The royal life of Amalia Sheram Sharm continued as normal. She was still away on engagements and bureaucratic ceremonies several hours a day. She was still needed for legal judgements and royal appearances. Her wrist was still sore… from doing the obnoxious royal wave to the masses, perched atop a dragonturkey. But now, she had a meaning behind it. Because after all the noise, all the ceremonies, she was not alone anymore. And she would sneak down into the Sadida sanctuary any chance she got. There, beneath the largest tree in the forest, in the glowing walls of the sanctum of the tree of life was the Eliacube, protected by the brave young guardian of Grufon, the map Shushu.
Ok, so maybe a bit of that was wishful thinking. It was, quite disappointing to Amalia to learn that Yugo came to see the cube as a part of his studies. Apparently, they recently recovered ancient texts after Adamai learned to take on the form of a fish, and visited islands flooded during Ogrest’s Chaos. So a large amount of time was spent digging through books, in the sanctuary of the tree of life.
Which is where she was headed, after another busy day.
Amalia’s bare feet dug into the ground, feeling the cool, wet mud. With bounce in her step she passed through the antechamber of the tree of life, filled with wisps. She paused briefly for a look. Whether she would admit it or not, a part of her wanted to see one spirit in particular. The one that left her. But more pressing matters called, and the Sadida princess quickened pace. A hidden door opened as she approached, roots shovelled the earth out of the way, revealing a room lit with bulbshrooms. The Eliatrope raised his head from behind a stack of papers, and a faint blush passed across his cheeks. He was likely still embarrassed about the incident on the balcony.
”Got a minute? I brought you some spinach soup”
”Erm, thanks Amy. Sadida cooking sure is interesting!”
Amalia approached. The table was cluttered with artefacts and texts. Some appeared to be ancient, partially turned to dust, written in draconic. A few were scrawled by prophets and madmen, in handwriting resembling that belonging to a dragonturkey while being prepared for a Fangsgiving feast in Katrepat. And another kind. The text was neat and tidy, written with mechanical precision. The notebooks were hundreds of years old, dating to the early days of Ogrest’s chaos. And they all bore a signature, NC.
”Who wrote those?” asked Amalia.
Yugo picked up a cracked picture frame from under an old journal. On it were three children, a woman with an hourglass figure and a face faded so badly it was impossible to tell her hair colour. And… a blonde man wearing a watchmaker’s ocular. The glass framing was cracked right over his face.
”Nox”
Amalia stared at the portrait, at the faces lost so long ago. Is that what drove Nox to madness? She noticed the Eliatrope’s spirits sinking as he looked at the picture. She couldn’t really tell what was going through his head, all she could do was guess.
”Remember, you are not like him. You are using the cube for good.”
”That’s not it, Amy.”
”You are smarter than him.”
”You’re wrong. He was a genius/”
”Then what got you so worried?”
”I saw you die, Amy.” Abruptly interrupted the kid. After a few seconds, she shock sunk in, and he continued. “Nox won. He beat me, and activated his machine. It worked, but only for twenty minutes. But the worst…” his voice started to break “…is if I didn’t fight him, Grovy would still be alive. And probably many Sadida killed by Deserboss” Yugo looked up, tears streamed down his cheeks, dripping off his chin and unto his apron. “I got Grovy killed. If I stayed and helped you and Grovy… If we let Nox win, he…”
”Don’t say that. You had no idea.”
”I should’ve…”
”Stop” her finger pressed on his lips. Then, one at a time, she wiped his cheeks with her soft, caring hands. “You don’t know what would have happened if Nox went unchallenged. If no one stood up to him, he may have tried again, and rewound only one minute.” That was a lie. Amalia had no idea how meta-magic artefacts worked, but seeing her friend suffer was not worth if’s and maybe’s. Her hands held up his cheeks “I know for certain… you saved us all”
A weak smile returned to Yugo’s face.
”Thanks, Amy.”
He picked up one of the notebooks and started leafing through it. Precisely detailed blueprints filled the pages. There was a motorcycle with cogs for wheels. A syringe designed for either Wakfu or oatmeal consumption. An electric emitter welded into a glass tube with a flat edge in a wooden box, labelled life force consumer. A collar charged with time magic. Then there was some kind of… rounded metal tube with a battery and an imbalanced motor inside. They turned the page… Yugo stared at the detailed diagram, then sat up.
”I didn’t see this before.” He said, peering into the complex notes. He picked up a large lens with both hands, held it up to the cube and said several words backwards. The glowing cube reversed it’s spin and it’s sides shifted in different directions, seemingly unconnected to each other. “Look, Amy” he held up the lens for the girl, angling it at the cube.
Amalia looked, and saw Eliatropes! It was a picture like the one inside the Oma island caverns. Small people in funny hats, wielding the power of teleportation. There was some reference to a goddess Eliatrope and the construction of Zaaps, but the rest was very confusing. Something about an evil Eliatrope and dragon, and a pair of heroes that would stop them…
While she looked, Yugo kept holding the lens. To his surprise, he found it to be acting in two directions. He could see Amalia’s arm, but a floral bracelet she wore was absent. Apparently, the lens was somehow filtering only Wakfu-bearing objects, leaving everything else transparent. He swallowed hard. He tilted his head ever slightly, to bring her body into the objective, and sure enough. The princess’ wide leaf skirt was gone, and he could see her supple, naked thighs. Yugo’s breathing deepened. Amalia shifted in her seat, momentarily spreading her legs and he got a look at the faint green patch of hair, hiding between her thighs. His face went red.
”Yugo are you ok? You look tired”
”Oh, erm, the lens is heavy. I should put it down before i…”
”Let me help you”
She took hold of the metal-wrapped crystal and held it to her chest. Yugo almost fell over, as from his angle, the girl’s ample chest pressed right on the glass. The brown knobs of her nipples sunk into the soft auveoli under pressure.
”Where should I put it?”
”On- on the table is ok.”
She laid it flat, then looked back at Yugo. Her dark fingers touched the blushing boy on the forehead.
”I hope you don’t have a fever. Do you want to see a doctor?”
”Oh no, I’m fine.” Chirped the boy, feigning enthusiasm “I better return to my studies”
Amalia shot him a smile, and then got up on her way. Yugo looked at her as she walked, then back at the lens. Then back at her. Then back at the lens. Sadly he couldn’t see that way all the time. But maybe… He grabbed the crystal and jumped through a portal, reappearing a few feet behind the girl. He held up the lens, peering through, savouring the glimpse of the girl as she walked up the steps. The luscious brown body moved with regal grace, her hips swayed with every step, the soft thighs hypnotically inviting him, between. Right amid her cheeks he could see green fuzz, but it was too dark and too far away to make out the rest. Yugo took a step closer, when the lens became blocked by something brown. He lowered it and came face to face with the doll of the tree of life.
The little doll looked him in the eyes, then at the lens. It took hold of the lens and lowered it unto the ground.
”I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…”
Then it grasped the Eliatrope’s hand and pulled it in the direction Amalia went, nodding.
”Oh. Okay, I will go to her”
