AN: Thanks for reading this chapter. We pick up a month after the end of Secrets. If you haven't read Secrets you'll have problems following certain parts of this story.
The Dragon and the Tiger
Yaki observed Azula. The waterbending prodigy marveled at her movements, powerful yet graceful. Yaki was in her debt. The Fire Nation princess had rescued him. Plus, she offered him a chance for revenge. His mind wondered back to the day they met.
Princess Azula, Miso, and a hooded stranger returned to Tekei’s ship. Captain Tekei stared at the tall stranger. The new passenger read the uneasiness in the captain's eyes. The older man was already worried about the unexplained stop to the deserted island. Now the balding captain was facing an intimidating man. Yaki was a little taller than Miso and more muscular. His size coupled with his hidden face made Yaki appear to as a possible threat. Members of the crew looked on edge as well.
"Captain Tekei, this is,” Azula pointed to Yaki, “Lt. Lee. He's my personal bodyguard. He was on his way back to the capital weeks ago. Pirates attacked his ship. He took them out but lost his ship in the process.” Azula added gentleness to her voice. “I thought he'd died but luckily a messenger hawk landed on this island. I only got word from him this morning. Lee has served the Fire Nation well and should be treated as such. He'll need food, a uniform, and bed." Azula's eyes drilled a hole into the captain.
The older man turned and yelled, “You heard Princess Azula. Find this man a uniform and a place to rest."
Yaki smiled. He leaned over and whispered in Azula's ear, "I almost believed your story."
That was the first time he'd witness Azula's talent for lies. It was one of her many talents he admired. The fire nation princess would be a worthy partner in his pursuit for vengeance against his former partners in crime. He, Azula, and Miso returned to Hearth Island a month ago. Azula seemed to get stronger everyday. Her blue flames marveled him. "She's only about 60% according to Miso. Yet she's nearly as powerful as that," Yaki's raised his voice a little, "elephant rat, Seok, we'll crush them."
"What was that Lee?"
Yaki was caught up in envisioning revenge. He did not hear Azula at first.
"You should pay attention", said Li.
"Instead of daydreaming," said Lo
Yaki smiled a smile so perfect even the elderly twins melted. "I apologize if I made it seem as if I was not paying attention. Believe me when I say Princess Azula always has my attention. I was just little mesmerized by her blue flames. They're almost as beautiful as she is. I promise”, Yaki placed his hand over his heart, “to always pay attention to her. I would never break a promise to two ladies as lovely as you two. He saw a bit of blush rise in their wrinkled cheeks.
"We believe you", said the twins in unison.
Azula rolled her eyes. She gently shook her head. "Lo and Li won over by a compliment." she whispered. Even Azula had to admit Yaki was handsome and charming for a waterbender. She didn't care how many hearts he swayed as long as he was as strong as Miso claimed.
The sunny day quickly changed to a dreary gray. The elderly twins looked at each other. "A storm is coming", they announced.
"Li, Lo, return to the fortress. Lt. Lee and I are going to train."
"Yes, Princess Azula". Both ladies smiled as Yaki helped them to their feet.
"You," Yaki pointed at the other guard across from Azula, "go with them. Make sure they stay dry."
"Yes, Lt. Lee". The guard left with Li and Lo.
Yaki smiled. He liked the authority being Azula's bodyguard gave him. It was like living in a different world. A month ago, he was chased down and attacked by a squad of Fire Nation soldiers. Now not one solider dare not disobey or challenge an order from him. . He was treated better than any other officer on the island because of Azula. The princess, ousted from the capital, ruled this island through a mixture of power, fear, and respect. "Azula, I am glad destiny allowed us to cross paths."
"You sound like Miso. Let's see if you can fight like Miso." Azula got in a fighting stance.
"I am sorry", he bowed, "I cannot fight you."
"Are you afraid I'd win?"
"Forgive me if my words sound harsh, but in your condition, I'd definitely win,"
The princess frowned. He was too arrogant. Azula took a deep breath. Deep down she knew he was right. If he was as good as Miso said Yaki would win. She wasn't going to attack in anger, but she wasn't going let him call her weak. "Is that what you believe? I'm" her movements were quick and subtle. By the end two fingers pointed at the waterbender's heart.
