It takes far longer to solve most problems than it does to discover them. Granted, this is to be expected. After all... so many of these problems take root early, and then take years to fester. Such is the case with our newest example. And after all, unlike everyone else at her school, Jenny was a robot.
Jenny had waited, done her best to be patient, tried her hardest to like herself when so many of her classmates didn't... it took a special strain on her when she heard the Crust Cousins, bragging about what they had done the previous weekend.
"And of course, just a tease of his little twig, and three special words, and the boy was a fountain." Brit announced to the girls' locker room. In some schools, this might be enough to get someone embarrassed, but the Crusts ruled this school with an iron fist. "That wasn't the fun part. The fun part was him begging afterward!" Brit let out a hearty laugh at the boy's expense.
Unlike everyone else, Jenny could just increase the sensitivity of her audio array. She had no reason to be in a locker room, and so waited outside, eavesdropping while she waited for her friends to come out of the boys' locker room. She wasn't even allowed in the locker room, since her outfit just transformed as the moment required. She kept her usual blue miniskirt and crop-top.
"Yeah!" Tiff announced, "My part of the family may a' got the badonkadonk," she slapped her ass for proper emphasis, "But this girl gots a voice that makes all them boys bend over backwards." Tiff had always been a little too into hip-hop vocabulary, and that made her hard to comprehend. "Now me, I gotta let 'em pound a little strange afore they'll do what I want. But they always do what I want." She snickered at her own talents.
Brad walked up beside Jenny, who was leaning her back against a wall, and asked the obvious question. "What are you thinking about?"
Jenny re-adjusted her audio array, wanting to focus on the person she was talking to, "What does 'pounding strange' mean?" Jenny asked, providing air-quotes for the phrase in question.
They were both walking out of the school for the day, and had gotten to the sidewalk by the time he thought of an answer that wouldn't sound super-awkward. "Remember health class?" Brad asked, already knowing that Jenny would remember.
"Of course." Jenny answered. "Three days on human reproduction, and a whole semester on how not to judge people." Brad just had a blank stare. "The irony wasn't lost on me."
"Well, it's another phrase for doing things to a girl's genitals..." Brad was trying to come across erudite, but was just a step above tripping over his words. He stopped walking when he noticed that sad look in Jenny's eyes. He knew that look. She was worried about being different. "You alright?"
"I guess so. Just one more thing that makes me different." Jenny thought aloud. The rest of the walk home was spent with Brad trying to cheer her up about being different, with little success.
That night, Jenny sat down for her video-chat with Vega. Ever since Vexus was defeated, the Cluster had become a veritable robot utopia. Granted, that didn't mean Jenny would leave Earth.
"So, what's the word tonight?" Vega asked. It was their typical greeting, since Vega was Jenny's only female friend. Even Misty had gone full-villain, and didn't look to be reforming anytime soon. "New enemy? Upgrades? A boy you like?"
Jenny was hesitant, "Upgrades. Well, lack of upgrades. But, boys are involved."
"Mysterious. I like it." Vega smiled, "How are boys involved?"
"It has to do with human mating, which requires a nervous system wired for tactile sensations." Jenny explained. "Something that robots don't have..." She trailed off, only for Vega to break her reverie.
"We have those." Vega corrected.
"Excuse me?" Jenny could feel her eye twitching at that sentence.
"Yeah. Every member of the Cluster has a tactile neural network implanted just a few micrometers inside our dermal carapace." Vega explained. "The drones don't have them, or most of the earlier soldier models. My mom started implanting them because she enjoys torturing people, and torture is harder when people can't feel pain."
"Huh..." Jenny was just staring at the screen, trying to take in everything her friend was telling her. She continued staring, her mouth slowly falling further open.
"Are you okay?" Vega asked, getting Jenny to shake herself awake. "You were going all 'blue screen of death'. Been going for three minutes."
"Do you think you could send me one of those?" Jenny asked.
"A drone soldier?" Vega asked back, a sneer on her face, taunting Jenny about the blue girl's lack of male 'companionship'.
"No. The tactile neural network!" Jenny was clearly upset, but not so much at Vega, despite the obvious taunting at Jenny's expense.
