Dark Descent
Chapter Two
By J. Hellraiser
November 23, 2007
Jade backed away from the bathroom door as the enraged girl practically pulled it off its hinges. The look on her face could only be described as murderous. And her target seemed to be Vinnie. Midnight stormed down the stairs, Jade following along silently. Everyone else was in the garage, generally relaxing and discussing the possibility of getting a place. Vinnie glanced at Mid, then jumped to his feet, his eyes going wide with fear.
“H…hey Sweetheart, what’s the matter?”
“What’s the matter? WHAT’S THE MATTER?! I’m pregnant with YOUR child you hormone driven, egotistical, thinks with his second head bastard!”
Vin’s face went slack jawed, “You’re…pregnant?”
“Yes damnit! Jade made me take a pregnancy test and it came out positive!”
Callie looked from Vinnie to Midnight, “Um, I’m guessing this wasn’t planned?”
Mid turned her burning gaze on the blond she-kat, “No, it wasn’t! Why can’t you keep it in your pants Vinnie?!”
“Why is this all my fault?”
“Because you’re the male, Vin. My sisters did the same thing to their husbands,” Chance informed him.
Jade chuckled, “Don’t worry, Bro. Things will get better for ya. Mid, don’t be so hard on him. After all,” here Jade smirked evilly, “You didn’t have to open your legs to him.”
Mid went red under her fur, “Jade! I can’t believe you said that!”
“Well, you were being pretty mean to Vin. And as the saying goes: Payback’s a bitch and so am I.”
************
Razor tried to control the trembling in his body as he lay strapped to the metal table. The head alien, the one who’d been using him as a personal whore, was standing next to some rather wicked looking instruments.
What is he going to do to me? Please…please let me survive whatever it is!
Damian turned to his assistant, eyeing him critically, “Are you up to this, Mathias? Last thing I want is you screwing this up.”
“Of course I’m up to this, Father. I will make the cut just fine and the removal will go off without a hitch. Or have you forgotten that I was the one who did little Jadelyn?”
“I’m just making sure you haven’t been doing your own drugs.”
“I’m not stupid, how would I make a profit addicted to my own stuff?”
Damian smirked, “A point. Once he passes out from the pain I can go in and make the changes I want to his body.”
“Whatever you say. Time for me to get started.”
Razor watched as the smaller of the two aliens went to the tray and picked up a rather odd looking tool. He approached the table slowly, a sadistic grin on his face. Razor cringed involuntarily, trying to move away. The alien’s grin got wider and he reached down, pulling Razor’s eyelids away from his right eye. A scream ripped through Razor’s throat as his eye was removed, the blood mixing with his tears. The alien placed the eye in a dish next to him before putting his tool down and picking up a bone saw. Screams of agonizing pain tore out of Razor’s mouth as the saw cut through the flesh and bone of his right arm. Blackness swam across his vision and the tortured kat welcomed the darkness and the escape it promised.
************
Bleary eyes looked up at the cell door as he heard the approach of the guards. Heard them. The guards were still three corridors away and he heard them. He didn’t try standing, knowing it would take time for his equilibrium to return. Finally the guards were outside his cell door and they opened it will a dull creak. He glared at the rats standing there.
“Here ya go, little mousie. Have a kitty playmate!”
They tossed someone in at his feet, then closed the cell door. Leaning carefully forward, he examined the stranger. From scent he knew that this was the alien who had been next door to him. From sight, he knew he’d been one of his father’s experiments.
It must have been him screaming from the lab. Given what they did to him I’m not surprised.
His right arm was gone completely, there wasn’t even a stump of bone when he felt along the bandage. A gentle look under the eyelids showed that his right eye had also been removed. He winced at that, his hand going involuntarily to his own eyes. A soft moan came from his guest, the left arm moving restlessly.
“Here, let me help you up. You’re probably a bit off balance right now.”
Using his tail, he gently lifted his companion in to a sitting position. The one remaining amber eye stared at him in surprise.
“Not all of us are bad, citizen.”
His cellmate looked at him confused and with a bit of longing, “I wish I could understand what you’re saying. Its…it’s been kinda lonely.”
Something happened as the stranger spoke, the strange words slowly began to make sense, “I…can understand how it would be lonely, with no one here that you know.”
That amber eye widened at that, “You…you understood me! How…?”
“I dunno. Maybe it has something to do with the fact Damian replaced my inner and middle ear with bionics.”
“Damian. He’s the big one with the black hair and cream colored fur?”
“Yeah, that’s him. I have the misfortune of being related to him. Name’s Throttle by the way.”
“Razor or Jake. I kinda figured you were; your scents are similar. Why is he doing this?”
“You mean other than the fact he’s a sadistic bastard? He gets off on using people and causing harm. When he first brought me here, he kept going on how he needed to see how the ‘test subject’ from Project Blade fared against a similar enemy.”
“Oh. Is this person here?”
“I really don’t know. From the way both Damian and Mathias spoke, this person got away a long time ago, but they seem to know where to find ‘em.”
