Violet eyes stared back into the flawless face that stood before the mirror. She did not recognize herself and neither did the people of Eternia. She knew that if they knew she was in the Palace, there would be a riot. Even though they wanted to show her mercy, she was not so sure they wanted her next to the ruling party. Lyn looked down at her golden-skinned hands and rubbed them together as if trying to get use to the new skin. It was a startling difference from her paleness, but it saved her life for the time being. Eventually, the spell would fade away and her real identity would return. The people would turn against her, possibly the Prince, and his family. Lyn knew the Sorceress hoped that by that time, she carried the Eternian heir. Such a situation would crush any hope of Skeletor returning to power.
Violet eyes returned to her face as she stared at her reflection. How did they know her appearance? Was the Greyskull warrior telling the truth about Skeletor’s betrayal? Lyn shook her head and turned away from the mirror. He would never betray her.Flowing white fabric slid across the shining floor as she walked towards her open balcony doors. The warm breeze greeted her as she stepped out into the sunshine. There were mountains and hills of green grass as far as her eyes could see. The garden of the queen surrounded the east side of the castle. This was Adam’s wing and she now belonged to him.
Lyn’s hands tightened in her shimmering morning dress. He owned her. He probably walked this land many times and soon he would do the same to her.“Your fear is unfounded. The Prince will not force you to do anything you are not ready for Lyn. ”
The apparition appeared beside her. The witch turned angrily from the beauty before her and walked back into her room. “Go back to Greyskull and celebrate your victory. There is no need for you to constantly remind me of my servitude to the Prince. ”
“You are not a slave Lyn. There is goodness in you. I have seen it. ”The words stopped the witch from opening her door. A moment of weakness in front of her enemy was something she could not take back. Just before He-man and his allies captured them, Skeletor wanted one of the traitors in his army destroyed. He chose Lyn to carry it out because she always did what his bidding. She looked into the faces of the man and his wife and saw their fear as she raised her scepter to cast a spell. The small children running to protect their parents reminded Lyn of her own life of death and despair. No one showed her family mercy; why should she? “That means nothing. ”
“You saw yourself in them; a scared young woman without any good guidance to lead her in life. It is a shame I did not find you. You are a powerful woman Lyn. ”The witch ignored the last words coming from the apparition as she opened the door and saw Captain Teela standing there with another guard. The man beside Teela straightened his stance, as did those behind him. This was the new Princess and they wanted to show their respect.
Lyn saw the disgust on her rival’s face as her men bowed to her in unison. “Good morning Princess the royal family await you in the dining hall. My name is Rain and I will be your personal protection as ordered by the Queen. ”The witch smiled up at the green eyes behind the golden mask. “I must thank the Queen for her generosity; sending me only one of her personal guards must be a testament to your greatness. ”
Whisks of dark hair fell to his broad shoulders as the man bowed again. “The Queen wants you safe until the Prince returns tomorrow. ”Panic crossed the Princess’s face and Teela smiled for the first time that morning. She argued with her father for the better part of the morning about her new assignment with training the recruits and not protecting Lyn. Duncan said it was out of his hands once the Queen got involved there was nothing he could do. Teela was sure her mother had something to do with the Queen’s decision. Rain was Adam’s best friend and only was better than he was, the Prince Adam.
Anger began to grow within her body as she lost her smile. The witch was beautiful. The flowing white gown boasted gold embroidery along the breast area and edges of the sleeves. Gold even skimmed the train trailing behind the dress. Her golden skin glowed. It made her sick. She smelled of soft lavender. They spared no expense for her…their former enemy, but the witch would always be her enemy. She would not let Lyn forget the evil she had done to the people of Eternia. She would not rest until everyone saw what she did. Lyn was evil and nothing good would come from her. Her mother was the cause of all her problems but her father did nothing to help her. He always agreed with her. They did not want her happy. They did not care that this fake Princess was their enemy. They did not care that she was dangerous and would strike when they were not looking. Why had Adam married her? Why did they think a child would slow Lyn to evil? She had no goodness within her. She had no right to bear the child of the Prince. She had no right to enjoy his attentions.Teela returned her focus to the stunned but beautiful witch before her realizing that her husband was returning early. Lyn could trap him with her looks. She could control him with her voice that could be as sweet as honey if she wanted. Though she had tried the same thing with the Prince, he seemed immune to her. She was sure that was her mother’s influence. She had to find away to keep Adam away from Lyn. If she had to, she would make the witch disappear to save the people of Eternia.