"Sure. I've got plenty of the next-gen ready to be installed, and the upgrade protocols. Your mom's an engineer, so she could install it for you." Vega reminded.
"Great!" Jenny lit up. "Hold on... I'd need to convince mom to install it."
"If you can't convince her, I'll send an engineer to install it." Vega smiled, "Gotta go."
Jenny shut off the interstellar chat monitor. She walked downstairs, feeling understandably embarrassed, looking for Nora. "Mom?"
"Yes, XJ9?" Nora turned to face Jenny. She had been at her workbench, soldering a few stray circuits together. No telling what she might be making... but she let it sit behind her.
"I wanted to talk to you about... human physiology?" Jenny tried to announce, but couldn't help it being a question.
"Of course." Nora crossed her legs, and folded her arms. "Uncertain about a particular aspect?"
"Sex." Jenny tried to answer. "I've been reading a lot about it."
"That seems unnecessary." Nora scolded. "You can't create children, since you lack the organs. And you can't derive any pleasure from the act, since nerves would get in the way of a combat-ready model such as yourself." Nora finished her rant by spinning around to resume her work.
"Got it." Jenny agreed, walking back upstairs. She sat down on her bed again, weeping into her pillow. She wasn't sure exactly how long she'd been sobbing quietly, and there was no proper way to judge, since her crying created no real tears; and the fact that it created no tears made her cry even more.
She felt her metal pigtails vibrating against her head, though the ringing kept itself restricted inside herself. A flick of her wrist, and a cell phone appeared in her hand. While she could have balanced the phone between her head and shoulder, the phone stuck itself magnetically to her head.
"Jenny?" She heard Sheldon's voice echoing inside her, "You're still quiet. Did I hit the wrong frequency?"
"The frequency isn't the problem." Jenny said. She didn't open her mouth, mostly because she knew Nora would just walk up here and tell her to be quiet, considering it was probably very late at night. Learning that she could keep the external volume muted by closing her mouth was useful enough; learning that she could talk on the transmitting frequencies was even better. "I've been feeling... inhuman lately."
"Jenny, you don't need to--" Sheldon started.
"Feel bad? Be sad? Try to be normal?" Jenny shot.
"You don't need to explain." Sheldon finished. "I've seen your blueprint, and you're not human." Sheldon's words hung heavy in the air. Jenny could almost sense the smile spreading on his face. "Say something. It always feels awkward when I bring up that whole incident with the Cluster and your blueprints. It's like looking at a regular girl naked. Through binoculars. While hiding in a tree outside her window." she could almost hear him blushing.
Jenny thought about that sentence, all of them, and she wanted to be offended. Really, she tried to be offended about it, but all she could think was how brilliant this boy could be. "Hey, you're doing all that advanced placement stuff with my mom, right?" Jenny asked. "How well would you be able to build a new XJ frame? It doesn't need to be perfect, just as long as it's compatible with my brain."
"I could make you a brand new robot body, Jenny." Sheldon said nervously. "I've made a bunch of stuff that's more than compatible with your current frame, but I don't want to make anything too intrusive. I've made five partial upgrade blueprints, but it always feels like cheating."
"You can't be cheating on me. You're not my boyfriend, because we can't even be together..." Jenny stopped when she heard a sniffle on the other end. "I'm sorry, Sheldon. You know I don't mean for things like that to be mean..."
Sheldon looked at the fresh schematics on his table. New frames for Jenny... he hadn't dared look at these in quite a while. "You wouldn't want these upgrades. They'd be a huge step down in combat. I'm sorry I drew them. It's like a robotic version of an up-skirt photo." Jenny did seem to laugh at that part, "You should laugh at me more. I'm obsessed to the point of exclusion; and we're not even compatible."
Jenny knew sad sounds when she heard them, and this conversation had just turned itself around wonderfully in her favor. "Sheldon, you and mom have both said something that catches my attention. My current body is a 'combat model', right?"
"Yeah." Sheldon affirmed, shaking his head to himself, "Sexiest soldier I'll ever see." He muttered.