The tall bender quickly kneeled before her. "You're a powerful firebender still recovering. My brother told me you're at about 60%". He saw her snarl. "However, you reaching this level so quickly is absolutely amazing. Knowing that you aren't at 100% I could not fight you in good conscious. I am not like my brother. It's much harder for me to hold back. I'd hurt you." He lowered his head. " Hurting you is something I couldn't live with, Princess Azula." His head lifted to meet her eyes. " Instead of fighting you I will protect you. Let me be your shield while you recover. Once you’re at 100% I'll train with you. I will also continue to protect until you don't need me. Please let me be your shield."
The words surprised her. Yaki looked at her with the same sincere eyes Zuko used to have. Her eyes closed as she forced herself not to think of Zuko. "Why", the word was just above a whisper. Her eyes opened. The intimidating stare that made grown men wet themselves locked on to Yaki. "Why do you want to be my shield?" There was flash of lightning when she spoke.
"You saved me. I owe you my life. I think it is my destiny. You see, you're a dragon and I am a tiger" Yaki's eyes went dark, "together we will crush our enemies." It started to rain hard. Yaki waterbended the rain making sure not one drop fell on Azula. The fire princess quickly gauged the size of the area Yaki kept dry. It was a bigger than Miso's.
She turned started walking forward. "Don't just stand there. I am going to the caves. If I get wet I am going to replace you."
"Don't worry princess I'll keep you dry. Plus, didn't you know I am irreplaceable. Tigers are incredibly rare." Yaki couldn't see Azula's face but he'd liked to believe she was smiling.

Meanwhile
A very impatient Zuko waited for Azula's return to the fortress. It had been a month since he'd last seen her. He wasn't sure how she'd react to seeing him or how he'd react seeing her. The trip to Hearth Island was spur of the moment. He'd contemplated turning around several times on his way to the island, but something always pushed him to go forward. Whatever that nagging feeling was, that prompted him to continue transformed into a mixture of anger and sadness.
He was angry with himself for traveling to the island. His face showed his anger when Li and Lo entered the room. The twins took a step back before bowing. "Fire Lord Zuko, it's good to see you."
"Where's Azula?"
"Training."
"Training where?"
"She's near the cliffs", said Li
"Overlooking the lagoon," said Lo
"No, she's not, I sent guards to all of her training spots when I arrived", grumbled Zuko “40 minutes ago”.
The sisters looked at each other, then at Zuko.
"I asked a question. Where is she?" Zuko sighed, "Is she with Miso?"
"No"
"What do you mean no?" The questions came out almost in a growl to mask the panic Zuko felt. Azula was missing. Worry started to needle him but he couldn't let it show. It was bad enough he came because he'd been miserable without her. At least he had an excuse for his visit. There had been a small accidental explosion on the island last week. Zuko insisted on coming to the island himself to investigate. Zuko couldn't breakdown from worry in front of Li and Lo that would show them how he really felt and why he really came.
"Miso is in the healing chamber," said Lo.
"He's the treating two soldiers injured from the explosion," said Li.
"The explosion was in the report we sent,” added Lo.
"That's why I am here, but where is my wi," Zuko paused, "where is Princess Azula?"
"She's probably trying to keep dry with Lt. Lee", responded Li
"We left her with Lt. Lee." added Lo.
"Lt. Lee?"
"Princess Azula's private bodyguard", they responded.
Zuko stormed passed the gray haired twins. The fire lord was intent on finding Azula. "Who the hell is, Lt. Lee?" mumbled Zuko. The fire lord made it to the main entry just in time to see Azula enter. Zuko's eyes locked onto Azula. Zuko didn't noticed that a tall Fire Nation solider running in behind her. All Zuko did was stare at Azula. His eyes ran up and down her. Relief filled him. She was a little wet but she looked fine. The fire lord almost smiled until he saw her faced. She gave him a scornful look. Zuko returned the look. He finally noticed Yaki. Yaki received the same look from Zuko.