“Shall we move to the dining hall Princess?” The sneer in her voice was not hard to miss; even Rain looked over at her with a guarded expression. Lyn looked over at her adversary with dark eyes and a smile. “Please lead the way Captain. ” Her voice was sweet as a Princess should be and the men behind them made a path for them.

The thick forest hid the Prince from his quarry as it lowered its head to drink the cool water from the fast flowing river. The huge buck would be the best meal he had all month while on the hunt for more of Skeletor’s men. He had captured all four of his prisoners as Prince Adam. Sometimes it felt as if He-man has lived out his time. He had more time to see the Eternia he fought to protect. He actually enjoyed having more time to spend with his family…and his new wife. His concentration began to slip as thoughts of returning to his unwilling wife ran through his mind. She knew the conditions of her death reprieve. He wondered how long it would take her to honor them. The Sorceress had set a time of one month or the sentence of death would stand again. Lyn did not want to die. She had stated that repeatedly when they captured her. She was still weak from the transformation and unable to fight them. She did what she did to preserve her life to fight another day. He would not permit her to harm another soul. He would do what the Sorceress wanted and turn the witch against Skeletor. The deer moved slightly into the river to eat some of the aquatic plants growing along the bank. Adam’s attention returned to his prey for the moment. If the deer went any, further into the water he would have to fight the current to retrieve his dinner. Adam raised his black bow and realigned his aim. He released the arrow and the deer fell.
Garrick heard the heavy footsteps crunching the dry leaves leading towards their camp and smiled. The blond Prince was drenched from head to toe from the river. “We should let you hunt more often. ”
Adam smiled and set the 500-pound deer on the ground. He had already gutted the animal. Two more men in the camp came over to the deer and began skinning it. “Your mother is going to cry when she sees your short hair and the dark mold growing over and under your lips. ”
Adam raised an eyebrow at his Sergeant. “She will burn all the spine bushes in the country then. She will understand that I do not have a shaver and it is cold at night. ” Garrick laughed. “Soon it will not be so cold at night. ” The other men chuckled. Adam smiled. “It will be as if a blizzard has landed in my bed. ”Uncontrollable laughter sprang up in the camp. Garrick rose from his seat and swatted the Prince on the back. “How could she resist you? If the Sorceress personally picked you to turn the witch she must know something about her we do not. ”
Adam shook his head in agreement as he and Garrick walked towards his tent. Cringer as usual lay outside of it guarding what lay inside. He had changed a lot since the capture of Skeletor. His courage knew no bounds. The men relaxed even more when they knew the big cat was on guard. The two men walked inside of the Prince’s tent and Garrick suddenly turned serious. “I do not like the reports that are coming from the Palace. The Queen removed the Captain as Lyn’s personal guard. She has replaced her with my little brother Rain. Perhaps your bride is in danger without you there. ” Adam pulled his wet shirt over his head and threw it onto a pile of dirty clothes. “You think someone in the palace besides my family and some of our trusted people know who she is. ” Garrick moved closer. “I think it is someone we know that wishes the Princess harm. You should return tonight. ” “You want me to cause unspeakable horrors for my wife. ” The smile from the Prince made Garrick chuckle. “No…. all of your clothing is filthy and you cannot go shirtless. You would have all the women from the countryside mobbing us. Some of us love our wives and if news of this got back home we would have to blame you and cause a severe rift within your army. ” Adam walked over to the pile of dirty clothes and began searching through it, smelling them to find one that did not stink so badly. “You just want to see me chase a woman for the first time. ” Adam flicked a pair of trousers at his friend. Garrick sniffed them, made a face, and threw the offending piece of clothing out of the tent. “Yes I want to see you do something other than snap bones and slit throats. We want a well rounded Prince and besides she is not going to sit on your lap unless you put her there. ” The smile on Garrick’s face earned him an avalanche of filthy garments in his face.Adam smiled and grabbed a towel to dry the very short hair on his head. “Perhaps I will see about my wife and prove to you and the others I am a well rounded Prince. ”
Garrick gagged as he threw the last group of shirts away from his face. The Sergeant smiled at his Prince and motioned for the steward from the palace to come inside with the Prince’s formal attire. They heard Adam moan. “How long have you planned this Garrick? Since I signed the marriage decree?” Garrick only smiled as the steward moved towards the Prince." You did not bring the sword did you?” “What sword are you speaking of my lord?”Adam began smiling, as did the steward. Garrick bowed to the Prince as the steward walked from the tent “I will alert the men and tell them that we are going home. ”
