No more Kung Fu for you!--
“Well, I’m glad you finally made a move on her. Watching you two dance around each other for so long was starting to make my hair frizz!” Gerald snickered, twirling the basketball with his finger.
“Whatever Gerald.” Arnold grinned. Looking at Gerald’s hair, which was always on the frizzy side.
Arnold and Gerald were walking to Arnold’s house to do homework. Arnold had an encyclopedia set they had to use for a report. They couldn’t go anywhere else since Arnold was the only one around with a completed set!
“Me and phoebe are going to get some food at “The Shack” after the game. You and helga can come.” Gerald offered.
“Sure, if she’ll come with us.” Arnold said.
“Man, don’t worry about that. Of course she’ll come! Especially since you asked her to. Girls like that stuff. You have to ask them out, it’s like a motivation or something.” Gerald shrugged.
“Well thank you mister lady’s man.” Arnold smirked.
“No prob! Anytime my man.” Gerald smirked with a knowing look.
“You know, at practice today Eugene showed some signs of improvement.” Arnold said, as he saw helga’s fathers car drive past them on the road. He stretched his neck to see if helga was in the front or backseat. Mr. Pataki always drove blue sports car. Since his pager and cell phone company kicked off, he’s had one new car every year.
“*snort* Arnold don’t even start with that! We are soo dead tomorrow! We’re like the living dead!” Gerald said angrily, as he bounced the ball extremely hard, and lost control of it, as it hit his chin and bounced off in a different direction.
“And with ball handling like that, we’ll be cremated!” Arnold sighed, as he watched Gerald’s basketball bounce off down the street.
“Aww man! Help me get it Arnold!” Gerald shouted as he ran after his ball.
“You have got to be kidding me.” Arnold said lifting an eyebrow.
Arnold made no attempt to move, until he saw someone standing at the light waiting for it to change. For one thing he recognized the person, he just couldn’t see their face clearly, they had some sort of karate clothes on, and he knew it was a girl, from the length of the blonde hair, that was down her back.
“Aw great Gerald is going to plow into some girl.” Arnold said he was walked briskly down the street. From looking at Gerald, Arnold noticed his shoe laces were untied. Yet again!
“Damn it! Gerald!” He shouted as he raced after his best-friend down the street.
Unfortunately because of Arnold’s late start, the ball didn’t hit anyone, it ran into the street, and got crushed by the bus, but Gerald’s shoelaces got caught, and Gerald tripped over his own feet. Right onto the girl that was standing at the cross walk.
Arnold heard the girl scream in pain, and saw Gerald quickly get to his knees, saying ‘oh shit’ before Arnold got to them to see who was hurt.
“Helga?!” Arnold said. Looking down at helga balled into the fetal position, away from him.
“Get off of me! You klutz!” Helga raged pushing Gerald away, but then cried out in pain an automatically clutched her left arm against her body.
“Oh shit! Helga I’m sorry I didn’t see you! The Ball! Shit!” Gerald said franticly, trying to help helga to her feet, but she obviously didn’t want him to touch her.
“Move over!” Arnold panted, pushing Gerald out the way to pull helga into his arms. “Helga what’s wrong? You hurt? Tell me!”
“Of course I’m hurt, football head! Don’t touch it!” Helga shouted as Arnold tried to touch her bruised arm, lifting the torn and bloody shirt she was wearing to examine the extent of her injuries.
“Shit, helga we need to get you to a hospital.” He swore softly, feeling his insides clench , seeing her beautiful skin blemished like this. And all that blood wasn’t helping either.
“No! I hate hospitals! They have big… big… Damn it! No hospitals!” Helga whispered harshly , clutching on to Arnolds basketball jersey with her right hand.
Arnold took a deep breath and let it out slowly, remembering helga was afraid of needles.
“Gerald go to tell my grandpa what happened, I’m going to bring helga over.” Arnold said to his friend.
Since his house was only a few houses down the block Arnold felt it would be better to get his grandparents to get a look at it. Since helga would probably shout like a harpy if he even mentioned the word ‘hospital’ again. Either way she’s gonna have to go. But he has to calm her down first.
“Alright man. Do you need help? I’ll be right back!” Gerald said not really wanting to leave.
“No, I’ll be fine. Go! I’ll be there in a minute.” Arnold said rubbing helga’s back, trying to calm her down.
Gerald nodded and jogged to Arnold’s house.
