Time
Time waits for no one. If you run out of time it’s gone.
Zuko had always been an out of sight out of mind kind of guy when it came to relationships. Distance made his heart forget. That doesn't mean he was a cheater. No, he was faithful to whomever he was with at the time. It did mean it was easier for him to move on. Out of sight plus out of mind was usually all Zuko needed. This method did not work with Azula. She stayed on his mind. There was always something in the palace to remind him of her. They shared the same home for years. They played together in garden. He remembered meals they shared. He and she shared memories in almost every room in the palace.
Azula was his sister. The palace was just as much her home as it was his. Zuko pictured he and Azula playing. She was chasing him around the pond. They were laughing. Soon their laughter changed. Zuko kept walking until he reached the Azuroh. It was as if his body and mind were working against him. Zuko realized where he was and started to turn around.
"Fire Lord Zuko have you decided when we should leave?"
"Captain Akra, I've decided that you and your crew should go on vacation. I am giving you all time off to spend with your families".
"Thank you, Fire Lord Zuko, I promise we'll be back and ready sail before Princess Azula's original scheduled time to return."
"Which is?"
"In three weeks. She wants to be back by the summer solstice."
"You're right. I just wanted to make sure you knew."
"Fire Lord Zuko, I would never never never forget a command from Princess Azula." Captain Akra bowed. "Thank you again".
Zuko walked away. "She's coming back." The news of Azula's return brought momentary smile to his face. He sighed. "Azula is coming back. I have to purge her from my system in less than three weeks."

One week later Ty Lee arrived at Hearth Island. It was time for her shift. Ty Lee was excited and looking forward to her shift for the first time. She and Azula's friendship would never be the same but she felt closer to Azula than she had in a long time.
Li and Lo met Ty Lee as soon as she entered the fortress.
"We are so happy to see you, Ty Lee."
"We are concerned for Princess Azula", said Li.
"Yes, she has been very emotional this month", add Lo.
"Miso will not return until after the summer solstice". Li sighed.
Lo gently shake her head. "We don't know what to do".
"Where is she?"
The twins pointed to the war room. Ty Lee walked down the hall. The room was only a few feet away but it seemed much further. Her nerves fluttered as she reached for the door. She took a deep breath and opened the double doors. Ty Lee smiled when she saw Azula. Her smile became bigger and bigger.
Azula smiled. "It's good to see you Ty Lee, but you’ll get wrinkles if you keep smiling like that."
Ty Lee's smile shrunk down to a normal size. "Azula you look radiant I have never seen your aura so bright." She tilted her head slightly. "Wait, I never saw your aura. Blue flames always blocked your aura. I've only seen auras this bright and centered when," her eyes grew wide. "I know what it is, I am so happy for you Azula," she hugged Azula, "and Zuko too."
Azula squirmed out of Ty Lee's grip. "Oh please don't tell me you think I am in love with Zuko because I am not".
"I wasn't thinking that, but I know you’re pregnant."
"No, I can't be pregnant. There is no way I could've gotten pregnant by Zuko"
"I thought you and Zuko consummated the covenant".
"We did", she sighed.
"That's how you get pregnant"
"I know that, I can't be pregnant by him. I don’t want a part of Zuko growing inside of me. The first born in our family don't have a good track record. Zuko wouldn't even be fire lord if he didn't have help. Uncle Iroh came home a failure. "
"But the baby will have you."
"That's true. I can keep it from being a total screw up as long as Zuko doesn't get too involved." Azula placed her hand on her stomach. "Under my tutelage it can’t fail. I'll make sure the baby turns out to be a great fire lord." She smiled. "Ty Lee it's time for me to return and give Zuko the good news."

