Disclaimer: I do not own Transformers, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Thanks for the reviews; I’m glad I took you all by surprise.
A/n: When I was reading some trivia stuff for Ratchet, it stated that a femme Red Alert was originally going to be the medic and so Red Alert will be a femme here in case Red Alert shows up in the third season.
I would also like to apologize for the long wait; I had a writer’s block.
Enjoy!

Chapter 19
Moonchaser left the Med Bay and stared down at the datapad in his hands. He had just finished his exams at the Academy and was the last to receive his results; partially because he didn’t want to hear the other mechs talk about him and pretend that he couldn’t hear them. With a sigh, Moonchaser headed for his quarters before something else happened.
“Moooooony!”
Moonchaser stopped and flinched from that familiar nickname uttered from the familiar mech as he was glomped by him.
“Get off me Run…” he muttered.
“You love it, admit it Moony.” Midnightrunner replied back.
“Don’t call me that.” said Moonchaser.
“Well, I could always call you the other nickname that you loooove so much.” Midnightrunner told him with an evil smirk.
“Don’t you dare!” Moonchaser snap.
Midnightrunner detached himself from his friend’s back but draped his arm over his shoulders “So, I got my test scores back.” He said waving a datapad.
“As did I.” Moonchaser said staring down at his.
“Trade ya yours for mine.”
“Why?” asked Moonchaser.
“I want to see how you did… after all you locked yourself in your quarters so much that you had to have the highest score.” answered Midnightrunner.
Moonchaser scoffed, “This coming from a mech with a higher battle computer program than mine.”
“Not my fault that I was built to collect and process data on hostile situation.” Midnightrunner stated.
“And the communication officer part?” questioned Moonchaser.
“I love gossip.” Midnightrunner answered with a grin.
Moonchaser couldn’t help smile as he shook his head at his friend.
“So wanna trade datapads?” Midnightrunner asked holding the datapad before Moonchaser’s face.
“Fine, I’ll trade you my results if it’ll keep you from begging and whining.” Moonchaser told his friend.
“Ah, you know I only do that to you ‘cause I love you.” He replied back as he handed his datapad to his friend and took his.
They looked at each other’s test score and Midnightrunner said “Not bad, one point more and your score would be the same as mine.”
“Oh if only I got one more answer right, how terrible of me. Bad Moonchaser, what were you thinking?” Moonchaser said sarcastically.
Midnightrunner suppressed a laugh at his friend’s attempt at humor and as he handed Moonchaser’s datapad back he said “Let’s go celebrate our graduation over some high grades!”
Moonchaser took his datapad back and handed Midnight’s back and said “I don’t know…”
“Are you still afraid going through that again? Come on Moony, you got to let it go, you can’t be afraid of rejections.”
“That wasn’t rejection!” snapped Moonchaser “That was humiliation! Those mechs got that femme to play a prank on me and since then… I can’t…”
Midnightrunner sighed, he knew that ever since that nasty prank Moonchaser rarely left his quarters to go drink or meet anyone. And the only time the young medic did was if Midnightrunner dragged him to a bar and assured him that no one was going to harm him again.
“Oh come on Moonchaser, I told you I taught those mechs a lesson after you left… the femme twins even helped after they found out what they did to you. So come on, let’s go drink and get over energized.” Midnightrunner encouraged with a smile.
Moonchaser sighed and said “I don’t think so Run…”
Midnightrunner switched to a new tactic “Come on Moony, pleeeeeeeeeeeease?” he begged with a pout.
Moonchaser stared at his begging, pouting friend and knew no matter what, he could never tell him no when he’s like that “Fine Midnight, I’ll go get some high grades with you.”
Midnightrunner cheered “Yes! And who knows, maybe you’ll find someone to settle down with and have a sparkling or two.”
“Who gave you permission to plan my future?” Moonchaser asked with a smirk.
“No one.” Midnightrunner answered with a smirk of his own.
As the two friends went to leave the Autobot Academy, a door slid open and Hoist poked his head out “Oh! Moonchaser! What great timing, could you help me with a patient?” he asked.
“Yes sir.” Moonchaser answered and with a sigh, he turned to his friend “Do not move from this spot Midnightrunner.”
“Whatever do you mean?” Midnightrunner asked innocently.
“I know you Midnight, when you’re somewhere new you just have the urge to explore until the layout of area is locked into your CPU.” Moonchaser told him.
Midnightrunner held up his hands and said “I promise that I won’t move from this spot.”
Moonchaser narrowed his blue optics at his friend and entered the room to assist Hoist.
Midnightrunner stood there for a few breems before walking off ‘Moony made me promise that I’d stay in my spot, but he never said I had to stay there until he came back.’
Midnightrunner explored the floor, never being here before since he mostly kept to the other part of the Academy and the only time he went to this part of the Academy was to visit Moonchaser. And he knew that when Moonchaser found out he walked off, he’ll be mad and Midnightrunner would have to find a way to make it up to him.
