Second Chance at Life.

Chapter 15.

“Mmmm….” Ember moaned and tried to straighten his toes. They felt extremely sore as he has been forced to kneel on them for hours by now. Ember lifted his head up and tilted it from side to side, looking at the stone wall while hoping that Danny would step out from the wall and release him from his restraints.

However, Danny was nowhere to be found. Ember sighed as deep as he could and tried to ease his sore jaws. The large ballgag really made a good job on silencing him and making him drool like crazy as unwanted side effect. “Where the hell did Vlad got these stuffs anyway ?” He thought miserably.

Meanwhile, not so far away in the middle of the forest.

“Uh… Man… That hurts…” Danny groaned as he started to regain consciousness. He crawled toward a rather large tree. With lots of effort, Danny pulled himself up to sitting position and lean against the tree. “Ember…” He whispered softly as he tilted his head up, looking at the dark night sky.

“G... Going ghost !”Danny whispered sharply and tried to go ghost. It worked, but just barely. The transformation can’t be completed because of Danny’s exhaustion and lack of power. Even worse, he actually coughed blood because he forced himself to do it. Rather than risking further internal injury, Danny decided to take it easy and tried to rest for an hour or two. He can’t help to imagine what Ember had to deal with at the moment.

“Danny… Please… I don’t want to spend another hour here…” Ember thought to himself as he heaved himself up again. Everything he did hurts himself. When he tried to relax, his wrists protested in agony as they bear his full weight. When he tried to kneel upright, it exhausted him very quickly. Apparently Vlad wasn’t making it easy for him and Vlad determined to teach him some lessons about privacy.

Hours gone by like eternity when you are struggling against pain and agony. It felt even worse if you’re completely restrained and unable to free yourself. None of this made Ember excited. He did not develop an erection even though he like being helpless. His frustration grew rapidly and unable to bear it any more, he screamed Danny’s name as loud as he could against the ball gag. He sincerely hoped that somewhere, Danny would hear his scream.

“EMBER !” Danny suddenly jolted up, awakened from his sleep. His chest was pounding rapidly and his breathing was fast. “I must save him…” Danny took a deep breath and pulls himself up. He felt strong enough to go ghost, but decided not to. After all, Vlad is also a Halfa and if Danny turned into ghost, Vlad could sense him easily.

Slowly, Danny began to walk toward Vlad’s mansion while hoping that he could somehow rescued his boyfriend.

Danny reached Vlad’s mansion soon. He transformed into ghost for a second, trying to locate where did Vlad held Ember captive. Fortunately, Ember was held in a room that was actually near the main entrance to the mansion. Danny also sensed that Vlad was working with his ghost portal in the basement. “It’s now or never…” Danny reverted to his human form and sneaked toward the main entrance.

He made sure that there are no video surveillances in the perimeter. After making sure that it was safe for him to traverse, he sneaked into the mansion very carefully. Danny paused for a moment near the entrance to Vlad's mansion. He took a small peek inside of it, making sure that Vlad wasn't around. Fortunately, Vlad was still busy working in the basement. Without any hesitation, Danny braced himself for the worst and steps into the mansion.

Inside the mansion, he could hear a familiar faint moaning noise that was originated from behind a door. It was located just about few meters away from where he was standing at the moment. Danny didn't have to guess who was making the pleading moan. "It must be Ember..." He thought.

Carefully, Danny pressed himself against a stone wall and tiptoed toward the room. Fortunately it was not locked. Slowly, Danny opened the door and sneaked into the dark room. He reached for his pocket and produced a lighter that also got a small torch at the end of it. He lit the torch and scanned the room.

“Mppf… ?”.

“Ember ?”

“Mpf !”

“Good god, Ember !” Danny tip toed toward the source of the moaning noise and he found what he was looking for. “Ember !” Danny launched himself and wrapped his arms around Ember’s upper torso. He gave Ember what he needed most at the moment, a comfort from his boyfriend. Quickly, Danny removed the gag that prevented Ember from talking.

