Faragonda cruised over the city as she had the night before. The procedure this time was basically the same. No one had identified any problems with it, so there was no reason to change the basic strategy, just some of the details. There were to be some changes in the rape operation, due to the power of Dark Bloom and greater difficulty holding her, but they had to catch her first. And defeat her.
As before, the tactic for the person who found her was to hang on until help arrived. And to hope Bloom could get there quickly. Toward that end, the Geek Squad had reworked the search areas to keep Bloom near the center of the city as much as possible. That would reduce her response time to most locations, as opposed to having to transverse the city if Dark Bloom was discovered on the opposite site.
The night ground on, with the same anxiety about finding their target, a contradictory mixture of urgency and dread. Like the night before, there was the danger to the public of not finding her and the greater danger to themselves of indeed doing so.
Faragonda efficiently searched, responding to the positioning commands for callsign Boss. The other flyers periodically received and acknowledged their course changes. Once again, the sighting command came later on, when she was starting to worry that they would not connect with the target.
The encounter was not nearly as calm this time, however. Musa’s panicked voice suddenly came over the air with no attempt at following radio protocol. “Aieeeeee! She’s attacking me! She came out of nowhere! Helllllp! She’s going to---”
At the ominous breakoff, Timmy sent the convergence headings to the others as quickly as he could. When Faragonda heard hers she changed course and flew as fast as she was capable, hoping Musa was all right. Timmy was still talking, now providing distance to target for each of them to prevent overflying the intercept point in the dark.
But the precaution wasn’t necessary for her. Like before, Faragonda arrived after Bloom and the Dragonfire was anything but subtle, especialy at night. She had absolutely no trouble finding the battle site, evaluating the situation as she approached. Taranee was helping to light up the scene with her own fire attacks, as was Stella and her sun power. Faragonda could see that several of the other fairies and Guardians had engaged the Dark Drop.
But she didn’t see Musa among them and scanned the landscape below. Obviously Dark Bloom had been distracted from her attack on the fairy, but how far did she get with it? Sure enough, Faragonda picked up a heat signature on the sidewalk below.
Faragonda touched down on the pavement just as Musa was picking herself up off it. “Are you all right, dear?”
“I think so. She drove me into the concrete, but I don’t think anything is broken. I’m just kinda bunged up.” She held up her arms, displaying scrapes and bruises.
“Did she rape you?”
Musa sighed heavily. “Yeah, she did. I was too stunned to fight her. She was rough, but I’m not really hurting that much. Not there anyway.”
Faragonda lifted Musa’s skirt, and pulled down the panties. “Let me look at it for you.” She spread the ass cheeks and checked. “There’s no blood or apparent damage. Not like Cornelia or Flora.”
“She didn’t have time to hurt me much. You guys showed up and she had to give it up.”
“It looks like she did cum, though.”
“I’m afraid so. I’m sorry. I’m supposed to be helping drain the anchor energy and I go and increase it by letting her rape me.”
“No one is blaming you, dear. It was an ambush. You couldn’t help it.” Faragonda looked up at the battle still raging. “Do you feel well enough to fight?”
“Not really, but I will anyway. That bitch isn’t getting away with this.”
The two of them took off and engaged with the enemy, joining the battle in progress.
Just observing the fight was difficult, much less participating. The main problem was the difference between the two primary combatants, the two versions of Bloom. The Dragonfire was highly visible in the dark, almost too much so. Like everything else about Dark Bloom, the Shadowfire was just the opposite. Where regular Bloom glowed, her counterpart was shrouded in blackness, even more so than the ordinary darkness of night. She was extremely difficult to see under full power and therefore hard to aim at. The night vision goggles helped by showing the Dark Drop’s body heat, but those using them had to be careful not to look at Bloom, to avoid flaring the goggles out and making themselves completely blind for a time.
Still, Dark Bloom was at a slight disadvantage. She and regular Bloom were evenly matched, and the powers of the other fairies and the Guardians were not insignificant. They were far less than hers, but enough to be a problem when combined with the Dragonfire. Interestingly, the powers of the Guardians were more effective against her than those of the Winx Club members. She could absorb the winx energy bursts with her own power, but the Guardians were throwing elemental forces at her rather than magical energy. For instance, Hay Lin’s mini-tornadoes slammed her around. Cornelia wasn’t able to help much, being so far above the ground, but the others were having an effect on the Dark Drop.
Dark Bloom backed up against a building to minimize the number of directions she had to defend. No one could get behind her any longer. So her opponents spread out vertically instead, attacking from above and below. The Dark Drop made another move to further reduce the number of fronts. She should have gone upward, to gain the high ground, but instead she descended to the bottom floor of the building and landed. Now she only had to fight those above her and facing her. There could be no one below her. Also, the sidewalk was covered by an overhang, forcing her attackers from above into a shallow angle.
Dark Bloom’s position reduced the number of directions she had to defend, but it turned out to be a tactical error because it brought Corny into play. While Dark Bloom was distracted by another big hit from the Dragonfire, Corny simply used her power to latch onto the ground under the sidewalk. She pulled a big chunk out of the ground, including the section of sidewalk that the evil fairy was standing on. After a sudden lift, Dark Bloom’s head collided violently with the overhang she had been using for cover. She fell over, unconscious, as Corny lowered the chunk back to its original position.
Everyone was astonished that the Earth Guardian had defeated Dark Bloom by herself, but of course they were grateful that the battle was over without anyone getting seriously hurt.
