Pain was what had awakened her, a dull throbbing beat just nd hnd her eyes, the aftermath of being hit by a medium strength stun beam. She let a low moan as she struggled not to pass out again. "Adora! You're awake!" A familiar voice spoke her name, relief evident in it's tone. "Uh....Glimmer?" Adora's eyelid fluttered open, seeing the young princess peering down at her anxiously.
"You've been out cold for hours." Glimmer said, nervous fingers playing with the blonde's hair. "We thought you were never going to wake up."
"We?" questioned Adora, her memory still fuzzy on what had happened prior to her blacking out.
"Bow." supplied Glimmer, looking towards the archer who had been silent all this time.
"Quick, how many fingers am I holding up?" Adora turned her head to the side, spotting Bow leaning against the stone wall of their small cell, his eyes devoid of his usual merriment.
"Three." Adora replied, slowly sitting up. She suppressed her groan at the pain brought on by her movement. "What happened?" She asked. "And why do I feel like I got run over by a Skull tank?"
"You don't remember?" Glimmer asked at the exact moment Bow angrily said, "She-ra let us down."
"Bow!" admonished Glimmer sharply. "We don't know that for sure! She could have been detained by a threat elsewhere."
"She knew how important this raid was." retorted Bow, a sullen look on his face. "She had all the details about when and where we were going to launch this attack on the Horde. She just didn't bother to show."
Adora let out an angry hiss, Bow's words stirring her memory, making her recall what she had briefly forgotten. The Rebellion had decided to take back Bright Moon, by forcibly evicting the Hordesmen who had taken up residence in the castle. When the fighting had broken out, Adora had slipped away to a spot she thought was secluded from all eyes. She had just been drawing her sword with the intent to transform into She-ra, when a Horde Trooper burst through the bushes. He didn't say a word, didn't demand her surrender before aiming his rifle at her. The first energy blast she avoided, dropping down to her knees. The second she was forced to defend against, bringing her sword up to deflect the blast. It hit fast and furious, and her sword went flying out of her hand. With dismayed eyes, Adora made the mistake of turning to track her sword, and that's when the third blast hit her. That the the last thing she could recall before awakening with her head resting on Glimmer's lap.
"How many of our people have been captured?" Adora asked, trying to assess their situation.
"Too many." Bow answered. "Many have already been sent into the slave pits, others shipped to Beast Island. They're to serve as snacks for the monsters who roam that forsaken land."
"Some escaped, but many were injured." added Glimmer. "The Rebellion will be reeling from this lost for years to come..."
"So what you two are implying is that we shouldn't count on a rescue from our allies." Inwardly Adora was cursing up a storm, mourning the loss of her sword. Was it still lying where it had fallen, or had the Trooper taken it with him? It would be better if he had claimed it for his master for then the chance of it being on the premise would be high indeed. And with it, hope restored for if she could get her hands on it, She-ra would be let loose to trounce their captors, and free everyone from the dungeon.
As much as she wanted to, Adora knew she couldn't ask about the sword. To show concern over a piece of metal would raise her friend's suspicions, making them one step closer to perhaps discovering her secret. So instead she asked, "Has Hordack been by to gloat yet?"
"No, he hasn't." Bow shook his head, as Glimmer murmured under her breath, "Thank goodness for that small mercy."
"There's only been a few guards by, and they haven't shown much interest in this cell." continued Bow. "They've been to busy dealing with the other Rebels, putting them into cells, only to drag them off to their final fates minutes later."
"Either there is no one with any real authority around, or we're being saved for something special." Adora sighed, not wishing to dwell on what that something could be. As a former member of the Horde, she knew just have inventive Hordack and his commanders could get. "Well...there is one bright side in all of this."
"And that is?" Bow asked, with a quirk of his eyebrow.
"We're not in any of the main Horde holding facilities." Adora stated.
"You're right...we're still in Bright Moon. In my mother's castle." Glimmer said. "But how did you know....?"
"This cell is too clean, too humane." Adora explained. "There's not even any chains on the walls, no manacles...if this was a Horde dungeon, we would be strung up, sharp instruments laid out for our examination, as we awaited the torturer to arrive."
Glimmer shivered in fear. "It sounds like you spent a lot of time in the dungeons."
"Yes, I have." Adora said simply, not wishing to elaborate on what sort of role she had played in Hordack's dungeon dramas. As a Force Commander, Adora had many times stepped in to personally extract out information from the prisoners. In fact, she had even enjoyed it, before she had been turned to the light. It was a side of herself that Adora hoped to never reveal to her friends. She closed her eyes, forcing thoughts of the past away from her.
