Plan in Motion

Bridget awaited Odette by the lake, watching for the familiar white form in the sky. She had with her a white cloak in one hand and the potion of True Form in the other, but as she shook up the bottle, she noticed that there was barely enough left. Perhaps only an hour's worth of transformation, but no more. It would suffice.
As a swan, it wasn't likely that Odette could feed herself the potion, and Bridget would do anything in her power to help the fair princess, for it meant helping her master.

A few stars were beginning to dot the sky. The edges of the sky were still rimmed with light blue, but already, Bridget felt surrounded by the think blackness of night. Odette had had a long flight, and Bridget couldn't help but worry. She looked upon the glossy dark surface of the lake, and then back up to to the sky just as a wavering white form was gliding towards her.

Waving her skeleton thin arms wildly, Bridget tried to get Odette's attention, and was immensely relieved when the snowy swan landed at the edge of the lake next to her. Quickly, she fed the swan the last remaining drops of the potion, and as the misty water dissipated around the princess's naked body, Bridget handed her the cloak, so she would not have to face the prince nude.

A second later, Derek burst past the trees on the far side, arrow already notched and aimed, but when he saw the glorious golden hair of the princess cloaked in shimmering white, glowing in the sliver of moon light, he dropped his weapon to the floor and ran in her direction, to the edge of the lake. As quick as a bug, Bridget had already scuttled away to hide amidst the black trees.

"Hello Derek," said Odette softly, trying to remember the words she had rehearsed with Bridget. "Oh Derek, I've missed you so..." She hoped she sounded genuine. Derek looked as though he wanted to touch her, and she was suddenly grateful that they were standing on opposite sides of the black lake.

"No one believed me, but I knew..." He started, but she cut him off, nervous because he was walking towards him, as though unaware that they were separated by a body of water.

"You can't stay," she warned.

"Can't stay?! I'll never let you out of my sight again!" He proclaimed, suddenly possessive.

"Ooodette!" called a distant voice.

"Oh no..." Odette said despairingly, "It's him!"

"Who?" exclaimed Derek, evidently buying her act.

"He has me under a spell," she continued mournfully.

"Who does?" Derek asked again, and suddenly, wanting to show his own bravado, he cried, "Let him come!"

"No!" Odette warned, "He has great power. You must go!"

"You're coming with me," Derek declared, taking yet another step towards her, and he was now knee deep in water.

"I can't!" Odette cried, her voice raising in alarm. She didn't want him a step nearer. "When the moon sets, I'll turn back into a swan. Please Derek, you have to trust me! Now go!!"

Derek turned to leave, but after a few steps, he turned back to her, and said, "There must be some way to break the spell."

"Oh, there is," Odette said breathily. This would require great acting and care, she thought to herself. "I must give myself to you freely, and you must make a vow of everlasting love, and prove it to the world!" She hoped she sounded genuine, as though ready to leap in his arms at any moment. Derek was entirely fooled.

"How..." Derek asked, "How...?" He paused for a moment, just as the voice of Rothbart called out for Odette again. "I know... The Ball! Tomorrow night, come to the castle. Before the whole world, I will make a vow of everlasting love..."

"Odette!!" Came the voice, more demanding, with an edge that sent shivers down her spine.

"I'm coming!" she cried, wondering to herself whether Bridget's plan worked. She didn't doubt that Rothbart saw all that had transpired between her and Derek, but she would have to continue her act for just a bit longer.

"Go!" Odette whispered to Derek, irritated that he still hadn't left.

"Tomorrow night!" He reminded her, and with a sigh, she nodded, and agreed, relieved that he finally left.

"Odette!" Rothbart barked, more sharply than before. He came out from behind the trees, and stopped at the edge of the lake, which she still stood in, seemingly dazed. Lowering his voice to a more sinister tone asked, "Didn't you hear me calling?"

