hey everyone im so happy that people seem to like this! With only 2 stories of Fillmore it's surprising that anyone would read this lol here is the Act 2
The next day Fillmore was sitting at his desk looking at a picture of Wayne and him on a boat. He sighed deeply as he thought about his best friend. Wayne has changed his life completely and now he was all but gone. Since he came to XU he had been a thorn in Folsom’s side. Being a criminal was his life. He wanted nothing more than to steal anything he wanted and didn’t care who he hurt. Until he had been hauled in for boosting a dry erase marker shipment and Wayne had asked him to make a choice. Solve another case or be sent to jail. The rest was history now he had to deal with a new partner. The door to the headquarters opened and silently Fillmore thought ‘Speak of the devil’. Parnassus and Vud walked inside as Fillmore looked at his watch. “Your shift started 28 minutes ago.” Parnassus scoffed slightly. “Sorry I had some unexpected-“ “I looked at your file.” He picks up the file he had been reading before Parnassus came in. “Why would the smartest guy in school sign on to walk a Safety Patrol beat?” Parnassus slightly glares. “Well not that it’s any of your business but I feel I need to give a service to my fellow classmates.” Fillmore raised an eyebrow. “Please… let me look at the clubs your in. Protractor Club, Chemistry Club, Pre-Med club. I know the type. Already trying to look good for Harvard Medical School. It’s silly man.” Parnassus smirks putting his hands into his pockets. “It’s silly not trying to get into the best Medical school in the country. It’s silly not doing everything you can do to ensure your future.” Fillmore snorts. “Let me guess Vud is your only friend.” Parnassus lifts his head snorting. “Academic’s like us don’t have any use for friends.” Fillmore rolls his eyes before the sound of several students crying out outside the headquarters reaches his ears. Fillmore ran over to the door and opened it seeing a green haze in the air. “Stink bomb… big one. Come on Parnassus we got to help.” Fillmore covered his nose as Parnassus coughed holding his mouth. “No… it’s a wall of odor!” Parnassus and Vud slammed the door cutting them off from the stink. Fillmore sighed deeply and walked towards one of the kids that was leaning against the wall. He gently turned them as the boy looked at Fillmore very dazed. “I was just on my way to class when the hallway started to reek so very badly.” Fillmore nods. “It’s gonna be ok. Pull your shirt over you nose and come on.” Fillmore gently led the kid away before finding others. Soon the stink had been vented out as Stumpy the janitor was slightly fanning himself while the sound of Raycliff, the vice principal, voice came out of Folsom’s office. “Eight trips into the stink, twelve students pulled out. Fillmore… the Folsom administration thanks you.” Fillmore held the blanket around him as Raycliff held his nose. “Hey… It’s what I do.” Vallejo held his nose before looping a pine tree car air freshener around Fillmore’s neck. Principal Folsom burst through the door looking at Fillmore. “You tell me what you need, anything. Days off? Extra parking spot? Free credits for the rest of your semester?” She takes a deep breath in before scoffing. “Now that’s a stink. It’s like pickled fish gusts put through a sewage treatment plant.” “A brilliant metaphor Principal Folsom.” Everyone looks over to see Parnassus and Vud standing in the doorway of Folsom’s office. Parnassus looked smug from Fillmore’s point of voice. “Parnassus… what are you doing here?” Vallejo asked as Parnassus steps foreword. “I have a theory as to the identity of our malodorous malcontent. I believe the culprit is… Ingrid Third.” Fillmore raised an eyebrow. “Do you have any evidence?” Parnassus looked at Fillmore as if he grew a second head. “Well… she is the woman that announced to the entire student body that this school stinks.” Fillmore sighs softly rubbing his forehead. “Parnassus… if that’s all you got-“ “She also has a history of discipline problems, they weren’t in her file but I called around.” Parnassus takes the file from Vud and hands it to Fillmore who opens it up. He looked at the school picture Ingrid had taken for her driver’s license. Her charges were from back talking, destruction of property, theft, and several other minor infractions. ‘Hm…’ Fillmore thought. ‘She and I have a lot in common but none of this has to do with a stink bomb.’ Fillmore handed Parnassus the folder before looking at him. “The past doesn’t equal the future Parnassus. Judging people that way is easy… but it doesn’t always lead to the truth.” Parnassus rolls his eyes. “Speaking from experience Cornelius?” Fillmore glares at him while the blonde hands Principal Folsom the file. “Well… here’s the file Principal Folsom, by the way… you look radiant.” Fillmore raises an eyebrow before standing up letting the blanket fall away. “Come on Parnassus.” Parnassus raises an eyebrow looking at Fillmore. “What for?” Fillmore walks towards his car and drives Parnassus and Vud towards a bank about 10 minutes away. Fillmore got out and walked towards the doors. Parnassus sighs deeply. “Cornelius why are we at the bank?” Fillmore stops and turns to him glaring slightly at him. “You had a theory about Ingrid, but you didn’t have any proof. So I’m looking for some, one way or the other.” Fillmore points to the road. “This is the way Ingrid takes to get to