Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Things are about to get dangerous! Plus Eve will do something she never thought she'd do! Please review! It keeps me going!
It had been 4 days since she had seen him and not a word from him the whole time. It was beginning to make her scared that something has gone seriously wrong. Every night she spent curled up with Samuel, wishing her phone would ring and yet every morning there would be nothing on the screen.
She sits at her desk, staring out the window with her thoughts swirling in circles in her head. The sound of her office door opening spins her around in hope. Instead Fox settles in the chair across from her, David nervously closing the door and quickly crossing the room to stand behind her. Suddenly her nerves soar with fear. “What’s wrong?” “We don’t know.” Fox waves towards Eve’s phone. “We got a text that you will be getting a phone call and we would need to be here to hear it.” “Whatever he says, no matter how farfetched, go along with it.” David’s knuckles turn white as he holds onto Fox’s chair. Before she can respond, her phone begins to vibrate. Warily, she picks it up and turns it on speaker. “Hello?” “I need you.” His voice is very quiet and tight with some hidden emotion. “Really?” She tries to sound casual and sensual. “How badly do you need me?” “I need you today. I’ve been away from you too long and I’m tired of them throwing second rate women at me. You could show them what a real obedient woman is like.” She nearly sputters in indignation but realizes he’s playing a role and she has to go along with it. “And how do you want me to get to you?” “I’ve already arranged tickets and a car for you. I will text you with the particulars and a few things I need you to get from my rooms.” David hands her a paper with the message Ask a question about Alexander. “What do you want me to do about Alexander’s lessons?” She looks up at David, hoping it will get him what he wants. “He’s just a boy. He can handle a few days without you. Tell him to study transportation while you are gone and you can call him nightly to quiz him.” David nods, understanding the message. “I will get it done right away.” She lifts a brow, asking if they need anything else. Fox shakes her head no. “Anything else that you need, Darling?” “Only you.” His voice nearly breaks and she realizes he’s masking fear. “Give my apologies to Fox for taking you away but only you can take care of my needs right now.” “I will.” Her voice goes soft. “I will see you soon.” “Until this evening.” She looks up at David as the line goes dead. “What was that all about?” “Nothing good. He’s found something and wants you down there to cover his ass apparently.” David gazes down at Fox, worry etched on his face. “It sounds like he needs her for a cover story so they won’t have him under constant surveillance. He has given her the out to call Alexander everyday to update us and to let him know if they need an emergency transport out of there.” “I don’t like it.” Fox growls back. “She doesn’t have the training to protect herself.” “Will you please quit talking like I’m not in the room?” She slams her hand down on the desk. “How do you know what kind of training I’ve had?” David rounds on her. “And what training have you had? Are you a security officer? Police? FBI?” “No but my dad was a police officer and he taught me more than you realize.” She stands and paces the room. “Give me a few weapons that are small enough to hide on me and let me know the whole situation down there.” Fox opens the door to Owen’s quarters. “I’ve only been in here a few times. I’m not sure where anything is at.” Eve glances down at her phone, scanning the list. “It’s mostly clothes. I’m sure that is in his bedroom.” She places a warm hand on Fox’s shoulder. “Maybe you should have Xander help me. I’m sure he knows where the rest of the stuff is.” “Ok.” Fox looks lost for a moment before turning away. “Be careful.” She nods and heads farther into the living area. She notices the plush couches and deep rugs engulfing the room. With a frown, she heads towards what she believes is his bedroom. At first glance, she thinks it’s a hotel room. Every pillow in its place, blankets tucked tight against the bed. Then she sees the slight layer of dust on the quilt and glances back over her shoulder at the living area. Tucked into a corner of a couch is a blanket and pillow. It’s then that she realizes he doesn’t sleep in his bed but on one of the couches. She shakes her head in confusion and walks over to one of the dressers. She sifts through them, pulling out jeans and t-shirts that he normally would not wear on a business trip. ‘Expecting an off road trip are we?’ she thinks as she pulls out a duffel and folds everything into a little bundle. She finds only one pair of pajama bottoms and grins. ‘So you don’t wear these to bed either. Interesting.’ Xander walks in, looking around. “So what do you need?” She hands him her phone. “I don’t know where any of this is.” “No problem.” He waves his hand and containers float into the room. “Everything is in here. I’ll sort through it and get what you need.” “Thanks.” She pushes the duffel towards him. “Just put everything in here.” She watches him for a moment, considering. “If I call you and tell you we need out of there ASAP, can you transport us out?” He frowns. “Of course, as long as I have something to track you with.” “What do you need?” She sits on the bed, watching him pull out several archaic items. “Something personal.” He glances up at her to see if she understands. “Something you’ve worn lately is good but something from your physical body is better.” She walks over and finds a small pair of scissors. With a deft twist, she knots a small lock of hair at the base of her neck. She cuts it off and hands it to him. He stares down at it. “Thanks. You realize that you are trusting me a lot with this.” She pats him on the shoulder as she walks to the door. “Because I do trust you. I want him home safe. I’ll get my things together and meet your dad at the airport. Don’t be late with the bag.” His body tenses, suddenly understanding the seriousness of the situation. “I won’t. Be safe.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
