Disclaimer: I do not own Invader Zim, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Author's Note: This is completely and totally for Forbidden Secrets who breathed life into this pairing. If not I don't think any one would have even glanced at something like it. So this is the first, and probably only ZASR(Zim and Spork romance). There's not really much plot, but as you all know plot doesn't necessarily make a story. Sometimes all you need is a theme and a mood. Hopefully it will be enough for this. Also bear in mind that this is faaar before Red and Purple become Tallest and Zim is still fairly young. So he will act a little differently but hopefully not to much. I don't much like the way it turned out but I hope it is well received and hope to hear what you think. This is;
Disaster
Disaster. That was the best description that came to mind when one thought of Zim. The extremely small Irken was undoubtedly more than a little crazy. It was admittedly something that put a lot of people off of the little one. Those that were brave enough to get close to the Military Scientist were either of the same mind frame themselves or held no fear of death. Because death was almost a certainty when even entering the same breathing space as the walking maelstrom. There was however a brave few, who had dared challenge fate and survived. They were the Scientist's most precious friends. One of them was so much more than that though, which brings us to our current situation.
“Settle down Zim or you'll ruin the surprise,” The much Taller Irken beside the afore mentioned Irken chuckled. The brave soul beside Zim was indeed tall, at roughly 13 marks he was in line to succeed the current Tallest, Miyuki. Strange sharp gold eyes were smiling at the little one's enthusiasm and antennae leaned forward casually. He wore long robes befitting of his station, coloured in grey accordingly to his career. As an Advisor it allowed him great privileges, one of which he was abusing at the moment.
“'Kay. I just really missed you Spork,” Zim said shyly. He was still a little unsure of how to act in front of the Taller. Spork was a lot different than he had imagined and quite different from other Tall Irkens. The gold eyed one was so patient and kind with him. It made him feel special in a way that no other had ever done. It made his squeedlyspooch tingle to just stand next to the other now. Of course the fact that the Taller had kissed him probably played a part in that. The kiss had been unexpected but not unwelcome. He blushed lightly as he remembered the feeling that had swept through him when their lips had touched....
“I miss you as well. I wish I could be here more but Tallest Miyuki unfortunately keeps me rather busy running around the galaxy. Ah, here we are,” Spork said softly, motioning to a door in front of them. Zim looked on curiously. He had never been to this part of the Research Facility before. He was strictly forbidden from entering this area though he didn't know why. He didn't question the order, he just stuck to his job which he enjoyed immensely. It wasn't often that you found a job where you got to blow things up and make new things to destroy vast amounts of stuff and get payed for it.
Spork typed something into the door panel and stepped aside to let Zim enter first. The room was dark and completely abandoned. The Taller one stepped inside, smile on his face as he watched Zim's face light up with wonder and life. The past little while he had noticed that the smaller one was starting to look defeated and loosing some of his usual zeal. While most would consider Zim being toned down a good thing, Spork knew better. He knew it was when the little one got quite that there was something really wrong.
“Pretty....” Zim whispered as he pressed his hand against the bottom of the window. He wasn't quite tall enough to see all the way over the bottom ledge but what he could see was worth the sacrifice. On the Research Station there were very few windows, and all of which were stationed in places that Zim wasn't aloud to go. After almost a year without seeing the sky or the vastness of space he was starting to think he was going to go crazy. Dark pink eyes took in everything hungrily, knowing that he would not get another chance like this anytime soon. It was the price he had to pay to be a Scientist, to be forever locked away from society so that he wasn't disturbed by distractions.
“Up you go,” Spork murmured, hefting the other up easily and resting him against his broader shoulders. Zim's eyes widened slightly at the sudden shift and then took a real look out the window. His breath caught in his throat as he stared out with pure wonder. The entireness of space had always held his soul captive. There was just so much of it, and he wanted it all. He wanted to become an Invader and make the Empire proud, wanted to make Spork proud.
“I want that one… no I want that one… no… I want them all!”* Zim grinned, bracing one arm on a grey clad shoulder. He reached for the window, brushing his gloved hand along the cool length as if he could really reach out and touch the millions of stars, planets and other things that existed in the hugeness that was space.
“Ah… sure…”** Spork said, a little unsure. That wasn't quite the response he had been expecting. The one in his arms turned in his grip and tilted his chin so that they were looking eye to eye. Burnt gold met with dark pink and for a moment the world melted away. Unable to resist, a small gentle smile broke out across the Taller's face and he loosened his grip on the Scientist, letting the other drop down a little ways. He hugged a little tighter before slowly and softly pressing his lips against the other. Zim moaned quietly into the kiss, his fingers tightening into the grey fabric.
Spork sank to the floor, his legs unwilling to hold both of their weight as they kissed. Lips teased one another and tongues tentatively brushed. The small one moaned a little louder and pressed deeper into the kiss, one hand lightly scratching the back of the other's neck. He bravely raised the other up to carefully run his fingers along a graceful antenna. A low rumbling groan was his reward and the other all but purred into the kiss.
Spork suddenly took control of the kiss, plundering the other's mouth passionately. The tiny Scientist whimpered as strong arms suddenly wrapped around his shoulders and pulled him away from the heated kiss. Just as he was about to protest the lack of smooching he felt hot lips descend on his neck. He gasped as the lips kissed their way down, nimble fingers undoing clasps to the Scientist's smock. As a greater path was exposed the lips moved their way down further before traveling back up, this time nibbling and sucking teasingly. Zim moaned fully, regaining enough of his senses to start returning some of the gestures. He reached up and started to stroke the antenna again, massaging the base and then drawing his fingers along the stiff blackness.
The Taller one bit down, sucking while the hand that had started to undo the smock finished its job. He trailed his fingers down soft material and dipped underneath, ghosting across shivering skin. Small gasps and quiet moans were drawn out of the smaller one as Spork continued to rub and suck. Never before had Zim felt anything like it, tingles and fire coursed through him as the Taller continued to bestow such tender touches upon him. It made his mind float away from reality, letting the sensations of what was happening carry him away. It didn't matter that they were from opposite ends of society, that their caring for each other was heavily frowned upon. All that mattered was that they were together.
Zim managed to nuzzle his head underneath Spork's chin and kissed him there. The hand on his side stilled and they stayed like that for a moment, just basking in each other's presence. He took the opportunity to think about what they were doing, what they were probably about to do. Was this... whatever they were doing, was this what he wanted? Did Spork.... did Spork want more? More of this new touch, new but oh so wonderful touch? Being impulsive was something that he was very good at. He went with his strengths and hoped it wouldn't land him in trouble like it tended to do.
Zim pushed the other back, standing so that they were almost eye to eye. He stared into burnt golden eyes until he found what he was looking for. He was so glad that Spork was as patient with him as he was. He grinned toothily and leaned in, his magenta eyes half lidded.
