If there was one thing on Gaston Schwenk side, it was he knew the rooftops as well as he knew the streets down below. He harboured a suspicion that Aurelio was also a proficient climber, but he was no leopard or cheetah, Aurelio was a lion and he was a tank too. If he tried skipping across the roofs he’d end up spoiling some lovers night in bed! The snow starting falling heavily and there was a decrease in visibility. Schwenk also knew that beneath the new snow there was old ice…..a dangerous combination. He stopped and looked down, Aurelio was nowhere to be seen. He headed towards the docks when his left foot slipped. He instinctively grasped onto whatever he could as he fell. It slowed his fall and he hit the snowdrift at a sub-lethal speed. He groaned and he was dazed as he tried to stand. He heard a roar and he knew he had to move again. Through the developing blizzard he saw a wooden bridge, he stumbled towards it. With a wooden clumping he strode along the bridge.
“Schwenk!!!” The human turned. Twenty yards from the bridge was Aurelio. “Give up now………I’ll kill you quick!” he snorted and stalked towards him. Schwenk ran along the bridge. Only, it wasn’t a bridge. The snow had obscured the end of the jetty. Schwenk skidded just as he was about to enter the black waters. Lumps of ice pounded the jetty legs and the whole structure juddered. He turned to face Aurelio. The lion had reached the edge of the jetty, looked down and stepped back. “Come here, human……I’ll even try mercy……” he growled. Schwenk frowned. “No…….” came the simple response. “If I come to you……..you’ll take forever to die……you….you meatsack……Now get here!” he rumbled louder in the snow. “No…..something tells me that you don’t like water…..jettys or……nah…it’s water. Big lion boy is scared…..” he goaded. “Piece of shit…….” He growled and again he stepped onto the wood. “Hey…..it’d be quicker if we got your sister to get me….or maybe your granny!” With a blood curdling roar the lion ran along the jetty……..the whole structure swayed. “Oh shit……” Schwenk hit the deck and held on. With a creak and a groan the jetty gave out.The momentum took Aurelio and pitched him over Schwenk and onto the end of the jetty that had broken off. Schwenk looked up with the might splash and roar. The last three yards of the jetty now dangled in the current of the river. Aurelio was holding onto the last yard with his claws and all his strength. He was in the water up to his chest.
“P-p-please…help…..me……” his teeth chattered. “I-I-I…..I can’t….sw-sw-swim…….” Without a thought Schwenk looked around. At the end of the jetty was a mooring rope. “I’ve got to go back and get a rope on the dock……” “Don’t leave me!!!” he growled with all his venom. “I have to……..I’ll help you……..” “Noooooo…….” Schwenk walked back as carefully as possible and grabbed the rope. Again he tottered back to the end of the jetty. Aurelio was not looking good and was losing consciousness. “Stay with me you great big jerk!” Schwenk shouted. “Mmm…..uhhh…….” his head lolled, he was dangerously close to dipping his muzzle underwater. Schwenk layed on his belly and dipped his hands into the water to loop the rope around his waist. The water was so cold it made Schwenk think his arms were on fire. “Shit…..” he grimaced. He knew if places were traded he’d already be dead in the water. He took the loose end and walked to the start of the jetty. He tied the rope around a granite bollard and went back to Aurelio. “Hey! Stay with me……..” with a huge amount of reluctance he climbed on Aurelio’s back and lowered himself into the water. “Fuuuuuckk……..” he yelled. He moved his head under Aurelio’s right arm pit and tried to loosen the claws that were embedded into the wood. They wouldn’t budge. “Shit Aurelio……..you’ve got to let go…..” “Noooooo……..can’t……swim……….” “If you don’t….we’ll….b-b-b…oth die……Let go!!!” “No……NO!!!!” “Greeeat…….” Schwenk sighed and, with all his strength headbutted the back of the lions head. It was enough to knock out the lion, his claws instinctively retracted and, suddenly he was underwater with Aurelio on top of him. After what seemed like a lifetime underwater he broke the surface and started pulling on their lifeline. Another five minutes later he pulled himself onto the shore and he was just about able to keep the lion’s head above water. He was too weak to pull him out of the water. “HELP!!!!” he roared. “HEEEEEELP!!!!!!” “What the fuck??” came a voice. “YOU….you tried to drown him…..you arsehole!” Lani stomped her boot into Schwenk face. He was out like a sack of shit! While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
