I was so emotionally drained by this point I could barely keep my eyes open as I drove through traffic towards the apartment that Leni and Lori shared, pulling into the parking lot I gave off a yawn and rubbed my eyes. “Seriously a couple hours of driving around is enough to put me in the mood for a nap, not even Pop-Pop acts that old.” I said leaning his head back. “Guess that’s what happens when you only go out once a month for groceries and spend the rest of the time, drinking, or drawing.” Speaking of drawing I hadn’t drawn anything for my comics in the past week or so since Clyde came back into my life. “Suppose that’s for the best only thing worse than being depressed is drawing depressing comics. No offense to those who enjoy that genre or anything like Lucy.
I’m sure she’d like this comic, though it is a bit mature for her age, then again Lucy’s always been an old soul. Maybe I’ll text the website name and let her check it out for herself and see what she thinks.” Lincoln unhooked his seatbelt and got out of his car shutting the door as he walked up to the second floor knocking on door 11. He smirked at that. “Fate or coincidence you decide.” I said aloud to the air. I’d forgotten how good it was to do this just to voice my thoughts to no one in particular my sisters always found it weird, but it helped me vent. I’d only stopped doing it after our parents died allowing all my negativity to be turned inward.
Shaking my head I knocked on the door immediately hearing a large bang as something fell. “Must’ve startled her.” I said smiling knowing how easily Leni started. “Like, I’m coming.” I heard her voice though the door before it opened showing my younger sister Leni in a pair of overalls reminiscent of Lana’s, heavily dusted with wood chips they even managed to be caught in her light blonde hair. “L-Linky!?” I tore myself away from examining her to focus on her eyes which were on brimming with tears. “Leni I-.” Before I could speak Leni reached out for me as if in a hug before retracting her arm and slamming the door.
To say I was at a loss for words would be an understatement I was completely floored. I expected this reaction from Lori, or Luna, and Luan, but not Leni. “Guess I was kidding myself to think you wouldn’t be mad too.” I said running my hand through my hair. “I’m, like not mad Linky I’m really not, but I like, shouldn’t touch you and if I see you I’ll want to like, touch you so I have to keep the door shut.” She spoke through the door. Leni bit the nail of her thumb on the other side of the door while wrapping her other arm around her waist. She really wanted to open the door and give Lincoln a big hug, but she remembered what Lori said earlier that day.

Leni sat in her studio with a large block of wood in front of her deciding to where to make her first strike. She’d been commissioned to make a carving of a little girl, a couple had recently lost their daughter in an accident and wanted a wooden statue made of her to set in their backyard. After Leni had finished crying she’d immediately gotten to work. Staring at the photo she’d been emailed she was set to make her first strike when her phone rang. “Oh poo.” She spoke setting down her chisel and mallet to grab her phone seeing it was Lori. “Hi Lori!” She said excitedly always happy to speak with any of her family. “Leni umm listen I just saw Lincoln and I think he might come see you sometime today.” Before Lori could speak more Leni dropped her phone on the carpet and gave off a loud squeal of joy as she hopped in placed before looking down at her phone seeing Lori was still there.
“Like, sorry Lori I got excited. That’s like, such good news do you think Linky is ready to take us back so we can be husband and wives again?” She could hear Lori sigh over the phone. “I don’t know Leni let’s just take this slow we don’t want to rush things and have Lincoln regress so when you see him try to keep you distance and let him come to you alright so no touching or anything like that unless he does it first.”
Leni visibly wilted at her older sister’s instructions, but nodded and then realized that Lori couldn’t see her do that spoke up. “Like ok Lori I promise no touching.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Leni it’s ok you can open the door. I don’t mind if you touch me I promise.” I said trying to make things easier for both of us. It was hard to hear her through the door on my side so I could only assume it was the same for her, and the things I had to say to her I’d rather not say on her doorstep. “But Lincoln I’m like, trying to be a good girl here and it’d be really hard if I let you in the house.” She wasn’t kidding the glimpse she’d gotten of Lincoln when she opened the door set her girl parts on fire she rubbed her thighs together as she sat on the floor her back against the door. I sighed scratching my head trying to think of how I could make this better for both of us and then I slapped my hand to my forehead. It was easy. “Leni I have an idea, just keep your eyes closed and then you won’t see me and won’t have to be a bad girl.”
Leni jumped up from her seat on the floor smiling. “Linky that is like, so smart!” She said closing her eyes and then felt around for the doorknob and opened. I exhaled in relief glad we could make some headway as I slipped in past her closing the door for her, as Leni stumbled blindly into the living room bumping into several pieces of furniture before falling onto the couch. I took a seat at the opposite end of the couch sitting there in silence while Leni squeezed her eyes tightly shut. “Leni I’m really sorry for everything these past three years. I really fucked up.” I hunched forward reliving the past three years and what I’d done to my family. It was a heavy burden it felt like it was crushing me.