"Azula, where have you been?" There was dead silence. Li, Lo, Yaki, and couple of guards stared as Zuko marched toward Azula.
Azula walked toward him meeting him halfway. "Where I go is none of your concern, fire lord."
Zuko's jaw tightened. "Everything you do is my concern. I wish, it weren't the case, but you're my problem. You" Zuko stopped. He couldn't believe Azula just slapped him. He stared her in disbelief for a moment. The sting of his cheek made it quite clear. "Difficult as usual. You and I need to talk", he grabbed her by the arm. "Let's go somewhere private." Zuko and Azula started walking.
"Princess Azula". Yaki had caught up to Azula in few quick steps. He was just about to grab her other arm.
"Stand down Lt. Lee", said Azula without turning around.
Zuko turned his head and looked at Yaki. "Know your place."
The look Zuko gave him told Yaki everything. The fire lord had just threatened him. The bodyguard backed down. He still followed from a distance. Yaki like the others thought Zuko would take the princess to the old war room. The fire lord instead took the princess upstairs. Azula gave Yaki a nod letting him know it as okay. The waterbender stopped at the top of the second floor stairs. The third and fourth floors were banned to male guards.
Zuko sent all the female guards on the fourth floor down to the third floor. The floor was empty except for he and Azula. Zuko hadn't said a word to the Azula since they started walking. He didn't even look at her. They'd finally reached Azula's bedroom. Zuko pulled her in and slammed the door.
"Now that we're alone what do you want Zuko?" Azula folded her arms and stared at Zuko's back. She hated not being able to see his face. Zuko wasn't as good as she was with hiding thoughts and emotions.
Zuko removed the distance between them in what seemed like a blink of the eye. His mouth met with hers in a bruising hard kiss. Azula was taken off guard. In two moves Zuko had the upper hand. She knew he was pushing her back. Azula tried to stand her ground but Zuko was too strong. She did manage to move him from the direction of the bed. Finally, the kiss broke. They both needed to catch their breath. She stared into his eyes. Azula knew exactly what Zuko wanted.
"Zuko we ca"
He kissed her again. It had been 31 long days Zuko wanted this he needed this. He didn't care if it was a mistake. Azula's back pushed up against the wall stopping their forward momentum. It didn't stop Zuko's hands as he freed Azula's breasts from swim top in one swift motion. The fire lord caressed her breast. She moaned into his mouth as he rolled the harden nipple between in thumb and finger. He moved his kisses down her neck her to her collarbone.
Azula's head was swimming. She needed to tell him to stop, but she couldn't form the words. All she could do was moan while he sucked her nipple. The princess wanted him to continue despite the possible ramifications. Finally he gave her breasts a break. It was only remove her bottom. Taking of her swimwear bottom was more time consuming than pulling up her top. It was what Azula needed to gather her thoughts. Zuko tossed her shorts to the side.
"Wait", the word came out in a breathy whimper. Zuko stopped. Azula looked down on the kneeling fire lord. "This is a mistake, Zuzu."
Zuko had never been so happy to hear her call him Zuzu. Zuzu didn't care if it was a mistake. "Please, don't", Zuko licked her pussy. Azula felt like she was melting. Zuko lifted one of her legs placing it on his shoulder opening her up to him. He licked every fold lapping up her juices like a he'd never drink from her again. He wasn't going to waste a drop. Azula's legs almost gave away once he be started circling her clit with is tongue.
"Zuzuuu, I'm", she was coming. It was enough to push Zuko near the edge. He pulled down his pants, lifted her up, and thrust himself inside. The sensation of her clamping around his dick almost broke his control before the first stroke. He knew it had to be quick but he needed to enjoy her for a little while. Her legs and arms wrapped around him as he drilled her. Azula dug her nails into his back. There was no doubt she'd drawn blood. Zuko went harder. She scratched his back. There was nothing sweet and soft about this encounter. They'd both be battered bruised. Finally, Zuko couldn't hold back any longer, neither could Azula. The siblings sensed each other's climax coming. They came saying each other’s name. Azula muffled her call into Zuko's shoulder while Zuko muffled his screams through a scroll Azula stuck into his mouth.