“Zim is going to do baaaaad things to you,” Zim smirked. He casually pulled his gloves off, tossing them aside. He ran his hand along the side of the other's face, smiling at the warmth he saw reflected back at him. He cupped the Taller one's face lovingly and closed his eyes as he gently pressed their lips together once more. Spork let the smaller Irken control the tender kiss for a moment, smiling to himself as he thought of all the things he was going to do to the other. He was happy.... beyond happy to share even simple things with the other. He didn't know quite what it was but something about Zim drew him in like a magnet.
“Good bad things?” Spork asked, his own smirk lighting his eyes with mischief. He growled playfully and pulled the other flush against him once more. A light blush spread across the smaller one's face and he felt a rush go through his veins knowing that he was the one causing such a reaction in Zim. That only he could make Zim's face light up in a happiness that wasn't destruction induced.
He pulled off his own gloves and took Zim's hand in his own. Such an intimate touch, holding someone's ungloved hand in your own. It was a thing not many other species could understand. They didn't see what was so special. Couldn't possibly understand the trust that was necessary for Irkens to touch one another in caring ways.
He held the hand lovingly while his other hand pressed their bodies closer together. He grinned and bent forward, taking the tip of a wayward antenna into his mouth. The smaller one in his lap froze as the delicate appendage was lavished with attentions that he had never thought to wonder about. A keening sound tumbled from his lips as he tried to form a sentence, a word. Anything to get the Taller one to do the same to the other antenna. He tried to reach up for the other's antennae but he couldn't quite touch. Instead he ran his claws down the other's back, coming underneath the PAK and slipping in between them. He curled his small hand in between them, searching for the clasps that held the other's robes together. Just as he started to undo them and reveal the plain black underclothes the Taller one let go of his crushing hold to use the hand to tease the other antenna.
Zim arched his back, gasping as the dual stimulation sent very wonderful tingles all down his spine. Dark pink eyes were wide as he mewled, tugging on the hand that was tightly gripped in the other's much larger hand. His other hand was dug deeply into the grey robes as he arched again when the Taller switched sides. He clung desperately as a heat spread through his body, pooling in his groin and belly. His pants felt tight as his body responded eagerly to the touches.
Spork pulled away and groaned at the sight of Zim arching deliciously in his lap. Eyes half lidded, cheeks flushed darkly he was the perfect picture of desire. He could feel light pants rolling across his face as the smaller one fought to regain himself. He wanted to see more off the other, touch, taste..... As the little one calmed down he pulled the white smock off completely and quickly worked the black undershirt off as well. Zim gasped and wrapped his arms around himself, embarrassed despite the situation. He had never bared so much skin to another being, ever.
The Taller smiled and lovingly kissed the other on the forehead, unwrapping protective arms gently. His eyes widened slightly as he saw a large bruise spread across the other's chest. Dark black and blue marks spread across thickly, deep and long. Whatever had caused the bruise had certainly done a lot of damage for it not to have healed. Gold eyes narrowed at the blemish, promising pain to the one who would dare hurt his loved one. His eyes softened as he saw the worried and pained look in magenta eyes. The little one turned his face away, covering the bruise with his arms. He had forgotten about the bruise, which was sort of amazing considering how badly it hurt. He knew that Spork would be disappointed in him for not being able to protect himself properly. He should have been able to use his training as a cadet to fend off most enemies.
“Zim... who did this to you?” Spork whispered gently, not wanting to upset the other further. He pushed his anger aside, not wanting it to affect the situation. He only hoped that Zim would be okay with telling him what happened. The small Scientist was renown for keeping his attackers safe.
“Zim fell,” Zim said, tightening his arms just a little more. Why hadn't he stopped the other from taking off his shirt? Because he had been to caught up in the feelings again. Stupid feelings, why did they have to be so strong?
“I don't think you fell. Please, tell me Zim. I don't want you to get hurt, I care about you,” Spork said. And more than I should, he thought to himself as he turned a stubborn chin so that they could see each others eyes once more. He let the littler one know without words that he wasn't upset with him. Zim needed so much reassurance.....
“Got pushed into a table,” Zim admitted, turning his eyes down. If Spork wasn't ashamed of him then he would have to be ashamed for the Taller Irken. It wasn't proper that he had been injured in a Research Lab by an other Scientist.
“And who pushed you?” Spork asked, wrapping his long arms around the other. He held carefully, reaching up and petting shaky antennae. He kissed the top of the other's head, simple things to let the smaller one know that no matter what was said that he would be there for him.
“Lard Nar,” Zim confessed, feeling low for telling. He hated telling about when someone hurt him. It always ended with the Taller getting very angry and either demoting someone or beating the life out of them.
“I see,” Spork said icily. He hugged the other tightly as he thought of what he should to do this Lard Nar fellow.
“He didn't mean to! Just.... he got upset when Zim's experiment ate his....” Zim defended, trying to make it seem like it wasn't as bad as it was sounding. Whenever Spork got upset he took it out on the one who had made him upset. The problem was that when someone hurt him it made the Taller upset, which unfortunately happened a lot.
“Violence is not acceptable behavior on a Research Station,” Spork said, knocking down the defence. He would not have someone who had hurt his loved one go unpunished. He clung to the other tightly, wondering why so many tried to hurt the little one. He knew that Zim had a tendency to destroy things but that was no reason to target him like so many did.
“....Oh,” Zim murmured, curling his claws into the robes. He let his head rest on the other's chest as he thought briefly about what had almost happened. He squirmed a little, his body coming down slowly from the pleasurable rush that he had gotten.
“Come on, lets get your shirt back on,” Spork said quietly. He leaned back, slowly uncurling his arms from the other. He didn't want to push the little one when he was hurt. He knew Zim could take quite a beating and still fight on, still pretend that everything was alright.
“No. Zim wants.... I want this,” Zim stated firmly, tugging on the half opened robes. He wasn't going to let some little bruise ruin his time with Spork. Since he had left Devastis to become a Scientist he hadn't had the chance to spend nearly as much time with the Taller as he would have liked. When he was a cadet it was easy, the other was stationed on the same planet in the same section. The Taller had been the overseer of the training facilities.
“I don't want you to push your-” Spork tried to argue with the other, tried to get him to see reason. He took the small hands in his own, trying to get them to let go of grey cloth.
“No! I hardly get to see you!” Zim shouted and used his grip on the Taller's robes to pull the other into a soul searing kiss. He poured everything he felt into the kiss, trying to convey just how he felt. He couldn't find the words to say what he needed to tell the other. He pulled away, lips still touching as he whispered, “Don't leave Zim.” A lone tear trickled down his cheek and he pressed their foreheads together. He couldn't be left alone again.
