Bismuth sighed as she watched the sun of Homeworld rise over the horizon and stood up, her thick body cracking under the sudden onslaught of movement. Her break was over and as she looked to the other Bismuths she couldn't help but wonder if this was all there was to life for her. Moving a pink colored dred out of her eyes, she laughed bitterly at that. Of course this was all there was for her to do. She was a Bismuth. The Diamonds and other Elite gems were in charge and since they were like giants over them all, then there was nothing she could do. Bismuth turned to her Forge and focused on her Gem making it glow on command and opened the door to her Forge and walked in to a clean work space that was over two hundred degrees. Each Bismuth had something that they were in charge of making and she herself was in charge of making or helping make the arena the Diamons had wanted. However building buildings for the elites was utterly boring so she had something else to do. Something better left under the table so to speak.
She made weapons for Gems who came to her with a request. Not a lot of gems knew how to summon their own weapons so they paid her in elements such as zink and iron for things like spears and swords. The more material she had to work with the better she would look and the better she looked the less suspicious the diamonds would be of her extra activities. She began her usual ritual of bathing in lava before she stepped over to her big tipped buckets of materials and began making more bricks for the arena when there was an alarm at the door. Bismuth blinked her black eyes and turned her multicolored head to the door royally irritated with who ever decided to come so fucking early for her. Her hand heated up enough to melt the materials together and she placed it into the fire before blowing on it to reveal a multen peace of metal. Bismuth was about to start hamering it with her changing hand but the bell rung again.
"Fuck, I can't work under these conditions!" she hissed before she used her gem to open the door. A smell flowed into her forge that was flowery and intoxicating. It was a gem Eliete. Bismuth didn't look up from hammering the metal into a usable brick as someone walked into her forge. Actually there were two Gems. Bismuth looked up before her and saw a Rose Quartz standing in her workplace with her Pearl. Now, the fact that both of them were wearing cloaks was suspicious but Bismuth didn't stick in her nose in business that wasn't hers.
The Rose Quartz Eliete lowered her hood and her Pearl did the same.
"Can I help you?" Bismuth greeted with false modesty.
"I need you to make me a weapon if the request wouldn't be too much trouble." Rose said. Bismuth looked back up at them to see their faces. They were made in the dirt like she was but they were made of the highest quality of materials. Jealousy flowed through her holographic form while she was looking at the Quartz. Then her eyes traveled to the small skinny Pearl on her right side. Her gem was placed center of her forehead and she wore a pink dress, head down, blue eyes looking at Bismuth from under pale yellow lashes. Something hit Bismuth like a warrior's weapon.
She had seen Pearls before, but this one was different.
"I don't know what you're talking about Quartz. There aren't any Bismuths who make weapons." Bismuth lied. She only offered services to those who didn't shine like the elite.
"What if I told you that I'm planning to take on Homeworld for a little blue planet called Earth?" Rose asked.
"I don't understand." Bismuth answered her.
"Pearl." Rose said, a hand placing itself on a smaller pale blond head. Pearl closed her eyes and Bismuth was enamored with the way she looked as she twirled and a hologram of the planet Rose had said was floating in front of Bismuth. It was a beautiful planet. And just like the pricks are, the Diamonds saw nothing but a planet for materials and probably a colony.
"What uses the planet?" Bismuth asked and Pearl answered her, her voice small as if not to anger Rose. "Humans use the planet. Apparently they have something called water and food. Only a few of the Homeworld Gems have been there, but they all say its a wonderful place to build a colony. Rose says all life is precious, and that we can't let..."
"Enough Pearl." Rose said slightly and immediately Pearl's mouth closed. It was hardwired into her to follow the directions of her owner Gem. When Pearl was quiet, Rose lifted her hood and then her own looking at Bismuth.
"Of Course this information is only if you can make me a weapon. One that can cut through the physical form of a Gem. I'll leave Pearl here until you make up your mind. I'll be back tomorrow. Pearl," Rose looked to her little Pearl who's blue eyes looked up at her with such love. It wasn't intentional, but if she had to Rose would use that love to her advantage. Never to harm her, but to get into Bismuth's mind. "Do whatever you're asked. I don't want a naughty report." she said then left the Forge.
Pearl stood there looking at Bismuth and Bismuth couldn't help be notice her presence. Pearls weren't rare on Homeworld, but it was rare for someone to leave their Pearl with another Gem. By law Rose should be shattered for leaving her Pearl with a Bismuth.
Turning Bismuth went back to making bricks for the arena. It wasn't long before she slipped into her own mind, unaware of Pearl until a small hand touched her bicep. Looking down, Bismuth looked into two orbs of blue that made Bismuth feel weird.
"Is there anything you need help with Bismuth?" She asked and Bismuth's mind flashed to Pearl laying on the coldest part of the forge while she went to town on the little gem. Blinking twice, Bismuth cleared her throat and gave Pearl the direction of handing her materials in the order she needed them. Slipping into a rhythm the two of them kept the pace of making bricks much easier.
"So, how is it being what you are?" Pearl asked and Bismuth blinked again looking at her.
"What?"
"What is it like being a Bismuth?" Pearl asked. Was it her or did this Pearl have a valid question. She had been a Bismuth since she burst out of the ground, but she had been told from the moment she hit the atmosphere that she was nothing but a builder.
"You know, I've never really thought about it. I'll have to get back to you on that one."