They took a moment to catch their breath. It was over and now they had to deal with what just happened. They broke apart. Azula hurried to put her clothes back on. She didn't look at or speak to Zuko. Zuko could tell by her movements she was angry. "Azula". She turned and glared at him. "You're angry. I am sorry."
"I'm tired of hearing I am sorry. Zuko we agreed no contact for at least two months."
"I know."
"You couldn't wait two months for sex, Zuko."
"That's not way I came." He saw her slant her eyes. "I know it may seem that way but thats not the real reason I came. I wanted to see you, to hold you, talk to you" he moved until only inches separated them. "Azula, your my wife," he took her hands, "I love you" the angry lines in her face disappeared, "I don't want to spend two hours from you. I saw an opportunity to come Hearth Island and I took it."
"What opportunity?"
"I am here to investigate the explosion."
"You expect people to believe the fire lord came to investigate two idiots that blew up the dragon plum juice processing machine. They were the only ones injured. The worst part was they burned part of my orchard."
"Yes, they’ll believe it. Why else would I be here?" Zuko pulled her in for a sweet passionate kiss.
///This conversation occurs simultaneously with Zuko and Azula entering her bedroom.
"Is it true, the fire lord is here and Azula slapped him?"
"Yes, Miso, the fire lord is here. He's upstairs with Princess Azula".
"How could you let that happen?"
Yaki moved closer to Miso and lowered his voice, "What was I supposed to do little brother?"
"Stop him, I would have." Miso turned to start walking up the stairs.
Yaki grabbed Miso's arm. "Don't interfere. Azula can handle herself. She told me to stand down."
"We thought Soba could handle herself."
"The fire lord isn't Grodd. The fire lord actually loves Azula, unlike Grodd who just wanted to posses Soba."
"Love, he didn't even listen to her. I even tried to plead on her behalf. He tossed her on this island hoping people would forget about her. He only came to investigate a work incident."
"You didn't see the way he looked at her before he realized I was there. I have seen the way man looks at a woman when he loves her that’s how the fire lord looked at her. It wasn’t for a long time but I know what I saw. He looked at her the way dad looks at mom whenever she returns from doing missionary work."
"Did she look at him like mom looks at dad?"
"No, she looked pissed as hell." Yaki smirked. "She has a right to be pissed. Let them be, the only thing I can see stopping them getting back together is his pride and honor and her anger. The fire lord’s honor has been damaged. He's trying to save face despite his feelings. Right now he's too proud to ask her back. The fire lord just better realize his pride and honor are in the way before it's too late. If she stays angry too long she won’t take him back." Yaki smiled. "If he doesn't realize he’s a fool I'll make her forget about him."
“I’ll wait until the maids finish cleaning the second floor. If Fire Lord Zuko is not downstairs by then I’ll make him leave.”
////////////
Zuko stared at Azula. It felt like a dream. Being away from her for 31 days felt like 31 years. "Come on it's time to get up Zuzu." Azula tried to pull away.
"No, just a few more minutes. " He kissed her forehead.
"Zuzu, we've been in here long enough. It's bad enough you couldn't wait for two months. Now you”
"It's your fault."
"How is my fault? I stuck to the plan." Her scowl had returned.
Zuko placed a finger on her lips. "You told me you loved me." Her scowl transformed into something different, it was a strange mixture of sadness, guilt, and bashfulness. It was confusing but welcomed. She didn't appear angry or deny the importance of the statement. Even if Azula didn't mean to say, "I love you" that day she did mean it, or at least that’s how Zuko took her response. The fire lord knew his sister was quick witted, she would have quickly snarked her way out of it if she wanted. Instead his wife was speechless. Her eyes shift away as she moved away from him.
Zuko pulled her back to him. Letting her go was not an option. The pain of the words she spoke coupled with her not saying good-bye plagued him. "I waited for you on the Azuroh, but you never came. We didn't get to say good-bye."