"Here's where we stand." Adora said, eyelids raising to reveal her blue eyes shining with intense determination. "We'll have a far easier time of escaping while we're on *friendly* territory. There will be people in town willing to aid us, be it helping to hide us from the Horde, or letting us borrow horses. It's not that far to Whispering Woods, all we need is to reach it's borders, and the trees will protect us."
"You make it sound so easy!" Bow said, shaking his head negatively.
"I didn't say it was easy Bow, I just pointed out that we have a good chance of getting free." Adora replied. "It's not like you to give up so easily, and I'm not going to let you start now." She turned her stern gaze on Glimmer. "I won't let either of you submit to defeat until all our options have been exhausted. Now, what have you two done while I was sleeping? Bow, did you try to pick the lock on that door?"
"No, it's been to active in the halls." He said.
"As soon as there is a lull outside, I want you to get to work on that door immediately. Glimmer?"
"Yes?" asked the princess nervously.
"I see you are not wearing an anti magic collar, that was a foolish move on the part of our guards." Adora smiled grimly. "One we can take full advantage of."
"But I am still so weak from our last battle." Glimmer protested. "I can only manage a light show..."
"But that's someg! Ig! If you could just blind the guards with a burst of light, Bow and I would be able to tackle them. If we can get our hands on their weapons we'll be able to----"
"Speaking of the guards..." interrupted Bow, backing away from the door. "They are headed this way!"
"Hmm....looks like someone has finally made a decision about what to do with us." Adora said. "Glimmer...get ready to dazzle them..." She ordered in a whisper thin tone.
"O...okay..." Glimmer said nervously, bringing her hands up, palms facing towards the door.
"She's in this cell." said the gruff voice of one of the troopers. "Open the door quickly...the commander does not like to be kept waiting." The lock rattled as nervous hands fumbled to get it open. "Glimmer now!" Adora hissed as the door swung open. Glimmer leapt to her feet, her hands glowing as she focused, giving Bow and Adora time to shield their eyes, before letting loose with a blast of light bright enough to rival that of the sun's.
"I'm blind!" shrieked a man, ing ing Glimmer to gasp in realization. This was no Hordesman, but one of the many servants that worked in the castle! The lead trooper strode in, letting out a mocking laugh at the look of dismay on the princess' face. "We were expecting you'd pull a trick like that!" He grabbed the sobbing man, slamming him face first into the wall. They could not tell if he was merely unconscious or dead as the trooper released his grip, the farmer's body dropping down to the floor like a ragdoll. "Subdue the light witch!" The trooper commanded, as two more troopers rushed into the room, trampling over the prone figure of the peasant as they entered. One slapped Glimmer hard across the face, the force of it sure to mar her lovely face with a bruise the next day. She shrieked as she fell backwards to the ground, eyes wide and brimming with tears.
"Glimmer!" Adora cried, rushing towards her side, while another trooper forced the business end of his rifle against Bow's chest. "Don't even try it pretty boy!" Bow slowly raised his hands to show he meant no harm.
"Don't hurt him!" Adora snapped, hands curling into fists. If only she were She-ra at the moment. Than she'd show these monsters a thing or two about brute force! A rifle was trained on her, and she calmly asked, "Is violence the only reason you've come here?"
"She speaks too boldly for a prisoner." A trooper said. "She must be punished. Then and only then will she learn how to properly speak to her captors!" He moved as though to slam his gun against her head, all the while Adora staring evenly, not showing any signs of backing down.
"No...stay your hand.....!" ordered the trooper in charge. "Our orders were to deliver her unharmed to our master's chambers."
"Chambers?!" asked Adora, not liking the sound of that. "You can tell your master Hordack that I decline his invitation!"
"You don't have a choice in that matter." The trooper told her. "In fact the only options you have is whether you will come along peacefully, or if we will have to drag you there."
"I'll never go anywhere with you of my own free will!" snapped Adora.
"Than we will have to take our revenge on your friends." The trooper nodded, and the one who had been eager to hit Adora, spoke next. "We will kill your man, and beat your little friend within an inch of death." He laughed. "And then we will give her as a present to one of Hordack's many commander. Perhaps Grizzlor or Leech would like a turn at that fine piece of ass before she is killed."
"You wouldn't dare!" Glimmer c out out in horror. "I am a princess and won't be treated that way!"
