A Long Time

A couple minutes later they came across a strip of woods and slowed down. Nat took off his helmet when they turned off their bikes and parked them for now “We’ll walk em from here.”

Kevin nodded then looked back at Double D “You alright back there?”

Double D squeaked out “Petrified...”

Kevin sighed “Sorry, should’ve warned ya.” He patted Edd’s arms that were around his waist.

Nat sighed “Damn he’s cute… I call taking him back home on my bike.”

Kevin raised an eyebrow “You wish jackass.”

The sea green haired teen chuckled “Whatever Kev. Let’s go.” He stood next to his bike then took ahold of the handles and started to push it into the woods.

Kevin watched him go then looked back at Edd again “Hey, seriously, are you okay?”

Double D finally opened his eyes then said “Define okay…”

Kevin rolled his eyes “Would you like me to carry you over my shoulder or something?”

Edd froze then released Kevin “Th-That is n-not necessary…” He took off the helmet carefully then fixed his hat.

Kevin smirked then shrugged “Suit yourself.” He grabbed his bike handles and pushed the motorcycle into the woods.

Edd looked around then followed the two teens into the woods. After about three minutes, they came across a clearing that looks like it used to be clear more but now was overrun by weeds. DD looked around warily then said “Charming…”

“Hey look Kev!” Nathan waved them over to the center where it was only sand and a rock circle “The old pit is still here!”

“Awesome dude!” Kevin grinned then parked his bike next to Nat’s. He smiled at Nat “Wanna get a fire goin?”

Nat nodded “Sure.”

“You wanna get wood?” Kevin asked.

Nat winked “Already got ya wood right here Kev.” he grabbed his junk and laughed. He noticed Kevin not amused then sighed “Sour puss. Be right back.” He put his hands into his pockets and walked into the nearby woods.

Double D laughed behind his hand “As vulgar as he may be, he is quite amusing.”

Kevin smiled “Yeah, probably one of the reasons I became friends with him.” he looked around the said “Be right back, stay here.” He then went into the opposite direction Nat went. Double D looked around in the dark then got out his phone and turned on the flashlight. A couple second later he heard a strained grunt noise then a dragging sound. He looked to where Kevin had left to and watched in awe as Kevin walked out of the woods with a fair sized log on his shoulder. He walked the log out to near the firepit then dropped it down carefully. He went back in then came back out another moment later with another log and put it opposite to the other one. He grunted when he dropped it then rolled his shoulder “There.” He sat down on one of the logs and started to work his shoulder with his fingers “Haven’t done that in a while...”

Double D bit his lip then said “Here, let me.” He went around behind Kevin then started to work out the tense shoulder muscle.

“Mph…” Kevin moaned softly “Damn… that’s good…” His head dropped down as he softly groaned in relief.

Edd tried not to focus on the obscene sounds Kevin was making under his hands, instead focusing on the tense muscle. “Are you two having sex?” Nathan called out as he walked back to the clearing. At the sight of the two startled teens jumping away from each other, Nat sighed “And you didn’t invite me? Jezz, nice friend you are Kev.” As Edd walked around to the other log, Nat put the sticks he found in a teepee style arrangement then pulled out a ruffled looking newspaper “Found this, we can use it to help start the fire.” He pulled out a lighter then lit the newspaper and put it into the teepee. After poking it with a stick for a few seconds, the sticks cause flame and a nice sized fire roared to life. “Ah, there we go. Now we’re flamin like the gays.” he chuckled at his own bad pun then sat next to Kevin “So, what’ve I missed since i’ve been gone?”

As Kevin and Nathan started to catch up on life, Edd looked up at the clear night sky. “Serpens Caput… Draco… Cepheus… Pegasus… Capricornus…”

Double D continued to point out each constellation he could make out to himself, unaware that the two teens had stopped talking and were looking at him. Nat looked over at Kevin and noticed that the jock hadn’t taken his eyes off Double D, he even had a small smile on his lips. Nat chuckled then murmured “You got it bad dude.”

Kevin blinked out of his trance and looked at Nat “What?”

Nat nodded to Double D who was illuminated by the softly crackling fire “You and him. You like the kid.”

Kevin blushed “I don’t know…”

Nat waved a hand “Come on, from the things I’ve noticed, he likes ya too. Somethin is goin on between you two, it was only a matter of time before my gay ass figured it out.”

