Chapter 7: Broken Pearl
8, October 2027 AD, 18.31 (Earth's Time)
The Ellysian-Gemirian frontline Planet Exxon
Six hours passed since Equestrians attack them. The Ellysian Empire managed to defend themselves from Equestrian Empire, but they lost so many...so many brave soldiers who died, fighting for the future of Ellysian kind. But what for they died?
The battlefield filled with shattered gemstones, bodies of Ellysian's and Equestrian's soldiers. Many Star Destroyers and Ellysian's starships crashed into the surface. This is how the war feels like.
Princess Indira of Ellysian Empire while laying on the ground, watches how the Gemirian Star Destroyer bursts out in fire and starts going down. Two minutes and it crashed into the ground, the land shook a lit bit.
Prince Ellysar, who slowly approached to her sister, is really worried about her strange behavior. After one of the main Ellysian frigates destroyed by the Enemy. Indira really got quit. Ellysar can't recognize her like that, Indira always spoke every minute with speech of great Warrior and Leader...now she is very quiet.
"Hey" Ellysar worriedly begins, he doesn't want to upset her because he knows her anger very well "You okay?"
Indira turned her head to him "Does my face says "I'm happy as fuck?" She growled at him, feeling that her brother can't figure easy things.
"Um..." Ellysar doesn't get her words at first. Indira's persona is rather always strange for him "No?" He trails in the end.
Indira growled again, She got up to her feet and pointed her finger to the crashed Ellysian ship "What will you feel when you dearest one died on that ship?"
Ellysar gets why she is upset. Indira fell in love with one of the Ellysian's noble family member. If he is correct, it was the youngest one. By the tails, Indira had a sexual relationship with that guy. Ellysar wonders how he got in love with his bitchy sister.
"I'm sorry" Ellysar quietly apologizes. He knows it won't ease Indira's heart.
Indira throws her hands in the air "I'm sorry? Is that what you can say to me" She increases her tone.
Ellysar lowered his eyes, he felt the only way to not make it worse is to keep silent.
"Silence, a fucking fantastic. You more worthless than I expected. My father should pick me instead of-"
"Your majesty!" One of the Ellysian commanders ran up to his future rulers. "Your highness. Our scout found a squad of Gemirian Phantom Pearls in south sector of Planet Exxon."
Indira grabbed her sniper rifle and reloaded with the mag "Let's go..." She slightly pushes Ellysar by her shoulder "Coward" She adds in the end.
Ellysar ignored it and followed her to the next battle.
Earth, Beach City
Everything quit in Beach City. The sun already disappeared and replaced with the moon, making the Beach City look beautiful on the night.
Gray shows the features of Fallout 6 to Steven. Aveline is doing her homework, Greg is reading the newspaper about Terra Nova and Connie is doing her research.
"So, they still have settlement mode from Fallout 4 but now is optional?" Steven asks Gray.
"Yep, they said it's 100% optional."
"Yeah...like they did to Fallout 4's settlement mode is still questionable."
"But hey, at least you can become a president of NCR"
"You can?"
"Yep, it's awesome dude."
Connie got tired of their games discussion. She put her paper on the table approached to them "Guys..." Connie clapped her hands and held them together, thinking how to say it, properly "How about we go out and see Peedee with Sadie."
"Can I come, sister?" Gray raises his hand, like a student to the teacher.
"Yeah sure." Connie smiles
Gray quickly turned off his computer and got up from the couch.
"What about Aveline?" Steven asks as he gets up from the couch.
"She's asleep. Poor angel is very tired from school" Connie smiles at Steven.
"I hope it's okay to leave your daughter for us." He says.
"Don't worry, we won't wander around the city. We will take my car.
"Your car?" Steven asks, finding it very unbelievable.
"Aha"
Steven just stares at her with disbelief on his face, like someone told him that he is pregnant. Gray is confused by Steven's strange expression. Maybe it's a sign of how Earthlings are talking.
Connie places her hands on her hips "I can drive the car as a normal person, Steven...if you that refer" Connie retorted.
"Yeah right...remind me what you did back in 2016." He hinted with a grin.
A red shade appears on Connie's cheeks, feeling embarrassment "I was very nervous, Steven."
"What you guys are talking about?" Gray suddenly intervenes their conversation.
"Long story, Gray" Steven laughs, feeling that Gray should not know how Connie crashed the car during her test drive.
Connie rolls her eyes before saying "Are we going or what?"
Steven throws his hands in the air, showing that he won't complain.
After everything goes normally for them. They followed Connie outside approached to the blue Mercedes-Benz S212 E-Universal. It's looks clean and very new.
