A Life On The Line
Chapter 1: Seeing Double
In the dark of the night, throughout the concrete isle of w:st="on">Manhattan, there was a terrific storm. Very few people were out this night because of the rain and thunder. Some of the clan, although they also shared the human's desire to remain indoors, knew they would have to do at least some patrolling tonight.
Overhead in the cloudy sky, the thunder cracked and the lightning spewed again and again. Each time, the lightning bolts grew closer and closer together until finally...
[CRASH!]
The thunder bellowed its loudest roar yet, which echoed throughout all of w:st="on">Manhattan, and when it finally settled... strangers had arrived in Manhattan.
"What in blazes?!" a rough voice growled.
From the rooftop of a large skyscraper, five individuals lay moaning, the rain beating down upon them.
At first glance, they appeared to be that of the clan, but upon a second closer look, there was no doubt that these beings, if being was the appropriate word for them, were definitely NOT Goliath's clan.
The one who resembled Hudson wore only a loincloth like the others, and did not carry a sword. Both of his eyes were intact and healthy, and he had a rather long and ugly scar that travelled all across his chest.
The one resembling Goliath looked exactly like his counterpart, aside from a small scar over his right eye. Other than that, they were completely alike.
The Broadway double’s ears were both tattered, as though they had been through a shredder, one of his front fangs were missing, and he didn’t, unbelievably, have as big a gut as Broadway did. They were more or less the same mass as one another, except where Broadway mass was due to his obscene weight, this one was due to his incredible muscle.
The Brooklyn double had had one of his horns ribbed off, and his right eye was completely blinded, with a long scar struck across it.
The Lexington double also had small scars all over him, but at first appeared no more different than the original, except… his left ear was missing, looking as though it had been sliced right off.
"Where in hell are we?!" the Lexington double snarled.
"Pipe down, whelp!"
"What happened, Adhamh?" the second Goliath asked the w:st="on">Hudson look-alike.
Adhamh frowned. "I'd be damned if I... "
"Wait! Over there." the Brooklyn double quickly pointed over to the sky. "Check that out!"
Adhamh followed his gaze, and his eyes widened upon seeing what the beaked warrior saw. "Everyone, take over!" he ordered, his clan hurrying to obey.
From beyond in the rainy sky, two silhouettes made their way through the raindrops spitting in their faces.
"Trust us to get caught out in the rain!" w:st="on">Lexington spat.
"Just shut up and let's hurry home! I could do with a hot drink right about now!" Brooklyn replied. As they left to return home, neither of them ever noticed the five strangers eyeing them in secret.
"What do you make of that, eh, leader?"
Adhamh merely had a confused scowl upon his face. "Don't ask me, lads," he said. "But something tells me we ain't in Kansas no more." He looked around. "That lightning bolt that hit us... It must have transported us somehow. To where, I don't know, but wherever it is, apparently we are not the only ones of our kind here... or the only ones of ourselves."
He then grinned. "This could prove most beneficiary," he deduced. "The humans were getting too close for comfort to us. They had already tracked us down to our last two hideouts. Here... we may just have the beginning of a new start!"
The five of them all smirked, laughing shrewdly between them.

Brooklyn and Lexington landed in the courtyard of Castle Wyvern and hurried inside. Goliath was not there, as he was most likely with Elisa either on patrol or at her place. Broadway was with Angela in the kitchen, and Bronx was with w:st="on">Hudson, watching TV.
The storm flashed brightly, so much so that it was almost like the magical storm that Macbeth had summoned, which had brought Arthur and Griff to Manhattan.
However, neither Brooklyn nor Lexington cared for that at the moment, as Brooklyn headed for the kitchen to get that hot drink he'd been wanting for a while, never suspecting who he and his rookery brother had nearly run into a short while ago.

Few Days Later:
Within the next few days, the clan had been under an unusual amount of work lately, as had Elisa. There had been an alarming rate of disappearances and horrific murders.
