It Gets Worse … tis a bit of good advice in effd up situations. Keep that one thing in mind, never forget it, repeat it every time you think things are looking up ‘cause … It always gets worse … remember that whenever shit starts going south and you’ll likely be the last thing standing in the end … forget it and you’re street pizza.
Muri tempe et intervalia!
Cold eyes framed in soaked red hair watched as she fell in a slow arc towards the once gleaming tower, with out the projector rings up top there was nowhere for the pent up energy to go and it was clearly building to something dramatic. She never would have felt herself capable of the bitter hatred she felt towards the vile thief, as she watched the woman impact with the side of the overloading spire she felt a twinge of regret, not even she was likely to survive the current flow as it found the means to vent. The scream ringing in her ears would haunt her for a long time as she grimaced and watched her long time nemesis plunge to what would likely be her death.
Cold eyes framed in wet matted red hair watched as she fell in a slow arc towards the once gleaming tower. Without the projector head and rings the previously barely contained energy spilled into the sky dancing from raindrop to raindrop as it boiled away. She would never have felt herself capable of such bitterness towards the woman whose dark jade eyes so matched her own but so deep was the betrayal she refused to spare her foe the comfort of a concerned glance. Impact brought screams of utter agony and it took all her will not to let the hard stone expression fall from her face. The limp form of her greatest nemesis dropped from sight, if her luck held true the woman would be back and murderous angry. This suited her fine.
Cold eyes framed in wet black and green hair watched as the only real challenge she had ever known ran past her and leapt through the air, fingers gripping the odd shaped dart as the anchor line shot from her extended arm and sank into the still charged tower. Not caring what happened she tried to run, tried to make the leap necessary to save the life of the only person she had ever respected but true to form her footing failed. All she could do was watch from where she fell as the girl arced into the tower striking it hard then turning slightly as she bounced off the gleaming face. She tried to scream tried to beg her not to but in an agonizing flash the dart made contact. With a drenched cable linked directly to the tower the explosion of current chose the path of least resistance and flowed in a lethal arc through the girls body through the disruptor dart and back to its source achieving the affect the redhead had hoped. As the tower began to collapse in upon itself she watched the white clad form disappear into the darkness. It was some time before she realized the keening wail she could hear faintly was coming from her own throat.
Time is never something tampered with lightly, to do so only begs for disaster as The Supreme One knew all too well. She had made many attempts in the course of her possession of the Tempus Simia, the white of her hair a permanent reminder of unwitting damage she had inflicted upon her immortal frame. It was with this horror in mind that the monstrous dictator formerly known as Shego felt herself whimper silently, her fingers simply couldn’t reach the small idol in time and all she could do was watch. It shattered sending a torrent of agony through her form. She refused to scream from the pain but the scream came out as she witnessed her long time rival being drug back into the temporal vortex unleashed by the destruction of the guardian. Kim smiled as if she had no clue what she had allowed the sidekick to do.
“Dammit Kimmie I will not let you KILL ME!” The look of shock on the redheads face only registered on the periphery of her outraged and tortured body. Temporal energies ripped her apart from the inside as she leapt for the floating pair of would be heroes, Kim kicked and thrashed as she latched on declaring if she had to die she would take the redhead with her. It was only fitting after all. Unfortunately the universe seemed to enjoy conspiring against her and her grip was lost under the combination of internal agony and external injury, Kim’s foot broke two of the fingers on her hand as well as the collarbone she kicked at erratically.
Kim watched with a growing sense of horror as the enraged ‘Supreme One’ slipped and fell. She had heard the crunch and felt the snap of bone from her last kick and now she was watching as her greatest rival fell away. She and Ron were slipping up into the temporal vortex and were several feet as well as a few years distant already but even at that separation she could tell the woman wouldn’t be able to breakfall. She would land nearly headfirst. At best her neck would simply snap on impact, at worste her skull would split open and she would die a slow painful death. Kim hadn’t meant to hurt the woman even though she deserved it, now she had done something far worse though her logical mind refused to accept that. Ron destroyed the Tempus Simia, time was repairing itself. The future Shego wouldn’t exist so she couldn’t die. When she heard Ron squeak in fear she tried to focus on his face only to realize he was slowly dissolving. A quick glance at her own form showed she too was fading away, suddenly her confidence faded as fast as she seemed to be.