"I...I..." Odette stammered, in an attempt to act nervous, though in truth, her heart did flutter more rapidly than usual, so it wasn't entirely an ruse.

"I thought I heard voices..." Rothbart said, scrutinizing her face closely. He knew she had been talking to Derek, but the cursed smokey visions he saw were only visions and could never reveal what it's subjects spoke of. Moreover, Bridget was helping Odette, and that in itself made him unsure of his footing. What could those two possibly be scheming? The very idea of Odette speaking to that snivelling Derek made his blood boil but he kept his emotions under control.

"Voices?" Odette repeated, blankly.

"Yes, Voices," Rothbart responded, irritated to know that she was hiding something.

"I...I..." Odette started, trying to remember what she was supposed to say. Her lines that she so carefully practiced with Bridget were slipping her mind, and she felt overwhelmed by the imposing presense of Rothbart. He was simply so... near.

"You what?" Rothbart asked, constraining his anger, as he waited to hear what she would say.

"I've decided to become your queen," Odette finally improvised, curstseying, before realizing that she wore nothing but a white cloak. She blushed to the very roots of her hair. At the sight of her smooth pale body glowing under the moonlight, Rothbart felt himself grow hard.

"Oh, Odette," He said, his voice rasping with lust, "You've made me so... happy. I'll be a good king you'll see..." His voice trailed off as he realized how vulnerable his words made him seem. He walked towards her, grasping her by her small waist as he eyed her luscious breasts, which he longed to rub his swollen cock against. He let his gloved hands slowly drift downwards and reached between her thighs.

"I'll wear nice clothes," he said eagerly, "and I'll get my beard... trimmed. Oh, you've made me so happy Odette!" As he spoke, his fingers circled her pink clit until Odette was near panting, so ragged was her breathing. She was soaking wet, her juices leaving a slick clear residue on his leather gloves, when suddenly, Rothbart stopped, and pulled away from her.

"By the way," He added, his voice suddenly sly with knowledge. "You wouldn't happen to know who this belongs to, would you?" From within his black clock, he pulled out a bow, which Odette recognized as Derek's.

She had been so caught up in the pleasure of the moment that Rothbart's actions genuinely surprised her, and she gasped. A shiver of fear crept up her body, but Bridget's plan was falling perfectly into place.

"Going to the ball?" Rothbart said mockingly, "And we'll make a vow of everlasting love..." Odette pouted, hoping that the look in her eyes was that of betrayal. It was a princess's job to constantly act, and she needed to play this part convincingly. Rothbart gave a sharp bark of laughter, before throwing the bow in a sprialing arch into the lake.

"Thought you could fool Rothbart, did you?" He said with a laugh, but Odette could detect a dark anger behind it. She knew he was deeply affected by her actions. Yet there was still one more stake she needed to drive into his heart, and she suddenly wished she didn't have to do it. Gathering her courage, she declared, "I will Never be yours, you Creature! I will marry Prince Derek, and you cannot stop me!"

"I hate to tell you this Odette," Rothbart said, his voice suddenly a dangerous quiet tone, "But you won't be attending the big ball tomorrow night."

"If you want to stop me," Odette said dramatically, "You'll have to kill me."

"No!" Rothbart replied sharply, as though the very idea disturbed him, "No. You see, you've forgotten one very important thing." Opening a clenched fist, he held out the contents to her, and revealed the bottle that held the potion of True Form. Tipping it upside down, he watched her face as she realized it was empty of it's contents. Her expression was one of horror, and she crumpled to the ground, crying, while Rothbart laughed maniacally, glad that she would be suffering for her betrayal. He ignored the stab of pain that ran through his heart, suddenly feeling much more empty at the idea that she would never be his queen.

From behind a tree, the wrinkled face of Bridget gave Odette a cheerful thumbs up, before dashing off to the castle to serve her master. By the lake, Odette gave a small hopeful smile in return before the misty water took her, and she transformed back into the form of a pure white swan.