************
Blade was once again on the roof of the Last Chance, her right arm absently rubbing her left. Chance came up behind Blade, his hands resting on her shoulders. Blade stiffened at the sudden touch.
“Something wrong, Blade?”
“No, not really. I’m just not use to someone touching me, that’s all.”
“Things haven’t been easy for you, have they?”
“No, they haven’t. And some memories are more vivid than others.”
Chance nodded slightly, his hands massaging her tense shoulders. Slowly Blade began to relax, her muscles loosening under his tender ministrations. It was just the two of them on the roof, so Blade let down her guard, leaning in to the strong hands on her back. Chance had moved his hands from her shoulders to her back, soothing her muscles further. He frowned a bit, feeling the scar tissue underneath the long line of dark fur that ran from her left shoulder to her right hip.
Obviously she wasn’t kidding when she talked about bad memories. Wonder how many other scars she has.
As his hands continued to caress the silky fur, Chance began to realize how much like a feline she really was. Her tail was definitely thicker than the mice tails, but thinner than theirs. The ears, though large like mice ears normally are, they looked feline. It rather confused him and he was reacting to her. Blade’s chuckle broke him from his thoughts.
“Something wrong, Chance? Now you’re the one who seems a bit tense.”
“Blade…I…I don’t understand. You’re…you’re affecting me on a rather personal level.”
“I know; I can smell your arousal. The thing is, Chance, I AM part cat, the others aren’t. That’s why I could understand you, basic feline vocabulary.”
“I was wondering about that,” he murmured in her ear, his arms encircling her waist, “How much like us are you really?”
“Not enough that I’d have to worry about getting pregnant,” she told him, her own voice laced with need.
Chance turned the Martian girl in his arms so that she faced him. Her bright green eyes looked up at him steadily, light from the street lamp making her pupils dilate like a cat’s.
“Our lovers are missing, Jadelyn, is it wrong for us to do this?”
Jade leaned forward, encircling his neck with her arms, “I know you love Jake, just as I love Throttle. You and I both put up a strong front to hide our inner fears. I see nothing wrong in us finding comfort in each other’s arms to ease the heartache and stress we feel.”
Chance smiled, his face lowering to hers to brush her lips in a feather light kiss. Jade returned the kiss eagerly, her tail closing the trap door to ensure them some privacy for awhile.
************
Midnight was lying on her bed, silently crying. She felt so miserable after the way she had behaved earlier. Insulting Vinnie; terrorizing everyone. Mid was emotional to begin with, but this pregnancy was putting her emotions over the edge. Rolling over, the Martian girl hugged a pillow to her chest, feeling very alone. A hand on her shoulder made her jump. Turning quickly, her eyes glared at Vinnie, who stood there with his hands raised surrender fashion.
“Sorry Midnight, I wasn’t trying to scare you. I just wanted to see if you’re all right.”
“Do I LOOK all right?! I’m pregnant and unmarried and…and…”
“Mid, listen to me. I know I should have done this sooner, but with everything that’s been happening, it never seemed like the right time.”
Mid stared at him, wide eyed. Is he talking about what I think he is?
Vin pulled a small box out of his pocket and kneeled in front of her, “Midnight, we’ve known one another for a while now. We’ve been through ups and downs, good times and bad. You’ve stood by my side when I needed support, took in my daughter without question. I know you have no memory of who you once were, but perhaps together we can figure it out.”
He opened the box, revealing a thin gold band with tiny pearls set in to it. In the center was a large heart shaped diamond. Mid looked up in to Vin’s eyes, stunned.
“I’m asking you to be my best friend, my partner, my lover, my wife. What do you say Midnight?”
Mid’s eyes filled with tears before she wrapped her arms around Vin, “Yes.”
************
Blade and Chance quietly made their way down from the roof, listening for anyone coming. Lucky for them, almost everyone was out doing errands or stretching their legs. Blade stopped at a corner, peering around it just to make sure that there was no one there to surprise them. She jumped as Chance ran his hands down her sides, gripping her hips and pulling her against him. The feline-like mouse gave a half hearted glare at him over her shoulder. He grinned, nuzzling her neck affectionately. She rolled her eyes.
“You’re insatiable, you know that?”
“Hmm, I’ve been told that before, I just never listen.”
Blade was about to retort when she heard moaning, moaning she was actually familiar with. Chance looked at her, raising an eyebrow in question. Grinning, the red head took his hand and led him over to a door. They leaned against it, listening.
“Oh…oh God, Vin…don’t stop…oooooohhhhh!”
Blade looked at Chance, snickering. He too, found it amusing, but motioned that they should move away. When the two of them were far enough away not to be overheard by the two…occupied Martians, they burst in to laughter. It was several minutes before either could speak.
“I think…my brother…finally popped the…question!” Blade told him between gasps of laughter.
Chance was no better off, “No…kidding! Considering she…wanted to kill…him earlier!”
