Chapter 124
Katara wasn’t sure how long she slept, but when she woke, Zuko was still holding her. His eyes were closed and he looked so peaceful. Her head was against his chest, the top of his thighs were against the bottom of hers. The tip of his penis was against her vagina. It felt disgusting and slimy; she felt disgusting and slimy. The stuff that came out of Zuko was inside her. She took a deep breath and swallowed bile; she had been forced and held down enough times to know that semen was sticky. This felt different. It was her own contribution to the goo between her legs making her feel slimy.
Katara didn’t think anything could be worse than the first time he ripped into her. She didn’t think she’d ever feel more worthless than when he stripped the safety of her element away from her. But timing his assault to her dream so she would climax was several times crueler and more vicious. She had been too upset to even think about washing up. She would heal Appa. She would save Sokka. She would save Aang. If it took her very last breath, she would gut him like a tiger-seal after making him eat his penis.
Katara winced as he tried to pull away from him. She was sore but otherwise not hurting. She swallowed another wave of bile; last night was unpleasant but it hadn’t hurt either. She took several deep breathes to regain her composure then lifted the arm that was on top of her. His eyes opened.
“Hey Katara,” Zuko yawned, hastily turning to cover his mouth with his bicep. “Did you sleep well?”
“Did I sleep well?” Katara parroted angrily. She reigned in her temper. This was not the time or place. She had to get Aang and Sokka to safety first, and then she could let the bastard know exactly what was on her mind through a vigorous round of Bloodbending.
She settled on, “I’ve slept better, I’ve slept worse.” A soft bed with Zuko in it was a close tie to a damp sleeping bag on deck between Appa’s rear end and her brother’s feet.
Zuko brushed a clump of curls behind her ear, “Are you ready to get up?”
“Yeah, I’m hungry and I need a bath,” she replied wriggling away from him, thankful he didn’t find the action arousing.
They dressed in the dirty robes from the night before and walked to the bathing room. Zuko set up the privacy screens and placed a clean robe where she could find it. After the water she directed inside herself ran thrice ran clear and soaping herself several times she accepted Zuko’s offer to wash her hair. She wrapped the robe around herself and tied it tightly before sitting at the shampoo bowl. Zuko heated his hands warmed the shampoo before placing his fingers in her hair.
Katara feel asleep as his strong fingers massaged her scalp with the right amount of pressure. She woke up as he was finger combing her hair dry with some type of goop. Her curls had never been so soft or shiny so he revised her punishment. She would amputate his legs and penis then chain him to a shampoo bowl. She was taking the useful parts of him to visit Gran Gran at least once before she gutted him.
He was far better than the spa at Ba Sing Se and the royal attendants.
They dressed and she insisted on going to the dungeons before disembarking. They were empty.
“No!” Katara screamed as she attempted to push past Zuko and run up the stairway.
Zuko grabbed her, pulling her back to his chest, and pinning her arms to her stomach when felt the ship lurching as she thrashed about frantically. He rationally explained, “They’re alive, Katara. The Avatar is a symbol of hope for millions of people. Father suggested we take your group on a tour of the Earth Kingdom to flush out the rest of the rebels, remember? We’ll find them when we go into town.”
Katara forced herself to calm down, but it was too late, Zuko was reaching for rope. He loosely tied her wrists in front of her and she once again found herself bound to him. He kept her leash in hand as they walked down the streets and while he waited for her to slide into the booth at the restaurant he’d chosen.
The waitress and owner of the café where they’d eaten breakfast had openly expressed their disgust and pity as she lifted both hands to feed herself while Zuko’s free hand allowed him to eat normally. Embarrassed, Zuko untied her hands and changed the rope configuration so that her left hand was free and her right was changed to his wrist.
After their meal he redid the ropes once more. He right hand was stretched across his back and her wrist was secured to his belt loop and he draped his left arm around her. He hoped they mimicked lovers walking together and would be less noticeable but making seem appear to be a couple only served to draw more attention. Unable to discretely purchase what he had come for they meandered through the market aimlessly. Katara attempted to ignore the lewd catcalls tossed about by both genders; the men congratulating Zuko on conquering the Avatar’s Waterbender, the women offering to trade places with her.
Zuko’s attempts to reassure her after the most hurtful remarks only caused those yelling to become louder.