“D… Danny…” Ember sniffed as he rested his head on Danny’s shoulder. He greatly welcomed Danny's much needed comfort. The helpless Halfa sighed in relief as he knew that his torture would be over very soon. "T... Thank you..." He whispered softly in Danny's ear.

“Sshhh… I’m getting us out from here…”. Danny began to release Ember from the restraints. It didn’t take him long to remove all of them from his boyfriend’s limbs. As predicted, Ember wrapped his arms around Danny tightly before nuzzling against his boyfriend. That night, Danny has just became Ember's knight in shining armour.

“Let’s get out of here…” Danny whispered as he helped Ember to stand up.

“But, I’m naked !” Ember protested as he pulled himself up. He tried to find something to block his manhood from the plain view. To his demise, there wasn't anything that could be used to do so inside the room.

“We can worry about that later !” Danny hissed as he drags Ember toward the door.

The extraction went smoothly. The two young boys managed to escape from the mansion without getting detected. Little that they knew, Vlad was actually letting them go easily. He didn’t have any intention to harm them any more.

“Alright… Let’s go ghost and go home”.

“I can’t…”.

“What ?!” Danny’s eyes bulged.

“Vlad zapped me with his anti ghost stun gun… I can’t go ghost for at least few days”.

“Damn… Wait… I’ve an idea…” Danny smiled and took a red crystal ball from his pocket. “I need your aid, if you’re not busy…” He whispered into the crystal.

Suddenly, a figure in dark robe and hood appeared amidst a thick black smoke. “You called, Daniel ?” He asked.

“Hello, Grim… And yes… You see, we just escaped from our captor’s mansion but…” Danny paused and looked at Ember. “Our captor managed to block Ember’s ghost power and the block would last for few days… Can you bypass it ?”.

“No problem, man” Grim raised his scythe.

“D… Danny….” Ember started to back away. He was still scared of the Grim Reaper.

“Hold still, McLain…” Grim Reaper chanted an unknown mantra before pointing his menacing scythe toward Ember.

Ember was enveloped in green pulsing light for few seconds before turned into his ghost form.

“All done” Grim lowered his scythe.

“Awesome. Thank you so much for that, Grim” Danny smiled cheerfully.

“Anytime, Daniel… Although you might have to carry him around for the moment…” Grim pointed at Ember who was still scared and petrified on the spot.

“Poor Ember…”.

“Ah… And while I’m here…” Grim turned to face Danny. “I receive some news from the Underworld… It seems that the overlord-“

“Wait, is this going to take a long time to explain ?”

“Kind of…”

“Let’s go to Ember’s apartment then, we can talk there… Besides, I don’t want him to catch cold” Danny pointed at the stark naked Ember, who was still petrified because of his fear toward Grim Reaper and his spell.

“Good point” Grim nodded.

“Going ghost !” Danny transformed into ghost. He grabbed Ember’s hand and Grim’s bony hand. He proceeded to make all of them intangible and flew as fast as he could toward Ember’s apartment.

“My God… The Grim Reaper… Danny sure got powerful ally…” Vlad sighed in relief. He was watching them from the distance. He definitely did not want to mess with the Grim Reaper.

“A… A… ACHOO !”

“Gesundheit”.

“Bless you…”

“Thanks…” Ember sniffed. He already caught a cold. He’s no longer butt naked and already fully dressed in something warm.

“Wait here…” Danny sighed and disappeared into the kitchen. He returned after five minutes with a cup of instant soup. He handed the soup to Ember.

“So you two were also lovers, eh ?” Grim asked in his thick Jamaican accent.

“Yes, we are…” Ember replied before sipping the soup in.

“How cute…” Grim chuckled.

Danny developed a blush on his cheek. He immediately changed the subject. “So, Grim, what were you going to tell us ?”.

“Ah, yes, about the overlord…” Grim paused. “You see, I’ve gathered lots of information about him and his background”. He reached for his scythe and projected an image of the Freakshow on the wall. “Now, watch this” Grim showed the picture of Freakshow’s current crystal ball. Usually, it would have an effect to the mind of a ghost or a Halfa event though it was just a picture. However, Danny and Ember didn’t show any sign of being under a mind control.

“Hey, I don’t feel anything…” Said Danny as he stared at the crystal.