“I don't want to hurt you,” Spork admitted, whispering as he pulled back to wipe away the tear. Hurting the smaller one was the last thing he wanted to do. He would do anything to keep from hurting the other. Which meant putting the Scientist before himself. No matter how much he desired the shorter one.
“Zim will not break,” Zim stated firmly, shifting in the other's lap. He could feel the Taller's form pressing against his own, could feel the results of his desire. He didn't want to say exactly what was on his mind, exactly what he wanted. After all, he didn't want the other to slip into shock.
Zim rocked against the other's larger body, bravely dipping his hands inside the half-opened robes. He let a confident smirk grace his lips and he found hungry burnt gold staring at him. He gulped and managed to keep the smirk on his face as he ran one hand along the black shirt he used the other to undo the last of the clasps. The robe half fell off without the clasps holding it in place and Spork shrugged it off, keeping his eyes on the Irken in front of him.
He grasped the other by the back of the neck, arching the small body and ran his tongue along the exposed line of skin. Every part was silky smooth. Small hands worked their way up the dark shirt, bunching it as the other continued their assault. Lips, tongue and teeth were all used, causing Zim to mewl pleadingly. Spork pulled away to admire his work, the little one looked ready to come undone. Antennae were twitching and eyes were heady. Zim smiled at him and he felt his squeedlyspooch melt. The other only ever looked at him like that. As he was admiring, the smaller one took the opportunity to divest the Taller of his shirt. The black garment was tossed over with its fellows and quickly forgotten.
Their boots were quickly discarded and Zim pushed himself back against Spork. He stood up on his tip toes, nipping at the strong jaw and neck. He mapped out both shoulders, dipping down his chest as he ran his hands along as well. Smooth skin was stroked and pet, evoking sighs and light moans of pleasure. He blushed lightly but tugged the black pants down over wider hips and down long lean legs. He tossed them aside and continued to move down. He kissed along hips and paused to eye the long member. He ran his fingers along it, looking up at the other when the Taller one hissed in pleasure. Grinning he wrapped his hand around as best he could and agonizingly slowly stroked up and then down. Spork groaned and nudged his hips up, trying to get Zim to pick up the pace. He growled when the shorter one didn't comply and tugged on the other one's only piece of clothing left.
Zim's cheeks was dark blue as he took a step back and slowly pulled his pants down, freeing an all to happy erection. He stood before the Taller, a little unsure now that he was completely bare. He gazed at his soon to be lover and grinned at him, trying to convey confidence.
Spork drank in the sight of the shorter's form. Large dark pink eyes, antennae just the right length, thin limbs with a small waist and petit hips. And that cockamamie grin... He leaned up and kissed the other lightly, entwining their hands together. He pulled the other close and smiled at him.
He held the other tightly as he ran his hands along the other's smaller form. He explored every little plain of skin, mapping out the other with his fingers. He skimmed passed the rock hard erection, ghosting along the slit behind it. When Zim keened and moved against the fingers he fought down a hungry grin. He ran his thumb along the slit, pleased when he heard a shaky groan. He continued to tease the opening, running his fingers back and forth, never pushing inside.
Zim arched against the fingers, delicious friction rubbing him all the right ways. He pulled carefully pulled on the other's antennae, stroking the smooth stalks much like he would stroke a different part of the Taller's body. He teased the tips, rolling them gently with his claws. He whined as the Spork pulled the fingers away, trailing them over to knead at one hip while the other massaged the spot just below the small PAK. A deft tongue darted out along his abdomen and trailed up, nipping along a small but strong collarbone. The shorter continued to play with the antennae, giving them one final tweak before slipping down to mold himself against the Taller's lean form.
Spork hissed as their naked bodies melded together so seamlessly. It was as if the Scientist was made to fit onto his lap. Bare heated lengths brushed against each other as they both pressed against one another. Zim gasped and rose up, tugging the other's head down to kiss deeply. As Spork was distracted by kissing him the shorter took the opportunity to grasp the large member. He stroked lightly, raising himself above the length he carefully positioned himself and inched down. Spork groaned into the kiss, pulling away to grasp quivering hips. Zim looked up at him, magenta eyes dark with desire.
His breath seized in his throat as he fought not to cry out in pain. He wanted this, he wouldn't let pain stop him. A whimper escaped him as Spork finally slid all the way inside. His breathing was coming in short breathy pants as he pushed away the pain of being stretched well beyond his limits. He gulped and pushed it further away as he saw the unrestrained look of rapture on the Taller's face. Golden eyes were closed and his mouth was partially open as he fought to contain himself for the smaller one's sake. It was so hard though. Such a tight welcoming heat, such perfection. He moaned shakily and opened his eyes to stare heatedly down at the one who was giving him such pleasure, at the one who had willingly offered to share his body.
“Spork is happy, yes?” Zim rambled, unable to stop a tear from rolling down his cheek. It stung and burned and hurt. Was it supposed to hurt? He didn't know, didn't care. All that mattered to him was that Spork was happy, that Spork was enjoying himself.
“Zim....” Spork breathed, unable to think of anything else to say to the little one in his lap.
“Because Zim is happy if Spork is happy,” Zim smiled, his eyes lighting up just a little. That was all that he wanted, was for Spork to be happy. He liked all the little things that they did together, but most of all it pleased him when the Taller was enjoying himself. To see that rare smile dance upon dark lips.
Spork leaned down and took the other's lips into a passionate kiss, letting the other know that he was beyond happy, because he was with him. Zim gasped into the kiss, letting the emotions portrayed in it overwhelm him. They washed over him like a cool balm, taking away lingering fears. The Taller shifted, moving inside of him. He whimpered and curled in, grasping bare shoulders tightly. The pain was lessening as his body began to get used to being stretched, being filled so completely.
The Taller pulled out, lifting the shorter one's hips. He eased back in, reveling in the welcoming warmth. He moaned as he felt the other cling to him. He continued the slow, gentle pace, rocking into Zim. He wanted this to be perfect, unforgettable.
A loud cry escaped the Scientist as nimble fingers tweaked the end of his antenna. He mewled pleadingly as the other continued to thrust into him. The pain had finally faded away, his body adjusted to the thick length pulsing inside of him. The friction, the movement of it all was a symbol of what they had gone through to get to the moment they now shared. His voice keened, unable to form words as the other started to move a little faster.
Breathy pants escaped between the little cries of pleasure, to Zim it seemed like the other's hands and mouth were everywhere. Touching him, pleasing him. Ecstasy was overwhelming him. It so much, to much. It pooled in his belly, building higher and higher. Everything blurred into another thing as the gentle thrusts came faster and harder, lifting his legs completely off of the floor.