Kevin sighed then looked up “I dunno man… I mean… He’s cute and all but… We’re so... different.” he looked at Nathan “You know?”

Nat shrugged “And? Why does that matter? It’s actually pretty cute when you think about it.” he then mumbled “Also, if you don’t make a move on him soon, I call dibs…” he earned a glare from Kevin to which Nat shrugged “Telling you how it is. I’m serious.” he looked back at Edd then said “If you want though, I know you’re not the most romantically inclined person… Maybe I could offer my assistance with asking the cutie out?”

Kevin raised an eyebrow at Nathan “You? You’re idea of romance is if some hot guy says yes to being a switch during sex.”

Nathan shrugged “Guilty as charged. But seriously, I could give you some idea’s that’ll have Double Delicious over there wrapped around your waist. You know anything about him I could use as an idea?”

Kevin looked back at Double D who was still looking up at the sky wide wide eyes and mumbling off the constellations, and the star names. “He’s smart. I mean, really smart. He loves everything that has to do with science, especially astronomy and biology.” Kevin titled his head as he looked fondly at Double D “He loves learning about new things from what I’ve seen. He loves a lot of different types of music, even stuff like I like.” he chuckled “he has a Skillet poster in his room but I’ve heard him listen to older music, even stuff like The Police.” he smirked and looked at Nat “At the party he had, I heard him singing along to ‘Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time’ by Panic! At The Disco.”

Nathan laughed “Really? He knows that?”

“Dude,” he put a hand on Nat’s shoulder “He was singing the cocaine and gasoline part.”

Nathan eyed Double D “Man… What I would give to see him letting loose… Preferably under me naked but i’m not too picky.”

Kevin slapped the other teen upside the head “Hey, hands off the dweeb.”

Nat smirked “Whatever dude, can’t stop me from lookin though.”

Kevin sighed then poked the fire with a stick and looked across the fire at DD. Double D heard the crackle of the shifting logs and looked across the fire. DD locked eyes with Kevin then smiled warmly at the jock. Kevin felt his cheeks burn up and he looked back at Nat who was wiggling his eyebrows at him “Shut up…”

Nat grinned “I didn’t say anything.” he elbowed Kevin and nodded to Double D “Go over there. Ima go get some more wood.” he got up then winked at Double D “Be right back babycakes.” he then turned around and walked into the woods, using his phone light to light up his path.

Kevin chuckled then got up and sat next to Edd. The sat in silence for a moment then Kevin said “So… What do you think? Of Nat I mean.”

Edd smiled as he looked up “He could take some getting used to but I kind of like him.” he giggled into his hand “You definitely are not going to get bored around him.”

Kevin privately thought that how Edd laughed was really cute and his cheeks blushed because of it. Luckily the light from the fire hid his blush. “Y-Yeah. I guess.” He looked back at the fire and rubbed his thumbs together. A harsh breeze blew by and Double D shivered then rubbed his arms. Kevin saw this as a chance to get closer so he put his arm around Double D’s waist then pulled him to his side and started to rub his outer arm.

“Um…” Edd blushed heavily since he was pressed up against the jock’s muscled chest.

Kevin looked away “You looked cold.”

Double D looked at the free hand on Kevin’s knee and saw that it was clenched and slightly shaking. He chuckled then nuzzled into Kevin’s chest “Thank you then.” Kevin’s heart thumped loudly in his chest and Edd heard every thump. Double D found the rhythm quite soothing and he slowly started to close his eyes and relax.

Kevin was looking up at the stars when he murmured “Beautiful out tonight… Isn’t it D?” He looked down but saw that Double D’s eyes were closed and his breathing mellowed out. Kevin smiled softly then gently pulled Edd closer, blushing when the teen snuggled into his chest more. Kevin tucked a stray strand of hair back into the smaller teen’s hat then murmured “Beautiful…” He blinked at what he just said then looked away, embarrassed at himself.

“You sure you guys aren’t together already?”

Kevin looked up and saw Nat with some sticks in his hands. The other teen knelt down in front of the fire and poked some sticks into the fire then stood near Kevin. Kevin chuckled softly “No, we’re not. He only confessed to me the other day that he liked me.” he blinked “I think it actually might have been yesterday… I can’t remember.”

