Chapter Two

“Are you angry with me?” Katara asked softly.
“No.” she answered honestly. “You're too modest for your own good, Katara. You're a damn powerful woman. Embrace that.”
“Isn't modest better than being full of yourself?” the Waterbender relaxed with a smile.
“Not if you earned what you've got.” the younger girl mumbled, “I worked for my place as Earth Rumble Champ.”
“Oh yeah. I'll never forget you strutting your stuff around in the arena.” Katara said as she settled onto the soft mattress comfortably, Toph snuggling.
“The Boulder was full of himself.” Toph snorted, “Pansy had no idea what hit him.”
“Don't we both know it.” Katara could not help but smirk.
“You know what else we both know?” the Earthbender asked slyly.
“Do tell.” the Waterbender drawled playfully.
“We both know who tops in this relationship.”
“Yeah. A cute little thing like you. Who would believe that?” Katara shot back playfully.
“Aang would.” She stage-whispered.
“Why?” Katara couldn't help but ask. She was met with a chuckle.
“Like Twinkletoes could ever be anything but submissive.” she snorted sardonically. “He's an Airbender.”
“You never know. His innocence could just be a front.” the dark-skinned girl teased.
“Twinkletoes couldn't put up a front if you glued it to him.” Toph laughed derisively. This sent Katara into a loud shriek of laughter, which she quickly muffled so not as to wake anyone else.
“You're so snarky sometimes.”
“You like it, though.” Toph mumbled, getting closer to falling asleep.
“Do not.” Katara shot back lazily, feeling the other girl snuggle even closer.
“If you didn't...” Toph protested, “You would have yelled and water-whipped and kicked me out.” she fell silent for a long time. “You don't take crap.” she said finally.
“Neither of us take crap.” Katara replied lightly. Which made them nicely suited for eachother. Okay, so Toph was clearly the 'top', but she herself wasn't some meek little submissive. Hell, the little blind girl seemed to enjoy her defiance.
“That's right.” Her words were sluggish, like she was just barely awake, “Two revolutionary girls.”
Katara couldn't help but smile fondly as her lover draped a pale and slender yet muscled arm across her middle. The Waterbender stroked said arm gently.
“That feels nice.” Toph whispered.
“Mmm.” Katara murmured, continuing the gentle motion. There was nothing sexual about it, it was just a friendly and warm touch between lovers. Toph's breathing evened out, signifying the girl had fallen asleep. It was cute how before, the younger girl had been so snarky and dominating and now, she just looked so cute and sweet when she was sleeping.
Of course, somehow, everyone looked more at peace when sleeping. Smiling softly, she leaned down and kissed Toph's brow.
“Sleep well, Toph.”
All the younger girl did was snuggle a bit, but she said nothing, savoring the warmth of the Waterbender's body.