Spork moaned loudly as he moved his hips up, faster and faster. Driving into the tightness that was above him. He ran his hands all over the small form, along sides, kneading hips, stroking the firm length and tweaking and petting antennae. Kisses were rained down in worship as he continued to rock into the smaller one's body. Familiar stars began to dance behind his eyes and he groaned, wanting to reach that almost elusive peak. Small hands clawed lightly, moving in time with the quickening thrusts.
Zim cried out, the little mewling noises fading away as everything became to much. It overloaded his senses, sweeping him away. His back was arched to an almost painful degree as he moved into the touches and thrusts that were taking him away. The building pressure exploded outwards, coursing through his entire body. Everything from his antennae to his toes tingled. Lights overtook his vision as a pleasure unlike anything else overtook him. He reached a completion that he had never felt before. Clear jelly spurted from his semi-neglected member, squishing between the two of them as Spork continued to thrust into him. He slumped bonelessly against the Taller, unable to find the strength to sit upright.
The Taller groaned as he felt the warm jelly hit his belly, the already tight heat squeezing just a little tighter as the shorter's muscles tensed for a moment before relaxing fully. He took petit hips and slammed into the other one last time. A low groan escaped him as he felt the pleasureyness complete him. There was nothing else, only he and Zim.
“I love you,” Spork whispered tenderly into unresponsive antennae. He curled around the shorter Irken protectively, lazily stroking his back. As their breathing calmed they kissed sloppily and pulled apart. The shorter Irken's breath caught in his throat as he heard the meaningful words fall past the other's lips. His eyes were wide as he gazed into the other's tired but satisfied eyes. He winced slightly as he felt the now soft, but still very large in his opinion, member slip out of his abused slit.
Spork nearly choked as he pulled out of Zim, beyond dismayed to see a few very faint streaks of blood coating his length. He had hurt the other... He knew he had been too Tall for the other but he had caved and now.... now Zim was hurt. He could see it in the way the small one moved, the almost hidden winces. How could he ever apologize for something like this?
“...I... I love you too,” Zim whispered back, a very small but very true smile on his face. The words had touched him so deeply, the knowledge that someone cared for him so strongly. Someone loved him for who he was.... It made his soul soar as he wove his hand into the grip of the Taller's. His eyes drooped tiredly and he held back a yawn. He had worn himself out with that stint but it was completely and totally worth it. So what if he was going to be tired during the presentation to Tallest Miyuki?
“Come here,” Spork ordered, his words pained as the other returned his untimely words of affection. He could see the confusion in the shorter's eyes but smiled and held him closely. He reached over just a little ways and gather the other's clothes together. Slowly and carefully he helped Zim dress. Every time the smaller one winced or a slight expression of pain crossed his face Spork felt a lance of pain jab into his squeedlyspooch. He would make it up to the other. It was inexcusable.
Zim's mind was groggy and he was grateful for the help. He tried to help the other but it was hard since Spork was so very much taller than he was. He could only help with the clasps as long as the other was sitting. He was so lucky to have met with Spork.... it had been a fluke really. He had run right into the Taller and instead of being heavily reprimanded he had been given a light warning. Later he had been approached and well... here they were. He smiled up at the other and stood shakily. His muscles protested the action and he ignored them. He hurt between his legs but he was pretty sure that it was normal, after all such activities weren't common. It probably hadn't helped that Spork was indeed so much taller.... There were very few times when Zim wished he was taller, and this was one of them. If he was taller they wouldn't have to hide their relationship.
As he stood he caught a glimpse of the window once more. It was the reason they were even in the empty room. Stars and other miscellaneous things glimmered in the absolute blackness of space. He stared longingly at it and thought about his dream. More than anything in the universe he wanted to be an Invader. It was silly though, the screening test was insanely difficult and the training itself was near impossible.
“Zim?” Spork said, interrupting his wandering thoughts. Zim turned and looked up at the one who had brought him here. Standing so tall and proud, so regal looking.
“Mmmm?” Zim replied, not really paying attention to what Spork was asking. He was to focused to admiring the lean but powerful form in front of him.
“I asked you if you wanted me to walk you to your lab,” Spork said, smiling as he watched the little one watch him. He had been perfectly content to just watch Zim stare out the window. He didn't quite know what it was that held so much of the shorter's attention but he was never going to forget the peaceful look on Zim's face.
“Yes!” Zim said joyfully and tottered over to the other carefully. He pushed back a wince and smiled instead. He brushed his gloved hand along the other's pointedly ignoring the worried look that crossed the Taller's face. Spork gave him a shaky smile back and together they slowly walked to Zim's lab.
They didn't say anything until they reached the door, both quiet as they toed at the floor hesitantly. As soon as they said it they would have to part. And neither of them knew when they would see the other next. Magenta met burnt gold and their hands tentatively touched before Zim pulled away to stand by the door. There was an almost awkward silence and Spork sighed before finally speaking up.
“I'll see you later Zim, Miyuki's sending me to Marb this time,” Spork said, apology clear in his voice. He hated to leave but.... the Ring Cutter wasn't going to wait forever. He gave one last look at his short lover and turned to leave. The smile that he had been wearing fell away and he let his emotionless mask cover his face once more.
“Bye,” Zim whispered as he leaned against the door frame, watching his lover leave. His squeedlyspooch gave an odd twist but he ignored it, just like he did every time he watched Spork leave. After a few moments he sighed and went into the lab. He only had about five minutes before Miyuki was showed up to see what they had to present.
Once inside the lab he gathered everything together, trying to sort it all out. He wiggled his fingers at his newest creation, an Infinite Energy Absorbing Blob. He called it Mr.Squishy. The blob bounced inside its little cell and garbled happily at him. It was a tiny little thing but it would be a potent weapon should it ever be unleashed onto an unsuspecting populace. Miyuki would undoubtedly love it. It was by far his least destructive weapon, something the Tallest would approve of. Tallest Miyuki wasn't very found of needless destruction and Mr.Squishy was the perfect sort of weapon for taking over a planet without firing a single shot. Rather boring in his opinion, but then he really liked blowing things up
The doors hissed open and the Tallest herself stepped in. Behind her were two guards following dutifully. She gazed about the room, taking in everything. Her deep blue eyes were alert and her antennae were perked forward assertively. She was the ideal image of a Tallest.
“What have the finest minds in the Empire created for me today?” Tallest Miyuki asked regally. She hovered gracefully along, peering at everything but wise enough to know better than to touch.
“We have recently completed an Infinite Energy Producing Thingy, as well as the preliminary designs for your new Bludgeon Class fleet leader. Lard Nar has been leading the design team,” One of the Lead Scientists stated excitedly. A relatively tall Vortian came forward, carrying a small holo-projector. On it was a ship that looked slightly like the Massive-to-be. There were major design differences though, like engine positioning and other such things.