"Zuzu, what would you've done if I had boarded the Azuroh with you there?'"
"I, I"
Azula read the constipated look on Zuko's face. She placed a finger between his brow lines. "You weren't thinking with your brain that day. Zuzu as usual you failed to think ahead. Chances are you wouldn't have let me leave. If you did let me leave your true feelings would have shown. Either way our plan would be foiled." She intertwined her fingers with his. "We both agreed that if we suspected that the assassins were working with someone on the inside we'd do what we'd had to do to flush them out. We've known since Rinji's murder someone on the inside has been helping the Crows. Neither of us believed he killed himself. We also agreed that if my visits with dad were to be exposed and I was accused of being a traitor I'd be treated as one. You've known about my visits with dad since we confessed our secrets on Ember Island, but no one else knew. Dad was willing to help me as long as it looked like I was undermining you. You giving me a free pass wouldn’t work. Now we look divided. Our enemies will think we're weakened, and make"
Zuko pulled her as close to him as possible. His grip had the same feel of desperation he had the night he asked her to stay with him. The fire lord was worried and his princess could feel it. It meant two things to Azula: he did love her and he wasn't going to stick to the plan 100%. She smiled, and then sighed. "People will start to talk if we don't leave soon."
"What if I said I don't care?" He saw her frown. "I'm kidding, we can get up after one more" his lips brushed against hers.
Knock. Knock. "Azula", yelled Miso.
His muffled voice breached the bedroom. "See, I told you people would get suspicious."
"Your waterbender doesn't count." Zuko got off the bed. "He's always suspicious when it comes to me." Zuko made sure his clothes looked OK before opening the door. "What do you want?” snapped Zuko as he opened the door.
"Princess Azula," Miso tried to investigate the situation over Zuko's shoulder. He saw Azula appear behind Zuko. Then Zuko came flying out the door.
Azula had pushed Zuko into the hall. She slammed the door on Miso and Zuko. Her muffled voice travelled into the hall. "Fire Lord Zuko I'll meet you in the old war room."
A scowl formed on Zuko's face. He pushed passed Miso and walked down the hall. Miso knocked on Azula's door, but she wouldn't open it. She sent him away. The waterbender was only a few steps behind Zuko by the time they reached the top of the second floor stairs. Yaki saw their faces and laughed earning him angry looks from both men.
"What so funny Lt. Lee?" Zuko asked the question with all the intimidation of a threat.
"Forgive me, Fire Lord Zuko, I just figured out a joke one the guards told. A waterbender, a firebender, and an earthbender walk into a bar".
"If you have time to stand around and think about jokes, your services aren't necessary." Zuko's glare was still locked onto to Yaki.
"Believe me I take my duties to Princess Azula very seriously", Yaki bowed "forgive me, I was not making light of the situation or my services."
Zuko turned away. There was finally someone else on the island he liked less than Miso. "Fire Lord Zuko, " Miso called out to Zuko. Zuko sighed. Yaki shook his head warning his brother not to speak. Zuko turned and scowled at Miso. Miso took a deep breath. "I hear your here to investigate the explosion." Zuko didn't say anything. Miso took a step down closer to Zuko. He looked from Zuko to Yaki and then back to Zuko. "I was one of the first on the scene. I'll be happy to answer any of your questions."
Zuko turned and began walking down the steps. "Col Yar is setting up interviews talk with her first." Zuko continued down the stairs.
Once Zuko was out hearing range Yaki placed his hand on Miso's shoulder. "Little brother now is not the time. They need time."
"You don't know what it as like. Fire Lord Zuko has a way of hurting Azula more than anyone. I've seen first hand the negative impact his anger and resentment can have on her. Sometimes he reminded me of Grodd. The fire lord is angry again, which is dangerous for Azula."
"I'm pretty sure Azula is the one in control this time," Yaki smiled, "of the both of you. If we interfere now, we can do more damage."
"Last time we didn’t do enough and our sister died. I don't want to see that happen to Azula."
