Slight references to my other fics Flirt and Bad Cop. First two chapters were posted at dA. Chapter 3 is new for dA readers! And only three months and day late . ^o,o^
edit: A very short end piece title 'Holomatter Omake' is at my dA page. Rather silly.
Holofun 1

Prowl thought this was a sound idea with practical applications. Just because Lockdown suggested it, didn’t make it a bad idea. The bounty hunter’s reasons for this experiment were completely unprofessional but changes to the holomatter program might be useful. Now if only Bumblebee would go away and leave him alone for a while. Until then Prowl could only check relatively innocuous sites for photos of human males. He started with something familiar.
“Whatcha doing?” the pest asked with a look of innocent curiosity, as if he was really interested in what Prowl was doing.
“Research,” the ninja said, not believing the act for one nanoclik.
“Why?” asked Bumblebee, trying to look over Prowl’s shoulder.
“Because it’s important,” he said.
“Because why?”
“You’re missing that TV dance show you like.”
“Meh, it’s a repeat,” Bee said, but he sat down anyway. Good, at least he wasn’t looking at the monitor. Prowl clicked on the next link, hoping it was what humans called ‘work safe’.
“Hey, what’s that?” Optimus asked and Prowl nearly jumped.
“What? Lemme see!” Bumblebee said and hopped up.
The ninja sighed heavily while the two looked over his shoulder at a website of fire and rescue equipment. The little import just gaped while Optimus said, “Hey, save that. I want to see more.”
“Anything else?” he asked, giving up now that there was an audience.
“That’s it?” Bumblebee asked, looking disappointed, “From the way you’re acting, I thought you were looking at biker pinups or furry motorcycles again.”
“You sent me those links and I’m still traumatized,” Prowl said, crossing his arms.
“Furry what? That doesn’t sound very practical.”
“No kidding,” the ninja said with a shudder, “I was just going over human tactical and rescue equipment. For future reference.”
“Hey, good thinking,” Optimus said, looking impressed, “I’ll catch up on that later.”
“Wow…You’re even boring on the internet,” Bumblebee said and trotted off. The two left and Prowl tried again. This time with a link that the bounty hunter recommended. Once the area was clear, he hit enter.
-------------------------------------
“I am not wearing that!” Prowl hissed over the com link.
“Why not? You’ll have the build for it,” Lockdown said, “You’ve got the frame for it right now, but they don’t make aft-less chaps for mechs. On this planet anyway.”
“Why do I even listen to you?”
“Because you lust over me and can’t get enough-” The com link suddenly went dead and Lockdown chuckled, “Must be somebody there.”
------------------------------------
“Whatcha looking at?” Sari asked as Prowl leaned over the monitor, covering up the screen. She bounced around him, trying to peak.
“It’s a website for motorcycle accessories,” he lied, clicking the page off.
“Aw, what a gyp! Bumblebee said you were looking at biker chicks,” she chirped, “Well, I said you’re prolly looking for a date. I mean, don’t you get tired riding all by yourself? And wouldn’t you really like somebody you can talk to and you being a bike that naturally means you’d want a girl who knows all about that. And then he said…” Sari prattled on while Prowl just slumped over the keyboard.
“Someone just offline me now,” he muttered.
-------------------------------------
Back in his room, the ninja went over the information that Lockdown sent. Admittedly, he had looked at human males from science and educational websites. Organics were fascinatingly complex beings after all. But this new data was far more varied.
Faces, body structures, skin types, etc, from a wide range of males, mostly ones in their early twenties with athletic bodies. Lockdown fixated on certain features, but the data was sound and detailed. Extremely so, right down to anatomical differences, including comparative studies with pictures. Impressed by how much thought the bounty hunter put into this, Prowl smiled as he worked on the new design.
Holomatter projection was already in his original makeup, so technically it wasn’t a mod. A slight teak in sensory input, boundaries, skin textures etc and it was reactive than before. He’d experimented with his own cop persona in the past so this wasn‘t that new.
As a rider, there was a whole range of sensations that were different from his alt form. The wind, g-forces, sound, scent, a heightened awareness of his surroundings. Some of this came naturally from being a small vehicle in traffic, but with a rider Prowl‘s sensors were expanded. He was one and the same being but at slightly altered perceptions.
So far, his new look and civilian attire blended in naturally. Though he received more attention than usual and already he missed his more anonymous form. People didn’t wink at him during stoplights. And this holoform was a little too sensitive. The base perimeters were a tiny bit off from the normal model (one of Lockdown’s factors was very specific on those details) so maybe he just wasn’t used to this yet. The slimmer build, the illusion of weight distribution and even his movement were all set on a light touch.
It was oddly …fun.
--------------------------------------------------
He found the holographic garage easily enough and pulled in next to Lockdown. The muscle car was in sleep mode as unbelievable as that was and didn’t respond to Prowl’s presence.
“Lockdown?” he whispered. There was no response. The ninja parked his bike and walked over to put the car’s grill. Tentatively, he put his hands on the hood. The muscle car purred, its headlights coming up and the ninja sighed with relief.
“Hey, you’re worried about me,” the bounty hunter chuckled, “Now get your aft over here, I can’t wait to see you.”
“You can look now,” Prowl said.
“Nah. Surprise me,” Lockdown said and he shut off.