“Dookie! That won't fly!” Zim butted in rudely, tossing a glare at the Vortian with the holo-projector. Lard Nar scowled back at him and the small Irken pressed down the urge to wiggle his tongue at the other. He wasn't a smeet anymore.
“Operator, who is this little one?” Miyuki said looking down at Zim before trailing her gaze back to the Lead Scientist. Behind her the guards shifted nervously. Obviously they knew who the tiny Irken was.
“Eh...Zim, Almighty Tallest. He's a transfer from Devastis. He destroys everything he touches,
so they figured he'd excel at military design and research,” The Lead Scientist explained hurriedly. He like everyone else who was forced to share a lab with Zim knew that the petit one was a walking disaster. He wanted to wrap up the presentation as soon as he could and get Tallest Miyuki safely away from the short menace.
“Enough compliments. Lookit! I made an Infinite Energy Absorbing Blob, he's cute!” Zim proclaimed, holding his prized experiment as high above his head as he could so that the Tallest could properly see it. It squirmed unusually in his hold, trying to break away.
“No! Keep that menace away from my Infinite Energy Producing Thingy!” Lard Nar screamed frantically. The Vortian lept for his creation, trying to protect it but he was knocked back as the small creature jumped onto him. He faltered under its surprisingly heavy weight. Behind him he saw Zim's eyes widen. Well, at least the little defect knew that everything was about to go down the drain.
Magenta eyes widened fearfully as he saw his beloved experiment lunge for Lard Nar's. The blob grew exponentially, growling hungrily it lunged towards the biggest thing in the room; Tallest Miyuki. Zim turned for the collar to control the blob but faltered as pain lanced up from between his legs. He sprawled across the floor in his attempt to move. He watched horrified as the blob devoured the beautiful Tallest and her guards in one quick gulp. The blob moved down the open hallway much quicker than its size would normally allow.
No one in the room moved, staring at the spot where the horror had occurred. Then one by one the other Scientists turned and stared at Zim. He didn't see them staring at him, all he could see was the look of absolute fear on the Tallest's face as she was devoured. He slowly and carefully pulled himself off of the floor, the shock wearing off.
He staggered out into the hallway, trying to find out where the blob had gone. If he could find it fast enough maybe he could get it to spit the Tallest out. With the Infinate Energy Producing Thingy inside of it there was no need for it to digest the Tallest and Irkens were surprisingly resilient. He was straining his healing body terribly and he knew he was going to regret it later but right now he was the only one who had any hope of saving the Tallest. He grit his teeth and ran faster, pushing his aching and tired body past its limits.
The sudden blaring of alarms and lights made him skid to a stop. He quickly used a feature of his PAK that he hadn't had to use in a long time. It was the space protection function, it created an environment around his face and his body to prevent him from depressurizing in the vacuum of space. He slumped to the ground and curled up. He cursed loudly and beat his fists against the ground. The sirens meant that the wall of the station had been breached and there was only one reason that would have happened. The blob had gotten outside. Now there would be no finding it.
He staggered to his feet, wincing as he felt what was undoubtedly blood trickle down his leg. He walked back to the lab, leaning against the wall for support. He didn't know what to do, his mind was still trying to process the fact that the Tallest was dead.
When he made it back to the room every eye was on him. Lard Nar was glaring at him with a hatred that he had never seen before. The Vortian stomped forward and the smaller Scientist watched the other carefully. What was he going to do? Why was Lard Nar so angry anyways? The Infinite Energy Producing Thingy could always be made again and he knew that the Vortian cared little for any Irken.
“You defect! I knew there was something wrong with you, you freak! You killed the Tallest!” Lard Nar hissed, his accusations making Zim feel like he should shrink. It wasn't his fault that Mr.Squishy had broken free. It the Vortian hadn't had out his experiment at the same time it wouldn't have happened!
“Zim did no such thing!” Zim snarled, his fists curling dangerously at his sides. He was sick and tired of being picked on. He wasn't going to stand for it anymore. The comments, the physical abuse, it was all going to stop.
“If your little menace hadn't been out of its cage none of this would have happened!” Lard Nar shouted back, his eyes were a blaze with fury. How could they have let the little disaster work at the Research Station for so long? They knew that he was reckless and destructive!
“Your so stupid! Stupid stupid! Quit blaming me for your failures!” Zim screamed in frustration. That was it. No more. He turned sharply and goose-stepped away despite the agony it caused. He let his perfect mask of a Soldier cover his face. He marched to his private room and collapsed on the bed, thankful that no one had followed him. He laid on the bed, weary of his injuries. He let his eyes close once to think and then he found himself staring at the wall groggily. Wasn't he staring at the ceiling before?
Groaning he stat up, pressing back the wince as his body complained loudly. He must have rested... he didn't feel nearly as tired, though he was still pretty sore. Obnoxious banging at his door rang through the room and he scowled. What now? He walked over to the door slowly and opened it, a little surprised to see the Lead Scientist.
“What is it?” Zim growled moodily. He eyed the other suspiciously and waited for an answer. The Lead Scientist was a small fellow, not as short as he, but still fairly short especially for a Vortian.
“Advisors from Irk have come to question you about the.... accident involving the late Tallest Miyuki,” The Lead Scientist said and turned away, expecting the smaller Scientist to follow. Zim grumbled to himself but trailed behind slowly. He made a face as he felt dried blood flaking off his leg. He only hoped that nothing had bleed through to his white lab smock. He was taken to a large meeting room that was close to their lab and made to wait outside of the door. He pondered whether just blowing up the station and blaming the now gone blob was a better idea than talking to the stuck up Advisors.
The door hissed open and one of the Advisors motioned him inside. He pressed down a swell of panic. Of the eight Advisors to the Tallest, five were in the room, all looking down at him haughtily.
“Scientist Zim, explain your actions. You are directly responsible for the death of the late Tallest Miyuki,” The Advisor on the far right said without emotion. They were all at least twice his height, now staring blankly down at him.
“Am not! Lard Nar was the one who didn't follow procedure. If he hadn't wanted to show off this wouldn't have happened! Zim was the only one who tried to go after it and save the Almighty Tallest,” Zim said defensively. He was not going to be blamed for something he didn't do. People were always trying to pin things on him because he had a reputation for destruction.
“You have proof?” The Advisor in middle asked skeptically. None of the Advisors looked like they believed him one iota.
“There are security cameras in every Lab and in all the hallways,” Zim retorted a little snidely. Honestly, he bet that everyone of the Advisors in the room had only gotten the position because they were Tall, not because they had any brains. He walked over to a computer panel and accessed the footage and let it play. The Advisors watched as Zim went about his duty while the other Scientists did theirs. Lard Nar could be seen working on something fervishly before sighing and placing it with the rest of the creations that were to be shown to the Tallest. The Tallest walked in, there was some speaking and they watched as the Blob went out of control and ate the Tallest, rampaging down the hallways. They watched as Zim staggered down the hallway trying to find the experiment before it was too late. When the sirens on the footage went off Zim paused it and shot the Advisors a dirty look.