Yaki read the worry on Miso's face. Azula reminded him of Soba as well, but he also saw how different they were. “Soba hid the truth from us. Azula is not Soba and Zuko is not Grodd. Don't worry; I'll be Azula's shield. She did choose me to be her bodyguard. If I suspect any wrong doing on the fire lord's part I won't hesitate to cut him down."
The brothers looked up and saw Azula coming down the stairs. She'd changed into one of the military like travel outfits Zuko had brought from a previous visit. Today Azula hoped the outfit would have its original intended effect on Zuko. The original purpose of the outfit was to cover her from neck-to-toe and calm Zuko's urges. The princess had also pinned her hair up. Azula eyed the siblings. "I told you two not to hang around each other in public when I am not around." Yaki and Miso had the same eyes and similar smile, but Yaki favored their father while Miso looked more like their mother. It helped that Yaki was of a lighter complexion and had a traditional short spiky Fire Nation beard compared to Miso's Water Tribe like goatee. "The last thing we need is for people to start identifying similarities."
"Sorry, Princess Azula, we were just chatting with your husband." Yaki saw her frown. "Don't worry he was too angry to see any similarities. I think he's going to fire me though. He's looked at me twice like he's going to kill me and that was before I even spoke to him."
"Don't worry, I'll handle Zuko."
"I'm sure you will." Yaki smirked.
"Does that mean you've talked to him about returning to the palace?"
"No, Miso, I told you before. All I care about is finding the Crows. I am not wasting time or energy on convincing Zuko about anything." Her jaw tightened. "He was a fool for not believing me in the first place. Let's go Lt. Lee. The faster we give the fire lord what he wants the faster he'll leave."
//////////////
Zuko was more than a little perturb when Azula and Yaki arrived. "What's he doing here?"
"Lt. Lee is my personal bodyguard. I am sure Li or Lo mentioned him in a report."
"No, they didn’t." Zuko turned his attention to the tall guard. "Go wait down the hall." Yaki didn't move. He instead looked at Azula. She smiled. Zuko frowned. The fire lord stepped closer to the bodyguard. "I gave you an order." Again Yaki stood his ground.
"Lt. Lee, go to the end of the hall and wait for my next command." Yaki promptly turned to leave. Before he exited the room he heard Azula say, "He only listens to me. That's something you should remember Fire Lord Zuko”.
Yaki smiled at the thought that Azula used him to threaten Zuko. It gave him peace of mind about leaving Zuko and Azula alone. "Azula can handle Fire Lord Zuko", Yaki whispered as walked to the end of the short hallway.
"Princess Azula, if I didn't know better I’d think you were threatening me." Zuko pulled out a chair for Azula.
"I am just stating a fact, Fire Lord Zuko." She smiled as she sat. "I chose him because he's powerful and he listens."
"I don't like him." He took her hand. "Maybe that's why you picked him." He caressed her finger with his thumb. "I miss talking to you. It's lonely in the palace without you."
"Really, I am sure you can find someone to talk too. I am surprised someone hasn't tried to take my place."
He kissed the back of her hand. "No one can take your place."
"I know that. I am surprised your little friend hadn't come to visit, I mean to comfort you."
"No, never, you know I wouldn't. I’ve avoided any contact with her. You believe me, don't you?"
Azula could her the plea in his voice. "Zuko, you're missing the point. How are we going to trap the tramp if you don’t' have contact with her. She has something to do with dad, the poisoning, or both. I've caught her spying on us too many times. At first I thought it was about you, but it's more than that. Remember I can read people and that girl is trouble."
"I think you're right. That's another reason I came. Uncle told me he saw you once, or at least he believed it was you, carrying wine or something from dad's cell. The girl had on a red hood but was around your height and build. I knew it wasn't you. My guess is it was Saikura. I'll lay the trap, if".
She lightly caressed his cheek "Don't worry I trust you Zuzu."
He took her hand kissing it lightly before leaning in and kissing her on the lips. "And I trust you, my fiery fire ferret". Azula frowned. "C'mon Azula that's a good one. What's not to like about a fire ferret? You even wanted one when we were kids."
