(---) A few, highly awkward days later and Dread Wing had had enough. So one morning he approached Peak's room only to stop right outside the cloth door. What exactly could he say to fix this situation? His intentions had been revealed far sooner than he'd wanted them to be and he didn't know how Peak was taking the situation. No, that was a lie. He knew exactly how, or at least the most likely scenario, regarding what his human was thinking of all this. But he didn't have to say anything, for Peak moved the cloth aside himself and looked Dread straight in the eye, “I want out.” Shoving down his disappointment, Dread Wing made himself say, “Alright. Take off the collar and I'll take you outside of Warnado.” Peak blinked, suddenly confused, “What?” Dread growled, “You heard what I said.” The human shook his head, realization slowly coming into his blue eyes, “No, I meant I want out of the room! But....you'd really let me go, just like that?” Dread Wing nodded, “Yes, I would, if that is truly your decision. Do you want to leave Warnado or stay here?” Peak hesitated, clearly unsure of his own answer. Though there was still some suspicion in his eyes, the teen finally said, “No, I'll stay, but you've got to let me out of this room! I'm going crazy being cooped up in here all the time!” The mutant nodded again, not certain if he managed to fully mask the relief he felt at hearing Peak saying he'd stay, “Fine. Give me some time and I'll find something suitable for you to wear.” Now it was Peak's turn to frown, “Why can't I go out in what I'm wearing now?” Dread shook his head, “For one, if your siblings attack, I don't want them to easily find you. Two, our deal isn't well known in Warnado, to keep both it and your location secret, so there's the risk of a dark draman hurting you or revealing the deal or you to the Dragon Flyz, either accidentally or on purpose. Third, either you wear the costume or you stay in here, understand?” The teenager gave him a mild glare but accepted, “Fine. How soon can it be ready?” The king sighed, “I did say to give me some time. If you're going out in a costume, I want it to be a suitable one.” Peak shrugged, but a thought seemed to occur to him, “Hey Dread, don't you have any special clothing?” Dread frowned again, “What do you mean?” Without shame, Peak motioned to where Dread's actual closet was, “Well, I poked through there but everything's basically a copy of the armor you're wearing now. I thought kings were supposed to have regalia and stuff like that.” Dread Wing threw his head back with a laugh, “And attach the power of my throne to an object? I think not.” He lowered his head a little, to better look Peak in the eyes, “I am the King of Warnado and as such that power rests in me alone, not in some trinket that would inspire others to steal my position.” Turning on his heel, Dread made to leave the room, calling back over his shoulder, “As I said, just give me some time and I'll have a costume for you shortly.” There were other reasons why he needed time, not just for vanity purposes. He'd need to get a costume made with that odd, special metal that Gangryn had discovered, the one that blocked the link between human and dragon.