************
Razor watched his cellmate, Throttle, shift uncomfortably where he sat. Neither one of them had moved much in the three days that followed Razor’s lab visit. The tom didn’t want to move around the tiny cell due to his missing arm and eye; it made him rather off balance. But Throttle seemed off balance too and this made him rather curious.
“Not to seem rude or anything, but you seem a little…off. Everything ok?”
Throttle nodded carefully. Over the last few days he’d been slowly getting his balance back. He was rather glad that Razor was kind of soft spoken, it didn’t hurt his ears that way.
“Since Damian removed my inner and middle ear, I basically have to relearn my balance, like a child.”
“Ah, I was curious about that. So what do you think he plans to do to us now? You said he wastes nothing.”
Throttle managed to make his way over to the kat’s left side carefully, sighing softly, “No, he doesn’t waste anything. He’s probably just giving us time to adjust to the changes before implementing more.”
Razor sighed, leaning his head against Throttle’s shoulder. The gold furred Martian put an arm around the smaller tom, giving him some comfort. The intimacy between them began two days ago when Razor woke from a nightmare and clung to Throttle. What had begun as comfort changed in to desire and that night they ended up exploring each other’s bodies. It’d been a relief in more ways than one to know they hadn’t been warped by Damian in that regard. Throttle knew about Razor’s lover and partner, T-Bone, just as Razor knew about the girl Blade. To Throttle, it was rather amusing that they’d both ended up with understanding partners and Razor had laughed at Blade’s ‘not wanting romance, just a sex buddy’ comment.
“Hey Throttle, do you think we’ll ever get out of here? Alive?”
“I hope so, Razor, I really hope so.”
************
Mid walked out of her room, her eyes gazing at the ring on her left hand. Her grin practically reached both ears. The snickering from the living room made her look up in surprise. Jade and Chance were on the couch, twin grins of mirth on their faces as they looked at her.
“What’s so funny?”
Jade grinned, “Just that it was rather…obvious Vin proposed to you.”
“What do you mean?”
Chance’s grin grew bigger, “Your rather…vocal response gave us a clue.”
Mid looked at their nearly identical grins, suddenly realizing what they were implying. Her face went red under her fur, golden eyes wide with shock. Chance and Jade looked at each other, then starting laughing. Mid was surprised by the intimacy between the two.
“Well, I’m so glad I could provide amusement to the two of you. Speaking of which, you two seem awfully close.”
Jade’s grin looked almost predatory, “We are; while you and Vin were playing make-up down here, Chance and I were screwing each other on the roof.”
Chance’s eyes widened a little at her blunt statement, “You don’t beat around the bush, do you?”
“Nope. Why should I?”
Mid just looked at Jade in awe, “You never cease to amaze me, Jade.”
The red head grinned, stretching and snuggling closer to Chance as he put an arm around her, “My job in life, I’m afraid. Gotta keep things interesting.”

Carbine sighed, waiting in Charlie’s truck for the mechanic to come out of the grocery store. The Martian General had volunteered to go with the human woman as a way to get out of the overly stuffy Last Chance. She had returned with Rimfire a few days prior and was shocked by the new friends the Biker Mice had acquired. But all the added bodies had made things rather…tight at the garage so she had jumped at a chance to get out. Besides, this allowed her to have some girl time with Charlie. Carbine looked up as she heard approaching footsteps, then smiled to herself.
Throttle finally figured out that he and Charlie weren’t meant to be. That leaves her all to me.
Charlie pushed the shopping cart up to the truck and started loading the groceries in. The mechanic grinned when Carbine jumped out and began helping her. The boys certainly never did. Once loaded, the two women got back in and began their return trip to the garage. The Martian woman looked over at her female companion.
“Hey Charlie, have you ever wondered what it would be like to sleep with someone of the same sex?”
Charlie nearly choked on the piece of gum she was chewing. Spitting out the window, she turned slightly to regard Carbine, “I haven’t…really. Why…why do you ask?”
Smiling, Carbine leaned forward in the seat, “Because I find you completely attractive and since Throttle doesn’t have the sense to treat you right, I’ll have to make sure you are.”
Charlie felt her breath pick up slightly. The smile on Carbine’s face made her feel warm and wanted, “Ah, well, nothing I just bought is perishable. Perhaps we could…spend some time together?”
The smile that came from the war scarred mouse would have eclipsed the sun.
************
Throttle held Razor, the poor tom exhausted beyond belief. Damian had just brought him back after several hours in the lab. The end result was that Razor now had a wicked looking bionic arm and a bionic eye where his real one was missing. Apparently what had tired him out was the installment of the bionic extension in to the arm socket. The day before it had been Throttle who had spent the day in the lab. What his father did to him he’d never know. All he knew now was that he was more sensitive to energy levels in machines and people. It was actually unnerving. What scared him the most was the why behind all of this. Damian was sending them up against his first test subject, someone who’s had at least a decade to get use to the changes done to their body. Damian also let drop who it was.
Jadelyn Windseeker.
Project Blade.