school.” Fillmore turns and points to a bank ATM near the red light. “And contrary to popular belief the walls don’t have ears, they’ve got eyes Parnassus.” Fillmore led him inside the bank and met up with Trent, a bank security officer. He led the three young men into the back where several security monitors were put. “Hey Trent… thanks man.” Trent clamps his hand on Fillmore’s should with a smile. “Hey, Fillmore, I owe yea. Where’s Wayne man?” Fillmore tensed slightly before looking at the screen. “He transferred.” Fillmore looks up and stands up. “Hold up… well lookie here.” He points to a monitor where Ingrid was seen driving what Fillmore had found out was her father’s car. “Ingrid Third driving to school. Read the numbers Parnassus.” Parnassus squints. “08:47:23.” Fillmore smirks. “Disco! Stink bomb went off between a quarter to 9 and 10 after. The Chem. Club said someone had to set it off. Sorry Parnassus, Ingrid didn’t do it.” Parnassus nods then looks at Fillmore. “Then let’s get back to school and find out who did it.” Fillmore raised an eyebrow at Parnassus who led Vud out. He didn’t trust Parnassus. He was up to something and he knew there was something wrong. He walked back to his car and drove back to school. Fillmore walked into the outside of the interrogation room, where Vallejo and Folsom were looking at something through the two-way mirror. Folsom takes a bite of a cookie before putting her finger to her lips. “Shhh… The girls talking.” Fillmore blinks and looks over seeing Raycliff with Ingrid in the interrogation room. “Yes… I, Ingrid Third, planted the stink bomb.” Fillmore’s eyes widen as he turned to Vallejo. “She’s lying!” Vallejo turns to him with a raised eyebrow. “Now why would you care Fillmore? It’s not like your mind was really in this from the beginning.” Fillmore glares. “What’s that supposed to mean?!” Vallejo turns. “You’re still pissed about working with Parnassus. You say she’s innocent only because he says she’s guilty.” Fillmore glares and steps over. “You’ve got to be kidding me Vallejo! I have never let my personal feelings get in the way of a case!” Vallejo glares and walks past Fillmore. “Whether you like it or not Fillmore we have someone who has confessed to the stink bomb. Now go and take her to the holding room.” Fillmore watched Vallejo and Folsom walk out. He sighed and looked at Ingrid through the two-way window as she sat there. Fillmore rubbed under his glasses before walking out of the room and into the one with Ingrid. She didn’t even turn as he stepped over. “Come on Third.” Ingrid grabbed her bag and stood up slinging it over her shoulder. She didn’t even look at him as he took her arm into his and led her towards a room that was very familiar to him. It was a large all white room that had black words painted onto it. It said THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’VE DONE. Fillmore gently led Ingrid to a seat where she sat down and stared straight ahead. “Some room huh? I practically spent my first 5 years in here. Till that is my former partner, Wayne, drafted me out of life of crime and into the Safety Patrol.” Fillmore leaned against the main desk in front of her forcing her to look at him. Her glare normally would have forced anyone to leave but there was something about this woman that spoke to Fillmore. “Your lying Ingrid. You didn’t do it and I can prove it.” Ingrid shrugs. “So what? Listen they’re going to expel me and I want out. Why would I want to stay in a hell like this place?” Fillmore leans foreword. “I have an ATM tape that proves you weren’t anywhere near the school when the stink bomb was set off.” Ingrid glares a hole right through him. “And I have an eggplant that looks like Fred Durst. Did you hear me? I don’t care! I just want to forget you people and this place.” Fillmore moves foreword and slams his hands on the desk looking down at Ingrid. Ingrid sat back fast looking up at him. “Don’t say you people. Because this person’s been out there busting his tail trying to clear your name! And what do I get in return?” Fillmore moves back glaring slightly at her. “A fucked up eggplant.” Ingrid couldn’t stop the smile that forced its way onto her lips. Fillmore felt his own smile come up as he noticed her face lit up when she smiled. “Well what’s this? Joan of Arc cracked a smile!” Ingrid felt her cheeks heat up as her smile fell slightly. Fillmore moved over grabbed on of the desks and sat in the chair in front of her. “Ingrid… you didn’t do it. Don’t take the fall because of a hundred fools who want easy answers.” Fillmore gently took her hand into his. Ingrid looked at him in surprise as he continued. “You’ve got a friend at XU… me.” Ingrid looked at their hands before looking into his brown eyes. She smiled slightly gently turning her hand over grasping his. “You know… I was thinking… if one person other than that… welcome wagon girl is the least bit nice to me by 2 o’clock. I wouldn’t confess to doing something I didn’t do.” Fillmore chuckles and grips her hand tight. “I would have done more, but I was busy trying to clear a friend’s name. Cornelius Fillmore.” Ingrid smiles softly. “Ingrid Third.” Fillmore smiles as Ingrid lets go of his hand. “Oh I meant to give this back to you.” Ingrid reached over grabbing her bag and pulls out the cortizone cream. Fillmore chuckled and shook his head. “Keep it. I can always get another tube.” Ingrid blinked then smiled. “Thanks.” Later that day Parnassus was standing by a