The next morning Stella and Musa left the dorm's bathroom together, both freshly showered but still naked. Now that Tecna, the last holdout, was finally a member of the Lifestyle they no longer had to hide their erotic behavior quite so carefully. So long as they kept the noise they made from getting out of the apartment they could carry on freely, and the girls were taking full advantage of that. Bloom and Flora were already dressed and playing with Kiko on the couch. Musa turned to stroke Stella's ass cheek and kiss her on the cheek. "Last night was way fun! We should grab Tecna sometime soon and have us a full Winx Club orgy!"
The sun fairy responded with an ass caress of her own, followed by French kissing the brunette. When she broke she replied "Can't argue with that! But I guess we'd better change, we've got classes today."
Musa pressed a hand against Stella's breast and grinned. "Yeah. Too bad. Guess we can't be naked 24/7. Sure sounds like it would be sweet though."
"Well, around this dorm it's gonna be all nude all the time!" the blonde grinned back.
Bloom and Flora overheard their conversation. "Sounds fun!" the redhead answered.
Flora giggled. "I'll say! It sounds super peachy keen!"
Bloom had to laugh at that. She leaned over and kissed her roommate.
Musa grinned. "Well I better go see what's keeping Tecna. She's normally up before any of us. It's not like her to sleep in so late."
"OK. I'd better get dressed" the blonde stated as she headed back for her room, wriggling her ass at her dorm mates.
*=*=*
Musa strolled unconcernedly naked back to her own room, opened the door and let herself in. Almost at once she spotted Tecna, sitting slumped back in her chair in front of her computer at the room's single desk. She walked over with a concerned look on her face, but was relieved to find her roommate breathing normally. "Wow. Fell asleep at the computer. And I thought we were the ones getting crazy around here."
Remembering back to times she had walked in on Tecna at her computer recently it occurred to her that it was quite likely that Tecna had fallen asleep browsing through lesbian porn online. With a mischievous grin she reached past her slumbering roommate to tap the Shift key and terminate the screen saver.
What came up on the screen was not exactly what Musa had been expecting. Rather than pictures of naked girls there was only Tecna's email service. "Huh. Fell asleep reading email? That's a new one."
Glancing at the list of messages she noticed that there was a new one from Faragonda@alfea.edu titled Re: An Urgent Matter. Something about that set off alarm bells in Musa's head. Quietly she reached for the mouse and clicked on the message to open it. The message that came up read:
"Dear Tecna,
My door is always open to a student with a problem of any sort, however my morning schedule today is somewhat crowded. If the matter you wish to discuss is as urgent as you claim come see me as soon as you receive this message and I will clear my morning schedule for you. However, if the matter can possibly wait then please come to see me after your last class.
Sincerely,
Headmistress Faragonda"
Musa couldn't believe what she was reading. Could Tecna possibly be talking about the Lifestyle? Was that the urgent matter she wished to discuss with the headmistress? With a feeling of sickening dread she placed her hand on her roommate's shoulder. "Hey Tecna, wake up!"
Tecna's eyelids fluttered, then a moment later she sat up straight, stretching and yawning, rubbing at the back of her neck.. She turned to glance at her roommate, then stared openly for a moment before recalling that going naked was becoming the apartment norm. She shook her head and yawned again. "Oooooh! Musa, what time is it?"
Musa folded her arms across her chest. "It's a quarter 'til breakfast and half past 'what-the-hell-is-up-with-that-email?'"
Tecna blinked in confusion at her roommate's unanticipated hostility. She glanced at her computer terminal. What she saw sent a sudden chill through her. She turned back to glare at the Asian girl. "Musa! Just what do you think you're doing reading my private email?"
Musa stood her ground. "Never mind that. Just what is this 'urgent matter' you want to discuss with Miss Faragonda?"
Tecna frowned back at her. "Exactly what you think it is. This 'Lifestyle' you all are engaged in is immoral and degrading and I intend to put a stop to it."
Musa was taken aback by such a frank admission. "Tecna, I can't believe you'd do this to us! What about last night? I thought Flora got through to you."
Tecna's cheeks colored as pink as her hair as she turned her face away. "She... she told you about that, did she?"