“Exactly, Daniel. The crystal that Freakshow use was just an ordinary crystal”.

“How’d he control the ghost then ?” Ember inquired.

“Trough the traditional method of fear and oppression. From what I gathered, he’s extremely powerful… Almost as powerful as I am” Grim switched the image projection off. He appeared to be in deep contemplation.

“How the hell did manage to become that powerful… ?. He was just an ordinary person when he committed suicide”

“I want to know that as well”

“At least we got a strong Halfa and the Grim Reaper on our side. That got to count for something, right ?” Danny tried to lift the gloomy mood.

“Danny’s right… We got you on our side. No one can stand against you, Grim” Said Ember. He appeared to be trying to become more friendly and get acquainted with Grim Reaper.

Grim chuckled at first then laughed. His laugh sent chill down Ember and Danny’s spine. “You’re right, man. No one can stand against me… The Grim Reaper !” Grim stood up proudly. Lightning arched trough the sky and into the ground as he announced his name.

“Easy on the evil laugh, will ya ?. You’re making me nervous !” Danny squeaked. He was forcing himself not to hide behind Ember’s back.

“Sorry…” Grim stopped laughing and sits down again. “By the way, Daniel” He paused and casts his eyes upon a Fenton Thermos that was hanging on the wall. “Would you mind giving me one of that ghost catching contraption ?. I found it interesting”.

“Not at all. Wait here while I get a fresh new one… And don’t reap Ember’s soul, okay ?” Said Danny while turning into ghost and disappeared toward his home. Ember shuddered at Danny’s words.

“I won’t”.

“…” Somehow, Ember kept on staring at Grim nervously.

Danny returned few seconds later with a new Fenton Thermos in his hand. “Here you go, Grim” He said while reverting to human form and handed the thermos over to Grim.

“Excellent…” Grim smiled as he studied the thermos.

“What do you need it for ?”.

“Catching ghost, what else ?”.

“Hmmm…. Major ghost outbreak in Endsville ?” Ember asked.

“Yes, they really annoying me…”.

“I’m not surprised, after all, you reap their soul”.

“Occupational hazard of being the grim reaper, I guess” Grim shrugged. “I just hope that Billy won’t suck himself into this thing…”.

“Is this Billy also a ghost ?” Danny asked while frowning.

“No, but that child is a major idiot with IQ close to zero”.

“Ha ha, don’t worry, Grim. Fenton Thermos won’t work on human. Only ghost and Halfa in ghost form” Danny laughed.

“Oh ? What would happen if you get sucked in ?”.

“Easy, I just revert to human form and the thermos will spit me out… With lots of ectoplasm” Danny grimaced.

“Awh…” Grim looked at Ember and he was somehow disappointed.

“Hey, don’t suck my boyfriend in !”.

“…Okay, lovebirds… I’ll leave you to entertain yourself then” Grim shook his head as he stands up. “Thanks for the contraption, Daniel”.

“It’s called the Fenton Thermos”.

“Right… Thanks for the Fenton Thermos” With that, Grim disappeared into thin air, leaving only a wisp of black smoke that smelled like the ashes of a volcano.

“Danny…” Ember tilted his head at Danny after Grim disappeared.

“Yes, Em ?”

“Thanks for rescuing me even though you’re out of ghost power” Ember smiled.

“Heheh… No problem” Danny deposited himself on the couch. He pulled Ember close, letting the other boy to lean against him.

“I guess we won’t be sharing a bed for awhile now, eh ?” Ember chuckled as he reached for a tissue box and blows his nose with a piece of tissue.

“We definitely won’t” Danny shook his head. “Good thing we’re on vacation”.

“Bah… I’d rather be sick at school days”.

“Me too…”.

“Say, Ember… What did Vlad do to you ?”

Ember developed a sudden blush as he recalled the way he was being held captive by Vlad. “Nothing… He only locked me there”.

“Nothing at all ?”

“Yup”.

“Man… I would do you in if I were Vlad”.

“I guess not everyone is as horny as a dog like you, Danny”.

“Hey, that’s low !” Danny punched Ember on the shoulder playfully.