Ripples spilt forth throughout time and space, most people familiar with temporal mechanics assumed time to be a ductile thing, infinitely malleable but along a nearly linear path with the occasional offshoot branch where tampering created new timelines, new realities mostly identical but completely separate. If this were the case it would make travel much safer through the time flow but when if ever are such things simple? Case in point the night Kim Possible felt most betrayed by the only person she had ever respected, enemy or not, Shego had allowed things to go too far. She felt great satisfaction as she pummeled her longstanding foe. Each strike of her fist against the well toned flesh of the handiest target for her rage felt glorious. Her rage humiliation and sadness drove her almost beyond reason but the moment she heard Ron call her name she knew she had to respond. The disruptor dart gun defined an almost graceful arc through the air and she knew she had to act fast. Grabbing the front of Shego’s uniform Kim pulled and rolled backwards tossing the startled villainess hard into the solid masonry behind them. Her timing had never been better, the gun dropped neatly into her now outstretched hand.
With a hard smile she ran to the edge of the roof, she didn’t know the range of the gun and felt it wise to get as close as she could before taking the shot.
“Time to end this.” She said as she drew a bead on the highest point of the tower. The words felt hollow in light of the pain she felt. Her finger tensed the gun fired the dart screamed across the sky and at the last moment ultimate victory was snatched by the hand of the synthetic most directly responsible for her heartache.
“Rufus really didn’t appreciate that crack Eric.” The smile on her face was colder than anything Shego had ever seen from the girl.
“Little dude holds a grudge.” Ron chuckled as he struggled to gain his footing on the slick roof. Shego realized instantly the horrid little rodent was nowhere to be seen. She wanted to run knowing full well the endgame was at hand but instead she made towards the spot Kim stood. She didn’t want to leave without giving Kim her rightful chance at vengeance so she made herself an open and willing target hoping that in the ensuing chaos to come Kim would give her the chance to apologize.
Three steps away from Kim the twisted blue ripple hit her. Rufus bit deeply into the vinyl holding the amalgam of goo that was synthodrone 901 to form. The foul substance flooded his mouth as he tore through. Kim smiled with cold satisfaction as the artificial being she once knew as Eric began to shrivel, the very essence of his life flowing out the tear in his containment suit. As his decaying form collapsed slowly starting to curl backwards the ripple caught him. Twisting in timespace the hand clutching the dart now faced the overhang instead of the wide ledge the synthodrone had stood atop. Lifeless fingers lost their grip on the fragile electronic device and it dropped into shadow.
Ron gaped as he saw Kim leap off the edge only to witness a terrified expression on Shego’s face as she raced past and followed Kim over. Having finally gained his feet Ron raced to the edge and looked over in time to see Kim strike the dart against the side of the energized tower. Shego was on a slow arc towards the heroine when it happened. A virtual river of electricity wailed across the anchor line through Kim into the dart and back to its source. Shego, being close enough for the electricity to strike her as well, took a large arc of white hot plasma to the chest and hung there screaming with every bit the same degree of agony as Kim, then the tower exploded.
Shego went limp, consciousness having left her feeling less than mush as it apparently had Kim and she began to fall. Bereft of both power and the thought required to control the suit the anchor remained the only thing keeping Kim from taking the plunge and to his horror Ron could only watch as the anchor came undone. Hand to his side he felt for the spare grapnel gun he carried. When he couldn’t feel its familiar form in his cargo pocket he wrenched his gaze away from his best friend to look directly for the device, the ripped pocket told him all he needed to know and he felt his voice tear from his throat. An attempt to dive over the edge was halted by small but firm hands. His voice faded in the deluge as she fell into shadow after the black and green clad woman who preceded her. “Th-the-they’re gone Stoppable.” The voice might as well have been alien to him for all the recognition he had of it. As if to prove this voice correct the towers remaining structure lurched mightily to the side then with a deafening roar folded in upon itself. Only the steady rain kept the dust at bay and allowed the pair to watch as the women they had cared so deeply for were buried under thousands of tonnes of steel concrete and destroyed technology.
