And the rating is for later chapters (( XD the prince gets to have some fun… >> and maybe some of the other characters as well )) Hopefully soon I’ll have some art done for this story, and have the links up for you all to see it… Oo;;; don’t worry, I’m a much better artist then I am writer.

The Enchantress
Chapter one:
It was a hot, dry, windless day. With it being the dead of Summer, rain was scares, the days sticky, and getting to be most unbearable. The men on the ship where restless, Uncle Iroh was uncharacteristically irritable, and even Prince Zuko was found meditating in his room more and more, to try and escape the heat of the day. The search for the Avatar wasn’t going well either, with the excuse for the men’s “incompetence” being the heat, which didn’t help the Prince’s mood in the least bit. All in all the last week on the Fire Nation ship had been quite miserable.
Bravely daring to face the wrath of his nephew, Uncle Iroh knocked on Prince Zuko’s door to his chambers, and entered without an answer.
“I said I didn’t want to be disturbed!” Prince Zuko answered from his position on the floor. He was sitting with his legs crossed under him with this hands turned upright on his knees.
“Prince Zuko, the men are tired and restless. The heat is starting to wear on them. We’re near the mouth of a river, so why don’t we stop and take a rest and let everyone get there minds off this heat?” Uncle Iroh asked watching his nephew’s exasperation.
“Not until we find the Avatar.” the young Prince said with a calm look on his face, and his eyes still closed.
“We haven’t even spotted the Avatar in over a week Zuko!” Uncle Iroh Stated.
“That’s because everyone on this boat has stop looking! Why should I reward them for that!?” Zuko yelled finely giving into his anger. He shot up off the floor, fixing his uncle with a glare.
“As I have said before, they are tired and in need of rest… as do you Prince Zuko. You have been much to edgy lately . We must rest our body’s and mind’s. The Avatar can wait one more day my prince.” Uncle Iroh said starring down his nephew’s glare with an irritated look.
Zuko continued to Glare at Iroh “ This is stupid… It’s a waist of time… It’s absurd… It’s…”
“Something that needs to be done,” Uncle Iroh stated folding his arms under his sleeves.
Zuko glared at his uncle for a few more moments before turning his back on him to sit back down in a meditation stance. “One day, and that’s it. After that the men had better be more focused or they will have to deal with me next.”
Iroh bowed to Zuko’s back “Thank you Prince Zuko. The men will be most pleased.” he stated before walking out of his nephew’s chambers. Zuko just glared through his meditation, letting out a light growl of frustration.
After docking near the mouth of the river, the men began to set up camp, much pleased to be off the boat and close to the river where the air was several degrees cooler. Prince Zuko, on the other hand, still fuming with having dared been asked to stop his search for the Avatar for even one day, went out scouting the area. He followed the river, letting the spray from the light mist wash over his face, cooling his temper a bit. The woods near the river mouth was a quite and serene place. Letting the quietness carry him fair into the trees, Prince Zuko wandered lost in his thoughts.
What seemed like hours later Zuko, much less upset, thought it would be wise to head back to camp for the night, as dusk was approaching. Turning to walk back the way he came, Prince Zuko stopped dead in his tracks. A wonderful sound tickled his ears that was coming from the way he had been heading not moments before. The sound seemed to call to him, beaconing him closer. Never in his life had he ever heard such an enchanting sound. He began to walk toured the wonderers tune, as if it had bewitched him, making his feet move on here own accord.
Moment later Zuko reached a clearing in the woods, where the river was much wider, with tall grass and large boulders decorating the small area. There sitting on the largest of the boulders, playing with a small flower in her hand, what the most beautiful vision the Prince had ever seen. A young girl sat there, singing the wonderful tune that has enchanted him. Her hair was as golden as the sun, her skin tan from the sun’s rays, and her eye’s where as violet as the flower she held. She sang on, unknowing she had a new audience. The young Prince walked farther into the clearing, drawn to the beauty before him.
:: She must be a goddess :: Zuko thought, knowing that such a beauty could not be from this world. He stepped on a twig that had been lying near his feet, snapping is easily. The sound of the snap went unnoticed to Prince Zuko, but no the young woman before him. Her head shop up, looking strait into the face of the boy who had been watching her. She jumped up ready to run, frightened for her life.
“Please don’t go” Zuko asked, raising his hand as if to reach out for her and bring her back. She stopped with her back to him, standing on the boulder. “I didn’t mean to frighten you” He said, trying to coax her back.
“Your from the Fire Nation aren’t you?” She asked looking over her shoulder at him, studying his fetcher.
“My name is Zuko, I’m… a traveler.” he said, desperate for her to stay and sing again. “Please don’t go, I’ll stay right here, and wont move” he said sitting on a small rock close to where he had first came into the clearing, “I only wish to listen to you sing.”
The young girl, turning back around to face the Prince, watched him for a moment, “I suppose it would be alright” she said, sitting back down on her boulder. “I’m afraid I don’t know many songs” she said looking in his direction.
“I don’t care, sing the same song over again if you must, it doesn’t matter, but please just sing.” He said, resting his chin in he hands. She watched him for a moment more before closing her eyes to sing once again, taking the Prince into wonderful bliss. The early night moonlight shined down on her, giving her a pail phantom like glow. He watched and listened, coming under the enchantment once again, his heart and soul being drawn by her voice like before.
After what seemed to short of a time to Zuko, the young beauty stood from her seat looking at the Prince once again. “I’m sorry, but I must be going. It’s getting late, and I fear that the village I’m staying with will send someone to come look for me if I don’t return soon.” she said, walking to her side of the clearing.
“Wait!” Zuko said, standing as well. “Will I see you again?” He asked stepping forward a bit.
She looked over at him again, placing her hand on the tree next to her, “I’m not sure. But I come here quite often.” The young woman said looking back to the trees.
“One more thing before you go… What is your name?” He asked, wanting to have anything from her.
She looked back at him again with a light smile on her face, “my name is Stephanie,” ( why she has a modern name will come to light later on in the story ) She said before disappearing into the darkness of the woods.
By the time Prince Zuko arrived back at the camp most of the men where drunk, celebrating their day off and the cool night air. He walked past his drunken men, heading for the Ship, and some rest. Uncle Iroh approached him as soon as he was on the boat.
“So Prince Zuko, what did you find on your outing?” He asked, hoping for a village to be nearby so he could get some supplies.
“Nothing but trees, rocks, grass and flowers.” Zuko said walking down the hall to his chambers, wanting to be alone with this thoughts. “Tell the man we will be staying for one more day Uncle,” he said before retiring to his room.
Zuko laid on his bed looking up at the ceiling of him room, He let the songs that his beauty had sang to him hours before coaxing him into blissful sleep where she sang to him once more and looked at him with loving eyes.
