Mandy was still feeling sad while she was on her way to her high school, and this made it rather difficult for her to concentrate on driving. She almost caused 2 car wrecks because she was too busy crying and not paying attention to the busy road she was driving on.
Mandy finally got to school shortly afterwards, she arrived a little late so she went to class instead of meeting up with her friends and sharing the latest gossip. But she didn’t feel like doing that anyway. She didn’t feel much of anything except grief over the death of her close brother.
Instead of heading straight for the classroom, Mandy decided to go the ladies room first and wipe the tears from her eyes so no one would notice her crying since she hardly ever did cry at all over anything. You could tell she was sad just by the look on her face. After a few minutes in the bathroom, she calmed down a little and decided to head for class. She was more late than anyone else but that didn’t bother her any much.
“Hi Mr. Samson, sorry I’m late.” Mandy apologized to her physical science teacher.”
“Take a seat Mandy, your fine.” Mr. Samson told her.
Everyone started to stare at Mandy with curiosity, wondering why she was late for class since it was really unlike her. She always made it to class on time to sit with her friends and a little bit away from the three spy girls that she had arguments and verbal fights with all the time.
Now Mandy did not have anything to argue about or anything to say to anybody. She began to realize and think how she always treated them and kind of wanted to apologize since the notice about her own and only sibling’s death was giving her a change of heart. But she could not say anything to them even though they were just one row in front of her. Even now she was still thinking about her dead brother.
Clover sat directly in front of Mandy, with Sam two desks to the left of Clover while Alex sat in front of Sam. Mandy would always throw paper chunks at the 3 spies in class when the teacher wasn’t looking and they hated it. But Mandy didn’t do anything of the sort now and all 3 girls wondered if something was going on with her. Why she was late and why hadn’t she thrown paper chunks at them. Something was not right with her. Clover and Alex passed around notes to each other writing these things down about her. While Sam decided not to worry about it for now and continued to take notes as Mr. Samson kept on teaching them about physics and laws and all that kind of stuff and junk.
Class went on for 90 minutes and finally the bell rang dismissing everyone to another class. Clover and her other 2 friends had gym class, while Mandy had another class to go to. Sam, Clover and Alex went into the girls locker room to change in to their soccer clothes to practice They were going to have gym class outside today like some other days in gym. They started to talk about Mandy.
“Hey guys, you notice how weird Mandy was acting in class…… almost like she was sad about something.” Alex said to the other girls.
“Yea I noticed it, she didn’t talk or pass notes to her friends, she didn’t even throw paper at us like always, she just sat there like totally quiet.” Clover said back to Alex.
“I wouldn’t worry much about Mandy right now, Maybe she’s just having a bad day, maybe something happened this morning, she’ll get over it soon, she always quickly gets over things that upset her.” Sam said with a calm tone in her voice.
Sam did not worry about her as much as much as Clover and Alex were confused about what was up with her.
“Well whatever happened to upset her is what she deserves, she always picks on us and if we ever retaliated back, we were the ones who were caught and got into trouble. I’m a little glad something bad happened to her.” Alex sounded slightly angry saying this.
“Yea, but Alex, we don’t know if anything did happen, or even if something did, we have no idea how bad it could be, because Mandy this morning was totally unlike herself, I’ve never seen her like this before. Clover said to Alex, concerned about Mandy’s quietness in class earlier.
"Clover?! your not taking her side, are you?” asked Alex
“No I’m not, I’m just a little confused about her, like why she was all quiet in class and stuff.”
Clover turned away from Alex to finish putting her soccer clothes on, while Sam and Alex did the same. They were going to practice soccer in gym for sixty minutes and after that, lunch time. Mandy had another class for just forty five minutes while the girls were in gym. After her class was done with, she had the extra fifteen minutes of free time to do whatever.
The three spy girls went to the soccer field to practice with the rest of the gym class. Sam and Clover were on team A with Alex over on team B. Alex’s soccer skills were better than anyone else’s on the team. She did way better at soccer than she did at skate boarding. And she did a better job at any soccer position than anyone else in class and in school.
As time passed by, Team B was in the lead, Any team that Alex was on always won even if everyone else really sucked at it. People’s soccer skills on Alex’s team had to suck as bad as Mandy’s cooking skills in order for the team that Alex is on to lose.
Alex’s team won by five points, 28 to 23, Alex herself scoring 24 of the points that were on her team and Clover and Sam exhausted trying to keep up with her since nearly everyone on their team was so damn lazy to even try to win.
It was now only ten minutes till lunch time. The coach called everyone in to talk to them, before dismissing them to lunch.
“Ok boys and girls, you did great, with Alex on our team we’ll have a great chance at winning next Tuesday night’s co-ed game. Today’s Friday so you all have the whole weekend to practice.
“But Alex, you scored most of the points on your team, try not to be such a ball hog, you’re the best here but have some faith in your other teammates, understand?
Alex nodded to her coach telling him that she did.