More than a few women had gone missing, most were still unfound, but the bodies of a few had been located around the city. From what the medical examiner's had deduced, the poor women had definitely been raped, their bodies mutilated in a number of ways. Some had been crushed, while others had been literally ripped apart.
Elisa was now one of the detectives in charge of the investigation, and the clan had been doing their bit by patrolling the city more vigorously, night after night.
So far, neither the clan nor the police had had any leads. Whoever the mass murderer was, for the time being he was safe.

Several More Days Later;
Abandoned Warehouse:
The alter-trio sniggered nastily at all the murders and rapes they'd committed. The memories of all the women that they had captured in their minds, as they had all struggled with futile efforts. Even now, two girls were laid down, chained to the floor, their eyes filled with tears, as they cried pitifully for mercy.
From over in the far corner, the alternate clan's Goliath lay in a drunken heap, his loincloth thrown over to the centre of the room. He lay on a bunch of old carpets and blankets, along with a third girl who lay motionless beneath his body. The end result of a wild night for him.
This Goliath was the only one out of this entire alternate clan that bore the same name as his double. But although they looked alike, and had the same name, there was nothing identical about the two Goliaths. This Goliath cared nothing for honour, integrity or protecting. His only pleasure was in the intake of wine, the heat of battle, and making merry with whatever female he could find.
The only sound he made at that moment was a loud hiccup from all the wine he had consumed that night, having already gone through two barrels that he had stolen from some club downtown.
As for the rest of them, none of the trio had names, but Adhamh, the w:st="on">Hudson double, had his own, which he had chosen for its meaning. The name Adhamh was Scottish for 'Red Earth', which he chosen to symbolise the earth that he had soaked with the blood from his enemies.
Adhamh smirked down at the bound human females, struggling in vain to escape. "Thirsty, wenches?" he laughed, as he took a can of Larger that he had been drinking out of, and began pouring it down their mouths and over their chests. "Help yourselves!"
The whole clan laughed, as the women coughed and spat the beer from their mouths, and the liquid soaked what was left of their fabric upon them. The dark twins of Brooklyn and Lexington were quick to act, as they came down upon the women, their tongues licking off every drop of beer from their bodies, and their fangs ripping off whatever material they had left to cover them.
The women sobbed, as the beasts fell on them.
"Like that, wench?"
"Bet you never thought your first time would be anything like this, did you?"
The red and the green one did not cease in their fondling of them, their claws caressing every part of their bodies. Even Adhamh, although he was long since past his time of mating, took some part in the amusement, his tail stroking their pussies.
The only one not taking part was the double of Broadway. He had spent most of the evening watching some old detective movies, and eating a mass of snacks that he had stolen from various shops. These habits of his were the two only things that he had in common with his counterpart, this world's Broadway.
Both this Broadway and the other had equally large appetites, but the one difference was that the instant this Broadway ate something, he immediately began to burn off whatever weight he might have consumed by doing many exercises. As a result, he had quite the gigantic stature of muscle.
The alternate Broadway gave a low growl and moan, as he got up from the TV he had been watching, stretching himself as he did so. His impressive muscles grew and expanded, as he flexed them. Their width and strength were even equal to that of their leader, Goliath.
He had enjoyed a quiet evening of watching some of the entertainment that this world's TV had to offer, but now he was rested enough. He yearned to go out for a glide, find a human or few to do battle with... and find a woman to vex his lust with.
The rest of them were busy enjoying their own activities, so he made himself scarce, leaving by the window, gliding into the night.
Broadway had just finished his patrol of downtown, but so far his search had the same results as before and with the others... nothing.
He was now, at the moment, heading over to Elisa's apartment. He had rarely seen her the last few nights because of her investigation into the murders, and whenever she had some free time she obviously spent it with Goliath. But Goliath was still busy patrolling tonight, so maybe he could finally have a chance to say hello and catch up.
He started heading over to Elisa's apartment, little suspecting of the curious eyes that were even now following his every move.