“I wonder what tore you open like this? From what I saw you only broke Gerald’s fall.” Arnold said, looking down on the side-walk, as he saw some glass scattered around them. He sucked in his breath.
“Shit helga!” he gasped, looking at her arm a little closer, as he saw some glass pieces still embedded in her skin.
“Don’t say it!” She whined as he cradled her arm. “Come on, let’s see your old geezer.”
“Be careful, there might be some shards--”
“It hurts like Hades Arnold! Don‘t tell me anything else!” She said cutting him off as Arnold lifted her up into his arms.
“Don’t squirm so much!” He growled. Walking off from the bloody corner, not really listening to helga’s protest.
“Arnold put me down!” Helga whispered. “What if someone sees us?”
“Why? What’s wrong with someone seeing us?” he said looking down at her with an intense look. Trying to distract her enough to get her mind off of her arm.
“I um…uh. Well.” helga babbled as he saw her face blushing fiercely.
This made Arnold smile.
“Alright fine, you can carry me. But don‘t drop me!” She snapped, turning her face away from his gaze.
“Aww. Don’t you like it when I hold you like this?” Arnold teased, winking at her as he walked past people that were looking at them with confused glances.
“Can we talk about something else?” Helga said nervously, still squirming in his arms.
“What do you suggest?” Arnold said wiggling his eyebrows at her. Effectively making helga stutter her comment.
“Well…I….You…Damn it! Arnold don’t distract me!” Helga said shaking her head off the fuzziness of his two-sided comment.
“Focus here!”
“I am focused.” Arnold purred as he nuzzled into her ear slightly before he climbed the steps to his house.
“Damn it!” Helga sighed into his embrace. “Arnold look where your going! If you drop me!”
“I won’t drop you, if you’d see how far we’ve come already! Plus you feel real good against me, why would I want to drop you?” He flirted, and grinned feeling her body shudder.
“Ok stop that!” she flustered, eyeing his front door, as he let the animals out of it.
“ These farm animals still live here?”
“Yuuup.” he sighed as he entered his house.
“Hey there, Arnold. Is Helga still breathing?” His grandpa said bringing the first aid kit with him.
“Yes! I’m still breathing! Gladiator over there isn’t a football player!” Helga snapped.
“Hello there helga!” Arnold’s grandfather said brightly. “Here let me take a look at that.”
“No! Don’t touch it!” Helga whined, trying to hide herself in Arnold’s jersey.
“Don’t worry helga, I won’t hurt cha‘, I just want to see how deep your gash is.” Grandpa said.
Helga still hid her face in Arnold’s chest while his grandpa looked at her injured arm.
“Whoa ho hooo!” Grandpa whistled, before letting helga’s arm go.
“Is she going to be ok grandpa? She lost some blood!” Arnold said, clutching helga tighter, not wanting to let her go.
“Oh she’ll be ok, but we have to get her some professional help. I’ll drive her--”
“NO! No, hospital! Big,… Big,… Big! Nope! I’m not going!” Helga said wiggling out of Arnold’s arms.
“Helga we have to! You have pieces of glass in your arm, your still bleeding, and it could get infected!” Arnold pleaded.
“Yuup! You can’t play with gangrene, nope! Then you’ll have to amputate your arm.” Gerald said.
“Amputate? Gangrene?” Helga said nervously.
“Yuup. I’ved seen a lot of guys from war like that. Their limbs gone, some from the blast, but most from that damned infection! It was either wacking it off, or having the infection spread through out your whole body! Seen a lot of guys from the war like that, yuuup. The fever finished them off. Should’ve let go of the leg. Hah! Get it! Let go of the leg! Hah!” Grandpa laughed slapping his knee.
“Oh, when you put it that way.” Helga said faintly before she fell over.
“Helga!” Arnold shouted catching her limp body, before it hit the floor.
“That’s the same thing, all the women would do when I tell them that story. Quite and effect don’t you think short man?” Grandpa said as he left the room to get his car keys.
“Why does he keep calling you that? Your taller than he is.” Gerald said, looking down at helga’s unconscious body
“I dunno.” Arnold shrugged as he lifted helga’s body into his arms again.
“You’d better put her down. You’ll need that arm tomorrow night. And I know helga doesn’t weigh the same amount as a basketball.” Gerald snorted. “But they do have something in common! A lot of air. Helga’s just a lot of hot air.”
Arnold held back his laughter to glare at Gerald.
“What? I was just saying.” Gerald said.