“You are dismissed Scientist Zim. Grek, contact this Lard Nar,” The Middle Advisor, the tallest in the room stated and waved the Irken Scientist away. Zim stalked off, angered now beyond all reason. He made his way back to his room and raged around inside it. He threw his few possessions around, shouting in rage. Once his anger had settled down to more of a fuming lingering sort he sat down in front of his computer. He was getting out of the Research Station. He called up a few registration pages and did something he thought he would never do. He applied for training to become an Invader. The test to be admitted was in one month. Devastis was three weeks away from Vort where the Research Station was which gave him only a week to train and prepare for the grueling exam.
He grabbed his old cadet uniform and stuffed it into a bag along with his other few possessions. Storming down the hallway he went straight for the hanger. He loaded into his Voot Cruiser and took off. He set the coordinates and then slumped in his seat. He really was crazy. There was no way that he had just done what he did. He groaned as he thought about the test that he had just signed up for. Irkens died in the exam. Staring out into space he gave a small smirk. At least he had an advantage. Not to many applicants had their own ships and usually had to rent one. He stroked the interior of his Voot Cruiser lightly, remembering how he had gotten the machine. He had won a bet against a High Elite Guard. Spork had been the one to make the Elite stick to his word....
His thoughts drifted to the other and he wondered how the Taller's was going to take the news of the Tallest's death. He could have sworn he heard a snapping noise as he came to a sudden realization. Spork was Taller, meaning he was the second Tallest in the Empire. Now that Miyuki was dead.... his eyes popped wide. Spork was the new Tallest! He fidgeted in his seat as he fought back from contacting the other at the moment. The last thing the new Tallest needed was the extra attention.
For three weeks he held back on contacting the new Tallest, knowing that there was so much that would be needed to be done on Irk. As he pulled into Devastis air space he noticed that there was an unusually high amount of traffic. What was going on? The communications light on his control board lit up and he stared at it strangely for a moment. What on Irk was going on?
“Please proceed to Convention Hall 67-A,” A voice stated uncaringly and cutting off quickly. What was that about? He shrugged to himself and headed for the Convention Hall. Something must have been going on. He parked his ship and hopped out easily. Once he entered the Hall the first thing he noticed was that there were only about sixty Irkens in the rather large room. The second thing was that there was a large stage set up with a very tall podium.
“Zim? What're you doing here?”
The Invader-to-be turned and stared up at the person behind him. His face broke out into a grin as he took in the new sight. Hovering casually and decked in black and grey robes, Spork looked every bit the Tallest he now was.
“Invader Training.... my Tallest,” Zim replied. Spork pressed down a shiver at the tone. Irk that was going to stay with him. He had been trying to contact the other at the Research Station but the Lead Scientist had said the Zim had disappeared. He had been frightened for the other, knowing that the little one was very apt at getting himself into trouble.
“Then I'm going to have to steal you away from training once I'm done here. I have a few things that I need to talk to you about,” Spork said, brushing his now two fingered hand over straight antennae. The shorter one nearly purred at the touch and nodded hesitantly. He watched the other hover away with some trepidation. He hoped that whatever Spork wanted to talk about stayed away from the topic of the late Tallest's death.
Zim wove himself into the small crowd, wanting to be at the very front. He had a large grin on his face that seemed to creep more than a few of the potential trainees out. A long hand reached out and pulled him to the side sharply. He growled and was about to give them the greatest tongue lashing that Devastis had ever seen when he realized who had grabbed him. It was Purple, and beside the much taller trainee-to-be was Red. He could have sworn that Red and Purple were surgically grafted at the hips. You didn't see one without the other. Ever.
“What are you doing here?” Red asked, his eyes narrowed slightly as the two looked down at Zim. Behind them Tallest Spork had arrived on the stage and was delivering a speech to all that was gathered before him. Zim tried glancing around the bigger ones and scowled when they just stared down at him blankly, waiting for an answer.
“Training, duh. Why else would I be here?” Zim scoffed and tried stepping to the side. They moved as one and stood in front of him, blocking his view of Spork. He couldn't hear what Spork was hearing either. The two were leaning over top of him cutting off sound as well. He ducked to the side just enough to catch the tail end of the speech.
“-Salute me!” Tallest Spork finished and Zim snapped proudly into a perfect salute. The two in front of him turned and saluted as well, their forms straightening perfectly allowing Zim to see just how Tall they really were. Standing next to them he wouldn't be surprised if when everything was sorted out if one of them was made Taller. They turned back to him once they were dismissed. The crowd started leaving and the few that were left were approaching Tallest Spork. Zim whined quietly and tried to dodge around them again but they were persistant.
“After all of the horror you've rained down on the Empire since you were hatched and now they're training you to be an Invader? That's wrong on so many levels!” Purple stated, motioning wildly. The violet eyed one was always more active than his friend. Out of the two it was Red who held most of his respect though he had plenty for Purple as well. He had seen the violet dispatch anyone who had wronged him in even the slightest manner. And it had never been pretty. Despite Purple's usually chipper mood the purple eyed one had a violent streak coupled with a dose of sadism.
“Eh? Yes, yes, compliments aside when I am Tallest the Empire will rue having made me wait so long to rule them!” Zim babbled out, not really paying any attention to what had been said to him. He was to busy trying to watch Spork who looked very bored at having to talk to every single person who came up to him, wanting to shake his hand or some other absurd thing that they were never going to get to do.
“Well if I were Tallest I would put you up for an Existence Evaluation Trial,” Red muttered hatefully. Zim wasn't paying attention so he didn't hear the hurtful comment. He was to busy trying to find a way around the taller Irken then bother to listen to him. Something jingled in his pocket as he tried to shuffle to the side, drawing all of their attentions to the pocket. Zim reached in and pulled the thing out, revealing a small red disc.
“What's that?” Purple asked, pointing curiously. He, along with Red had leaned in a little closer to get a better look at the weird thing. They had never seen anything like it before. It certainly didn't look like a weapon, and it wasn't technological in anyway. It was just a plain red piece of plastic.
“This? It’s just an old toy for my Infinite Energy Absorbing Blob. It used to love to play with it, kinda obsessive actually. I'm surprised it hasn't come looking for it,” Zim said, mostly to himself as he looked at the toy critically.
The ceiling suddenly exploded inwards and a strange but hideously familiar creature dropped down. It flailed madly, growling before wrapping the Tallest firmly in its tentacles and swallowing Spork whole. The ones who were left screamed and panicked, running away from the flailing creature. Chaos reigned supreme as the Blob flailed around wildly. It was silent for a moment as everyone who was left in the Hall stared in absolute horror.
