Dib’s jaw dropped as the redhead looked for a mirror.
“Why are you looking like that Dib Monkey?” Zim asked, “What happened?”
“N..Nothing, you look normal.” Dib said, blinking a few times. “Really good in fact.”
Zim looked into the mirror hanging on the back of Dib’s door. Dib could see his bright green eyes darting from his bright red messy locks to his tall slender human body. He just stared for a few minutes. Dib had to admit Zim was looking pretty good. For someone who felt rather asexual, as in he never really found anyone attractive, he was happy with what he was seeing.
Wait...this was still Zim for fuck sakes. He was not attractive! He was a dirty alien. But Dib knew that he didn’t feel that way anymore, he just wasn’t sure how he felt but it wasn’t hatred.
“Why are you staring like that?” Zim asked, whipping around and looking angrily at Dib. “I look stupid don’t I?”
“What are you worried about?” Dib asked, rolling his eyes. “It isn’t like you care what us humans think.”
“That’s right.” Zim said, still looking angry. “I don’t care. Stink humans.”
Dib thought Zim seemed slightly uncomfortable however.
“If you are going to be hiding out on Earth, I am going to have to teach you how to act like a human.” He said.
“Who said I am going to be hiding here?” Zim asked. He put his hands on his hips and cocked his head to the side, a smirk on his face. “Stupid Dib”
“Well, where else do you have to go Zim?”
“I am ZIM!” The alien yelled. “I can go anywhere I want!”
“I don’t think so.” Dib said shaking his head. “Not when you are wanted.”
“It is true that the Tallest are against me, but I am not so low as to get caught again!”
“Where are you going to go?” Dib asked again, looking into the green eyes, and seeing a flash of their original color.
The smirk dropped from Zim’s face and he just looked at Dib for a minute. Then his head dropped. He walked toward the window, muttering ‘Filthy Worm’ under his breath.
Dib watched his back. There was something new in Zim that he hadn’t noticed until now. Something like a change in his spirit. Is it possible that he had been broken in prison? Dib’s overly advanced brain began to spin, working up possible scenarios and questions he could ask to find out.
“What happened to you in prison Zim?” Dib asked. He watched as Zim stiffened and then relaxed. The alien turned to him, his face emotionless. He blinked once, and for an instant, Dib thought he was going to collapse again.
“Nothing.” Zim said. He tried to make it sound nonchalant, but Dib clearly heard a note of panic in that one word.
“Something happened.” Dib pressed. He didn’t press hard, but he was insistent. “What happened to you?”
“Shut up Worm!” Zim yelled. “Just shut UP!”
Dib backed up and sat down on his bed. He didn’t say anything, but he opened his night stand drawer and pulled out his razorblade which he ran once across his arm. He calmly put the blade away and closed his eyes. He closed his hand around the wound, and could feel the warm blood wetting his hand. He smiled placidly as his eyes watered slightly.
“Dib?” He heard Zim say. “You injured yourself on purpose?”
“It doesn’t hurt.” Dib said, not opening his eyes. “It makes me feel better.”
“That is stupid logic.” Zim said. “You bleed, but you feel better?”
“I don’t expect you to understand it.” Dib said, opening his eyes and looking at the redhead. “I don’t expect anyone to understand it.”
Zim just stared at the blood beginning to drip between Dib’s fingers.
“I will be right back Zim, I need to wash my hand.” Dib said after a few minutes. Zim, for once, was silent. He just stood, staring at the blood, his eyes wide and haunted.
After washing off his hand, and putting some gauze on his arm to stop the blood flow, he walked back into his room. He saw Zim sitting on the bed, and a flash of metal. Before he could stop the alien, a thin line of green appeared on the newly turned white skin.
“Ow!” Zim said, dropping the blade from his fingers. Dib clearly heard it clink on the floor as he ran over to the bed.
“What did you do that for?”Dib asked, grabbing one of his shirts from the floor and wrapped it around Zim’s arm.
“You said it made you feel better.” Zim said, looking down at the green blood that was soaking through the grey fabric. “But that just caused me pain! You tricked me!” The green eyes burned into his.
‘No I didn’t.” Dib said rolling his eyes. “I never told you to do it.”
“Yes, but you made it sound like a good idea!” Zim said angrily, “You did it on purpose!”
“Whatever Zim.” Dib said, “Hold this shirt here, I am gonna go get some gauze to wrap it with.”