storage room where the stink bomb had been planted. Fillmore walked up with Ingrid by his side. Parnassus raised an eyebrow. “What’s going on?” Fillmore gestured to Ingrid. “Folsom released Ingrid into my school day custody and gave me more time for the investigation. Now on to the first order of business.” Ingrid stepped over to the storage room and looked at it. “Liquid stink and stink powder.” Fillmore looks at her. “Come again?” Ingrid stood straight and looked at Fillmore. “Standard ingredients in a stink bomb like this. There’s a prank company named Yucks Co. that makes liquid stink and stink powder. We should start with them.” Parnassus smirks crossing his arms. “You seem to know a lot about stink bombs.” Ingrid glares. “What’s that supposed to mean?” He snorts. “Sorry I just have an ethical problem working beside criminals.” Ingrid steps foreword glaring at him. “You know nothing about me.” He smirks. “Well you see I do know you confessed so that just reaffirms my belief that you did it." Fillmore stands between Ingrid and Parnassus and glares at him. “Parnassus you saw the tape. The fact she confessed means nothing.” Parnassus glares at Fillmore. “Did you see her record?” Fillmore turns completely with Ingrid behind him. “Have you seen mine? I used to be going in the wrong direction. That changed because someone looked beyond the hype.” Ingrid’s eyes widen as she looked at Fillmore. So her knight in black armor was a criminal too? Ingrid mentally kicked herself. He was a Safety Patroller, there was no other reason he was helping her than the fact that he believed she was innocent. He didn’t do it because he liked her or because he felt something for her. This is what got her in trouble before and she wasn’t about to go back down that road. She finally snapped back when Fillmore spoke again. “Listen Parnassus, your smart, but you just don’t want to think. This person looks this way so they have to act that way. They talk like this so they have to do that. Life ain’t that easy man. You’ve got to dig deeper. I wouldn’t be here if someone didn’t do that for me.” Parnassus lowers his head slightly. “Maybe your right Fillmore…” He looked at Ingrid. “I’m sorry Ingrid. I may have judged you must too quickly. I think I have a lot to think about… and perhaps… apologize for.” Fillmore sighs and nods. “Why don’t you help us find out who did this first? Can you call the local joke shops and see if anyone has bought up a bunch of liquid stink and stink powder?” Parnassus smiles. “Done.” Parnassus and Vud walk down the hall as Fillmore turns to Ingrid. She looked up at him and smiled. “Thank you.” He raised an eyebrow. “For what?” She smiles and gently pats his shoulder. “For being a good friend.” She walked past him. “Now where to?” He smiled and walked after her. “Safety Patrol HQ. We need to find students with a pension for stink bombs.” Ingrid nodded before Fillmore leads her to the head quarters and to the empty desk next to his own. Fillmore pulled out files on several students and broke them in half. Half to him and half to Ingrid, which left her watching him. The way Fillmore moved it reminded her of a cat. Quiet and meaningful. She quickly turned away and picked up a file. She started to quickly look through each file. Fillmore looked at her oddly. “Are you reading those files?” Ingrid grinned softly. “Yea, photographic memory. This school… you have kids with firearms, trading card sharks, test paper peddlers, but you don’t have any rebels.” Fillmore chuckled. “That’s why you got to stick around.” The door of the office opens showing Parnassus not looking so happy. “I’m … sorry Fillmore.” Fillmore looks at him. “About what?” Parnassus steps over to the desks. “Ingrid.” Ingrid raises an eyebrow sitting up. “What about me?” Parnassus glares at her. “That you’re a criminal.” Ingrid sighed heavily rubbing her forehead. “And we are back to this again.” Fillmore growls and stands up. “Parnassus I swear I just had a conversation with you about this.” Parnassus looks at Fillmore unfazed. “I just got off the phone with Lemy’s Bulk Prank supply.” Fillmore glares. “And?” “A girl fitting Ingrid’s description bought enough stink powder for two mega stink bombs that afternoon.” Fillmore’s eyes widen as he looks at Ingrid looks at Parnassus and rolls her eyes while the blonde continues. “That same afternoon, Ingrid took her razzing so badly. Ingrid, I here by retract my previous apology. Shame on you.” Parnassus turns and walks towards the door. “I’m sorry but I need to get home. I have a Swedish test in the morning.” He takes off his belt and hangs it on the wall as Vud does the same and leaves. Fillmore looks at Ingrid in shock. “Ingrid… you got an explanation?” Ingrid stayed silent before standing. “No explanation needed. Looks like I’m guilty.” She said matter of factly. “You’re the only person in this whole stupid school that believed in me and it looks like you were wrong huh?” Ingrid starts to walk out. “Case closed.” Fillmore watches her before stepping over. “Ingrid… I need to know the-“ “Truth? Here is it Fillmore.” She turns when she gets to the door. “I’ll see you at the expulsion hearing Monday.” Ingrid stepped out but opens the door long enough to grab Parnassus’s belt. Fillmore watched Ingrid leave before falling into his chair. He rests his head in his hands. Could he have been wrong about Ingrid? Could he have let her pretty face charm him into thinking she was innocent? He had to find out.
