Chapter Two: Waxing Crescent

Tui looked around her room after her dark orbs adjusted to the dim light of some street lamps filtering in from outside the window. She felt a slight sting from her eyes with some wetness on her cheeks, she had been crying yet again. That was when she noticed the yearning sensation in her core. Every time she went into deep unconsciousness she saw Tso Lan, however this was different, and he had said something about Shendu opening the portals. Looking outside into the night she noticed that storm had passed and clear dark skies were overhead. Footfalls outside in the hall brought her attention to the door as it opened.
Hak Foo opened the door and saw that Tui was awake. “Master Shendu has sent me to get you Lady Tui. I do apologize for knocking you out before.” He said bowing to her as she got up from the bed. “You are forgiven uh,” “Hak Foo, milady.” He responded bringing himself out of the bow. “Hak Foo, how long was I out?” Tui asked as they entered the hall that led to Shendu and Valmont’s center of operations. “My Snake Sleep Grip kept you under for close to 24 hours.” Tui nodded at this information.
They finally reached the center of the cannery where Valmont, Chow, and Finn were busy eating some takeout. “Ah sleeping beauty is finally awake. Would you like something to eat Miss Tui?” Valmont asked offering her some fried rice and chicken. “No thank you, I wish to speak to Shendu as soon as possible.” Tui said sitting down in the seat offered to her by Hak Foo. “Oh but of course, hold on.” Valmont stated closing his eyes and then they reopened a moment later glowing red. “Greetings Tui, So good to see you.” Shendu stated.
Tui narrowed her coal black eyes at the possessed man. Tso Lan had often told her that the Demon of Fire couldn’t be trusted, and in her current state opted to keep caution on her side. “Shendu,” She nodded picking up a cup of tea that had been placed on the table for her bay Hak Foo. “You are releasing your siblings I hear?” She asked in-between sips. “Yes, I have in my possession the Panku Box that has sealed each one of my demon brethren, including your love Tso Lan.” Shendu stated walking to where Ratso was busy fiddling with solving it. “Might I ask what you were doing spying on Chan last night?” Shendu asked as Tui looked up at him.
“I was in Tokyo when Po Kong was released. I felt her portal open and went to the shrine to investigate. When I saw Chan, I recognized him from quite a few archeology magazines and stayed in the shadows to watch them.” Tui stated as Hak Foo refilled her teacup. Shendu smirked at the memory, his ‘big’ sister Po Kong, stopped by an army of pint sized Jades. Their meeting was shortly interrupted by Ratso yelling in surprise, he had solved one of the Panku Box puzzles for locating a portal. Tui’s eye lit up as the green glow was emitted revealing the location. Her face fell somewhat as it revealed the portal of Xiao Fung, the Demon of the Wind.
“Let’s go.” Shendu ordered as all but Hak Foo got up to leave. “Hak Foo, what are you waiting for?” Shendu asked as smoke came from his mouth. “What about Lady Tui? Surely she can’t come.” He asked as Shendu thought for a moment. “Tui, there is a large sum of money in Valmont’s office, you may use it however you like for food, clothes, and anything else you may need. You can stay here where my Shadowkhan ninjas can protect you. I will not have Tso Lan accusing me of leaving you without defense. We will be back within a few days.” Shendu stated as Hak Foo bowed to Tui and followed his boss.
After they left Tui looked around and spied the red eyes of the Shadowkhan within the shadows looking out for her. ‘I might as well see what this entire cannery has to offer. I hope it has a shower.’ Tui thought getting up and heading back toward where the bedrooms were. She found hers, and looked in the closet spying only her hoodie and pair of sandals that she had on the previous day. ‘I wonder’ Tui thought, “Shadowkhan I wish to have a new change of clothes.” Tui said out loud hoping the ninjas would obey her. A slight whoosh was heard and Tui turned around and spied a black dress on her bed that had not been there before. She smiled and headed out the door with the new dress toward to where she hoped the bathroom was. She found it at the end of the hall and stepped onto the cold tile of the floor.
After a long hot shower she stepped out with her long hair wrapped in a beige towel and a small terry hotel robe that she didn’t want to think to where it came from. She made her way back to her room and sat down on the bed to brush the tangles out of her drying mane. Her hand absently wandered to the runes on her necklace. To feel Tso’s claws on her flesh again, to have that amazing tongue of his delve into to most intimate parts of her being was enough to have heat gather in her core. She laid back on the stark white sheets and opened the terry robe to pleasure herself but the sensation of having the Shadowkhan’s eyes on her made her think twice. ‘Killjoy’s.’ She thought tossing the robe aside to dress in the black dress the ninja’s brought her. “Now to Valmont’s office.” Tui stated leaving with her sandals on. She may be the Moon Spirit but she was still female and that equaled shopping.
Shendu was right; Valmont had a ton of cash lying about in his desk. She took enough to get her some new clothes and to by herself some food, as she left the cannery she felt the ninja’s follow her. Feeling confident she started going toward the shopping district. She figured it was close to around 8 pm giving the hustle and bustle of downtown San Francisco. She felt a little stronger than she had felt the previous night and looked up. The barest hint of a sliver of the moon was peaking out of the heavens. She found herself near some of the specialty clothing shops soon enough.
Hours later Tui returned to the cannery with a few new outfits to get her through the week. She had a very special outfit that she would wear soon enough for Tso Lan. A light blue almost white kimono that had moons, and stars all over it and obi that had the kanji “Spirit” on the front of it. She set her stuff down and hear voices back in the main area of the cannery. Hak Foo and Chow were sitting at the meeting table. Valmont was heard yelling at Shendu in his office shortly after Tui made her way back to where they were. “What is up with Valmont?” Tui asked as Chow just shrugged. Hak Foo bowed to her, “Shendu wants Valmont to rob a bank to get thrown into prison. That is where the portal is. Chow and I will deliver the Panku Box inside.” He said as Finn came in with some food.
Just as Hak Foo said, Valmont and his Enforcers got thrown into prison and Xiao Fung was released. However Jackie Chan showed up and Xiao was sealed away again. A week passed and as Tui was meditating Ratso solved the puzzle again, this time it showed Tso Lan’s portal way above the Earth. As Shendu was berating the Enforcers for their stupidity yet again Tui opened her coal black eyes and narrowed them. She was going to neutralize Chan before he could try to seal her love away. She stepped outside before Shendu noticed she was going and looked up at the heavens, the moon was full.
AN: Sorry the chapters are so short. As I get back into the spirit of writing again they will get longer. As of the Hsi/Jade, that won't be for a while. She is still too young, only after Tui has regained her full powers will Jade get aged with Lunar Magic. Please R/R.
