Janine’s Apartment in Brooklyn – Later that night . . .
Janine lay in sated slumber spooned up against Egon, who was still very much awake. He drew lazy circles on her bare thigh with his index finger. He stared at the night sky through her bedroom window. She suddenly sighed and placed her hand over his, halting his caress. “That tickles.”
He blushed, having been totally unaware of his own actions. “I’m sorry. I didn’t intend to wake you.”
She turned to face him. “That’s okay. I can think of a nice way for you to tire me out so I can go back to sleep.” She wiggled her eyebrows at him suggestively. “Up for round two, Dr. Spengler?”
He smiled affectionately. “In a moment. I want to ask you something first.”
She moved to kiss him lightly. “Shoot.”
“Have you ever thought about marriage?”
She frowned in befuddlement. “In general?”
“No. Specifically, have you thought about what it would bke ike if we got married?”
She quirked an eyebrow at him. “Don’t tell me that Peter didn’t show you all those papers I used to practice writing ‘Mrs. Janine Spengler’ on. He told me he gave them to you before we were even dating.”
Egon blushed again. “Yes. Well . . . I remember a few times that I fancied our union too back then, but those were merely daydreams. I wonder have you ever seriously considered this, in all its implications and consequences, since we’ve been seriously involved?”
“Living together? Starting a family? Things like that?” He nodded. She smiled sweetly. “Yes, Egon. All the time.”
He returned her smile. “Good.” He lowered his head to kiss her then positioned himself above her.
