Monday Morning
The Halls of Casper High School
Valerie Gray, Tucker Foley and the newlyweds of only a day and a half, Danny and Sam Fenton, walked down the middle of the hallway and tried not to listen to the various bits of gossip that was supposedly whispered behind their backs but were loud enough for everyone to hear.
“Boy,” Tuck sighed as he looked around at all the kids huddled together and shooting furtive glances their way then turned back to the newlyweds, “the gossip mill is working overtime today. Have you heard the tripe they’re saying about the two of you?”
“Yeah,” Sam said in slight disgust, glared menacingly at a small grope talking in whispers then yelled at them, “AND THE RUMORS ABOUT DANNY AND ME AREN’T TRUE!” That scared the group and sent them scurrying off in a hurry.
“Maybe you should make an announcement over the PA system,” Valerie suggested with a wry chuckle. “Tell them all that you ain’t pregnant and you two just got married because you love each other.”
“That would quell some of the rumors,” Sam said, still in a foul mood from all the gossiping that had started the minute they walked into the building.
“But you know that won’t stop a lot of the rumors from continuing,” Tucker said to Val. “A denial would only fuel the flames and maybe create new, more viscous gossip.”
“I knew you two Love-Birds would tie the knot eventually,” Dash Baxter laughed as he and Paulina walked up to them and impeded their progress to class. “You two deserve each other and now the gene pool is safe to swim in again… Fen-Toe-Nail!”
“Why’s that Dash?” Danny questioned the jock and his girlfriend in a casual, jocular manner. “You’re still in the gene pool so it’s still polluted. I’m just glad Sam and I got out before we got any infections.”
“WHAT WAS THAT FENTON?” Dash angrily yowled at the insult as he pushed the sleeves of his letter jacket up and balled up his fists to beat Danny to a pulp for talking back to him. The foursome facing off with Dash just stood quietly and smiled. “What’s the matter Fen-Turd? You too scared to run this time?”
“I don’t need to run Dash,” Danny answered with a beaming smile as he pointed behind the jock. “Not with Principal Ishiyama standing right behind you.”
“The Principal?” Dash chortled in amusement, not believing Danny and rearing his fist back to strike him. “Ha! Like I haven’t heard that one before.”
“Then you might as well hit Mr. Fenton,” came the authoritarian female voice from behind Dash and Paulina. The popular couple turned to find a small Japanese-looking woman standing behind them. “But if you do strike him it will earn you a weeks suspension, probable expulsion and possible felony assault charges.” The School Principal slyly raised an eyebrow while asking, “Is your whole future worth one little fight?”
“Principal Ishiyama,” Dash gulped in shock and swiftly lowered his fist. “Fenton and I were just…” He anxiously glanced around and saw Paulina had wisely bailed on him and everyone else was staring expectantly at the confrontation.
“You were just heading off to class,” the Principal of the school stated firmly. “Weren’t you Mister Baxter.” Dash made no other excuses and quickly left the scene. The Principal turned to the foursome. “As were you and Miss Gray, Mister Foley. I want to see Mr. and Mrs. Fenton in my office immediately.” With that the small woman turned and walked toward the offices in the front of the building.
“Why would the Principal want to see you in her office?” Tuck asked the newlyweds.
“I’d say it’s standard procedure,” Sam speculated with a small bit of amusement in her voice. “When kids our age get married, everyone in authority is concerned that we might have made a mistake.” She clasped hands with Danny and sighed. “I know we haven’t, but we might as well head to the office and listen to what she has to say.“
“They think you went crazy, Danny, but don’t give into them,” Tucker mocked with a slap to the raven-haired boy’s back. “Val and I will see you two in a coupla years when they release you from the loony bin.”
“Very funny Tuck,” Danny slyly shot back as he headed down the hallway towards the front offices with Sam by his side.
The newlyweds entered the front offices and were immediately ushered in to the Principal’s inner sanctum. “Please be seated,” Ishiyama said not looking up from the paperwork she was working on. Danny and Sam sat down and patiently waited for a few minutes as the Principal started writing at the top of another page. The couple waited another whole minute before Principal Ishiyama laid the pen down and looked up at them with a smile. “Now, I suppose you know why I called you into my office.”
“We love each other,” Danny yelped defensively. “That’s why we got married.”
“What Danny is trying to say is,” Sam calmly interpreted, “we’ve been friends for our whole lives and have dated now for about two years so our marriage is just the next logical step in our ongoing, lifetime relationship.“
“I understand that Samantha but,” Principal Ishiyama sternly looked at the young lady in front of here, “are you pregnant?”
