in the room, I said “Ok, now that everyone’s here, can someone please explain why William is on Lyoko and playing for X.A.N.A.’s team?”
“Well…” Yumi started to say, but then Jeremy said, “I’ll explain it.”

I use deviantArt because I’m not quite sure how to describe it in a written format, even with how I described it in this chapter, and hopefully it will help you guys understand how I fight on Lyoko. I also have an idea for my Lyoko vehicle, called the Overcycle, so your thoughts on that too are appreciated.