"Wow, Connie. How you manage to buy that car?" Steven asks, caressing the car's hood to feel smooth surface.
"It's a 2009 version. They are now cheap nowadays" Connie says
Connie got the car keys from her lab coat pocket, She pressed the button it, the door makes "unclick" noise. They opened the doors and everyone took a seat. Steven took the front seat while Gray took a back seat. Connie started the engines and turn left to the main road that heads to Beach City. "So...Gray" Steven begins "What do you think of Earth?"
"Well...it pretty Planet. I like how Russians and Americans are still screaming at each other even after the Great Invasion." Gray comments
"What do you mean?" Connie asks, still concentrating on the road.
"Well...Terra Novian Russia wants Alaska as payment due to Gemirian Empire used American's nuclear bombs to nuke the hell out of Moscow."
"Yeah...history never changes," Connie smirks, adding a word "Damm politics" in very quit tone.
"One day, you should visit Europe, Gray. Europe is a lot different from North America." Steven adds, glaring at the window.
"I have actually been there. If I not mistaken, I was in a country named Austro-Hungary or something back in 2018."
"Actually it was Danube Federation decades before the invasion. After the Great War. The Austria and Hungary declared a friendship and formed a confederation. Then in 1992, They restored it back to Austro-Hungary as the Republic." Connie explains the history.
"That's pretty cool. I still wonder why the Humanity didn't unite back then? I mean, you guys are really advanced." Gray awkwardly says, not understating humans much
"Humans are ambitious, Gray." Steven mumbles "Everyone wants to rule something as they desire. In order to be united, we need to stop a violence between Christians and Muslims, Communists and Capitalist and other stuff."
Steven's statement makes Gray think "You know. Maeby you could use our system of Carnelian's ideology."
"A what?" Connie asks, she is very curious to hear whats it about.
"Carnelism it's dominant ideology on Homeworld. Basically, Every Class Gems like me are equal to others. Like Pearl Class Gem has the same rights of Jaspers to command others and other stuff. Diamonds now don't have rights to have slave Pearl in his/her court."
"I thought that the Diamonds are enemies of the Gemirian Empire." Steven looks back at Gray.
"Not really, bro. Diamonds technically are followers of Goddess Diamond herself. Although, Diamonds don't have rights to rule over the gems. They still can live in peace."
"Who is Goddess Diamond?" Connie asks again.
"A Goddess of love, passion, and sex. The Crystallians lived near the mountains where diamonds are commonly rested there. They believed that she gives the diamonds as a gift for worshipping her."
"Interesting..." Steven whispers, gazing at the window.
"...Connie?" Steven changes the subject for now.
"Yeah?" She replies.
"You told me what happened to Earth, but never told about our friend's"
His words made her loose her mood. Connie sighs and says "Only Peedee and Sadie survived. Buck Dewey became a major of Beach City and his father retired and went to Miami,
"What about Lars?"
"Gone after the invasion...don't mention about him in front of Sadie. She is still depressed that she lost him."
"I understand" Steven whispers
"Thank you, Steven...We arriving." Connie makes a right turn to the parking lot.
Connie parked her car on the car parking near the shore. Then all left the car and ventured trough the street.
Steven noticed that all Terra Novian soldiers who passing, them are staring at him. Maeby the squad that tried to kill him and Yellow Diamond already informed the entire country.
"Why they are staring at me like that?" Steven whispers to Gray, hopping nobody will hear their conversation.
"Because of me. When the Gemirian soldiers are following human, that means the human is either very rich...or just escorts him."
"Funny to think" Steven smirks
After some time of walking. They stumbled upon Yellow Diamond who is sitting on the bench, supporting her head with her hands while looking at the sand disappointedly
"Hey," Steven greets Yellow Diamond.
Yellow perk up slightly, she turned her head to him "Hi, Steven...hi Connie." She weakly says.
She notices a new one "Hello, Corporal Gray. What brings you here?"
"Long story, my Diamond," Gray says, showing her a respect...even though he doesn't suppose to.
"I guess, White Diamond send you here." Yellow gives her variant.
"That's it correct...how do you know?"
Yellow chuckles, she looked at the floor before saying "I heard she joined the Gem Rebel Alliance."
"She does" Gray confirms with a nod.
"Good...for her" Yellow simply says
Another awkward silence for them. Steven decides that it needs to end "Are you okay, Yellow? you look frustrated."
"I'm okay..." Yep...Yellow Diamond is frustrated. No need to a genius to figure that out.
"Connie...do you know where Sadie and Peedee are?"
