Breathe in through the nose, and out through the mouth.
Toph clenched and unclenched her toes as she floated on the water's surface, her soft breaths slowly casting off her anguish into the ocean. She barely knew how to swim; the few lessons Katara had given her in a pool in Ba Sing Se had been fruitless save for a few, shaky paddling motions -- and the floating position she now found herself in, of course. Without the right precautions, she thought, she would float away and be smashed by the waves, just as easily as on that day at the Serpent's Pass.
Her hands clenched, but whether it was the continuation of the meditation movements Katara had taught her, or memories of her humiliating rescue by "Sokka," she couldn't tell. Her right hand gripped onto nothing, knuckles kneading themselves into her calloused palm, but her left wrapped around her "precaution": a length of rope wrapped around her wrist. She gave it a small tug, smiling as she felt the loop she had Earthbended on the rock wall refuse her. Here she could truly be blind.
With her free hand, she loosened the band around her trunks, just enough to slide her hand inside. Her shoulders tensed up, as if struggling to bear the excitement growing in her as a finger slid along her slit -- a powerful force within her, rivaling even her great strength. She smiled at the thought.
Tending to the parts of her she had learned were most sensitive, she ground her fingers against the top of her womanhood. Biting her lower lip in pleasure, she hunched forward, her short, muscular thighs rubbing against each other.
A second later she remembered that she was floating in water -- or at least she was supposed to be. A tiny wave of panic shot across her mind as she started to sink, but she heaved herself back to the surface, fingers seizing the rough rope, her hips thrusting into the cool air.
She rather liked the feel of that. It had been exhilirating and forceful, and Toph bucked her hips against her hand, working up a rhythm. Her toes curled as her legs, tensing and untensing, made little splashes against the water's surface.
Suki slid her arm out from underneath Sokka's back and crawled to the tent's opening, running her fingers through her brown hair. It had become disheveled; a few locks stuck out at odd angles even after her attempts to tame them. She looked back at Sokka, asleep and softly snoring, and smiled. He had been eager and had exhausted himself quickly. But it was his first time, and being together after months of forced separation had taught her that when finesse was found wanting, sheer passion could still leave them both with a pleasing glow. She ran a hand across her belly, lingering on the wet stickiness covering it. Even so, she thought, I should teach him a few things next time.
Pushing the tentflap aside and stepping outside, she stood up straight, enjoying the feeling of the wind on her exposed, sweaty body. To feel a breeze touched by the open waves, and not the sulphur of a volcanic prison! She breathed deeply, her bare breasts slightly rising, and stepped out from the tent, past the spent embers of their campire, the off-white ash coating the logs' remains.
Suddenly, Suki froze, eyes wide, breath caught in her throat. Zuko was still there, sitting outside Katara's tent, his back turned to Suki. The Kyoshi Warrior dropped to the ground, creeping silently back to the opening of Sokka's tent, her hand probing inside. Rough cloth met her fingers, and she quickly pulled the dark red prison tunic over her head. No sash, and no pants, but it would pass for decency.
She walked away from the campsite, past a pair of the massive boulders that dotted the island, and sat down at the edge of a nearby cliff. The grass tickled her legs, her bottom, her womanhood. Twiddling the soft grass in her fingers, she lazily rubbed between her legs, no goal or focus in her mind.
Suki glanced behind her for a second. Zuko hadn't moved. Turning back to the crashing waves, a faint frown crossed her face. She hoped those two would resolve their problems soon. How can we hope to fight the Fire Lord if we're still fighting each other?
Her mind wandered back a few years, when a few of her Kyoshi sisters had taken a fancy to each other. Only a few months had passed until the bickering and bizarre love triangles had dominated the Warriors' attentions. Instead of redirecting the strength of their opponents, they were using their sisters' emotions against each other.
A sharp gust of wind hit Suki's face, ruffling her brown hair as she idly rubbed herself, lost in memory. It had been her first crisis as the leader of the Warriors. How could she teach her girls to use their fans as extensions of their arms, when they had forgotten how to be extensions of each other?
Her kneading motions strengthened as she recalled the special bonding times she had set up. To say that the first few evenings had been embarrassing would be an understatement. Only their paints had kept their faces from glowing a shameful crimson, but the younger Warriors had eventually learned to enjoy each other as a group.
Staring up at the clouds, she laughed quietly to herself. Even back then, she had changed so much from the little awkward girl she had been. She wondered what her younger self, spending her days staring in awe at the statue of Kyoshi back home, would have thought.
And now we've traveled the world and helped so many people. Suki struggled to smile weakly. Her sisters were still imprisoned, and she had no idea where. Only the war's end would free them now.
She turned her head toward the campsite again, eyes focused on Zuko's back. Learn to make peace with him, Katara. A lot of people are counting on us.
Suddenly, Suki heard a series of splashes right below her, followed by a low moan. She peered over the ledge, her fingers wrapped around the smooth edge of the precipice. Is that -- it is! Toph was lying in the water, her legs flailing about; one of her arms was tangled in a rope. Suki's arms and legs tensed, ready to scramble down to rescue her. But as her hands tightened on the edge of the cliff, she paused.
A chunk of the promontory had been Earthbended down to the water's surface, and on it were Toph's clothes, neatly folded. It was hard to tell from this high up, but Toph didn't look like she was having trouble keeping afloat. Suki wondered if she was bathing, but that didn't make much sense; Katara had told her that Toph preferred her "healthy coating of earth." Then what is she --
...Oh. In an instant, Suki realized what Toph was doing, and why, and why there. She slowly drew her arms back and wrapped them around herself; her motions felt stiff and ungainly. The wind turned cold on her skin, and she started to tremble as she watched Toph through misty eyes.
Mixed with the sounds of the waves came louder splashes, as Toph's short legs slapped against the water's surface. As the minutes passed, her moans, too, grew louder and more intense, echoing through the curves of the rock wall into Suki's ears.
Finally, the Earthbender's whole body tensed and shuddered, the rope going taut as Toph tried to bring both hands between her legs. Her head tilted back, and wide-eyed she shrieked into the night air, Sokka's name on her lips. As the tremors within her subsided, she slowly relaxed, floating limply on the water.
Knowing that at any moment, Toph would pull herself back onto land, Suki ran back to Sokka's tent, sliding silently inside and resting herself on Sokka's still-sleeping form. She felt sick, like her insides were twisted up. She needed to talk to Toph tomorrow, she decided. But what could I possibly say?
A minute later, she heard the grind of stone on stone, and through the open sliver in the tent door, she saw Toph stumble past, pausing outside Sokka's tent for just a moment before sighing and moving on. The door of Toph's stone tent crunched open and closed, and in the night's new stillness, Suki drifted into fretful dreams.