Musa unfolded her arms and placed one hand on her hip. "She told us enough. She said you were part of the Lifestyle now. What happened? Have a change of heart?"
Tecna turned to glare at the pig-tailed girl. "What happened between us is no business of yours!" She lowered her gaze self-consciously. "I made a mistake last night, that's all, and now I'm going to correct it."
Musa shook her head. "You made a mistake alright: sending that email. Tecna, don't you see what a disaster it'll be if you get Miss Faragonda involved in this? We'll all get in major trouble over this. We'll be lucky if they don't kick us out."
Tecna turned away from her. "If that's the worst that happens it's better than what would have happened if I didn't intervene. What you all are doing is a road map to catastrophe. It would be irresponsible of me not to act to save you from yourselves."
Musa flung her arms up in the air. "Save us from ourselves?! Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence! I can't believe you think so little of us! And did you even stop to think how bad this is going to hurt our friendship? If you do this it could spell the end of the Winx Club!"
The pink-haired girl whirled around to face her roommate with tears running down her cheeks. "Don't you think I know that?! But what choice do I have? What you're all doing is reckless in the extreme! If I don't do something to stop you the whole thing is going to wind up exploding on its own and exposing everything that's been going on to everyone! I can't let that happen! I can't let you recklessly put all our futures at stake like this! I can't let the friends I hold dear toss our friendship to the winds of fate!" She began to sob. "I can't just watch as it all falls apart! I can't... I can't love Flora this much! I can't!" She lowered her face into her hands and wept.
Musa was stunned by her roommate's emotional breakdown. Was this the calm, cool, collected bastion of logic and reason she had come to respect and admire? She could scarcely believe what an emotional wreck her roommate had suddenly turned into. She leaned down and gave the girl a hug. "Oh Tecna. I didn't realize you were hurting this much."
Tecna returned the hug firmly. A few seconds later she released her roommate and pulled back to sniff and wipe her eyes with the sleeve of her robe. "I'm sorry for making such a scene. I must look a dreadful sight."
Musa smiled understandingly and placed her hands on her friend's shoulders. "It's cool. Better out than in, right?" She gave the pink-haired girl a more serious look. "So that stuff you just said about loving Flora, is that for real? You're wigging out because you felt something for her that scared you?"
The technical fairy stared at her stunned. "Whuh... No! No, I mean, well, alright, yes I'm a little frightened about that, but that's not what this is about. I just don't want to see us have a thermonuclear meltdown because everyone is jumping in bed with everyone else."
Musa had to admit that Tecna was closer to the truth than she'd like to admit. There had been a couple of close calls over jealousy issues and the like, but they were dealing with that and things were looking up. There wasn't any danger of that becoming a major issue again at this point. "Right. Sure. Whatever you have to tell yourself. We both know the real issue though. You're scared of letting yourself get too close to Flora and getting hurt because of it."
Tecna shook her head stubbornly. "Don't be absurd. This has nothing to do with Flora and me."
Musa grinned at her. "If you say so. But you know, you don't have to be afraid of loving Flora. That girl's got the biggest heart of anyone ever. She'd never hurt you in a million years."
Tecna ducked her head bashfully. "I know. That's what makes her so easy to love."
Musa took her left hand off Tecna's shoulder and gave the other shoulder a squeeze with her right. "Well if you love her so much then do her a favor and don't take the Lifestyle away from her. It's probably the best thing that's ever happened to her. She's taken to it like a duck to water. If you take it away from her it'll break her heart."
Tecna shook her head sadly. "Musa, there are so many ways this can go wrong and wind up hurting us all terribly. It's practically inevitable. Telling Ms. Faragonda is the only way I can see to keep this from ending in disaster."
Musa moved her hand down to rub her friend's back. "I know you're scared Tecna, but ending things this way just isn't the answer. You can't just run away from your fears Tecna. You have to face them. Bringing in the headmistress to put a stop to things instead of talking them out with your friends is taking the easy way out." She knelt down and took both of Tecna's hands in her own. "Don't do it Tecna. I know you're much braver than that."
Tecna stared at her friend in astonishment. Was she really doing this because she was afraid to face what would happen if she didn't? But then why shouldn't she be afraid? What her friends were doing was a big risk. It could wind up destroying their friendship, to say nothing of the problems it could cause between them and the Specialists. If the boys found out it could ruin any chance of making the boys their boyfriends.