Connie points her finger to the restaurant behind them. "How about you both meet Sadie and Peedee?" Steven scratched his hair.
"What about you?" Gray says.
Steven cocked his head, showing that he needs to talk with Yellow Diamond...alone. Both Gray and Connie nodded and entered the restaurant, leaving Steven and grumpy Yellow Diamond alone.
Steven sat on the bench near her "Okay...what a hell is going on with you?"
Yellow gazed at him before again at the sand "Nothing."
"Don't lie" He hisses
Yellow lowered her eyes again. "It's...my dream"
"What about it?"
"Promise me that you will not tell anyone"
"With my own head, Yellow."
"Good..." Yellow makes a long pause "It's about you"
"Me?"
"Yes...in my dream. I was on the beach. Then you came and we"... She blushes "We"
By the dark shades of yellow on her cheek, he gets what he says "Had sex?"
Yellow nods to him "And?" He continues.
"It's felt very real. I felt how you...you know. But in the end...It was just Goddess's experiment.

"Yes." She nods
Steven sighs, thinking how to say it. "I presume you never had sex?"

"Don't know, Yellow. We barely know each other. And I really don't think I have a time for this. I'm in a bad position right know."
"What do you mean?"
"All my friends are god knows where Yellow. I'm worried about them much...Carnelian told me that my fate is far worse than them."
"We will find them...and I help at any cost."
Her words warm his heart a little bit "Thanks...come with me, I want to introduce my friends to you."
Steven got up from the seat and offered her hand. Yellow, while giggling gladly accepts his hand.
Together they entered the restaurant. however, they did not know that they are followed by one specific Pearl. "I found the target, Head Sister," CG Pearl says through her device on her armored arm.
"Good...Do an honor for Matriarch, Pearl."
"Understood." She cuts the transmission
Pearl took her position...now she needs to wait. And yet...her true herself tells her to stop...to stop serving the Empire and save her little boy from bad guys.
And another her tells to finish it. The Crystal Gems a long ago disbanded and she has new life as an assassin for the Empire. She doesn't need to serve White court anymore. Just like her sisters, she will serve for Homeworld's future.
Technically...if she was that Pearl who promised Rose Quartz to protect her son...she would help Steven...
But she is not that Pearl anymore...A Broken Pearl is a correct word.
Pearl many times disobeyed The Matriarch's orders and Matriarch in exchange showed some manners to her. The Matriarch has far more brutal tortures methods that Jaspers did to her. But the Matriarch completed her mission. She made this innocent Pearl as a killer.
A Phantom Pearl as now others calls her...A Pearls who were implanted heavily in order to make Pearl Class Gems unique from others.
Pearls were slaves...now they are warriors.
The restaurant which Yellow Diamond and Steven entered really looks like that old restaurant which Peedee helped out his father.
It doesn't fill with customers. Guess they are closing.
Peedee is talking with Connie and Gray. Probably Connie already told him what Steven went trough during his prison escape.
Then he notices him. Peedee throws his hands "Swear to God, I thought I will never see you again, Steven."
Peedee then ran up to Steven and gave all his shook hands power.
"It's good to see you, Peedee."
"Man. Look at you...you changed a lot...and that smooth voice."
A smile appears on Steven's face "Thank you, Peedee. I see you get some weight for ten years."
"Yeah, it happens. Sadie will totally be surprised...HEY SAIDE! COME HERE!"
Sadie then appeared, she momentarily sees Steven "Steven! I can't believe!"
Sadie ran up to Steven and give him a tight hug. She releases him and says "You changed a lot! Can't believe that you became so thin."
"Not a thin, Sadie. Just spending ten years in prison where Gems can't make a proper gave some problems."
"I could make some donuts for you. I know you like them."
Steven shows his palm "I pass. Not in the mood for donuts."
"Okay." Sadie notices Yellow Diamond "Who is your friend?"
Steven slaps his forehead "Rats! I forgot...Sadie, Peedee, this is Yellow Diamond. Yellow Diamond, this Sadie, and Peedee; my old friends"
"Nice to meet you, Yellow Diamond." Sadie offers her hand.
Yellow Diamond looks at Sadie's hand, thinking why she extended it "You wanna give me a high five?" Yellow asks.
"No" Sadie quietly laughs "That's how Humans greet each other."
Yellow Diamond looks at Sadie's hand, then she slowly extends her arm and shook it "Call me Celiana. That's my real name."
"Okay."
Sadie then gestured them to take a seat. "Steven, I really sorry."
"For what?" Steven takes a seat near the Gray.
"Thanks to me and Lars you were captured. We should never buy that telescope."