Broadway landed at Elisa’s loft and slid open the window she always left unlocked for them.
This came in handy, especially if he was hungry and wanted to raid her refrigerator, like tonight. He stepped through and saw Elisa standing at the stove.
"Hey, Elisa?" he said cheerfully. "Sorry for barging in like this, but I thought I'd stop by and say hello."
She looked up from what she was cooking, smiling. "No problem, Broadway. Make yourself at home, and I'll throw on a couple of steaks."
"Thanks!" Broadway replied, his beaming face showing its gratitude.
While she continued with what she was doing at the stove, he stepped slowly around the apartment before settling on the couch, its springs creaking in protest at his mass weight.
A lot of this scene reminded him all too terribly of another night when he had stopped by Elisa's home, and had ended up playing with her gun, resulting in her getting a bullet in the back and a near death experience at the hospital. It was a night he wanted nothing more than to forget, yet the dark memory of it was forever at the back of his mind.
Fortunately, both he and Elisa had learnt their lessons well that night. Since then, Elisa had always made sure to hide her gun at home, and never leave it out where anyone could get at it again, and Broadway would not even touch a gun, let alone use one again. Even in the heat of battle, he still refused to use one, and would only touch one whenever he was disarming an opponent.
Elisa soon finished the steaks and brought them over. They spent the next few minutes eating and chatting over everything they had both been up to lately, leaving out the parts of the investigation and the murders, as that did not make friendly dinner talk.
Broadway soon finished his meal in record time, giving off a healthy belch as thanks. "Thanks, Elisa!" he said.
"You're welcome," she smiled, though inwardly wishing Broadway would learn better table manners.
"Well, I'd better be off," her friend added. "Angela's expected me back any minute now."
"Ah, the angry wife beckons," Elisa smirked, making Broadway blush.
"We're not husband and wife... “He remarked, but smiled a second later and added, "... yet. But seriously, I'd better go. I only came by to stop and see how you were."
"No problem. It was good to see you. Give my love to everyone back at the Eyrie."
Broadway waved goodbye at her, and left through the window, catching the first updraft home. Elisa didn't bother closing the window, as they were on the top floor, and there was no scaffolding outside, so there was no fear of burglars.
It had been a long day of seemingly endless paperwork from the murder cases, and she was all too happy to let the soothing touch of hot water run through her raven-black hair and down her back, to wash away all the stress of phone-calls from the worried families, filling out reports, and thoughts of where the poor girls could be.
However, she was unaware that at that moment, someone had her under surveillance, as she shed her clothes.
The dark twin of Broadway entered the apartment the way he’d seen his counterpart do it… stepping through the open window which was convenient for him otherwise he would’ve had to break it had it been locked. He walked slowly in the direction he’d seen Elisa heading and waited like a lion lying in ambush for its prey.
Elisa stepped under the hot spray, enjoying the sheer bliss of the water, as it seemed to melt away all the tension and stress that she had built up that day.
She took the soap, lathering it up in her hands and washing it all over her body. She moaned in pleasure, as she soaped her breasts, rubbing her hands down and all around her body.
She was about to lather up some more soap, when the soap-bar slipped through her hands, dropping into the bathtub. She had just bent over to pick it up, when... a hand grabbed her between her legs.
Squealing, she shot herself up, as she straightened her back, but the hand stayed where it was, clutching her bottom, squeezing it none too gently. In fact, the hand not only stayed where it was, but began to lift her up into the air, as though she weighed nothing more than a cloth.
Elisa yelled, as she twisted her head to the side, to lay eyes on her assaulter, but was in for a nasty shock when she did.
The shock was so fierce and sudden that she didn't have enough time to view all the differences there were in her attacker. All she could see at that moment was an eerily familiar face, well known to her...
"Broa... Broadway?" she stuttered. It couldn't be? Broadway had just left, unless her eyes were playing tricks on her.
Her attacker just grinned at her. "Hello, lovely."
There was something about the look in his eyes that told her he was not there for a friendly chat.