"Thanks for the compliment." Jenny cocked an eyebrow, and Sheldon could hear the sarcasm.
"You won't hold that compliment against me, will you?" Sheldon asked.
"Tell you what. I'll forgive you, but only if you build me a 'non-combat' frame. I want it to be even sexier, and I want to be able to transform into my XJ-9 body at a moment's notice." When Jenny heard that long silence that she knew meant shock and fear, she explained further. "Please, Sheldon. I'll get whatever parts we need. You've always been a good friend, and I'm ready to try something more than being friends. But first, more than anything, I want to be... compatible."
Jenny may have been speaking in a husky tone, which Sheldon knew meant that she was manipulating him, but he didn't care. She was granting him not only permission, but assistance with a more... organic frame. "Sounds good, Jenny! I'll have a full schematic for you by Shop Class tomorrow." Sheldon eagerly agreed.
The stars went down, and the sun came up. For Sheldon and Jenny, Shop wasn't actually a class; especially since Sheldon easily outclassed the teacher. It was just what they did during lunch period. When she started giving Sheldon a chance, she did enjoy talking to him. Whether he was working on her or just tinkering on his own projects was incidental. After a while, she just liked being close to him.
They sat down, and Sheldon handed Jenny a disk; which Jenny scanned hastily. "This seems like a pretty long list of notes." Jenny thought aloud. "Why aren't there any requests for materials? Not so much as a pound of carbon-fiber."
"I didn't want to impose." Sheldon tried. "Materials imply measurements. Even the amount of artificial skin implies your hips, your waist, your bust..." Sheldon may have trailed off like usual, but his words had real guilt behind them. "Maybe even a new height. We'd hate to have you end up like Nora." They shared a smile over that, since Nora was quite too short for her own good.
"Keep my height the same." Jenny instructed. Looking down at her current hands, "I think we should focus more on the insides than on some secondary sex characteristics that I'm never going to use." Jenny thought further, knocking on her chest-plate, making it echo.
"The notes I've given you are on designs intended to simulate a few specific organs." Sheldon explained. "Even if I was comfortable defining all the shapes of your body, I'm not sure how freely we should be talking here."
"I don't think you need to build more than one respiratory organ, or more than one filter-- why would I need ovaries?" Jenny stopped talking about the organs. "Remember," she reached one retractable arm across the table, trying to put a hand on Sheldon's shoulder. "I may want us to be as compatible as possible, but I'm still an android."
"Gynoid." Sheldon corrected. "Any robot that tries to imitate female reproductive organs is called a gynoid." He sat back at his desk. "Even the talking blow-up-dolls."
"Blow-up-dolls?" Jenny asked, mouth hanging open, "Blow up as in, balloons? Or blow up as in dynamite?"
"Balloons." Sheldon answered. "Some guys just buy these mannequins that are basically a person-shaped balloon full of air. Then they have sex with it." Sheldon started laughing at that part.
Jenny seemed to disagree with his value judgment. "That's brilliant!" She yelled, getting a look from Sheldon that went hastily from confused to excited. "Honestly, if we found could just pre-program a ton of different shapes, then all we'd need to do is fill an elastic version of the synthetic skin with nano-robots!"
"Where are we supposed to find a huge archive of different bodies? From something 2d, like photographs, that would take thousands--" Sheldon stopped when he saw Jenny sneering at him.
"You're an eighteen year old boy." Jenny reminded. "You might love me, but I know you're fantasizing about something that won't chafe quite like titanium."
"First of all, I'm a hundred and sixteen, thanks to you." Sheldon reminded in return, mocking the fact that he'd previously spent a long time in space. "I'll do this. I'll code everything you want, but where are we going to get that much nano-tech? There would be billions of them." Sheldon submitted.
"Don't worry. I'll have it all by Saturday." Jenny announced. Today was Monday; so clearly, she wanted to give her friend plenty of time to write code.
It took a while longer than Jenny had anticipated, since Vega didn't have a nano-robot manufacturing plant in operation. But the following Thursday, two drones from Cluster Prime arrived at Sheldon's garage.