Nat nodded “Okay, I see… Yeah no I don’t.” he sat down on the ground then put his hands behind him to prop himself up “You chose a good one though from the look and sound of it. Gives you a break from your homelife bullshit. Is that drunkard still doing that bullshit to you?”

Kevin looked down at Edd then said softly “Yes…”

Nathan sighed “Damn… Sorry to hear that man.”

Kevin stroked Edd’s cheek softly then said “He helped me.” Kevin looked over at Nat “After the old man found out I went out, because he was drunk off his ass more than usual, he beat the crap out of my back.” He looked back down at DD “Edd helped me… I haven’t had someone help me since you left all those years ago Nat.”

Nat furrowed his brow “You didn’t let any of your friends in on what’s been going on? Not one?”

Kevin shook his head “No. Double D would be the first since you.”

“Why him?” Nathan asked curiously.

Kevin looked up then said “I dunno. It just sort of happened. He even patched me up.”

Nat widened his eyes “Holy shit… How bad did the old guy get this time?”

Kevin said stoically “It’s going to scar.”

Nat looked down “Fuck…” he clenched his fists “Why the fuck do you still live with that fucker? I can’t even remember a time when you didn’t have some sort of mark from him.”

Kevin shrugged “I really don’t know. Somewhere to live I guess. Where am I going to go? The streets? The orphanage?” he looked over at Nat “Besides, as soon as I’m eighteen, I’m out of that place.”

Nat leaned over and put a hand on Kevin’s knee “Come live with me man, I’m serious. From the sound of it, he went too far this time. And don’t think I didn’t notice the black eye.”

Kevin sighed and shook his head “I’ll be fine. Whatever he does to me will heal over time. Whether it scars of not doesn’t bother me.”

“You know damn well the mental scars don’t go away Kevin.” Nathan said pointedly.

“You think I don’t know that Nat?” Kevin growled then said “What do you want me to say? That I’m damaged goods and not good enough for Double D? That I’m probably going to kill myself? That I’m going to Hell for trying to kill myself?” His eyes widened then he looked away.

Nat sat up fully “Shit Hell man!” he hissed as to not wake Double D “Suicide? Are you kidding me?”

Kevin narrowed his eyes at Nat “What of it? Obviously I didn’t go through with it because I’m still here. That’s all that should matter.”

Nat huffed angrily “Fucking Hell Kevin! You should have called me! Something!”

Double D mumbled in his sleep and both teens shut up instantly. When it seemed that the small teen went back to sleep, Kevin looked at DD with soft eyes “He’s changed something Nat. He really has and I don’t know how to deal with it. I can’t remember feeling this… loved or happy in such a long time...”

Nat’s facial expression softened as he looked at Kevin’s face. Nat studied his old friends face for a moment then said “I’ll help you.”

Kevin looked at him “What?”

Nathan’s face was serious as he said “I won’t hit on him with the intent of getting with him. I’ll help you ask him out. I haven’t seen you look like this before Kev, and I hope you don’t stop looking like that.”

Kevin smiled gratefully at Nathan “Thanks man.”

Nat smiled crookedly “My pleasure bro.” He leaned back onto his back and put his hands behind his head as he looked up at the clear sky.

Kevin looked back down at Edd then leaned down and softly kissed DD’s forehead. He looked back up at the sky then let out a content sigh.

It was close to three in the morning when Nat and Kevin decided it was time to turn in and get some sleep. Kevin looked down at Double D who had migrated down so his head was nested in his lap. The jock gently shook the small teen “Hey, Double D, wake up.”

DD grumbled but slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes “Oh… Sorry for…” he yawned widely then continued “Sleeping on you…” he sniffed then looked at Kevin sleepily.

Kevin chuckled as he waved a hand “It’s fine. We’re gonna leave so Ima need you awake enough to hold onto me and not fall off.”

Nat finished kicking sand over the fire then grinned at the two of them “You could just tie him to you. I know a few rope techniques that would tie him pretty good to ya.”

Kevin rolled his eyes and Double D paled “Th-That will not be necessary I assure you.”

Nat shrugged “Just offering.” he then yawned and stretched “Mph… Let’s get outta here. Maybe when it’s not a school night we could actually camp out like we used too.”

Kevin smiled “Sounds like a plan.” he stood up then held out a hand for Double D.

DD smiled sleepily at at Kevin “Thank you.” He took Kevin’s hand and the jock help him up.