"I had one for less than two days. Dad thought it was worthless because fire ferrets can't be used for protection. Mom said it was one step up from an elephant rat with rabies. So dad took it to a special place, which means he killed it or he had someone else to kill it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. "
"Sorry, I forgot."
"You weren't there. You were with uncle. He took you to see Lu-Ten's ship. "
"Oh wondered why you seemed sad when I came back. I just assumed it was because you didn't get to with uncle and me. " Zuko wondered how much he'd missed of Azula's past. They lived in the same palace but led different lives. "Azula if I'd known".
"Drop it Zuko, this isn't the time to reminisce. You need to get back to the palace and lay your trap."
"I can stay little longer. I just got here."
"Two days"
"What?"
"I'm giving you two days. Then you'll leave and stick to the plan."
"I can stay longer. Who knows how long the investigation can take." Zuko smirked.
"No, you'll fall out of character and foil our plan. I'll give you a test. If you pass you can stay as long as you like, but if you fail you'll leave in two days."
"What kind of test?"
"I want you to interview Lt. Lee for "your investigation". If you are able to hide all your emotions during the interview you can stay, but if not you'll leave."
"Fine, just because I don't like him doesn't mean I can't hide my dislike."
"Then it's a deal. I'll have him to come in now." Azula stood. She tapped her finger against her chin. "I think I know why you don't like Lt. Lee." She smirked. "He's not a Fire Nation solider he's Miso's brother." Azula saw Zuko's jaw drop.
"Fine". Zuko's jaw tightened.
"Good because it's a secret. You can't let him know you know." Azula turned and walked to the door. She looked over her shoulder at Zuko. "They're very different. It took Miso six months to ask the girl he loved to marry him. It took his brother less than six minutes to ask me if I was happy in my marriage." Zuko was visibly upset by the tidbit about Yaki. Azula walked into the hall and gestured for Yaki.
Zuko did his best to compose himself when Miso's brother arrived. "Take a seat lieutenant, Lee right." Zuko tried to ignore how close Azula sat next to Yaki. "What can you tell me about the explosion?"
"I wasn't there, but from what I saw and heard after the explosion, it came down to two idiots. They blow up the juice-processing machine because they did not follow the proper maintenance process. It would've been a lot worse if Miso hadn’t put out the fire. "
"You're referring to your comrades as idiots. Where were you when it happen?"
"I didn't know them. I am just being honest. They're idiots if they can follow a simple maintenance manual. As for where I was, I was with Princess Azula. That is where I always am."
"You're always with her". Zuko looked at Azula while he spoke.
"Not always but I am with her more than anyone else. At night she’s in the care of the female guards, but all she needs to do is call and I’ll be there.”
Azula placed her hand on Yaki's shoulder. "You see Lt. Lee is my shield, Fire Lord Zuko".
"Your what?" Zuko's emphasis on what was telling to Azula.
"Tell him Lee, what you told me about being my shield so the fire lord can understand."
"I told Princess Azula that I would be her shield. I will protect until she does not need me. I will protect from any threat." Yaki glared at Zuko,”I will stop anyone from harming her."
Zuko glared back. His fist tightened. The two men were locked in a stare down. Neither was going to back down.
Azula stood and cleared her throat catching both men's attention. "I think the interview has gone on long enough. Lt. Lee, wait for me down the hall. I need to have a word with Fire Lord Zuko. Don't worry it won't take long."
Zuko was still upset after Yaki left. Azula had a smirk on her face. The fire lord walked over to his princess. "What was that about Azula? He's your shield, threating me. Lt Lee doesn't seem like a Taiyo Sun member."
"He's not that's best part. You lose Zuko."
"That wasn't a fair. How was I supposed to act? He challenged me. You knew that would happen."
"Yes, I did."
"You want me leave that bad."
Her eyes shifted away. "No", she turned from him, "but you can't stay. Two days Fire Lord Zuko", Azula walked out the room.