He had found a place that would 3d-print anything, with no questions asked, and also didn't care that the material he was using wasn't the same as what everyone else wanted printed. The end result was a leathery looking, almost ghoulish bag of artificial skin. It was guaranteed not to break under any reasonable amount of strain, but that didn't make Sheldon less nervous.
When Sheldon arrived at his garage, there were already two drones standing there. Each of them was well over seven feet tall, and they set down large crates. Both metal boxes, stacked atop one another, were just a little taller than Sheldon. He opened the first one, and saw a gray-colored blob inside. He knew immediately that these were the nano-robots that Jenny wanted. Looking at these massive, hulking drones, it would have been understandable if he was intimidated.
Lifting up the crate, he found that it was almost weightless. "These don't feel right." Sheldon growled as he set the crate down. "The box is two pounds. The nano-robots, if made with the schematics I'm familiar with for Cluster-grade robotics, should be over a hundred pounds. These are less than thirty. They're practically weightless!"
"Listen, human. Vega sent a message along saying that she couldn't find the heavier version, despite a specific request." One of the drones announced. "Whatever you're building for XJ9, it's gonna be ultra-lightweight."
Sheldon opened up his phone, dialed, and said only two words. "It's ready."
Jenny flew to Sheldon's garage, eyeballing the delivery drones. "What are they doing here?"
"Ms.XJ9, Empress Vega has insisted that, since this will be a major upgrade for your body, your positronic brain be uploaded to the Cluster Cloud." One of the drones announced, with a voice of grandeur.
Jenny glared at both of them. "First, I don't take orders, and my brain isn't even built like one from the Cluster. Second, my brain is built on a quantum-entanglement drive, as in extremely solid state! I'm incompatible with your Cloud!" She screamed.
"Apologies, if we offend, Ms.XJ9." The other drone announced, saluting Jenny. "If you refuse to back up your brain, then we're only supposed to help your human engineer to attach your new neural network."
Sheldon set everything, at least everything inanimate, in place around his workbench. "Would the robots please follow me to the upgrading room?" Sheldon said with that grin of almost-mismatched teeth. The drones stood right behind him, and Jenny sat down on that workbench. "You two are only to attach the neural net. Right?"
"Of course, mister Sheldon."
Sheldon looked up at Jenny, "Good. Jenny, trust me on this. Take your head off, enter sleep mode, and the drones and I will be done in under an hour." She did unscrew her head, and set it down beside herself. When she entered sleep mode, Sheldon turned to the drones. "Good, now we just need to pour the nano-robots into the synthetic skin and install a few thousand neurons. Please start pouring." Sheldon motioned to one of the drones.
"I happen to notice that you didn't mention anything about her positronic brain-- err, quantum drive brain." The other drone mentioned, several dozen tiny arms attaching the neural network. The construction of Jenny's new body was halfway complete. "What are you doing with XJ9?"
"That's in step two. Specifically, her quantum drive is going to the Cluster" Sheldon began, "I needed to create a transmitter-receiver system with the brain and the nano-robots to begin with. Morally, I'll tell her about the arrangement right away, but as a matter of functionality, she'll never notice that the body is being controlled by the receivers in the nano-swarm instead of a direct link. Noting the travel time between the Cluster and Earth, Jenny should wake up right after her drive is hooked up." They continued working for another half an hour after he finished.
"Not to offend, Mr. Sheldon, but why are you placing so much faith in us?" The drone holding Jenny's brain asked.
"I trust you because Jenny does, and I have faith in her." Sheldon answered, setting an egg timer. "Now.. go hook up the drive." Sheldon chose not to mention the robot suits, and his readiness to retrieve Jenny if they outright stole her. The drones vanished into a portal, back to the Cluster. Sheldon poured in an additional few pounds of various metals, readying the nano-swarm to do their work, and sealed the synthetic skin.
Sheldon had already rebuilt the XJ9 hard-body frame by the time the bag of skin on the workbench started moving. "Sheldon... how do humans deal with so many neurons trying to accomplish so much at once?"
"Partition each neuron into its own virtual drive." He instructed, soldering her head back on, and having placed a relay-brain in there to stay ahead of the curve. "By the way. Your brain is on the Cluster. We could go get it, or leave it there. Either way... how are you doing?"
