Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Author’s notes: I usually don’t put up smut for all to see, but... what the hell.
No actual smut in right now, though; since the fic was running long, I decided to break it up into chapters. But rest assured - there will be sex.
Standard disclaimers: Avatar and all related characters don’t belong to me, it's all property of Nickelodeon, yada yada yada. Also, please keep in mind that Jet only appeared in one episode, and I only saw that episode once. Sorry if I made any mistakes in his portrayal.
Forest Fire
*************
Jet prowled through the trees, his ears keenly tuned to all the sounds of the forest. Birds, monkeys, insects... nothing out of the ordinary, but Jet wasn’t about to let himself be caught off guard by any surprises.
He was breaking one of his own rules: never go out alone. It was pathetically easy for a single person to be ambushed - as he should know, being the leader of a considerably large group of bandits. But every now and then, he had to get away, to be alone for a little while.
The sound of an odd rustling caught his ear, and Jet crouched down behind a mass of bushes. Peering our through the leaves, he saw someone approaching down the makeshift path that cut through the line of trees. Red and black armor became distinct as it moved closer - the uniform of a Fire Nation soldier.
Jet’s sharp eyes darted around, searching out any other intruders into his forest. He saw just the single warrior. Good; Jet could take this one himself.
Prince Zuko strode down the leaf-littered path, oblivious of his watcher. His eyes were trained ahead of him, searching for one thing and one thing only: the Avatar. He had spotted the flying bison over the area, and his helmsman had reported seeing it land somewhere in the woods. Zuko wasn’t going to let this chance pass him by; he had ordered the ship to be docked, and his men to spilt up and search for the boy. One of them would find him. They had to.
A sudden movement in the bushes. Zuko halted, planting his feet firmly against the ground and flexing his fingers in preparation to attack.
“Who’s there?” he demanded. “Show yourself!”
Jet, his own hands circling the hilts of his sang kauws, stood up and sauntered out of the bushes. “Well, well,” he said. “What have we here? One lone Fire Nation solder, lost in my woods? I hope you have the toll for passing through.”
“Toll?” Zuko replied darkly. “I don’t have time to deal with peasant scum like you. Get out of my way.” He started forward. Jet moved to intercept him, drawing his sang kauws.
“No toll?” he asked in mock disappointment. “Pity. I’d hate to walk away from this encounter empty handed. Perhaps a trade? That nice armor of yours in exchange for your life.”
Zuko scowled, his eyes narrowing. “You’ve chosen the wrong man to pick a fight with,” he growled.
The two teens glared at one another, both slightly crouched in a defensive stance, and began to circle each other. Jet grinned maliciously, his eyes still locked on Zuko’s, and made a beaconing motion with one of his weapons.
“Well? How much longer before you ask me to dance?” he goaded in a low voice.
With an impatient snarl, Zoku short forward, swinging his arm in a wide arch and sending a blast of flame at the other boy. Jet dodged it easily, rolling sideways and back flipping over the second tongue of flame that followed the first. He laughed tauntingly, opting to allow the Fire Nation prince to tire himself out, rather than to counter attack. Jet lived for this type of excitement, and he wasn’t going to let it end too soon.
“Some warrior!” he called out as he wove around the flames. “Haven’t hit me once!”
“Hold still!” Zuko followed the other boy’s movements, casting wave after wave of fire all around him. But Jet was too fast; Zuko was unaccustomed to dealing with such nimble opponents. He yelled out his frustration as Jet darted around another burst of flame and disappeared into the trees. “Coward!” Zuko shouted after him. “Come back and fight!”
An ominous silence was his only answer. Zuko straightened, lowering his arms slightly and peering into the forest suspiciously. Something about the silence seemed suspiciously like a trap, and Zuko was not about to go running into the trees to fall straight into it.
There was a snapping sound off to his left. Zuko whirled around to face it, but saw nothing. Another snapping sound to his right. Again, he spun around. Nothing. “He’s playing with me,” Zuko murmured to himself angrily, slipping back into a defensive position. There was no honor in sneak attacks; obviously, this other boy was nothing than a common bandit, wasting his time by-
A sudden force barreled against Zuko’s back, and he toppled forward, clattering against the ground. He started to scramble to his feet, but a second blow against his ribs knocked him to his back. Something cold and metallic caught on his wrists, pinning them to the ground, and Jet’s face appeared upside down above him, grinning maddeningly.
“Hey,” the boy greeted.
Zuko snarled at him, struggling to free his arms. His legs were still loose; he pressed his feet against the ground, trying to find leverage to help dislodge his restraints.
“Can’t have that, now, can we?” Jet slipped around Zuko, flicking out his arm. Another weapon - two balls attached by a long, thin rope, whipped around Zuko’s ankles, biding them together. Jet calmly reached down to secure them better, then straightened to admire his work. “There we go,” he said in appreciation. “One Fire Nation scum bag, trussed up like the pig he is. And now for that toll...”