“No....no...no.... Spork... no...NOOOO!” Zim screamed frantically, diving forward for the Blob. Strong hands held him back as he watched the Blob bounce off. Once the Blob was out of sight the hands released him and he was sprawled across the floor. He rolled over and glared at the ones who had stopped him.
“Jeeze, I know you're stupid Zim but really, even you don't wanna be eaten,” Red said and put his hands on his hips as he looked down at the trembling mess that was on the floor. Zim looked pretty messed up, there were tears trailing down his cheeks and the taller one was pretty sure that the shorter one had no clue they were there. There was a strange glint in dark pink eyes and the petit one struggled up into a sitting position.
“Tallest Spork-he...” Zim choked out, unable to believe that the Tallest was actually eaten. There was just no way. It was impossible. Spork was a Tallest, he couldn't just die so easily. He clawed at the floor uselessly and squeezed his eyes shut, trying to shut out reality. It was wrong, it lied.
“Got eaten! Did you see that thing?! It was huge! And look at the hole it made in the roof. We're lucky it didn't collapse and kill us all!” Purple exclaimed, pointing wildly. It was clear that Zim wasn't the only one who was just a bit shaken from the ordeal. Zim opened his eyes and stood stiffly.
He stared around blankly, trying to find something to solidify reality. His gaze focused in on the gaping hole made by the Blob. His fists tightened and and he growled low in his throat. No, Spork wasn't dead yet. He couldn't be, Zim wouldn't let him.
Sound was lost to him as he stormed outside. He felt long hands try and grab his shoulders but he shrugged them off determinedly. He had to do something. He couldn't just sit around and let some Blob-thing get away with eating his lover. He could find it in time to save the other. It wasn't to late. Not yet.
Glancing around he quickly saw a clear path of destruction that could only have been made by the Blob. Things were torn out of their places and other things had been ripped away and were missing. Undoubtedly eaten by the Blob on its rampage. He could see a platoon of Soldiers gathering together near the wreckage of what looked like it was once a ground vehicle of some sort.
“Dookie, what the Blorch was that thing?!” One of the Soldiers cursed, pulling weaponry from the debris. There were others helping him and Zim stopped and listened carefully. Perhaps they could help him detain the thing before it got away.
“Some experiment. Heard it was made by the same guy who's responsible for Horrible Painful Overload Day,” Another one said darkly. This one was keeping a look out and held a long laser rifle casually. One could easily see the Elite symbol on his forehead.
“No Way! They let a disaster like that live? I mean- Hey! Who're you? Can't you see that this area is restricted?” A third one shouted out to Zim who was standing in place almost catatonically. The second's words had stuck a cord inside of him. It was his fault that the creature existed. It was his fault that the Blob had eaten Spork. Irk... what had he done? Tears started to fall down his cheeks and he couldn't help the quivering that overcame him. One of the Soldiers was approaching him but he was to lost in his blackening thoughts to care.
“Lef! Get over here!” The one that had walked over to Zim shouted back. He was standing next to the little magenta eyed one and was busy trying to figure out what to say to the obviously traumatized Irken in front of him. Tears were trickling down and the dark pink eyes were hollow. The one with the Elite marking jogged over, standing beside his comrade, looking down as well. They were both about average height and the one they were standing in front of only came to their chins. Short height and dark pink eyes made then think of only one possible explanation. The little one was a smeet. Probably out on his ten year learning experience. It was little wonder that the young one was so traumatized looking.
“Irk, we're going to have to take him with us. We can't leave him here,” Lef, the Elite who had been called over mumbled. He crouched down a little so that he was eye level with the smeet and nudged him gently in the shoulder to try and get his attention since speech didn't seem to faze him. The touch didn't do anything either so Lef stood and pulled on the little one's hand, hoping that he would follow. The young one trailed after him numbly and Lef took them both back to the wreckage waiting until they would leave for Headquarters were they could drop the smeet off and pick up their new supplies. One of which was going to be a Battle Mech.
Zim wasn't aware of where he was, didn't care that a stranger had taken him by the hand and lead him away. All he knew was that Spork was dead, had been cut down only a few weeks after becoming the pinnacle of what it meant to be Tall. And that it was completely and totally his fault. The only one that had ever truly cared about him was gone. All those cruel words came back to him, haunting him. Screaming at him that he was a disaster, useless and a menace to society. That he wasn't needed, wasn't wanted. The worst, defective. Defective for being so destructive, defective for caring, for daring to break outside of societies boundaries.
His breathing was slow and his pulse didn't race, he was so lost in his own mind that his body was slipping into shock. His skin had paled and soon his organs would start to shut down. His antennae drooped unresponsively and his eyes were unseeing. It was mildly disturbing to the Soldiers who were taking him with them. The tiny one looked like a shell of an Irken. It was like there was no soul in the body that was trailing slowly behind them.
Zim fought not to let his legs just give out and lay in the street. What was the point? He knew that the Empire hated him, knew that he wasn't really needed. Spork was gone. What was the point in even living anymore? The only person who had ever cared about him in the slightest was dead and it was all his fault. If he hadn't made the thing there would still be a Spork. If he hadn't pulled out the stupid little toy then Spork would still be alive. There was so many things that he could have done or not done and Spork would be with him. Still be smiling gently at him.
Zim blinked and took a deep breath as he let his tears stop. He had to control himself. Spork....Spork wouldn't want him to fall apart. It was so hard though, especially knowing that it was all his fault. There was no doubt in his mind. It was completely and totally his fault. It had been his experiment, his presence that had brought Spork's doom. If...if... tears started to form once more and he pushed the thoughts back. He just needed to stop thinking about it, stop thinking at all. He took another deep shuddering breath and pushed everything away. He became numb on the inside as he pushed everything that made him who he was away. Around him he noticed that he was with a group of Soldiers, who were talking to what appeared to be a Commander. Why was he at a Commander's Post? And why was there a huge Battle Mech just standing there?
He ignored the Battle Mech and tried to focus on what was going on around him. The Command Post was sloppily built, using wreckage to hide it rather than setting up a proper one. Inside where he had been brought he could plainly see a holo-map, marked with lines of destruction along with where their target, whatever it was, was located. It was a brilliant red that lit up most of the tent allowing him to see the grave looking faces of the Commander and an Elite with some regular Soldier's scattered behind him. He watched as they talked quietly amongst themselves, trying to figure something out.
“No! This Blob or whatever it is will be dealt with in a proper fashion. The use of such extreme measures will not be tolerated!” The Commander shouted heated, slamming his fists of the table that the holo-map rested on. The Soldiers flinched but the Elite stood strong despite the Commander's clearly visible anger.