Cold emotionless eyes watched the scene as it played out, the heroine and the villainess surprised him. He had expected Kim Possible to make some attempt to catch the dart but never to sacrifice herself in the process. He had expected the villainess to cheer and celebrate as the only one capable of besting her died not throw herself into the abyss in an apparent attempt to save the redhead. It made him curious and anything capable of stirring him to emotion merited closer inspection. He had but a moment to take action and by force of will translocated himself to the projected points of impact. Invariably his calculations proved correct. The woman in green and black flew past, her skin smoldering and scarred. She would hit the ground in the length of a heartbeat but he needed to be able to see the other object of his interest to save them both. Once more his calculations proved spot on. The once dazzling white uniform came into sight just as the roar of the collapsing structure could be heard. Again he forced the universe to bend to his will wrapping the pair in the gentle embrace of his power and the trio simply winked out of existence.
Ron Stoppable felt a coldness settling over his heart as the words penetrated the haze of his heart wrenched spirit. Barely able to focus through the rain, or possibly the tears flowing freely from his eyes, he turned to see the twisted form of Drakken pounding his almost feminine hands against the solid rooftop. He would never have credited the mad genius with such passion but it was clear the loss of his long standing partner in crime was tearing him apart. If he didn’t know better Ron would swear it seemed like Drakken was mourning the loss of someone he truly loved. He realized then that it had been Drakken who held him back from making what would have been a foolishly fatal leap into the chaos below. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to thank the crazed villain strangle him or simply join the blue skinned freak in cries of anguish, Drakken was directly responsible for this nightmare after all.
Cold green eyes watched with a stunned disbelief etched in the expression on her face. She couldn’t believe what she had just seen and had even greater trouble accepting she was actually still alive, that disbelief lasted a fraction of a second as the broken bones in her body asserted themselves relaying their agony directly to her numbed brain. Pain was nothing new to her but the affects of being savagely ripped from timespace and tossed across the sea of infinity took it to entirely new heights. Her body still shook from the surges of temporal flux and the broken bones suffered at the foot of her greatest rival a constant reminder that she while she had gained a great strength she was still vulnerable to the damages a flesh and blood body was subject to. She had to find out what happened to her temporal alternate and the girl she had come to speak with. If what she had just witnessed were true she had no idea what would happen next. Time didn’t like being tampered with and it seemed to be throwing a tantrum. Dragging herself to a standing position the older incarnation of Shego staggered forward desperate to find help but unsure of who to turn to. Looking skyward she let the cold rain wash her hair from her face, surviving the night would need to be the top priority. Anything beyond that at this point would be counted a blessing but not marked until she experienced it.
Once she had made her way to the street the wounded arch villainess slipped into the shadows attempting to make her way closer to the scene of devastation. She had to see with her own eyes even though she knew neither her younger self nor the determined girl she admired for so long could survive the fall let alone having a building fall on them afterwards. ‘Hold up, I survived that fall. Didn’t I?’ A memory flashed briefly in her minds eye, Kim had kicked her into the tower, energy surged through her battered body causing her muscles to tense so hard they ripped ligament from bone, in the case of her right arm the bone gave before the tendon. Pain flared anew but not from the arm or the places her mind told her had been damaged in the incident. The broken ends of her collar bone ground against each other as the now useless arm caught the side of the building she ducked behind.
“I never had that experience so why do I remember it?” the question hung in the air while rain continued to drop. She almost felt herself wishing the rain would get just a bit colder, in her weakened condition hyperthermia would set in and she could allow it to ease her from existence. “Damn it Shego! Get over yourself!” She raged at her lapse into cowardice. “I didn’t survive all that just to give up now!” Angered at her weakness she forced her feet to keep moving forward. “They didn’t give up, Kimmie and that damnable sidekick beat me when I had them dead to rights. Kimmie didn’t give up just now even when she knew it would cost her her life, My other self would never give in either for that matter so I will be damned if I will. I conquered the world and held it for years I’ll survi-i-I” Shego fought with everything she had left but it proved insufficient, she had already given her last and then some, the blackness wouldn’t be refused again.
The city never heard her fall, the wet thud of her battered form lost in the piteous wails of loss and mourning. Kim Possible, hero to the world was gone and the future villain should count herself lucky she went unnoticed. Had she been spotted she likely would not have survived Kim by more than a few hours.