"Feels fine. Feels good. Why is my brain on the Cluster instead of Earth?" Jenny actually managed to force herself into a coherent shape, though it looked just like a softer version of her combat body. The rage did wonders for her focus.
"The Cluster is consistently safe. The Earth requires a robot super-heroine to defend it." Sheldon argued. "Practice a little more. There's no delay from your quantum drive at the Cluster; so it should all feel just like your old body."
"Except for the ability to feel things..." Jenny slumped down. Without any anger, she had nothing to keep her focused enough to stand.
"You'll get used to it." Came Vega's reassuring, dulcet tones.
"Jenny, did you hear that?" Sheldon asked.
"Yeah, but... how did you hear it?" Jenny wondered to the frequencies in her head.
"As a little thank you for doing what we all knew was best for Jenny; namely, keeping her brain safe on a huge galactic fortress instead of down there on Earth, my drones implanted you with a nano-drone while you were working! I hope you enjoy it!" Vega explained all of that, and it took Sheldon quite some time to come out of shock. In fact, Jenny looked like a four-foot-tall blond in a red dress, her modest bust offset by the very thick and muscular looking legs and extra-large feet.
"Jenny, how long was I out?" Sheldon asked.
"About ten minutes. I told Vega that we wanted some 'us' time and then I jumped into your brain's nano-transmitter-thing. This is in your folders of stuff that you look at when you--" Jenny didn't even finish before Sheldon slapped himself hard in the face.
"There are a lot of weird things in those folders. Just because I fantasize about hobbit girls doesn't mean you should be turning into them." He tried to explain, "There's tentacles in there too, but that doesn't mean you'd want to be a squid."
Jenny smiled big, turning herself into a redhead with a gentle hourglass figure. "Relax. I just got into your head, figured out how best to interface with the nano-swarm, then decided it would be fun to mess with you. What do you think of this new shape?" She reached out, her new arm stretching further than a normal human arm, but nowhere near as far as her old limbs, and locked the doors all around Sheldon's garage.
"The shape is okay, but..." Sheldon took a step or two forward, placing his hands on her shoulders. "This second form is short an important feature. What do you think that might be?"
Jenny did her best to make her hands larger, using them to cover her almost-fleshy form. "I'm naked! And you're a boy! And I'm naked-- in front of a boy! I'm so embarrassed--"
The echo of Sheldon speaking through the nano-receiver came into her head. "I also built you, and showed you every fragment of female anatomy that you used to cobble together that beautiful form." Sheldon wasn't usually very good with girls, but Jenny's lack of any social skills at all was making him look pretty good by comparison. "There's nothing you need to hide from me." Sheldon presented, holding out a hand to Jenny.
Jenny wasn't exactly leaving herself uncovered, but her more private places were left revealed momentarily when she took her hands away and very realistic clothing appeared. She managed to manifest a skirt, and a top, leaving her midriff uncovered and showing what had to be a weighty silver hoop lancing her belly button. All told, Sheldon was left amazed by what he was seeing, and Jenny was still fascinated by each pinprick of sensation as she intertwined Sheldon's fingers with hers. "Is this what every handshake feels like?" Jenny asked, eyes wide at the tingles going through her.
"If you can feel it anywhere past your elbow, you might want to turn the sensitivity down." Sheldon recommended.
"Okay..." Jenny reached up and put a hand on Sheldon's face-- then pinched hard, but Sheldon just smiled. "Why is your face so inured to pain? You don't seem the type."
"Ask the bullies at school. Or the space pirates." Sheldon raised an eyebrow at Jenny, who actually started reverting to something more akin to her original appearance as she tried to dig into Sheldon's memories, especially the ones that he fantasized about. "Even you've taken a few swings when..." he trailed off as the beige skin on Jenny faded to a silvery white. There were no seams, no bolts, just smooth white flesh, interrupted only by a glittering piercing where she should have had a belly button.