"Your title means nothing to the Horde!" The trooper snapped back, chuckling darkly. "All of you are nothing more than slaves now, your lives existing only on the whims of our Masters."
"You don't have the authority to kill us." Adora argued. "Hordack has waited too long to get us in his clutches. I highly doubt he would let his troopers kill the ones who have been a thorn in his side for so long. No...." She let out a bitter laugh here. "For you to kill us would be doing us a favor. Hordack hates to have his toys die too soon. It frees them from his hook, allowing them to escape any further torture and humiliation."
"That is only if a prisoner is of some value to him. You place too high a value on your companions' lives." The trooper commander pointed at Bow. "Kill him."
"With pleasure." His finger twitched, time seeming to move in slow motion, as the trigger was slowly pulled back.
"No, stop!" Glimmer cried out. "Adora, do something!"
"Leave him be!" commanded Adora, her hand reaching out pleadingly. "I'll...I'll go with you...just don't hurt him!" Her words came too late as a blast left the gun, instantly hitting Bow. His eyes rolled back in his head, just before he fell face first on the floor.
"Bow..." Glimmer's shoulders shook, her tears flowing freely down her cheeks.
"I knew you'd be persuaded eventually." The trooper said, his helmet hiding his smirk. The trooper who had shot Bow, moved towards the two women. A shocked Adora offered no resistance as he dragged her up from the floor by her hair. She was herded out the door, and into the hallway where her wrists were handcuffed before her. Only then did the trooper fill her in on the *joke* they had played. "He's not really dead you know."
Glimmer's head lifted slowly, too emotionally stricken to let hope into her heart.
"All our weapons were set to stun." confided the guard. "You were right...Our master does not what any permanent harm to come to either of you before delivering you to Hordack."
"Glimmer..." Adora licked her lips nervously. "Check on Bow." Glimmer wordlessly crawled over to Bow's side. She hesitated on touching him, frightened to what she would do if his skin were to be already turning cold. "Does he have a pulse?" asked Adora.
"I....I...can't..."
DOES HE HAVE A PULSE?!" shouted Adora, the commanding tone back ir vor voice. Glimmer responded well to authority, and took hold of Bow's arm, fingers pressed against his wrist. She let out a sigh as she felt a light pulse against her fingertips. "It's there, although very weak."
Adora kept the relief she felt from showing. "It's up to you to take care of Bow while I'm gone. Can you do that Glimmer?"
"Yes...I think so..." Adora giving her a purpose was the only thing keeping the pink haired girl from having a nervous breakdown right now.
"Good. I'm ready." Adora nodded at her guards, causing them to laugh in amusement.
"You are some piece of work." admonished the trooper leader. "Still giving commands even in the situation you are in. That takes some kind of nerve...or just plain stupidity. I haven't decided which one you have more of." He pulled a piece of black silk from out of the pouch on his belt. She tensed as he approached her, causing the guard behind her to tightly grip her shoulders.
"Is a blindfold really necessary?" Adora asked, as the silk was tied around her head, rendering her temporarily sightless. "I am already quite familiar with the castle's layout. It's not as though I couldn't find my way through it's passageways if I were to get free."
"Special orders for a special prisoner." The trooperd. d. "The Force Commander was very specific on how you were to be handled. Now let's move." He said, waving two fingers in the direction they were to go.
"Please be safe Adora." Glimmer murmured, as the door to the cell was once again locked.
*****************************************************************************************
They had taken Adora to one of the top most floors of the castle, this she was certain of, by the amount of stairs they had climbed. Unless she had miscounted, they were on the fourth floor, where the bedrooms were located. For the most part they had traveled in silence, something for which she was extremely grateful for. She didn't ntheitheir taunts and jeers added to the humiliation that she was sure was awaiting her in the bedroom her tormentor had taken residence in.
All too soon they reached their destination, and Adora wishing to maintain her dignity for as long as possible, offered up no resistance as she was ushered into the room. She walked in without support, standing tall and regal, seemingly unconcerned with her current predicament.
She didn't know if she should feel relief or disappointment when no one greeted her, there seemed to be no one but the guards around to witness her arrival. "Here..." She was guided deeper into the room, ears straining for sound. The clink clank of chains being handled, and the footsteps of the troopers were the only thing to break up the quiet of this room. "Oh!" Adora let slip a startled cry as a arm wrapped around her waist, lifting her off the floor. Her legs straddled the hips of the man who held her, while another grabbed hold of one of her hands, raising her arms high above her. The rattling of chains sounded again, as they were looped over and around her wrists, snapping into place into tiny hooks on the hand cuffs. The other end of the chain was welded to a hook into the ceiling, the length of which was short en to to leave her swinging once the man disengaged her legs from his waist. There was plenty of space between her feet and the floor, forcing all her weight to be held up by her wrists as she dangled helplessly.