Kevin and Nat got their motorcycles then pushed them out to the road. Nat parked his then went up to Kevin. He held out his hand then said “Have a good night bro.”

Kevin took his hand and they connected their forearms together “It was great seeing you again Nat. Will I see you at school tomorrow?”

Nat smiled crookedly “Yeah, you will.” They shook each other’s hands heartily then Nathan went over to Double D. He grinned at him then ruffled his hat “See ya around Double D.” He turned around and hopped in his bike then put on his helmet. Nat looked over at Kevin and DD when he revved up his bike loudly then yelled “YEEHAW!” He was on the bike without his rear touching the seat then took off down the street.

Kevin and DD chuckled at Nat’s antics then Kevin handed Double D his helmet “Here.”

DD took the helmet then put it on “Thank you.” When Kevin hopped onto his bike then secured his hat, Edd got onto the bike then hugged Kevin as they prepared to take off.

Kevin smiled at the feeling of DD’s arms around him then he started up his bike and took off at a fair speed down the street. When they got back to Edd’s house, Double D looked a bit less traumatized about riding on a bike than the last few times. DD got off the bike and handed Kevin his helmet “Wait here.” DD then went into his house. A few moments later, Edd’s garage opened and DD was standing in the garage entrance “You may leave you bike in here overnight...” he rubbed his arm “If you wish to I mean.”

Kevin smiled “Sure. Beats leaving it in the elements.” He grunted slightly as he pushed his bike into the garage. The two of them went into the house then Double D’s room. Kevin smiled crookedly at Double D “I’ll go change in the bathroom.” He grabbed his bag then went into the bathroom and closed the door.

Double D quickly got dressed then got into bed with a tired sigh. He rolled onto his side then curled up into a ball. He heard Kevin get out of the bathroom and he rolled over onto his back.

Kevin had walked out into Edd’s room wearing his usual nightwear; boxers and that’s it. The jock dropped his bag on the floor near Edd’s desk then looked over at Double D “Um… Can I still…?”

DD chuckled “Yes, you may sleep in my bed with me.”

Kevin grinned crookedly “Sweet.” Kevin launched himself onto double D’s bed, practically landing on top of Edd. He looked down at Edd and grinned “Hi.”

Double D blushed “Hello.”

Kevin’s eyes roamed Edd’s face then he said “It’s almost four in the morning, I’m pretty sure no phone is going to interrupt us. Can I kiss you? I won’t go beyond that and some petting.”

Double D’s blush deepened and he averted his eyes to the left. He bit his lower lip in thought then looked back at Kevin “O-Okay…”

Kevin smiled “Cool. Er… Ima shut up now before I ruin it…” he facepalmed and groaned “God damn it…”

DD giggled then gently removed Kevin’s hand from his face “I think it’s rather cute.” the smaller teen smiled sheepishly.

Kevin huffed and rolled his eyes “Yeah, because what I want to hear is that I’m cu-” His eyes widened when Double D suddenly leaned up and kissed him. His eyes were still wide when Edd leaned back down and looked away blushing. Kevin blinked repeatedly then said slowly “Well… Wasn’t expecting that…”

Double D looked back at Kevin with a shy smile “Forgive me… You sounded like you were going to ramble.”

Kevin smirked “Whatever dork.” He leaned down and ran his left hand along Edd’s right arm as he leaned down and kissed DD gently. As they slowly kissed, Edd wrapped his arms around Kevin’s neck while Kevin slotted himself between Double D’s legs. DD moaned softly into the kiss as Kevin put a hand behind his head, his other hand going along his arm, shoulder and neck. When they parted for air, Kevin breathed out “Damn… You don’t know what you do to me D…”

Double D looked up at him with hazy eyes “And you, I… Kevin...” He pulled Kevin back down and they continued to make out.

After about four minutes of locking lips and tongue wrestling, Kevin rolled them over so Edd was laying on his front. He ran a hand down Edd’s back then murmured “G’night D.”

Edd’s face was painted with red from their makeout session as he softly stroked Kevin’s cheek “Good night Kevin…” He then cuddled against Kevin’s bare chest, falling back asleep to the sound and feel of his body’s natural rhythm. The jock slowly rubbed DD’s back before wrapped his arms around him and closing his eyes to go to sleep.