She leaned in, and her hair faded from a human ginger red to almost neon blue just as she managed to slide her arms around Sheldon. As she touched her newly-formed nose to his, and he found himself lost in her eyes as she gently pinned him on an empty workbench, she saw his gaze wandering "Sheldon, are you okay?" She asked, then saw he was looking back to her old body up against the wall.
"I think so." Sheldon wrapped his arms around Jenny's waist. When he tried giving an experimental squeeze, Jenny actually let out a hiccup. "And if I'm not, we've got all night to make me feel better." He said that last part with a perverse smile. Jenny didn't even wait for him to take off a single article of clothing, she just merged her miniskirt and top into her flesh, making her chest practically inflate, to something just over a b-cup. "You sure that's big enough?"
"We've got a library of over a thousand women for me to look like. Name one, and I'll turn into her instead." she offered, pulling his pants off in one smooth motion that belied her actual lack of a skeletal structure, let alone any internal structure outside her torso.
"That's a lot to consider." Sheldon said as he took off his shirt. Pinning her gently the same way she'd pinned him, he whispered to the side of her head, where a normal person would have an ear, but this head just had more smooth white flesh, "I think I'll choose... Jenny."
Jenny couldn't help the smile on her face, or the nervous giggling that accompanied it. "Careful, or you'll make a girl blush." She taunted, forcing her cheeks to redden. Then that smile got a little weaker. "Do I feel normal to you? Like holding another human, or just like a doll?"
"I don't think it matters." Sheldon assured her, sliding a hand up to cup her breast. "What's important right now is that we get to actually try 'being together', right? Humanity is overrated."
"I think you're right," Jenny agreed, nuzzling Sheldon as she pulled him close, and shuddering as the tip of his firm cock tickled the lips of her pussy. "Except that part. If humans get to do that, then they're underrated."
"Oh yeah?" Sheldon teased, pushing as far as he could into her synthetic cunt; she began panting as the boy atop her pulled back, then forward. She didn't actually need to breathe, but Jenny was having way too much fun pretending to be alive, and then there was the added bonus of how her panting just seemed to encourage Sheldon.
"Hold on. There's something else I'd like to try." Sheldon announced, hopping down from his place on the table and getting his feet onto the floor. Bending down to get just at face-level with Jenny's pussy, he took a tentative lick, and realized a flaw that their excited plan had left open. "You're lubricating yourself perfectly, but you taste like plastic." Sheldon thought out loud, but he kept on licking at the innermost parts of these luscious lips.
Jenny arched her back as Sheldon did that, just barely managing to say something coherent between the squeaking caused by Sheldon's slithering tongue. "If you... don't like it... You can... stop licking..."
Sheldon did stop licking, but only so he could pull Jenny by her ankles. She slid off the table, and landed on her feet with a little help from the boy in front of her. Now facing each other, Jenny lowered her sopping wet pussy onto Sheldon's cock, kissing him again. She put her hands on his shoulders, rhythmically raising and lowering herself as Sheldon's hands wandered all over this comely entity atop him. Against all of that friction, moaning, and as they squeezed each other tighter and tighter, Sheldon released all of that pressure deep within her.
They both lay down for a while after that. "So, where are you going to stay with this new body of yours?" Sheldon asked, arms still somewhat draped around her.
"I think the XJ9 hard-body can sleep in my bed. Then I'll just transfer my mind back here. Can you carry this body to your bed?" Jenny asked.
"Sure." Sheldon agreed. "So, what does this mean... About us?" Sheldon asked, looking into Jenny's eyes.
"You know I was just messing with you to get a new body at first, right?" Jenny reminded him.
"I know." Sheldon smiled at her. "But I did kind of owe you from when I saw your blueprints. Wait... what do you mean, 'at first'?"
"Well now, I'm thinking I'd rather keep you." She smirked, her body falling into a cyberskin-covered pile of nanites. The XJ9 with a proper metal body walked out and flew away, and Sheldon began carrying this new body to his room.
"For once, out of my century-long existence, I win." Sheldon started laughing as he set the unformed body on the bed. "I! WIN!" He shouted. As he shouted, Jenny formed a simple and lithe redhead shape.
"Don't get yourself too excited, sweetie." Jenny instructed, smiling as she spread her thighs. "That's my job, now."