“Ok, the bells going to ring for lunch soon everyone, get changed and go eat……..dismissed! The coached dismissed everyone back to the locker room to change
back into their normal clothes and go eat lunch. Sam, Clover, and Alex met up with each other to leave the field to go change. Before they even got to the gate leading out, they all noticed Mandy sitting alone on the bleachers, with a sad look still on her face. Sam noticed Mandy taking a seat in the bleachers earlier when she got there. And was confused why she didn’t spend the extra 15 minutes of her time gossiping with her friends who had the fifteen free time minutes. Now she was just as concerned about Mandy just like Clover and Alex were. Alex, being more angry at her and happy over her grief.
But Alex now, was just concerned and slightly worried over Mandy, anything that upset her she would’ve naturally forgotten about it by now. But she was still upset and still quiet not saying a single word to anybody or bullying the three spy girls.
The trio stared at each other in confusion, and came to a decision to go ahead and get dressed and get ready for lunch. They were all now back in the locker room changing, with five minutes to go before the bell rang.
“Geez, Mandy’s still upset over something, this is totally not like her, maybe you’re right Clover, something is really wrong, the way she was sitting on the bleachers with her knees pulled up to her chest and her head buried so you could only see her eyes.”
“I noticed her when she sat down there while we were playing soccer, I don’t know why she didn’t meet up with her friends or say mean shit to us while we were practicing.” Sam said to the other two girls. RIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGG
The bell rang for lunch to start so the girls were now heading out to the lunch room and eat at the tables outside like they always did. As soon as they got in line they saw that today’s food was sloppy joes, fries, and mixed fruit with a variety of choices of chips and soft drinks. The spies sat down at their usual table, talking and joking with each other about all the cute boys they declared to be in their school, and sometimes they would talk about missions they had always been on.
After just a few minutes of talking with each other, they noticed Mandy sitting at the table a few rows away from theirs. Still with nobody else, still with a gloomy looking face, and she didn’t have any food in front of her, she just sat there with her hand on her cheek supporting her head up.
“Ok, this is starting to really piss me off, Mandy is like possessed by some gloom devil or something, I’m gonna go over there and see whats up with her. Clover told her other two friends and they didn’t seem to mind at all. They wanted to know what was up with her too but neither Sam nor Alex wanted to talk to her about it, so Clover had too.
Clover pulled up a chair and sat beside Mandy, asking her what was wrong.
“Hey umm….Mandy, whats wrong, your not acting like yourself today, me and my friends noticed that you’ve been looking real gloomy today, why is that?
Sam noticed Clover’s incorrect grammar when she just said that. Sam was smart so she noticed pretty much everything incorrect. Especially grammar and science.
Mandy put down her hand on the table next to Clover’s. Now that Clover was asking her about this Mandy began to cry again. She lowered her head down and Clover saw that she had tears rolling down her cheeks. Soon, Mandy went over to Clover and embraced her in a tight hug and was now crying on her shoulder. She was now more
relaxed a little because she had felt like doing this all day, but she didn’t come up to anybody to cry on. A lot of students would’ve got Mandy’s crying face off of them and leave her and she obviously didn’t want that. Now she didn’t care, she just wanted to cry on someone’s shoulder, even if it was one of her three rivals, and there she was doing it. And on Clover’s shoulder, the one she disliked the most out of all the three spies.
Mandy got her head off Clover’s shoulder, still embracing her and told her what had happened. About what had happened to her brother, when he went to the army and how close she always was too him. And how they always did everything together and how he stood up for her when she needed it, he was the perfect brother for Mandy. Then she told him what happened which she explained first before anything else. About being captured by the enemy and taken POW. Him being gunned down trying to escape from it all. She even showed Clover the letter she got from the army. Clover began reading it now and was feeling sorry for her. Even though Clover and her friends were enemies of Mandy, she wanted to cheer her up so she thought of something.
“Listen Mandy, I don’t understand how you feel cause I’ve never had someone as close as a brother like that die before, but I know just how it feels to lose someone you really love and care for though.
“Hey, guess what, why don’t we all come over to your house tonight and have a slumber party, so you can at least cheer up a little, come on, tomorrow’s Saturday and there’s no school, (and Jerry had told the spies there were going to be no missions for them the whole weekend).
Mandy nodded and told Clover that she would like for them to come over. Clover went back over to her table with her friends and told both Sam and Alex all that Mandy had just told her.
“Wow, so that’s why Mandy’s been gloomy all day, a totally close brother that she really loved just died.” Alex said.
“Yea, so now we’re going over to her house tonight for a slumber party to try and make her smile a little.” Clover told her friends and now Sam and Clover were surprised by what Clover had just said to them.
“Clover, I don’t know if that’s a good idea, we have no missions to do but still……this is Mandy were talking about here.” Sam said with doubt in her voice. Alex agreed with Sam by nodding her head at Clover.
“Come on guys, we can do this, I know Mandy’s a total bitch all the time but now she needs help desperately.” Clover trying to convince her friends.
Reluctantly, Sam and Alex finally agreed.
“Ok then it’s decided, we’re all having a slumber party at Mandy’s house tonight. Clover sounded somewhat real excited. Now she would just have to think of a way to cheer Mandy up besides just coming over and staying the night. She thought of some ideas and started writing them down, she got done right before the bell rang for next class.