Midnightrunner turned a corner and could hear voices up ahead. Filled with curiosity, he walked towards the open door and stood near it and eavesdropped on the conversation within.
“I’m telling you they’re up to something Ultra Magnus!” said a femme.
“Please calm down Red Alert, we don’t want you to frit out like last time and have Inferno fret again.” Ultra Magnus told the femme.
“I’m sorry Ultra Magnus.” Red Alert said apologetically “but I can’t help worry that the Decepticons are up to something.”
Ultra Magnus sighed over Red Alert’s paranoia, knowing the trouble her glitch has caused her many times in the past “I understand my dear, but there is no way of knowing what the Decepticons are planning.”
“I may have a suggestion.” Midnightrunner offered as he stepped into the room.
Red Alert yelped in surprise as Ultra Magnus turned to the young bot “Who are you?” he asked.
Midnightrunner quickly saluted “Designation: Midnightrunner, intelligence officer and part-time communication officer. I apologize for listening in sir, I just graduated from the Academy today and I was waiting for a friend to finish helping a medic with a patient and went exploring.” He answered.
“It’s alright.” Ultra Magnus told the mech “What is your suggestion?”
“Send an Autobot into the Decepticon’s ranks as a spy.” Midnightrunner answered.
“A spy?”
“Yes sir.”
“Tell us more.” Ultra Magnus told the mech, intrigued.
“Well, once we have a mech or femme to be our spy, we spread rumors about them being a traitor.”
“Why rumors?”
“Rumors and gossips get around quite easily and I’ve no doubt that they could reach a Decepticon’s audios and in turn, he’ll inform Megatron about a renegade Autobot and get them to join him.” answered Midnightrunner.
Ultra Magnus and Red Alert mused over this and they both agreed that that sounded plausible.
“We should have a contact with the spy as well, so they can give the contact information whenever they can… oh and keep this between ourselves, the spy, the contact and a medic.”
“Why?” Red Alert asked.
“If all the Autobots knows about this plan and if one of them gets captured by the Deceptions and tortured, they might reveal the spy and that won’t be good. But if we keep it to a select few then there won’t be a high risk of that happening.” He answered.
Ultra Magnus was impressed with the mech “You only graduated today and you came up with that after listening in on us?”
Midnightrunner rubbed his helm “Well, I was built to do this type of thing.” He answered.
“Now we need someone that is willing to risk their life as a spy.” Ultra Magnus said.
“Who are we going to find that will volunteer for a suicidal mission like that?” Red Alert asked.
Moonchaser stepped into the room and said “I volunteer.”

“He’s a spy?” Jazz asked.
“Yep.” Midnightrunner answered.
Sentinel scoffed “A likely story.”
“No, it’s true.” Midnightrunner told the blue mech.
“Then how come everyone didn’t know about it?”
“Because it was my suggestion to have a spy in the Decepticons ranks and I thought keeping it discreetly between me, Moonchaser, Red Alert, First Aid and Ultra Magnus would keep them from finding out.” answered Midnightrunner.
“You knew about this sir?” Sentinel asked their Supreme Commander.
“Yes I did, but we thought he really was a traitor.” He answered.
“What happen?” Sari asked.
“Eeeh…” Midnightrunner grimace as he rubbed his helm “when I was sent after Moonchaser after he ‘infected’ the mech that was his patient… long story short, he infected me with a virus that wasn’t part of the plan.”
“Why did he do that?” asked Bulkhead.
“After he contacted me, I asked and he told me that he heard the Decepticons talking about taking me in and torturing me and to prevent that from happening, he ‘attacked and infected’ me with one of his virus.” Midnightrunner answered. The triple changer sighed and rubbed his helm “And now, he revealed himself so we’re without a spy.”
Ultra Magnus placed a hand on Midnightrunner’s shoulder “He did it to rescue a fellow Autobot.”
“But why did the Decepticons want Bumblebee?” Optimus Prime asked.
“That, you’ll have to ask Moonchaser. I don’t know myself.” answered the triple changer.
“I’ll go interrogate the prisoner.” Sentinel Prime stated.
Midnightrunner chuckled softly “Good luck with that.”
“What do you mean?” the egotistic blue mech asked.
“Moonchaser doesn’t do to well with other mechs; he does well with commanding officers and me.” The tripled changer said.
“Go talk to your friend Midnightrunner.” Ultra Magnus told his intelligence officer. Midnightrunner gave Sentinel Prime a smug look and walked off towards the brig.
“I like him Twilight, he’s funny.” Nori told the Ferrari.
“Yep!” agreed Roll Crush.
“What’s your story?” Bulkhead asked the Monster Truck.
The teen and the two new robots stared in silence before Nori said “It’s a long story.”