I felt Leni’s hand on my shoulder so warm and soft like goose down pillow. “I forgive you Lincoln, well I like, never blamed you. I still love you as a brother, and like more than a brother.” I felt my face heat up as I stared at Leni. Her face looked so calm and peaceful and somehow it made this burden on me seem feather light. “Oh shoot I like, touched you Lori is going to be so mad!” Leni said pulling her hand back, but I reached forward and grabbed it holding it to my chest. “Let me deal with Lori, you’re not a bad girl Leni you’re the best you’ve always been so innocent and gentle you could never do anything bad.” I told her cupping her face in my hands. “Open your eyes Leni.” She seemed conflicted. “But Lincoln, Lori said-.” I cut her off. “Leni listen to your big brother and open your eyes.” That seemed to do it for her she opened her brilliant green eyes and stared into my blue ones.
“I don’t know how we’ll make this work Leni, but you’ve made one thing clear to me I want you, Luna, Luan, and Lori as much as I did then. I tried to force it away, but I can’t change my feelings. I love you as my sisters and more, and I’ll do anything to make sure we can stay this way.” I said before leaning forward and kissing her running my hands through her hair as pulled her against my chest. Leni melted in Lincoln’s grasp she’d missed this him holding her like there was no one else in the world but her. I pulled back looking into Leni’s glazed over eyes. I wanted to take her right then and there, but no I couldn’t I needed to get things back in order first I would only make love to Leni and the others under our own roof. I stood up looking at Leni as she stared off into space. I chuckled kissing he forehead. “I’ll be back Leni promise.” I said walking out of her apartment locking and closing the door as I headed to my car and then made my way to Clyde’s house. I knocked on the door to be greeted by Harold McBride. “Lincoln how are you my boy it’s good to see you out and about again. “Thanks Mr. McBride it’s good to see you too, is Clyde around?” Harold nodded. “He’s in the guest bedroom what he calls his “office” for the time being. “Thank you sir.” I said walking past him down the hall and to the left seeing a piece of paper on the door with the words. “Clyde McBride Psy. D”
I knocked on the door hearing papers shuffle as Clyde opened it. He was wearing a T-Shirt and sweatpants hardly what one wants to see their Psychologist in, but he’s free. “Lincoln I wasn’t expecting you until later.” I smiled. “I hope you can fit me in for a quick session Doc, I know business must be booming.” Clyde chuckled. “Of course Mr. Loud I have a bit of an opening between nothing, and nobody.” I walked in chuckling. “Luan would have like that one.” I said as I sat on the bed Clyde taking the computer chair. I noticed his framed Doctorate sitting on top of laptop. “Haven’t found a place to hang it yet?” I asked.
Clyde shrugged. “You got me there sometimes I can’t believe I even have it though.” He said rubbing his mustache. “Anyway tell me about your day with your sisters, and what you found out about yourself.” I took a deep breath and then regaled Clyde with the various meetings with my younger siblings. How Lynn and the others ripped me a new on and how Lily stood up for me. “To be expected.” Was Clyde’s response. I went into great detail wanting to be thorough on my emotional meeting with Lori, Luna, Luan and Leni. Kowing they would probably be the focus of this session. “Oh yeah I also saw Zach at Lori’s work he’s an accountant I think I didn’t get a chance to ask.” Clyde nodded. “I see that’s good establishing old relationship I also haven’t spoken with any of the others in sometime. I think Zach has a good idea of the four of us hanging out soon after we’ve gotten you a proper foundation.”
I nodded at that excited about seeing the guys again. “So after all this what did you learn about yourself Lincoln, has anything become clearer to you?” Clyde asked. I looked nodding. “I learned that even though I’m the central pillar of my family it’s not necessary for me to take everything on my own, just because I’m the central pillar doesn’t mean I’m the only pillar.” Clyde smiled writing something in his notepad. “Exactly you have a support system Lincoln a much larger one than most, you should use it.” Clyde was really good at this his career choice was spot on. “I also know what I want. I want my sisters back all of them, and I want Lori, Luna, Leni, and Luan as more than my sisters. I know that sounds greedy, but I want to make it work.”
I looked to Clyde wondering if he’d be grossed out, or disappointed in my choice, but his face was impassive as always no judgement from him. “Well if that’s what you want Lincoln you know what you’re going to have to do.” I swallowed at the way Clyde’s voice was completely steady almost hollow. “I think I know what you mean Clyde.” I said licking my suddenly dry lips. “Well to be clear so there’s no confusion. If you plan to pursue this path then you have to tell your younger sisters what’s going on. You can’t go back to a being together in secret everything has to be out in the open.” I sighed running my hand through my hair and nodded. “I know Clyde it’s going to be hard though.” I said standing up and heading for the door. “Take some time Lincoln this is a marathon not a sprint for now just focus on getting things back together. Continue talking with Lori and the other see what they think and what they want to do, after all they have a say in this too.” I opened the door feeling that familiar weight settle back on my shoulders as I waved bye to Clyde walking towards the front door. “Goodbye Mr. McBride.” Harold turned to Lincoln where he was sitting on the couch. “Bye Lincoln don’t be a stranger now.” I smiled at him as I left through the door shutting it behind me as I got in my car for the final time and headed to my house letting myself in I collapsed onto the couch. I was exhausted I couldn’t even be bothered to take my shoes off as I fell asleep.