“God NO!” Sam yelled defensively. “That’s not the reason we got married!”
“That’s all I need to know,” the Principal smugly stated, wrote something down on one of the forms and then tapped it and a bunch of other papers on end to tidy them up. “All you need to know is, regardless of your marriage, the Public Display of Affection rules still apply to you two while you‘re on school grounds.”
“Is that all you needed to talk to us about?” Danny sighed and sank in his chair out of relief. “I thought we’d have to go through counseling or some such garbage since we’re to young to get married.”
“Do you believe you and Samantha are too young to get married?” Principal Ishiyama slyly shot back to the raven-haired student.
“No! I… We…” Danny stuttered before he noticed the smile broadening on the Principal’s face. He realized he was being played and laughed in relief. “You got me there.”
“If that’s all you need to see us about…” Sam said as she rose from her chair and turned for the door to make her escape from the dreaded Principal’s Office.
“There is one other thing,” Principal Ishiyama said hesitantly. Sam took that as a no and unceremoniously plopped back down in the chair next to Danny. “I’ve been meaning to call you, Mr. Fenton, in to my office for some time now to discuss certain… circumstances.”
“Circumstances?” Danny gulped hard and slunk low in his seat, dreading what might be deemed certain circumstances. “Like what?”
The small woman went to a file cabinet and pulled out a huge file before returning to her desk. She hefted the big, four inch thick file onto her desk, sat down and opened it. “There seems to be a lot of damage done to the school and its facilities while you and your friends are present Mr. Fenton. Would you care to explain?”
“I’m…” Danny paused while remembering all of the damage done to the school while he had been fighting ghosts over the past four years. He tried to think up an excuse but came up with nothing. “I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”
Principal Ishiyama closed the file, folded her hands on top of it and smiled warmly to the young man. “Let’s get down to brass tacks. It doesn’t really matter who caused the damage. The fact that it was done led to an investigation. My investigation. And a call to your mother confirmed my suspicions. You’re the Ghost Boy that goes by the name of Danny Phantom.”
“Why would you think I’m the Ghost Boy?” Danny begged defensively.
“I talked to your mother,” Ishiyama coyly stated, “and as I said, she confirmed my suspicions.” She held up her hand to stop Danny’s protest. “I had already suspected you were the Ghost Boy back when you were a Freshman. I mean come on now. Danny Fenton… Danny Phantom? Plus you look similar and you always disappear just before the Ghost Boy appears; Not to mention the fact that you come from a Ghost Hunting family and would certainly be involved with hunting ghosts yourself.”
“Does everyone in Amity Park know my secret?” Danny slouched in dismay.
“No,“ Principal Ishiyama let out a derisive laugh, “not everyone. But a few of us intelligent people have come to realize who you are and what you‘ve been doing for this town.” She got up from her chair, rounded the desk and sat on the front edge to personably talk to the teens. “As far as I know, only both of your mothers and I know of your little secret and it will stay that way.” She reached behind her and patted the thick folder of ghostly happenings in the school. “This is my private file. No one, not even the school board, has access to it so your secret is safe. I only ask that you try to keep the collateral ghost hunting damages to a minimum here at school.”
“I try,” Danny whined playfully to the head of the school. “But sometimes, you know, things just happen.”
“I understand that,” Ishiyama warmly smiled to the raven-haired youth. “All I’m asking is for you to try to take it off campus if possible. The school board is starting to come down hard on our budget and we simply can’t keep up with all the repairs to the damage that’s happened here.”
“If you know Danny’s secret,” Sam spoke up and stood from her chair, “then you’ll eventually find out my little secret from one of our parent.”
“I already know about you and Mr. Foley helping Daniel in his adventures over the years,” Ishiyama stated with a warm, knowing smile. “That’s why you three have been given a little leeway in your classroom attendance and tardiness.”
“No, I mean my new little secret,” Sam stated and, as a glowing ring formed over her head and descended, changed into Sammy Phantom. “I went through the same thing Danny did to become half ghost this weekend so we can fight them together.”
Danny stood and changed into Danny Phantom. “That’s one of the reasons we got married. I love Sam and she loves me enough to do this for me.”
“I see,” Principal Ishiyama said and circled her desk to sit down again. “Well, if you two love each other that much, then your marriage will be strong your whole lives. Okay you two, get to class.” As the two teens changed back to their human form and got to the door, the Principal added, “And remember, try to keep your activities off campus.”
The two teens got a hall passes from the receptionist and headed for their class. “Well, that was easier than I imagined,” Sam sighed in relief. “I guess we should get to class.”