But what would happen if she told Miss Faragonda about what was going on? Would the results really be any better, or would it only make things worse? So many questions, and she just didn't have the answers. She closed her eyes and sobbed. "Musa, I don't know what to do. This is all just such a mess and I don't know how to set things right."
The music fairy reached out and took the technical fairy into her arms. "It's okay Tecna. That's what friends are for. Come on. Let's go talk to the others. We'll sort things out."
Tecna shook her head. "They've already made up their minds. They're all invested in this Lifestyle, just like you. They won't listen."
Musa put her hands on her friend's shoulders and held her out at arm's length to look her in the eyes. "Hey, I'm listening, aren't I? You're not the only one of us who's got issues with the Lifestyle. I may have buried mine a while ago but they're not gone. If you need someone in your corner you've got me, and I know Flora will stand by you, even though she loves the Lifestyle. And Bloom will take you seriously. She knows how smart you are. She'll listen to you. And Stella... well, she can't stand up to all of us if you can convince the others. Let's just try and see what happens, okay? Worse comes to worst you can still go to Miss Faragonda like you planned, but at least you'll have tried rather than just giving up."
Tecna sniffed and nodded. "Alright. I'll give it a try. Thank you Musa. I hated feeling like I was the only one of us trying to do what's right."
Musa smiled at her encouragingly. "Hey, we all wanna do what's right. We just need to figure out what that is. Together." She slapped the pink-haired girl's shoulder. "Now go grab a shower while you can. Bloom and Flora are dressed and Stella's getting dressed. I'll let the others know what's going on and we'll meet up in the living room when you're ready."
Tecna nodded again and smiled. "Thanks. And thank you for understanding Musa."
Musa grinned. "Thank you for agreeing to give your friends a chance. I don't know what's gonna happen but whatever does we'll face it together."
*=*=*
Both girls stood up and collected some clothes from the dresser and closet, then Tecna took hers and left to grab a quick shower. Musa waited about ten seconds to give Tecna a chance to reach the bathroom, then took her pile of clothes in her arms and left to find the others. She found them sitting around the coffee table discussing what they were going to do to help Tecna feel more comfortable joining in the Lifestyle. Kiko was no longer in sight, so Musa figured Bloom must have put him back in her room. She walked up to the others and said "Bad news girls. Tecna's not as much in the Lifestyle as we thought she was."
Stella was stunned. From Flora's report she thought all was well. "Are you sure?" was all she could say.
Musa nodded affirmatively. "Afraid so. I saw an email from Miss Faragonda on her computer replying to a letter from Tecna about an 'urgent matter'. I confronted her about it and she confessed it was about the Lifestyle."
Bloom was also confused, Flora's report was so optimistic. "So what are we going to do?" The fire fairy took Stella's hand in hers, worried about losing her BFF over this.
Musa set her armload of clothes down on the coffee table. "I talked to her about it and she's agreed to talk things over with us first before she goes to see Miss F. She's real worried about the Lifestyle backfiring on us, but she's also worried about what'll happen to all of us if she goes to the headmistress. I told her that we'd all sit down and talk things out. We've gotta convince her that we're listening to her and not just blowing her off. I told her that I've got issues with the Lifestyle myself, and quite honestly I do. I just pushed 'em aside because the Lifestyle feels so awesome, but I don't want the group to blow up over this if we can avoid it."
Flora looked worried. "Did she say why she was against the Lifestyle? Did I do something wrong last night?"
Musa smiled at her reassuringly. "I'm sure you did everything right Flora. Tecna just wasn't quite ready to join in yet I guess. We jumped the gun trying to bring her in so soon. Now we gotta try to keep a lid on things until they simmer down a little bit."
Stella had to agree with Musa. Things were simmering now and threatening to blow up. That was the last thing they could afford. She began to mentally plan a strategy as she squeezed Bloom's hand in reassurance.
For her part the redhead was still concerned. If Faragonda got wind of this there could be serious trouble. She might even get expelled!
Flora sat disconsolately, wondering where she had gone wrong. She had been so convinced that Tecna had accepted the Lifestyle last night when they made love. How could she have been so blind? How could Tecna have misled her so?