"No, Sadie. I was captured by my own mistake. I should join my grandfather back then."
"Your grandfather would betray you after you done his plans." Connie says
"Carnelian never betrayed anyone. He deals with justice. He never killed without a reason." Gray comments
"Still...a madman like him needs to die. He already did many damages to Earth and Crystal Gems. He can't be trusted." Connie snaps
"Yeah. Steven, are you planning to stay on Earth?"
"No"
"But why?" Connie in her tone sounds like she didn't want to hear it.
"Because it's my fate, Connie. My mother fought for our freedom... I can't sit and watch how my grandfather kills innocent people. As Rose Quartz's son...I have to do this."
"And how you going to do it?"
"Just like in all wars, Peedee. By land and land...to the capital."
"You need an army to deal with them. I heard that Gemirian Empire has 7 billion soldiers.
"2 Billion, actually" Gray corrects.
"Still you can't fight alone."
"I have my old friends, Peedee. Maeby even GRA help us."
"Alright..." Sadie says "I could give some lunchbox for the road if you want."
"That would be lovely, Sadie. Thank you" Steven smiles.
Gray checks the time on his Gem-boy "Steven, it's time to meet the Gem"
"Alright...Connie, Yellow, could you wait for us?"
"Don't have a problem with that."
"Me too" Yellow adds
"Alright, Come on, Gray. Lets get going"
"I'm ready-Freddy, bro." Gray got up from his seat
Yellow chuckled, feeling a big "De Ja Vu" from that quote.
Gray and Steven left the restaurant. Gray pointed to the right "That direction"
Pearl peek out from the wall to observe the situation. She pressed her armored back against the wall. Both Gray and Steven passed her and even they didn't notice her.
Pearl then pulled out her baton. She double speeds her movement to Steven, luckily for her, her Phantom's high heels don't make any sounds. Once she gets close to Steven, she raised her baton to prepare to strike at him.
But stopped as she felt how someone grab her by her lower coat.
Pearl turned around and looked down who it might be. It's a girl, a small girl. She is holding well-made doll of Pearl...of her.
A doll...Pearl doesn't understand. Why that girl made a doll of her? Why a human made a doll of her.
"Are you still Crystal Gem, Pearl?" The girl asks her. She evens their names...Stars!
"I was...now...not anymore" Pearl emotionally whispers, trying to keep her true self inside her body.
"You saved our planet many times...Why you stopped fighting for us?" Girl innocently asks.
"I...I don't know." She wiped the lens on her mask.
The girl then hugs Pearl. She pressed her head to Pearl's white armor. She also starts making small sobs. "Please help us, Pearl. Earth is in worst condition...please bring us back Crystal Gems...please bring our heroes...my heroes"
"HEY!" Someone screamed behind Pearl.
The other Phantom Pearls pushed the small girl away from Pearl. The girl got up on her feet, wiping her tears off and ran away from them. Pearl can teel that girl broke her leg.
"I hope that little brat didn't learn your mission?" Head Sister of Phantom Pearls asks.
"No," she says while not facing to Head Sister.
"Where is the target?" Head Sister angrily asks, feeling inpatient rises on her Pearl Gemstone.
"I let him go" Pearl turns around. She sounded like she not even cared to capture the target.
Head Sister, with a growl, punched Pearl directly to her masked face. Her mask's lenses broke by Head Sister's fist.
"Next time, I will tear your apart in front of your sisters, bitch. The Matriarch will hear about your failures!" Head Sister growled at lying Pearl.
Adding another humilation. Yellow Pearl kicked Pearl right her the stomach as the sign that Yellow Pearl has an upper hand. "A fine godd job, Filthy Pearl" Yellow Pearl laughes.
All Phantoms Pearls left lying Pearl alone. Once they disappeared from her sight, Pearl got up on her knees, grunting in pain that Yellow Pearl's kick was too strong.
Pearl then notices a doll lying on the floor. The Poor Girl didn't have a chance to pick it up. She grabs it and examines it. The smile on the doll is really hit her heart. How long she stopped smiling?

Pearl attached the doll to her handy bag. She turns around and looked at the distance, Steven already disappeared. "I'm coming for you...your broken Pearl is coming for you." She ripped the Imperial flag on her shoulder as the sign of becoming a renegade Pearl.
Back to Steven.
Gray stopped and turned around to Steven. "There she is"
"She?" Steven widens his eyes in surprise.
Steven looked at the distance. There are three gems. One looks like a Quartz commander, while the other looks like a Gemdler class soldier. The third one is...oh no.
It's...
It's Peridot.
