Hey people thanks for you patience, so here is the new chapter and remember I don't own anything.

Chapter 2: The Original Mission

It was supposed to be a simple mission, easy in, easy out. Jinx, Ripcord, Flint, and Scarlett were dropped into the jungles of the Congo River Basin with no problems. They started near the river, and followed it North towards the Central African Republic where their pickup was. It was a three day trek, just trying to find Intel on Cobras new scheme or even his new base. They got some good pictures of Forest Elephants and Jinx even caught a glimpse of the rare Mountain Gorilla, but they got no hint of any Cobra activity. On the beginning of the third day about an hour after they broke camp, they were about four and a half hours from rendezvous, and they were climbing through some fairly large roots when their mission hit a snag. Jinx and Flint were on point with Scarlett and Ripcord bringing up the rear as Flint tripped over a root and sprained his ankle. While Scarlett and Jinx were bandaging him up, Rip was doing a perimeter sweep and was behind a large Evergreen when Scarlett heard a noise. She took about six steps and was about to call out to Ripcord when the ground disappeared from under her and she just fell. Jinx called out to Ripcord as she dove to catch Scarlett, but a panel disguised as forestation slid back over the hole and there was no way to reopen it. Ripcord saw Jinx lying on the ground and for a moment thought that she was injured, he looked to Flint to see that his expression was mostly shock and when he noticed that there was no Scarlett he understood that they were in deep shit. He got the story from Jinx before telling her to radio base and inform them of the situation while he tried to open the hidden panel.

“Mongoose Base, this is Canopy Recon 2,do you copy?” Jinx said into the satellite phone.

“Canopy Recon 2, go for Mongoose Base.” Came the operator.

“Command, we need emergency E-VAC. We have a man missing and a man down. I repeat a man missing and a man down. We are four and a half hours S-SE of rendezvous point Zulu. We need emergency evacuation and a recovery team sent out.”

“Roger that. Continue to extraction, E-VAC and Recovery team en route. ETA ninety minutes be prepared for Chopper extraction.”

“Roger Command. Canopy out.” Jinx said before turning to Ripcord and Flint and relaying the info. Nobody was saying anything but they knew that a trap had been triggered and it was apparently set for Scarlett. There was no way to help her until the Recovery team arrived and they got more info on the situation. But they knew it was bad. Cobra always has a reason for doing things, and for him to kidnap just one person means that he has a specific plan just for her. Jinx and Ripcord began to make sure Flint’s ankle was as stable as possible before bracing him between them and carrying him to a clearing. Sixty minutes later they heard the distinct sound of one of their choppers, and set off a flare. The Chopper landed and they hurried towards it carrying Flint as Duke, Hawk and Snake Eyes hustled towards them. Doc wasn’t too far behind and Duke helped him carry Flint back to the chopper. Hawk and Snake Eyes looked to the rest of the team and Hawk demanded a report.

Jinx turned to Hawk and her Sensei and began her report.” Flint was rounding an Evergreen tree when he fell. His ankle appeared sprained but he was unable to put pressure on it. Ripcord went to do a perimeter check whilst Scarlett and I started to brace Flint’s ankle. She looked up when she said she heard a noise, she got up to go investigate. She couldn’t figure out where it was coming from when I heard a scraping noise, I looked up and she was falling. I dove after her to catch her but a panel slid over the hole she fell into and I could not reopen it. Then Ripcord showed up and ordered me to radio it in. I radioed it in and we splinted Flint’s ankle and moved to the clearing for pickup, Sir.” Jinx turned to Snake Eyes and said, ”I’m sorry Sensei; I could not get to her.”

Snake Eyes just nodded and he and Hawk turned to Ripcord for his report.

Rip stood at attention and stated in clear concise tone, “After Flint fell I began to walk a perimeter to ensure that it wasn’t a trap. I had walked to the other side of aforementioned Evergreen tree when I heard Jinx call out to me. I jogged back to see Flint resting on his elbows with a look of disbelief on his face and Jinx was lying on the ground. I was worried that something had happened to her but she sat up and I realized that Scarlett was missing. I ordered Jinx to call it in and tried to move the debris over the tunnel but was unsuccessful. The radio call was finished and we moved to this clearing for pickup, Sir.”

Hawk turned to Snake Eyes and nodded,” Breaker has gotten a location on Scarlett. She was apparently conscious enough to trigger her homing device. You need to get with him and get the locations and any defenses that this facility may have. But we need you to get to her as fast as you can. We don’t know what they want with her but it can’t be good. So get in, grab her, and get out. If she needs medical attention, get her back to this clearing and there will be a team waiting. We are going to E-VAC Flint and then bring a fresh medical team and more JOES to guard the chopper. You are dismissed Snake Eyes, and be careful.”

Snake turned and walked towards Breaker to get all the info he could before heading into the jungle. He knew it was going to be hard, he just hoped he would get to her before things got too bad.