There was also no wall for her back or front to bump against, leaving her to realize she must be hung roughly near the center of the room. A pity that, for if she could lean against a wall, it would take some of the pressure off her once the beating started. Her swinging was stopped by someone catching hold of her foot. Her boot was pulled off, a manacle being placed on her ankle. The same was done to her other foot, leaving her anchored to the floor, her legs spread slightly. She tensed, expecting her clothes to be ripped off next, and was surprised to hear the guards leaving the room instead. ~I guess someone requested that little bit of *fun* be left for them to do.~ Adora thought, renewing her struggles now that she was alone.
She strained and flexed, testing to see if there were any weak links in the chains, but they held steady. She shook her whole body, cursing that they had the foresight to weld the ends of the chains to their anchors. There would be no chance---slight as it may be---for the one of the chains to slide off by her struggles. ~If I was She-ra right now, I'd be able to snap these chains instantly!~ Adora thought. Of course...if she had been in her warrior princess form, she never would have been captured in the first place. She wondered just when had she become so reliant on the She-ra persona. There had been a time when Adora could have easily defeated several opponents at once, but so much had changed since her days as Hordack's #1 Force Commander.
She had not been hanging for very long, her arms just beginning to feel the strain of holding her up, when someone new entered the room. They were silent, not making a sound as they walked towards the blond captive, the carpet muffling their footsteps. Adora was caught completely unawares when a strong smelling scent was held under her nose. It was a heady perfume mixture of floral scents, jasmine and lavender competing for dominance. That particular blend was quite familiar to Adora, bringing up another set of memories earned during her time as a Force Commander. Sweet remembrances of lying naked atop rumpled sheets, one arm holding on possessively to the black haired woman that slept next to her. A contented smile on the vixen's face as Adora cuddled close to her, resting her head against the woman's bosom.
She snapped back to reality as hands reached up from behind her, carresing over her body in lazy exploration. One hand reached up to take a firm grip on her right breast, Adora proving to big to be contained in one handful. Fingers manipulated her breast through the clothing, lightly squeezing and probing, causing the nipple to harden in excitement. "Stop..." Adora whispered. "Don't touch me!" But she was ignored as another hand slipped between her legs, rubbing against her covered crotch. Adora let out a squeal of dismay, her body squirming as she tried to move away from the invading hands. Laughter was emitted right next to her ear, as a body--female---pressed against Adora's back.
"Who are you?!" demanded Adora, although she already felt sure of the woman's identity. The perfume and the laugh were too familiar, to big a coincidence to belong to anyone else.
"Come now Adora...." A sultry voice said. "Surely you haven't forgotten my touch so soon?" Just as suddenly as it had begun, the groping stopped, the woman reaching up to remove the blindfold. Adora blinked rapidly, her eyes trying to adjust to the change in light---what little there was. Thick drapes had been drawn over the windows, blotting out the sun, so that the only light came from the dozens of white candles placed throughout the room. She was situated so that she was suspended a few feet away from a queen sized bed, perfect for allowing someone to lie down and gaze upon her body, and whatever may be done to it.
"Now now...." purred the black haired woman, gripping Adora by the chin, forcing her gaze away from the bed. "Eyes on me---and only me." This was spoken savagely, possession and jealousy heavy in the woman's green eyes.
"Catra!" Adora said, her emotions at war among each other. Relief that it wasn't Hordack or one of the other men in his employ. A bittersweet happiness to see the blacked haired vixen for they had once been lovers, and yet at the same time worry and fear over what Catra might do because of the abrupt way the relationship had ended.
"Oh...you don't look very happy to see me." Catra pouted, eyes half lidded. "And here I was looking so forward to getting reacquainted with you."
"I...it's not that...I..I would..." Adora chided herself for her foolish prattling, acting no better than a schoolgirl with her first crush! She forced her heart to be steel, locking cold blue eyes with Catra's electric green. "Perhaps if you were to unchain me I could show you just how much I enjoy seeing you again."
Catra let out a peal of laughter. "Oh Adora, ever the cutting wit." She released her grip from Adora's face. "Hmm...no, I don't think so. As much as I enjoy chasing down my prey, I have waited far too long to catch you. And once I get my hands on a mouse, I never let go." She smiled wickedly.
