Egon carried Janine all the way up to the third floor bunkroom. He laid her down on his bed and went to wet a hand towel. He came back and wiped her clean of the slime. Then he got her one of his undershirts so she wouldn’t be in just her unmentionables.

“Egon,” she said in a sing-song voice. “Aren’t you gonna join me?” She sat up and sucked on her finger again, and then slid it down off her bottom lip and down to her chest.

Egon watched her finger as it made its progress down to her cleavage. When she was sure she had his undivided attention, Janine cupped her right breast and squeezed. Egon’s eyes drifted back up to her face. “I can’t. You know I can’t.”

She pouted sleepily. “Oh yeah. I forgot. You don’t want me.”

He sighed and pulled the shirt over her head. He reached into each sleeve to pull her arms through. “If only you knew how much I want you.” He raised her head and looked into her eyes. “Janine, I have wanted to be with you from the day I met you, but a relationship that didn’t work out between us would have made working here very unpleasant for us both. So I’ve kept my distance even despite your obvious interest in me, and the only reason I’m telling you this now is because I’m fairly certain you’ll have no recollection of it in the morning.”

Janine nodded and smiled a tired smile at him. “Okay, Egon. Night-night.” She climbed under the covers and fell right to sleep. He smiled and caressed her head, running his fingers through her hair. On impulse, he bent and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

And with that, he went back downst to to rejoin the party.
