Motor Master was pissed. So pissed off that he didn’t care who he would run across! If they were a freagin’ Seeker, they’d better watch out! Because it was the lack of air support that had cost the Stunticons that last mission. The powerful black mech hated losing to the pathetic Autobots.. And the fact that they could’ve so easily won it with just a little punctuality on the part of the air support – just irked him to no end!
Yes, if he caught sight of a Seeker, he was going to rip the very wings off the bastard! It didn’t matter if the slogger had even been involved with the mission. They were all just light-weight, arrogant, pieces of slag! He’d teach them a thing or two about fraggin’ over the ground unit. Damn right he’d teach them!
Coming round a sharp corner in the tight corridor, the enraged mech basically ran into a Seeker. His actions were automatic. Grabbing the flier by their sensitive wing, he spun in a blur and smashed them against the far wall. Without even a second thought, he went after the silver-tipped Seeker. Not caring that she wasn’t even a Decepticon. All his meta saw were the wings.. The wings of a freagin’ Seeker who’d cost him a battle!
Caught by complete surprise, Hunter flew threw the air and crashed heavily against the wall. The sickening thud of carbide against metal echoed through the complex. Cursing in surprise, she staggered to her thrusters and faced the enraged ground mech stalking towards her. “What the frag?!?” she growled. Her optics narrowed as they swirled to a solid crimson. “You dare mess with me Motor Master?!” she snarled as she spread her thrusters apart in a square stance as she readied herself for a fight. She hoped that her bluff and reputation would work, for she was built for sneak attack and stealth – not for facing heavier built ground mechs in hand-to-hand combat. But like her sire, Armada Starscream, she wouldn’t back down. Even if she knew she faced almost certain defeat.
Realizing only then that it had been the bounty hunter he’d attacked, Motor Master shrugged off her implied threat. He didn’t give a damn about anyone’s reputation. In fact, it’d be most satisfying to kick the free lancer’s afterburners. Yes, this would be most satisfying.. “Go frag yourself, you no good merc!” he growled as he lunged at her.
Mirage stepped back into the shadows as he watched Hunter and Motor Master go at it. He’d been as surprised as she at the unexpected attack, but what surprised him even more was the ease at which the ground mech was keeping the upper hand. Hunter’d always had the reputation of being invincible. He’d heard the Decepticons griping about her ‘perfect record’ for many cycles. But here she was, barely holding off one pissed off ground mech.
Granted, Motor Master wasn’t exactly an easy opponent by any means. With his mass and strength equal to Prime’s, and heavy shielding on top of that – no Autobot wanted to meet him in a dark alley. But Hunter was much more technologically advanced wasn’t she? Far superior to any Seeker built in their dimension. But then Mirage realized something.. Something very, very important.. Hunter was built for air superiority only.. Built to traverse long distances, attack without warning, and then disappear into the sky. She was not built to handle ground mechs of equal size in hand-to-hand. She was too light weight to match them. His optics widened with the realization of her imperfections.
Sliding to the side as the pair crashed down in a blur of fists and curses, Mirage wondered if he should help his ‘bond mate’. After all, he’d given her his oath. He considered that idea, but then his oath had been merely to obey her – right? And so far, she hadn’t explicitly ordered him to get involved in this fight. So, with a shrug he decided to slink further back from the chaos. If she got mad at him for not coming to her aid, he’d just say that he believed she’d get mad if he had. After all, that would make it seem like she couldn’t handle a single con on her own – right?
So engrossed in watching Hunter get her aft stomped, Mirage bumped into another mech. He glanced over his shoulder and was shocked to lock optics with Swindle. His hydraulic pressure shot up as he tensed, wondering if the con would get angry. But instead, Swindle got a devious gleam in his red optics as he saw what was going on down the hall.
Putting his hand on Mirage’s shoulder armor, the Combaticon whispered in his audio. “Hey Shado, give you 4-to-1 on Motor Master. You in?” the greedy mech asked.
At first Mirage was confused, but then he realized that the greedy con just thought of him as ‘Shado’. As just another mercenary for hire - In a sense, almost an ‘equal’… He debated for an astrosecond; then decided that he’d better fit in. Pulling out the few measly credits that Hunter had tossed to him, he handed them to Swindle with a dismissive shrug. As he turned his optics back to the fist fight, he couldn’t help but smirk. It felt good to see her getting a little bit of her own medicine.
Counting up the bet, Swindle snickered. “You are going to so lose this one Shado,” he whispered. Before Mirage could turn and respond, they both darted to the side as Hunter was thrown past them. In sick fascination, both smaller mechs turned and watched as Motor Master strode up to her as she was struggling back to her thrusters, and proceeded to smash her back down to the ground by stomping his foot on her back.
“Ewww that’s gotta hurt,” Swindle snickered quietly behind his hand to Mirage. He was enjoying this show. It was better than when Onslaught and Motor Master got into it!
Mirage nodded his head in agreement. Still feeling a tad guilty that he wasn’t running to her ‘rescue’, but for some reason he just didn’t want to. He watched as Motor Master picked up the femme again and tossed her back down the hall. She hit the floor and slid several meters before she stopped. Snarling, she staggered to her thrusters and grabbed her tailfins. He wondered just what in Primus’ name she was going to do with those fins, when suddenly they split off from her lower legs, flipped out, then lit up in bright flames of energy. “What the hell?” he couldn’t help mumble to Swindle. They’d never seen the likes of those weapons in this dimension.
“Bitch is full of tricks, ain’t she?” Swindle snickered deviously. He wouldn’t mind seeing Motor Master shredded to pieces either… In fact, he really didn’t care which one won in the end. A good fight was a good fight. Though he would hate to hand those creds back to Shado if the femme won…
Not fazed in the least by the strange weapons, Motor Master charged her. His shields held as he brought his arm down on top of her locked blades. Briefly, they looked like statues as they stood transfixed in that pose. But then the ground mech’s greater strength and weight won out and his fist came crashing down on her helm… She collapsed in a heap on the metal floor.
“You lose,” Swindle smirked to Shado as Motor Master strolled by them.
“Yep, sure did,” Mirage agreed. He still found it highly disconcerting to be talking to a con who had once raped him many times – as if he was an equal. But it was obvious that Swindle didn’t recognize him, or if he did, he didn’t care.
Swindle looked at Shado, he kind’ve liked this merc. And from the amount of ‘concern’ the mech was showing for his ‘partner’ – he was obviously a brother in spark to Swindle. Self centered and not caring the least if his partner was beat up. Yes, he could get too really like this mech! Putting his arm across Shado’s shoulder armor, Swindle grinned. “Hey, you want a little energon. I know a killer bar…” he asked him.
Without even a second glance at Hunter, Mirage nodded and followed Swindle. She HAD taught him to feel no emotion – hadn’t she?
------
“Where the frag were you?!?” Hunter shrieked as he entered the bridge. She sat in the pilot’s station, wiping the energon off her air frame. Truly, she looked the wreck, her normally beautiful face somewhat swollen and battered.
Figuring he’d get a beating either way he answered the question, Mirage figured he’d emulate Swindle on this one. Shrugging dismissively, he sat down at the communications console next to her. “I was low on energy, so I went with Swindle to replenish my systems,” he stated.
She glared at him, too weak from the beating she’d just taken to discipline him right now. “You piece of selfish slag, why the hell didn’t you help me?” she growled as she wrung the towel out and began to work on her other side.
Without a trace of emotion, Mirage answered her, “Because you didn’t order me to.”