Seeing that nobody seemed inclined to discuss things further Musa set to getting dressed while they waited for Tecna to emerge from the bathroom. She didn't know what was going to come of the upcoming discussion but she was determined that Tecna should understand that she still had friends, no matter what was ultimately decided.
*=*=*
A few minutes later Tecna emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and fully dressed. As she walked into the living room with her bathrobe folded over her arm she noticed the lack of conversation as everyone sat around the coffee table in a serious mood. It didn't take a genius to figure out what was wrong. She sighed and walked over to join her friends. "I presume from all the gloomy faces that Musa has already told you the news."
"Yes, she did," Stella replied, her voice icy despite her earlier promise to herself.
Tecna perched on the arm of the couch next to Bloom, not exactly her customary place to sit but all the other seats were taken up already. She glanced around at the others. "I can't say that I blame you all for being upset, but what else was I to do? You were all so gung ho on this Lifestyle and you didn't seem the least bit interested in seeing things from an alternative perspective."
"I'm not sure what 'alternate perspective' you're referring to. Everybody is happy, so what's the problem?" the sun fairy asked.
"Not everyone is happy," Tecna pointed out. "I am far from happy about this whole thing. First you tried to convince me that this 'Lifestyle' is all sunshine and roses, then you tried to shut me up by bringing up my own dalliance with Bloom, which it would seem Bloom has seen fit to share with all and sundry. After that you sent Flora to try to seduce me into joining you in this depravity. Have I left anything out?"
Stella remained silent, but not Bloom. "How dare you!" the redhead stammered. "I only mentioned our 'study session' in the hope you would be interested in joining the Lifestyle. If you're not interested then fine, but please don't let your fears ruin it for the rest of us." She wrapped her arms around Stella's arm and put her head on her BFF's shoulder, a tear trickling down her cheek.
Musa frowned. This was precisely the sort of situation she had been afraid of happening that had gotten her all wrapped up in telling lies to cover everyone's asses before. "Alright. Clearly we need to work on some rules to decide what is and isn't private information that shouldn't be shared around with others. But that's a discussion for another time. Can we please stick to the subject at hand? I don't agree with what Tecna has done but she does kind of have a point. She came to us to talk about what we were doing in the Lifestyle and we all kind of ganged up on her, trying to make her see things our way. Maybe we should try listening to her side of things instead of just assuming she doesn't have anything to say that's worth thinking about."
The sun fairy took a deep breath. "I agree. Please, Tecna, tell us why you think the Lifestyle is such a bad idea." She hugged her BFF as she waited for a reply.
Tecna had been shocked and offended by Bloom's emotional reaction to her accusation, but Musa's reasonable response and Stella's willingness to listen went a long way toward soothing her ruffled feathers. She glanced around at each of the others in turn. "Look, clearly I understand the temptation to have sex with each other. I've allowed myself to make that mistake more than once. And just look at what has happened as a result. I expected Bloom to keep our liaison confidential, as I myself did, but she ... unwittingly ... betrayed my trust and 'shared' it with the rest of you.
"Now there's bad feelings between the two of us over our mismatched expectations. I made that mistake again when Flora came to me, and evidently gave her the false impression that I had given in and accepted the Lifestyle. And that's only the problems that have arisen from my own personal involvement in these affairs. I'm not sure I'm aware of half the things all of you have been up to, but it did become painfully apparent that Musa was lying and lying badly to cover up for all the shenanigans going on around here before we all left on break.
"Betrayal, mismatched expectations, lies, miscommunications, hard feelings, all traceable directly back to this Lifestyle you're all involved in. And this doesn't even begin to get into how all this will ultimately affect relations with the boys or the problems which could crop up if our behavior were to become common knowledge. Do we really want to live lives that we have to cover up and lie about just for the sake of a little sexual pleasure?"
The sun fairy knew she had to respond, even though the technical fairy really had blasted the Lifestyle. "Tecna," she began, "You have made some interesting points. Yes, Bloom should have been more discrete." She squeezed her BFF's hand as she said this. "And yes, this could have repercussions should this become common knowledge." She paused. "You have participated in the Lifestyle. Certainly it couldn't have been that unpleasant." Then the answer hit her. "So, what suggestions do you have to fix these problems?"