They arrived at what functioned as the town square and Katara that saw Aang and Sokka were indeed alive. They were in stockades on a raised platform. Azula, Mai, Ty Lee and the admiral sat to the right of them beneath a sunshade. She pretended the sun was in her eyes and used the motion to search for familiar faces in the crowd. She saw several, all belonging to crew members of the Ursa, not anyone who would be willing to help them.
She did recognize the town hall building and realize she’d been in this port before, “This is where I stole the Waterbending scroll from the pirates.”
Zuko weakly joked, “Well, at least you aren’t tied to a tree this time.”
She rolled her eyes and retorted, “Too bad there weren’t any pirates nearby to save me from you.”
They walked around another hour and Zuko noticed how much she was sweating. She was wearing one of Kesuk’s dresses, but Fire Nation formal wear was unsuited for activity. He steered her to what passed as the better part of town and bought her two sets of more appropriate clothing. Katara would have water whipped the sales clerk had Zuko not been holding her waterskin when the idiot called her a “lucky girl.”
Dressed in a set of her new clothing she was once again tied to Zuko. They walked back to the open bazaar where he purchased two door locks identical to the ones on the ship, a whetstone, a bracelet and a bottle of perfume for her. She was prepared to pester him into purchasing clothes for Aang and Sokka but he relented as soon as he posed the question.
He shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t mind since it makes you happy.”
They took their purchases back to the ship and Zuko made her keep watch while he changed the locks on the closet and the door to the room. He latched her to his belt loop before they went back into town. Katara was beginning to think she’d never get away from him but finally got a break when he’d untied her to use the restroom. He couldn’t take her in with him nor leave her bound and defenseless in public. He gave her the water skin he’d been carrying reminding her that they still had her brother, the Avatar and the bison. They would be the ones to pay if she disappeared or caused trouble.
Katara quickly left the teashop but not after asking several old men playing Pai Sho if they’d seen an old man and a young blind girl before moving to the market. She informed each person she came across that her name was Sapphire Fire. She and her husband Wang had to come to town with her father-in-law and sister-in-law, to get medicine for her Mother-in-law Ursa. She explained if they saw them to relay the message they’d be tied up longer than expected since the carriage broke. Wu Meng didn’t mind if they waited at her house and had a bit of juice if they didn’t want to blister their feet walking home.
Katara was certain Toph remembered the stories about Makupu village and the codes for boat names and injuries. She hoped that when reaching them Iroh would understand the message meant they were going North of their current location not specifically to Makupu village. She’d spread the word to most of the vendors by the time a furious Zuko caught up to her.
“Why did you leave?” he demanded.
“I needed to buy some herbs and more wrappings,” Katara explained calmly.
“Herbs and wrappings? That couldn’t wait two minutes?” Zuko yelled not caring they were drawing an audience.
Katara screamed right back at him, “No, it couldn’t. Your attempt to make sure I don’t bleed for the next nine months failed Zuko. Thankfully I’ve started my cycle which is a miracle considering how stupid you’ve been. Now unless you want me bleeding all over the clothes you just bought me you’ll help me find some herbs and wrappings!”
Zuko and all of the men in earshot turned a mild shade of green when Katara began yelling about her monthly. Several of the women pointed her to a stall that sold what she said she needed. It was one she’d visited the first time they’d stopped in the port. The woman didn’t bat an eye when Katara picked up contraceptive herbs along with sleeping herbs, painkillers, immune system stimulators, and poison.
Katara found a restaurant with a public restroom and tended to herself. When she came out Zuko hugged her and apologized. He then said was going to take her on a picnic to make up for being so insensitive. She bit the fabric of his shirt to keep from biting her tongue. He’d raped her repeatedly, tied her to him like a recalcitrant puppy but yelling at her for buying supplies for her moon cycle was insensitive? At this rate she would drop dead from dealing with his stupidity before she ever had a chance to kill him.
Arraye: Thank you for the feedback. Zuko is honor bound to uphold the marriage agreement his grandfather made with Mai’s parents. He cannot break it. He could kill her and do less damage to his honor and reputation than he would if he didn’t uphold a promise made by his grandfather.
Katara took part in the signet exchange but doesn’t know there is a difference between her and the women in Azulon’s harem. There are a few hints at the beginning of the story. The first is in chapter 36 after Zuko gives his signet ring to Katara. Mu gives a few others in chapter 39 and the conversation at the beginning of chapter 40 about the secret Zuko is keeping from her. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