“But Sir, my troops have engaged the Blob and it only ate the weapons that were fired at it!” The Elite, Lef protested forcefully. His stance was stiff and hostile as he tried to explain that there was no conventional means for them to destroy the Blob. The Commander tightened his fists and took a deep breath to explain to the Elite the purpose of the Battle Mech, which was the only reason he himself hadn't thought more seriously about such a dire measure. A strange whimper like noise drew all of their attention to the smeet that Lef had brought with him. The little one just stood there, eyes wide.
Zim stood there, staring up at the Battle Mech silently. So that was why it was standing there. It had been brought in to fight the Blob. His Blob. His mistake. He clenched his fists and made a decision. He stalked away, careful not to be seen. Unlike everything else, this time he would fix his mistake. No one else was going to feel the way he felt now. No one else was going to be eaten by his horrible creation.
“New Battle Mech's come standard with anti-matter missiles. I should know, I helped design them,” Zim whispered and ran out of the Command Post, Soldiers chasing after him to try and catch him so he could explain. The Elite looked as confused as the Commander stared after the running short one, eyes narrowed.
An angry tear slipped down Zim's cheek and he scrambled up the side of the Battle Mech, using his PAK-legs to help him. Who ever had last used the Mech had left the cockpit open, probably because of the direness of the situation. He slid into the Pilot's seat and went over the controls. While he had been in many simulations of a Battle Mech he had never actually used one and the controls were sligthly different. Scowling he pushed a button and the cockpit closed, cutting him off from the rest of the world. He called the thing to life, nimble fingers flying across the controls easily despite his inexperience.
The Mech took a mighty step, shaking the land as it nearly toppled over from imbalance. On board screens let him see the Commander and the Soldiers scurrying away and shouting at him. The utter silence of the pilot's seat was slightly disturbing and he countered it by letting his fingers roam across the controls. A warning light lit up and he ignored it until he saw a missile launch from the Mech's arm.
Oops.
The rocket spun madly before crashing into a building and exploding in a brilliant flash of light. He winced and quickly deactivated the other rocket before it could launch. It wasn't going to help anyone if he destroyed all of Devastis. He could destroy things later. He had to get that Blob first and the Battle Mech was going to be his best bet at finding it. He had seen the rough coordinates of where the Commander had thought the Blob to be. He changed the controls to manual and managed to get the Battle Mech moving fairly fast. Buildings crumpled underneath his carelessness but he payed it no mind as he neared the coordinates. The Mech knocked into things, sending people running in terror. There was nothing else but his destination.
In the distance he could see the Blob, now nearly as large as the Battle Mech. It was roaring loudly enough that he could hear it inside the sound proofed Mech. His face was dark as he brought the Mech ever closer. The Blob noticed him and turned, snarling loud enough to shake the foundations of what few buildings were still standing. Zim snarled as well, pulling levers and smashing buttons uncaringly. The Blob was going to be smushed, and he was going to do it.
He charged the Mech forward and tackled it. The Blob stretched to the side and the Mech toppled to the ground, earning a few good long scratches on it. The blob tried to stretch, wrapping strong tentacles around the legs of the Mech. It pulled mightily, the very heavy Mech scraping along the ground. Its mouth was gaping as it tried to bring the Mech into its maw. Zim took a lever and made the Mech kick out violently, snapping out of the Blob's steely grip. He made the Battle Mech role, crushing anything in his path and putting a few dents along the Mech as he forced it to move.
The Blob rolled after him, flailing wildly as it tried to wrap itself around the only thing as big as it was. Zim managed to get the Mech back onto its feet and swung an arm at it, firing the machine's automated weapon. The Standard Battle Mech was one of the few Military vehicles that still used projectile weapons. One of the few things that would work.
The Blob roared angrily as the large bullets tore into it's side, exposing bits of its insides. The Blob fused itself back together and tried snapping its long tentacles at the Mech. When that failed and Zim riddled it with more bullets it shrank into itself, trying to become smaller but failing. It growled angrily and slunk behind a large building. Rather than move around and try to chase it down he called up the targeting system for the regular missiles. He fired off two, one at the base of the building and one about half-way up. The missiles sped off, blasting the building to rubble and knocking the experiment back.
Zim put the rest away and made the Battle Mech leap into the air, planning on landing on the Blob. The Blob snarled warningly and jumped at him, lodging its tentacles tightly around the cockpit. He yelped and used the hydraulic strength of the Mech to fling it away. The Blob clung to the Mech tighter and the resulting test of strength caused the hatch of the cockpit to be ripped clear off of the Mech. There was a troubling groan of mechanics and then small lines of smoke trailed upwards.
Zim ignored the smoke and the damage to the Mech, focusing only on the complete and utter destruction of the Blob. He didn't see the wreck that he was creating, all he saw was his creation still moving. Still raining destruction down upon Devastis.
The experiment charged forward uselessly, intent on ripping apart the thing that had hurt it. It roared as bullets were pumped into its maw, and ripping through its tentacles. Zim cursed and made the Mech back away. Nothing was working. Bullets just tore through it and it melded itself back together. The conventional missiles weren't doing anything..... wait, the conventional weren't going to work but the anti-matter ones definitely would. He nearly smacked himself for forgetting something so vital and let his fingers dance across the control board. There wasn't going to be anything left of the Blob after this.
Zim growled viciously as he locked on the target. He turned the arms of the Battle Mech and fired anti-matter missile after missile. He kept firing a few minutes after there was no rockets left. Around him he could hear explosions, see them blast everything to rubble. Entire sections of buildings were just vaporized and as the strain became to much they just crumbled to the ground. The Blob was writhing on the ground, a huge chunk missing from it. There was no blood, no sign that it was hurt or even dying. But Zim knew. He knew because it was he who had created it. And he watched uncaringly as it convulsed and crawled under some wreckage. He heard a screeching warble and then there was silence. It was dead.
He scanned the rubble, looking for any sign of the creature to double check even though he was positive it was gone. The scans were dead though, showing only the destruction that their battle had wrought. Smoke rose to the sky and everything was still. There was nothing to indicate that anything at all was left alive. Black smoke billowed ominously from the joints and places the the Battle Mech had been hit. He could smell the acridness and bit back a cough. He was injured and the thick smoke wasn't doing his squeedlyspooch any favours.
The Standard Battle Mech trudged along despite the damage to it. It finally tripped over some smoking rubble and landed harshly. Its pilot was knocked around, falling out of the destroyed cockpit and onto the ground. Magenta eyes dimmed as the world slipped out of focus. He could hear faint shouts in the distance and wondered briefly if they were going to punish him.
Zim's last thoughts as the world slipped away from him were that they were right. He really was a disaster. Then the world became nothing and magenta eyes slipped shut.