When he came back Zim was staring at his wound. He had removed the shirt and was watching as it began to heal on its own. Dib walked to him and stared down in amazement. So that was how Zim never stayed out of commission for long back when he would get hurt doing something stupid.
“That is pretty neat.” Dib said.
“You don’t know what kind of people take advantage of it.” Zim said offhandedly.
“What do you mean?”
Zim looked up at him and his expression cleared. “I am not telling you anything!” He said. “Zim doesn’t confide in humans!”
“Whatever Zim, don’t get so offended.” Dib said, annoyed.
He was beginning to get just a little tired of this guy. Although deep down, he was overjoyed at having the alien back. He just wondered how long Zim would be there, because he knew it would take some patience to be around him for a long period of time. Dib sighed, but he had a smile on his face nonetheless.
Zim yawned again, clearly still tired, and Dib was tired as well.
“Why don’t we get some more sleep.” Dib suggested. “Then when we wake up, we can discuss what you are going to do next, alright?”
“Yes..yes.” Zim said, waving his now completely unhurt arm around. “To bed then.”
Dib grabbed some blankets and made himself a bed on the floor. It was like second nature to let the alien have his bed, even though he has never had a friend, let alone a friend that would stay the night at his house. They were silent now, as they both had their own thoughts, and drifted off to sleep
Elsewhere ...
“And our latest information says that prisoner 020383 has escaped and stolen a cruiser. His whereabouts are unknown.”
“020383?” The Almighty Tallest Purple said, taking a sip of his soda. “What does that mean to us?”
“Zim.” Tallest Red whispered, looking at his life mate.
“Really?” Purple said, his eyes becoming wide, “How does he keep getting away?”
“I don’t...know.” Red groaned, shaking his head and grabbing a bag of cookies.
“Why does this always happen when we are eating snacks? ” Purple asked, throwing his soda on the floor next to the bed and rolling over, looking at Red. “Huh? Huh?”
“Because you are always eating snacks.” Red replied off-handedly.
“Oh..right.”
They got out of their bed, where they had been sitting watching ‘Battle Dome’ on television. It was a repeat, but Red just loved when Oturan from planet Ahonok fought with Ekusas of the Naf Clan galaxy. It was violent and it was entertaining.
“Well, I guess we need to get dressed now.” Purple said, pouting. “I get so tired of wearing that suit every day.”
“Yes, yes.” Red dismissed him, and pushed the button on a remote by his bed, which brought out their body suits, the trademark of any Almighty Tallest. “It isn’t like Zim gets away from Prisonia every day.”
“Well, once in five years is too much.”
“We will find him and make sure he is put in a higher security prison. He is very important to Impending Doom VII.”
“Yeah, we have found a use for Zim after all.” Purple said, smiling as he thought of the video the prison planet had sent them.
“Don’t you even feel the least bit upset about using your own child as a weapon?”
“Nope.” They said together after a second of thought. Then they both started laughing.
“Well, let’s just go send out some ships to find him.” Red said, wiping the tears from his huge eyes, and putting his legs into the suit. He stood up, and was instantly three feet taller, a minute later Purple joined him. They walked from the room and into the control room of The Massive.
“We need Security Drone Abik to contact us immediately.” Red yelled to the room. “Also get Invader Arukas here pronto.”
Within five minutes, two Irken soldiers stood in front of them, saluting and looking very important.
Red looked at them seriously. “We need your help in locating someone.”
Back on Earth
Dib opened his eyes, and immediately let out a yelp as Gir was standing on his face. He hadn’t even felt the robot. He sat up quickly and looked around. It was dark in his room. He had slept all day. He looked at his bed, and saw that Zim was still sleeping. The disguise was gone, and the small green alien slept peacefully in its place. Zim’s antennae twitched, as he dreamed, and Dib smiled.
He was going to wake Zim up, but he decided against it. Tomorrow they would have to go to school. Well, Dib would anyway, and that would mean Zim would either have to come with him, or stay in Dib’s room alone. If he decided to go to school, there would be people all over him, and Zim tended to be a bit spastic. Well, he used to be, honestly Dib didn’t know what to expect. It was going to be an interesting day tomorrow.

well, another chapter is done... not a whole lot of stuff happened, but got some info ne? Or some things you would like to learn more about? I hope so.. But the next chapter will be faster moving, as I will probably write it on a day when I am off work instead of splitting a chapter between two days when I tend to lose the flow of the writing. Umm, that’s really about all..reviews would make me happy... if you wanna make me happy...which... I hope you do...because I wanna make you happy... equivalent exchange.