“But my hall pass doesn’t have a time written on it,” Danny said slyly while teasingly wafting said slip of paper in front of Sam. “That means you and I have all the time in the world to get to class. We could slip off somewhere and make out a bit.”
“Well, what do ya know,” Sam smiled brightly as she looked over her hall pass. “Mine doesn’t have a time on it either and I’m pretty sure no one is using the band room right now.”
“I have a few condoms in my backpack,” Danny eagerly said as he shifted said bag on his back to a more comfortable position.
“But we shouldn’t cut class just so we can make out,” Sam uttered dejectedly. “It wouldn’t be right and you’ve improved so much in your schoolwork. You don’t want to start backsliding now.”
Danny pondered the options for only a moment before he let out a heavy sigh. “Your right Sam. I guess school is more important than making out on the sly. We can make love after school and not fear getting caught.”
The two teens headed off to their class but were stopped when a shiver ran down their spines, wisps of blue vapor came from their lips and a large male ghost materialized before them. “Greetings Daniel,” Vlad Plasmius cordially chimed with a hint of evil in his voice. “I’m back and I harbor no hard feeling for your efforts when I was Mayor, my boy, they were magnificent. But I thought I’d give you one more chance to become my evil apprentice.”
“Oh great!” Danny groaned playfully with a sly smirk as he circled to his right leaving Sam where she stood. “You’ve finally come back from outer space and I’ve had a few years to improve.” He changed into Danny Phantom and split into four separate Danny Phantoms. The smirk morphed into a sneer as he set himself for battle. “I’ve learned a few of your tricks while you were away.”
“Impressive Daniel,” Vlad said with only a bit of awe in his voice, “but you’re still not as powerful as I.” Vlad split into four separate entities and the eight ghosts faced off.
“I may not be as powerful as your are but I’ll still beat you with my friends,” the Ghost Boy harshly stated with a gleam in his eye.
“What,” Plasmius mused and indicated to Sam with a thumb point over his shoulder. “Do you mean your little friend back there. She’s nothing Daniel. A mere mortal who means nothing to us. We’re sheer Power, Daniel. We can do whatever we want and not worry about the consequences. When will you come to understand that?”
“I’m still one of the good guys and believe there is strength in numbers,” Danny Phantom chuckled to his arch nemesis. “And right now you are still outnumbered five to four.”
The original Vlad Plasmius was struck in the back by a green energy beam and knocked for a loop in mid air. “What’s this?” he questioned when he turned to see another ghost wearing a black jumpsuit with white hair and glowing green eyes. “Where did you come from?” Vlad asked in shock from the blast and from seeing another Phantom that looked similar to Danny.
“I’m your worst nightmare,” Sammy Phantom wickedly stated and flared up her glowing green hands for another shot. “Between Danny and me we’re more powerful that you alone. Just imagine two Danny Phantoms. That’s double the power.”
“My wife and I think it’s time for you to leave,” Danny stated with a chuckle as his separate selves merged back into him and he fired up his own hands with glowing green ecto-plasma. “My mom knows who you are and I’ve beaten you in the past. Even my dad knows about my Ghostly self so you have no sway over my family and I have Sammy with me. We’re definitely unbeatable.”
“You have a wife now, Daniel? Things have changed while I’ve been away. Well, you may be right.” Plasmius mulled over the situation and brought his other, separate selves back into him. “A good General knows when to retreat and plan for another day. Until next time…” Plasmius became intangible and flew off through the ceiling.
“Wow!” Sammy Phantom enthused and threw her arms around her husband as they alit on the hallway floor. “That was awesome Danny!” She gave him a passionate kiss on the lips that lasted only a few seconds but definitely showed her excitement from the encounter. When their lips parted the two teens converted back to their human selves and Sam sighed and cooed, “Maybe we could skip out of the first part of class and head to the band room for a little us time.”
“Does that mean…” Danny asked in shock at the amorous nature of his wife.
“Yep,” Sam groaned and started leading him off in the direction of the secluded band room. “That little fight really put me in the mood.”
“Who’d a thought that fighting could be considered foreplay,” Danny begged in realization and gleefully raced Sam down the hall.
The small Oriental-looking woman stepped out from an adjacent hallway and watched the two teens scamper off to their tryst. Principal Ishiyama let out a loving but wistful sigh and said aloud, “Those two were able to talk their way out of the fight. I suppose they deserve some leniency and alone time as a reward for not battling that Ghost Guy and destroying school property.” She turned and nonchalantly walked back to her office, whistling a merry little tune.