That took Tecna by surprise. "Fix them? The simplest solution would be to simply abandon this Lifestyle and go back to the way things were before."
Musa shook her head. "That's a little too simplistic actually. You can't just stuff the genie back in the bottle once you let it out. Sure going down this road has caused us some problems, but trying to put things back the way they were before won't work. A lot of the problems that've cropped up are things we woulda had to deal with sooner or later anyway, and the rest won't just go away if we pretend everything's back the way it was. Take what just happened between you and Bloom. Do you think shutting down the Lifestyle is gonna make her forgive you for airing your grievance with her in front of the rest of us?"
Tecna looked taken aback. "Well, I, um..." She glanced at Bloom with a troubled look.
Stella gave Bloom's hand another squeeze. The redhead knew what she had to do. "Umm, Tecna... I'm... I'm... sorry. I had no right to announce what we did. I hope you can forgive me."
Tecna gave a sober nod. "I forgive you Bloom. And I hope you can forgive me for making a spectacle of our personal business in front of the others. I should have come to you privately about the matter."
Bloom smiled. "I forgive you." She put her head on Stella's shoulder.
Flora gave a big smile. "I'm so glad you two have patched things up. This is the sort of thing the Lifestyle is really all about: learning to understand and accept one another's differences while developing closer ties of warmth and love between us."
Tecna rubbed the back of her neck as she blushed at the way Flora framed what had just happened. "Well, I do still believe we can manage that sort of thing without getting sexually involved with one another, and all the complications that brings with it."
Stella had to reply to that. "Well, we can. The question is, do we want to?"
Musa nodded. "Yeah. You gotta admit Tecna, the sex aspect of the Lifestyle has some really sweet benefits. Aside from being hotter than heck it also lets us express a depth of emotion for one another we'd never be able to reach as 'just friends'."
"Definitely" said Bloom as she raised her head and gave Stella a passionate kiss.
Tecna turned her head away from the PDA between the blonde and redhead uncomfortably. "But that's one of my points. Those sorts of emotions are only meant to be shared between a man and a woman in a deeply committed relationship. They're not meant for 'just friends'."
Flora shook her head. "I don't know who came up with that idea but I think it's wrong to tell people that they're not allowed to feel strong positive emotions for one another. If more people believed in sharing their most positive feelings the world would be a much nicer place."
Stella let out a giggle. Flora's view on life might be a bit flowery but she did know the right thing to say. "I think Flora's right. Showing the people you care about just how much they mean to you can't be wrong."
Musa gave Tecna a knowing smile. "And just think. If more people felt the same as Flora does people would never have to be afraid of just how much they love someone else."
Tecna's cheeks flushed as pink as her hair as she turned her head away in embarrassment. "Well, perhaps."
"You know Tecna", Bloom stated, "Since joining the Lifestyle Stella and I have become even closer friends. And I've learned a lot, not only about her but myself as well" *Not to mention how much Mom and I learned about each other back home in Gardenia,* she left unsaid. "I had a cousin back on Earth who was a lesbian and that didn't go over well with her family. I didn't completely understand everything she was going through until now."
Tecna cast a troubled glance at Bloom. "What did happen between your cousin and her family?"
Bloom leaned forward and rested her elbows on her knees, an unhappy look on her face. "They couldn't accept her choice, so they disowned her. She's not seen or talked with them since."
Flora was the first to respond. "Oh my goodness! That's terrible! Family is supposed to stick by you and support you no matter what."
Stella hugged Bloom. "You're absolutely right, Flora, but what's right and what's convenient often clash."
Tecna couldn't help thinking about Stella's own family. More than once she had mentioned that her parents were presently separated, perhaps even divorced. Could it be the same kind of intolerance that broke up the family of Bloom's cousin that was driving a wedge through Stella's family as well? And was she herself guilty of similar intolerance that was threatening the integrity of the group? She folded her arms across her belly, clasping elbows with the opposite hands. "I see what you all are saying. I just have a hard time believing that love without conditions or limitations is safe."
"Love with conditions?" asked Stella. "If there are conditions, it isn't love."