Zuko couldn't believe it Azula was back. She wanted to meet with him. He cancelled all his meetings. Butterflies surrounded the knot in his stomach. It was the first time he'd ever felt that way. He wasn't sure if she returned in a good mood or not. Zuko had a special tea brewed for their meeting. Master Yoshi had given it to him as a wedding gift. The rainbow tea was a rare special tea that would make anyone who drank it happy. The old man told Zuko to use it in emergencies.
It was noon, time for Zuko to face Azula. Azula waited for him in the main garden. Zuko froze upon arrival. The emotion he felt were overwhelming and confusing. He was happy to see her. He'd missed her. The problem was he missed her as a lover not his sister. It bothered him. His first thought was to take her to his bedroom and show how much he'd missed her. That was not a thought a big brother should have for his little sister. Zuko couldn't help it. She was bewitching.
"I will not give in to temptation. I will not. This has to end." Zuko inhaled deeply and started walking toward Azula. He tried to remember the good times he and Azula had playing near the pond. They were so young and free. That was before Ozai learned Azula was a prodigy and he deemed Zuko a failure. "It was long time ago", he whispered. Zuko noticed the turtle ducks swam on the opposite side of the pond away from Azula. The closer he got to her the more he thought the turtle ducks had the right idea.
A messenger stopped Zuko. The messenger handed Zuko a message. The message said that there was a problem in town. The cabbage man and the beet man were causing trouble. The men were scheduled to meet with Zuko today about importing and exporting goods in the Fire Nation. Zuko cancelled the meeting. Now the two were arguing in the middle of town. Supporters on each side were involved as well. It was something his guards could handle. Azula could read Zuko's face she knew before he spoke their tea would be postponed.
"Azula, there is an emergency I have to take care of. "
"I see the Fire Nation comes first." A scowl covered her face. "Go Zuko."
"I'll be back. We'll talk later." Zuko knew she was pissed. He wanted to comfort her, but he didn't know how she would respond. He didn't how he would react to her response. "I promise." Zuko saw a servant in the distance with the tea. "In the meantime enjoy the tea. It's a rare and special tea from Tieguanyin." Zuko made his exit.
Azula watched Zuko leave. Tears started stinging her eyes. "I am not going to cry”. She wiped her eyes.
"Your tea Princess Azula", the rail thin servant placed the tea and teacakes, "do you need anything else?"
"No"
"What about Fire Lord Zuko? Will he need anything else?" Azula gave the servant a look that made him stutter. "SSSSSorrry". He quickly left.

Azula decided not to waste good tea especially when it was a rare tea from Tieguanyin. She took a sip.
"Princess Azula may I join you? I heard about Fire Lord Zuko’s sudden departure. A lovely young lady should never have to drink tea alone." Iroh smiled.
Azula read the excitement in her uncle's eyes. "Very well. "
She took another sip while Iroh poured himself a cup. It had been ages since he had rainbow tea. He inhaled the tea's scent. It did not smell like he remembered. The smell was familiar but he couldn't remember where he smelled the scent. Azula took another sip the tea. Iroh inhaled once more. He remembered the scent. He slapped the teacup out of Azula's hand.
"Uncle it's not that bad. "
"How much tea did you drink?"
"That was my first cup. I, I” Azula’s head started to swim. “What was in that tea?” It felt as if something was squeezing her heart. Iroh caught her just as she fell out of her chair.

It took Zuko a little over an hour to resolve the issue with the cabbage man and the beet man. The walk to the palace normally would've taken 25 minutes, but Zuko stretched it out by stopping and talking to people. People commented on how thoughtful he was. They had no idea he was avoiding Azula. The 25-minute walk had turned into a 90-minute stroll.
"Zuko"
"Sokka, Toph, what are you two doing here?"
"This”, Sokka held up a flyer that said Battle Royal with two men fighting, "isn't great".
"What is it?
"A team of earth benders and water benders are going to battle a team of fire benders and earth benders. It was The Boulder's idea." Toph folded her arms. "He wanted me, Katara, and Aang to team up, but Katara decided they needed some alone time."
"You should come." Sokka's eyes lit up. "You, Toph, and I could be a team. The amateur matches are open to any team of three."
"I can't, I have to deal with Azula. She's back and you know how she can be. I am sure when you took her back to Hearth Island she was a real pain."
Sokka scratched his head. "Actually, no she barely said a word and her plums were delicious."
"What?"
"Her plums she has an orchard of dragon plums. Come to think of it I didn't see her again after she had a servant show us to the orchard. Katara thought maybe she was upset about something. Did she say something to you?"
"Me, no. I don't know why Azula would be upset. I am sure she was just in one of her moods."
"Zuko are you glad Azula is back?"
"Glad, Toph, why would I be glad?"
"Are you or aren’t you?"
Zuko tried to remain as calm as possible. "No, Azula being back means trouble.”
"Sokka, go get us some snacks for the match tonight. "
"Good idea Toph. I'll be back with the snacks."
"Zuko you finally did it."
Zuko gulped. His eyes shifted away from Toph. "Did what?"
"Lied to the four of us about Azula".
"What are you talking about?"
"You lied to Aang when you said there were problems and Azuroh had to turn around. You lied to Katara when you told her you forgot to go to Hearth Island get Azula because you were swamped with work. You just lied to Sokka about not knowing why she would be upset. You lied to me just now about not being glad she was back."
"Toph, I am sorry it's just...
"Fire Lord Zuko" the messenger bowed, "I was sent to get you. It's regarding Princess Azula".
"Toph, I have to go. Azula's probably upset we didn't have tea. Go enjoy the match. We'll talk at another time. "