Musa nodded. "I hear what you're saying Stella, but on the other hand there have to be some limits on love. Love isn't meant to be a blank check for people to do whatever the hell they want. Love means people gotta compromise with each other when they disagree. Like me and my dad. I love my dad, and I love my mom, but talking about mom hurts dad a lot so we don't talk about her, even though not talking about her kinda hurts me."
"I guess you're right." the blonde mused, realizing she couldn't talk to either of her parents about the other, about becoming a family again...
An uncomfortable silence fell over the group for a moment. A moment later Musa placed her hand on the back of her head and smiled. "Hey, sorry guys. I didn't mean to be a downer. I guess the point I was making is that ya gotta be willing to compromise if love's gonna work. Two people taking inflexible positions opposed to each other makes war rather than love. That's why we need to really listen to each other and talk things out when we disagree, or we can kiss our friendship goodbye."
"I agree totally," echoed Bloom.
Flora nodded. "Me too."
Tecna sighed. "I suppose, but then where do we draw the line? How far should one compromise for the sake of love?"
Musa shrugged. "I guess you just gotta use your best judgment. It helps to have smart friends who can give you good advice though."
"Can't argue with that logic," Stella added.
Tecna frowned thoughtfully. "So are you saying that you want me to join this 'Lifestyle' and be there to give you all good advice?"
Everyone was surprised when all four of the others said "Yes!" at the exact same moment. Flora giggled and grinned. "We would love to have you join us Tecna, and we could really use your help figuring out all the problems the Lifestyle has."
"Seconded!" added Stella.
Musa nodded. "Like you pointed out, the Lifestyle is full of problems. And you are arguably the smartest person in this room. It also helps that you're not so smitten with the Lifestyle that you won't question it."
"So what do you you think, Tecna?" Bloom spoke up. "Will you join us?"
Tecna glanced around at the others, all of whom were staring at her expectantly. Finally she let out a sigh. "I don't know if this is the smartest idea, but I suppose it's worth giving it a try."
Musa grinned and turned to Flora with a big grin. "Alright!" She held her hand out high, inviting a high five which Flora provided with a giggle. Bloom and Stella turned to each other with big smiles and gave each other a celebratory hug. Everyone was a little surprised when Flora jumped up from her chair and dashed around the coffee to give Tecna a big hug, much to the technical fairy's embarrassment and delight.
It was left to Stella to bring up the next item of crisis. "So Tecna," she hesitated, "What are you going to say to Ms. Faragonda?"
An uncomfortable look settled on Tecna's features as she disengaged from Flora's embrace. "I don't know. This puts everything back up in the air just when I thought I was settled on a course of action. I mean, I did send that email asking to meet with her, so I have to tell her something, and I really don't want to have to lie to her, but at the same time I'm no longer entirely convinced telling her everything is such a good idea."
Musa nodded. "Tell me about it. Being in the position of having to decide what to tell people about things they might not like is not a comfortable situation to be in."
Flora held out her hand. "I think she should tell Miss Faragonda the truth. Maybe she will understand."
Bloom winced. "That doesn't sound like such a good idea!"
Stella hugged Bloom. "Maybe not, but on the other hand she just might be very supportive of the situation."
Musa held one hand out to the side. "It's possible. Ms. F. is pretty cool for a teacher. She seems to really care about us students. I think if she knows we're worried about the problems with what we're doing she'll be a bit more understanding."
"I agree, that makes sense," Stella added. Turning to the technical fairy she added, "It's up to you. The decision is yours."
The pink-haired girl nodded. "It does make sense. I'll go see Miss Faragonda after classes and see what she has to say."
Musa smiled in relief. "Sounds like a plan. Here's another one: Let's go eat! We're late for breakfast and if we don't get a move on we're liable to miss it."
"I was hoping somebody was going to mention that!" said Bloom. "I'm starved and can't wait until lunch!"
Everyone laughed at that as they got up to leave. As they filed toward the door Musa clapped a hand on Tecna's shoulder. "So how do you feel now Tecna?"
The technical fairy gave her a half-worried, half-hopeful smile. "Like I have friends who care what I have to say. I just hope I haven't doomed the Lifestyle before we have a chance to decide if it's worth saving."
